The football world is currently mourning the devastating death of Yeovil Town captain late Lee Collins, who tragically died at the age of 32.

Late Lee Collins started his football career at Wolverhampton Wanderers and enjoyed loan spells at Port Vale, Northampton Town, Mansfield Town, FC Barnsley, and Forest Green Rovers after which he joined Yeovil Town in 2019.

Collins played his late fixture for the English Fourth Tier club against Stockport on February 6. Yeovil Town are yet to reveal the cause of Collins death, and were due to play a clash with Altrincham in the National League on Friday but the game was postponed.

“All at Yeovil FC are morning the loss of club captain Lee Collins,” Yeovil Town posted via Twitter.

” Lee sadly passed away yesterday and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

Collins who had been out of field on several occasions was battling with injuries, but later returned to the bench last week in Yeovil Town’s 3:1 victory over Barnet.

English Championship side FC Barnsley said they would pay a tribute to Collins on Friday, as they host FC Reading in the English Championship.

Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Blessing Jimoh for beheading her aged mother to death over claims of witchcraft.

A source said the nursing mother hit her mother, Ijeoma Odo with a sharpened cutlass while they worked on a farm in Ile- Uluji, Ondo state.

Mrs Jimoh was told by a pastor that her mother is a witch. Ondo state Commissioner of Police, CP Bolaji Salami stated that there is a strong suspicion that the suspect might be mentally deranged and that the law would take its cause, Crimeworld reports.

Blessing claims a certain Force propelled her to commit the crime. She said, “It was something doing me (sic) that make me kill my mother. I am not happy with what I did. I cut her neck with a cutlass. It was a Pastor that said she was a witch and l went to beg her. My mother is from Enugu State. We have been looking for the Pastor but we have not seen him.”

The donation of N50m to victims of Katsina Central Market fire by All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, has been raising dust on social media with many Nigerians criticising the former Lagos State governor while his supporters have also taken to his defence.

Reno Omokri, a former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, had censured Tinubu for donating the huge amount to victims of the Katsina market fire while allegedly ignoring affected traders at Shasha market in Ibadan, Oyo State; and other markets razed recently in Lagos and the South-West.

No fewer than 700 shops and stalls were razed in a Monday morning fire incident that ravaged the Katsina Central Market.

Goods worth billions of naira worth were also burnt and stolen in the looting that followed the unfortunate incident.

Tinubu was in Katsina on Wednesday where he was received by the state governor, Aminu Masari. The APC stalwart was taken round the razed market by the governor and he pledged to assist the traders with N50m.

However, the APC chieftain has since come under fire on social media. Katsina is the home state of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and many have linked Tinubu’s donation to his rumoured presidential ambition.

The parents of one of the abducted Chibog girls, still under captive of Boko Haram militants, have again urged president mohammadu Buhari to resume their daughter and that they would accept her in any condition.

In a statement by their spokesperson, Dr Gloria Puldu, the parents demanded that President Buhari brings back their daughter with or without children, because Leah remains their child and they will take her back no matter the situation or the condition she comes out with.

Laura Ikeji and her husband, Christopher Ogbonna Kanu, have been accused of diverting toys intended for less Privileged children to her and her sisters’ children, according to a blogger known as Cutie Juls.

An Instagram user had previously accused Laura of flaunting toys given to Mr Ogbonna at his workplace, claiming that the toys were intended for distribution to less fortunate children.

Laura was accused of saying the toys were gifts from her husband, according to the IG user.

Laura, her husband, and her sisters were blasted by the blogger who confirmed her claim, telling them to “remember there are kids out there whose parents cannot afford it.”

Last month I wanted to buy an SUV (because you need one in Lagos especially if you are always at a Site) and that same period a church building project came up. So I was left with the choice of either buying my SUV or giving the money for the church of God to be completed (where people’s life will be changed for good and souls saved). So I was led in my spirit to give it for the church project and used the rest to buy a car for someone who didn’t have one. A month later God blessed me with Two SUVs at once.

In as much as I am writing this with a heart of gratitude to God I am also not surprised because this is not the first time God has done something like this. The problem is we (especially this generation) have allowed distractions to blind us from what the word of God is saying about our lives and the promises that come with it. We have been chasing shadows, seeking wealth in the wrong places and neglecting the purpose for which God has created us, we have completely forgotten Matthew 6:33. We have allowed people that claim to know God but contradict His words lead a lot of people far away from the kingdom of God discouraging them from giving to God and honoring his prophets. Some even call Christianity a “white man’s religion” and try to deceive people to go back to idol worship.

Senate has appealed to Saudi government to assist in bringing those Nigerians, detained in various countries across the globe.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, made the appeal on Wednesday when the Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal Eebraheem Alghamdi, paid a visit to his office at the National Assembly, Abuja.

The Senate President, while underscoring the role of the Ninth Assembly in ensuring compliance to bilateral and multi-lateral agreements, entered into by the Nigerian government, stated that ongoing efforts were underway to evacuate citizens held back in Saudi Arabia.

He noted, “This legislative arm of government is always conscious of ensuring that our government plays its role in bilateral and multilateral dispositions, that our government has decided to go into.

“Saudi Arabia and Nigeria established a very solid relationship for a long time, and the relationship has been growing every year.

“I want to assure you that this arm of government will work with you as the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia.

“We are aware that some of our pilgrims in the past had issues in Saudi Arabia, thousands of them are in detention and, therefore, as a country we have taken conscious decisions to ensure that we continue to educate and enlighten our citizens, especially those going to Saudi Arabia for Ummrah of Hajj, that when they get there, they should perform their religious rites and return to Nigeria.

“This is to minimize and possibly avoid people going there and not coming back. I want to assure you that we will continue to support the National Hajj Commission in educating our pilgrims and, of course, the State Welfare Boards across the country.

“Our country is also making a lot of efforts to ensure we evacuate our citizens who are now in Saudi Arabia and who we believe should be back home.

“I want to use this medium to seek the support of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government to work with us in this respect to get our citizens back.

“Presently, we have over ten thousand Nigerians who are not registered and who are held in detention. It is our desire to ensure that we get these people out of the country and bring them back home.

“I want to assure you that the relationship between these two great countries – Saudi Arabia and Nigeria – can only go higher and better.”

The Senate President also appealed to Saudi Arabia to use its influence as a major player in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to increase Nigeria’s crude oil production quota.

According to him, doing so would enable Nigeria meet with the country’s infrastructural demands needed to match its growing population.

“As OPEC members, we need the support of Saudi Arabia in so many respects. Even though it is not Saudi Arabia alone that can determine the quota cut for any OPEC country, but Saudi Arabia is the major country in OPEC. Because of your position, you have a lot of influence more than any country.

“Presently, our quota, I think, is about 1.5 million barrels per day. We would request that whenever the opportunity avails itself, we would like to see a higher quota for Nigeria. We have a very huge population – over 200 million – and we have massive challenges in developing our infrastructure.

“At the moment we still earn more than ninety percent of our foreign exchange from the export of crude oil, so we would like to see a situation where we are able to export more of our crude,” he said.

Lawan expressed optimism that the relationship between the Nigeria-Saudi business communities would enhance trade and business relationships to the benefit of both countries.

In a response, the Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal Eebraheem Alghamdi, said the purpose of the visit was to build on this existing relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, “we need to develop our relationships and this is the goal as I am here.” he added.

The Christian Association of Nigeria , CAN, has urged the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed to intervene in the ongoing violence over the hijab policy which according to the association, has led to violence and bloodletting in Kwara State.

CAN in a statement issued on Wednesday by its General Secretary, Joseph Bade Daramola, said Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, should be held responsible if the matter degenerates.

According to the religious body, the governor’s pronouncement on the issue of hijab-wearing is in violation of the court directive on the matter that the status quo should be maintained until the matter is resolved by the court.

“Wisdom is required by those in leadership to handle sensitive issues such as that of religion so as not to precipitate war. if any damage is done to any church or anyone is injured on this matter, the governor of Kwara State will be held responsible.

“It is disheartening and unfortunate that a government that was installed democratically will become insensitive to the plight and the yearning of the people as if the governor was voted into the office primarily to protect his own religion. This is unfair, ungodly and reprehensible.

“There are public schools and schools that belong to some Islamic organisations where those who wanted to be wearing hijab can be attending without causing the ongoing needless crises rocking the state,” the statement partly read.


The Christian association called on Governor Abdulrazaq to give peace a chance in the state by ordering hoodlums attacking mission schools and churches in the state, to stop before the situation degenerates into an unprecedented religious crisis.

The victim was hacked to death by the assailants at her residence, behind Kismet Hotel, off David Mark Bye-pass, on Friday, March 12.

It was gathered that at the time the incident happened, the husband, a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, was said to be in Lagos.

According to a reports, Mrs. Aghanya might have been trailed to her house by the assailants. She was said to have returned home around 4pm and parked her car in the compound.

Her husband called his younger brother to go and check on his wife that Friday night, sensing something was wrong as he couldn’t get hold of her.

When the brother got to the house, Mrs. Aghanya’s car was seen parked but the door to the house was locked. He had to break the door to enter the house.

On getting inside, he met Mama Aghanya in the pool of her blood already dead. She was matcheted on the head severally by her attackers.

Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, March 13, said investigation is ongoing.

Retired DIG Aghanya was a one time Benue State Commissioner of Police and later DIG in carge of Zone 2. Before her death, his wife was the owner of Euniland Bread, Makurdi.

US singer Beyonce has broken the record for the most Grammy wins by any female artiste in the history of the Awards.



The American superstar first appeared on screen to accompany Megan Thee Stallion to the winners’ podium after their collaboration “Savage” won Best Rap Performance.

Beyoncé was mostly up there to smile at Megan and cheer her on. Still, host Trevor Noah butted in immediately after to note that with this win, Beyoncé had tied the record for most Grammy wins by a singer, male or female.

But of course, the night wasn’t over yet. Later on, Beyoncé made history when she won her 28th Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance with “Black Parade,” breaking the previous record set by Alison Krauss, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times and it’s been such a difficult time, so I wanted to uplift and encourage all of the beautiful black queens and kings who continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world,” Beyoncé said in her speech

She wasn’t the only member of her family to win a Grammy on Sunday, either. Her daughter Blue Ivy Carter became the second-youngest winner ever, at 9 years old, when the mother-daughter duo won Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl” which also features Wizkid during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony.

It was possible that Beyoncé could’ve added another win to her record, but she ultimately lost Record of the Year to Billie Eilish at the end of the night.
