One of the daughters of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hanan Buhari, is set to get married and the wedding is set to be organised inside the Aso Villa.

The marriage is set to happen on the 4th of September 2020, and has been dubbed “The First Wedding”.

According to Sahara Reporters, the groom is the son of a former lawmaker, Alhaji Mahmud Sani Sha’aban, who represented Zaria in the House of Representatives from May 2003 to May 2007.

it was also reported Aisha Buhari made a trip to Dubai last week to shop for things for the wedding of her daughter.

Sha’aban, the groom’s father is also a former governorship candidate.

Diego Simeone has admitted his team gave it everything and that he is convinced there was nothing more they could have done to qualify for the Semi-Finals of the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid were beaten 2-1 by RB Leipzig in Lisbon and Simeone despite the defeat couldn’t find a thing wrong with his team.

A primary school teacher in Ondo state, Omotayo Adanlawo, has been sentenced on Thursday to life imprisonment over the rape of a 10 years old girl.
The culprit Adanlawo, is said to have attended the same church with the victim’s father.

The state High Court in Akure, gave the sentence after it was confirmed the teacher had on August 28, 2018, raped the victim and threatened her not to tell anyone, if she didn’t want to die.

According to Sahara Reporters, he had lured the 10-year-old girl with 50 naira and chin chin, before abusing her in her family home.

Few months after the incident the victim had difficulties in walking and complained of stomach pain which led her parents to take her to a private hospital where it was confirmed she had been raped.

The case was first reported at Iju/Itaogbolu Police Division but later transferred to Ala Area Command in Akure.

Justice Samuel Bola, in his ruling, said the prosecution was able to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. He then sentenced him to life imprisonment.

While the residents of Agege are still grappling with the economic retrogression caused by Covid-19, the Lagos State government have demolished one hundred and fifty illegal shops, shanties, and kiosk at Masalashi Alhaja in Agege area of Lagos.

The demolition was done by the operatives of Lagos State Environmental and special offences Enforcement unit popularly known as Task force.

In a statement issued to Gistongist by the chairman of the agency, Mr. Olayinka Egbeyemi, the demolition exercise became imperative as miscreants and illegal traders in the area causes unending environmental degradation.

“The area has become an eyesore even the miscreants who lodge around the shops demolished poses a security threat to the residents of Agege”. – he said.

“The demolition of the shops, kiosk and shanties was done having notified the relevant stakeholders, including Sarki of Agege”. – Egbeyemi noted.

The Government of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has fired two principals from the Emuoha Local Government Area for breaching the COVID-19 guidelines.

The order for their termination of appointment was confirmed in a statement made by the State’s Commissioner for Education, Kaniye Ebeku.

It read, “This followed flagrant disobedience to the directives of the state government on the enforcement of all COVID-19 health guidelines in their various schools.

“The principals of the schools also converted to personal use, hygiene kits distributed by the state government for the cleaning of their schools,” the statement read in part.

Former Real Madrid manager, Fabio Capello has revealed it would be near impossible for his former side to overturn the 2-1 deficit they have against Manchester City, without captain Sergio Ramos.

Manchester United are finally fed up with the inconsistency of Jessie Lingard and are prepared to let the Englishman leave the club this summer, with the club ready to listen to offers for the player.

Former Real Madrid forward, Nicolas Anelka has blamed youth and inexperience for his failure to achieve much more while at Real Madrid.

He made this known in a new Netflix documentary titled Anelka; Misunderstood.

Young Anelka, was signed by Madrid from Arsenal in 1999 for 22 million pounds and great things were expected of the young French international, but things didn’t go according to plan as he failed to make much of an impact for the team.

He said, “Going back to training was really tough because the players were against me. A lot of them were out to get me on the pitch, but I came from England. I knew how to be physical. There were little fights and duels out on the pitch but everything fell back into place and got back to normal.”

The Lagos State government has announced the reversal of the 2018 Land Use Law, which increased the rate of Land use charge under the immediate past administration.

This development according to the state government is to address the agitations of Lagosians on the increment on Land Use Charge since it was introduced in 2018 and to reduce the financial pressure, the law brought on the masses.

Speaking at a media briefing covered by Gistongist, while unveiling the 2020 Land Use Reform, the Commissioner of Finance, Dr Rabiu Olowo said, “The reduction of the Land Use charge was a clear indicator that the Governor Babajide Sanwo- olu led administration is responsive to the yearnings of his people.

“Under the 2020 Land Use reform, a property owned and occupied by a pensioner is exempted from paying the Land use charge,” Olowo noted.

Authorities in Lebanon have revealed the cause of the Beirut explosion that claimed lives, injured many and destroyed properties.

According to the statement on Beirut twitter handle @Beirut.com, the blast was allegedly caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate.

The post read, “blast was caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely in a warehouse.

Despite the surge of Covid-19 in Lagos state, Amuwo Odofin local government is currently pack full with Lagosians as against the social distancing directive of the government.

Our correspondent who is present at the scene reports that the crowd comprises of elderly men and women who are said to be more vulnerable to Covid-19.

Speaking with Gistongist.com, the information officer of Amuwo Odofin Local Goverment Area, Akano Gloria spoke on why the LGA was full of Lagosians.

Akano said, "Less privileged within the Amuwo Odofin Local government area were asked to come and collect N10,000 to be given to them by the National cash transfer via the Lagos State government.

"In order not to further the spread of Covid-19, the beneficiaries were instructed to maintain social distancing but it met deaf ears".

As at the time of this reports, security operatives had calmed the crowd and the less privileged around the local government area.

They were given N10,000 each to start petty businesses to improve the standard of living for their families.

Medical Practitioner at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Dr. Oluwatoyin Gbadebo has warned that Hepatitis can cause Cancer.

Dr. Gbadebo gave the warning during an exclusive interview with Gistongist to mark this year’s World Hepatitis Day.

She said, “I think that everybody in the population shouldn’t wait till when you have those symptoms to know whether you have hepatitis, because at the point where you wait is when you realize that this hepatitis is already causing damage.

“Hepatitis can cause cancer. This is one virus that is a known cause of cancer because it is a progression. From hepatitis to Cirrhosis of the liver, which means that the liver is becoming thick. To Hepatocellular carcinoma, which means that the liver is now cancerous. So hepatitis B is a very dangerous disease. It should be prevented and everybody should be screened.” Dr. Gbadebo Warned.
