Buratai Lauds Allen Onyema On Air Peace's Inaugural Flight to London, Calls for Support.

The former Chief of Army Staff, His Excellency, Ambassador Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) CFR, lauded Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace Airlines for the successful inaugural Air Peace flight from Lagos to London.

In a statement, Buratai hailed the Chairman's unwavering commitment and patriotism amidst all obstacles on the Lagos - London flight by his airline on March 30th, 2024 which arguably crashed fares on the lucrative route by about fifty percent for the benefit of Nigerians.

According to Buratai, he saluted the courage and resilience of Onyema which has made him a barrier breaker and a line crosser in the aviation industry and whose triumphant launch of the inaugural Air Peace flight from Lagos to London has heralded a new era of competitive and accessible air travel for Nigerians.

He, therefore, implores the federal government and Nigerians in general to support him wholeheartedly and not let his efforts go down the drain like others in times past. According to him, in light of the interview by Allen Onyema on Channels TV Politics Today of 9 April 2024, detailing the challenges faced with both local regulators and British Airways authorities, it is clear that the support of our government is crucial as he is like the moon among the stars that needs the support and encouragement from all to shield him from all enemies of progress. Buratai admonished the British Airways authorities to show sportsmanship, maturity, and be fair to all airline operators plying the Abuja - London route. Buratai, while pleading with the BA authorities, he nevertheless urged the Nigerian Ministry of Aviation to apply a tit-for-tat approach, should BA or its agents remain recalcitrant in the face of the current challenges being faced by Air Peace in London Gatwick Airport.

Continuing, Buratai also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR led government for providing the platform for Chief Allen Onyeama to succeed in his patriotic endeavours and that Air Peace and its Chairman/CEO should be seen as Ambassadors of Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration

Politics / Naub: Mr President, Who Are Those Planning To Kill The Only Federal University by GlobalNews2020: 9:24am On Mar 03
NAUB: MR PRESIDENT, WHO ARE THOSE PLANNING TO KILL THE ONLY FEDERAL UNIVERSITY THAT DOES NOT GO ON STRIKE? By femi Oyewale

Higher education in Nigeria, quite frankly, is facing immense challenges including but not limited to poor infrastructure, unrealistic academic calendars resulting in extra years against stipulated durations, lack of teaching equipment, social menace, poor funding, amongst others.

Interestingly, Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB) is quite unique from other federal universities in the sense that since inception, there has not been any issue of strike, cultism, protest, or anti-social conduct.
Rather, the university is reputed for its excellent condition of learning environment.

This was aptly covered by the Governor of Borno State, H.E Professor Babagana Umara Zulum through his deputy during the maiden edition of the convocation ceremony of NAUB on Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at the University's main campus ( note not temporary campus within five years of existence) in Biu, Borno State.

The Borno State governor said he was physically present at the groundbreaking ceremony of the foundation laying stone of NAUB five years ago, and he is impressed by what he has seen adding that it must take military precision and focus to put in a full-fledged and functional university on a barren land in such a short period.

The Governor further thanked the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army, the traditional rulers, scholars and academics philanthropist, industrialists, associates and men and women of goodwill from within and outside Borno State for the selfless service of gradually re-modelling the future of Borno State in particular and Nigeria in general and for putting Borno State on the path of further greatness through the Nigerian Army university, Biu.

Why then do we plan to abort such a great independent institution of learning known as a barrier breaker and line crosser by merging it with NDA whose missions and visions are not in tandem with each other
Why cut short the dreams of such noble ideas via politics?

Are there those who do not want a stable educational system in Nigeria?
Are there external forces or their agents at home trying to destroy a good foundation for a stable educational system in Nigeria?
Is NAUB in competition with the private universities?
Are there big shots who benefit from a chaotic educational system in Nigeria?

Are there some subterranean forces working within the system to achieve the Boko Haram objective that "education is sin"?

The words of Governor Zulum rings a wise bell when he said that Boko Haram insurgents have achieved their objectives if the university is scrapped.

“Therefore, we appeal to Mr. President to look into this issue so that the Army University Biu would remain a university... because of the importance of education in this part of the country, where Boko Haram is saying that education is forbidden. And I think that by allowing this Army university to be scrapped, they might have achieved one or two of their objectives,” he said.

The governor noted that, for over a decade, Borno State has been facing a serious crisis that has denied many children access to education.

“Therefore, this university is very important to not only the people of Borno State but our neighbouring states,” he said.

Look at the Western countries that started with military polytechnics that propelled revolution in military equipment development.

Many of these developed countries collaborated jointly through civil-military research.

The Swedish Defence University established like NAUB is Sweden's leading resource in, and first choice for, education, training and research in the management of crisis, war and periods of tension in the leadership of both civil and military agencies. The Swedish Defence University is an accredited institution for academic education for military and civilian students and researchers where different experiences, approaches, and traditions come together. It has become a hub for both national and international students.

It might shock you to know that American Military University (AMU) and American Public University (APU). APUS is wholly owned by American Public Education, Inc., a publicly traded private-sector corporation that offers associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees, in addition to dual degrees, certificate programs and learning tracks.

During my NYSC, I served in the Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), Ilorin, which is a renowned military institution focused on providing high-quality education and training for Nigerian Army personnel and civilians. So why the proposed merger of NAUB?

Interestingly, the Nigerian Army University Biu provides such a platform for the Nigerian military towards technological innovation, research, and development in varied fields for national defence and security breakthroughs like many modern nations. In fact, instead of downgrading the Nigerian Army University, many more Army universities should be established in Nigeria. That is the way out for a caricature type of educational system that has failed to have stability over the years.

Who is not interested in seeing that a federal university graduates its students within the regular course time frame?

Must programmes of all federal universities be easily disrupted. A course of 4 or 5 years ends up taking over 6 to 7 years to complete. The worst part is that many universities end up in a crash programme to be able to cover up for the lost times. The terrible damage to these universities' products is the very low standard of graduates.

Who wants the Nigerian educational system to collapse completely? These are rhetorical questions the amiable president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all stakeholders should ask those proposing the merger to answer us publicly, else should let the matter die forever in the abyss of hasty decision.

Dangote: NANS Write President Tinubu Over mismanagement Of CTIN Funds (Video)

Open Letter To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR

Your Excellency sir.

Mismanagement and Lack of Transparency and Accountability in CTIN Funds Administration: A Call for Immediate Action:

We, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), being the voice and representatives of the Nigerian Students, a large percent of youth constituency of our population and by extension defender of oppressed citizens and advocate of the Nigerian masses, the bearers of our nation’s future and voice of the voiceless young generation.

Today we are raising our voices in protest, We are writing to you to express our deep concern and outrage regarding the mismanagement and lack of accountability within the Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria (CTIN), an organisation under Alh Aliko Dangote’s Leadership as pioneer and self imposed life Chairman.

The alleged misused, diversion and misappropriation of such strategic fund intended to provide training and development opportunities for Nigerian youth in the cement industry in line with the establishment goals of CTIN is a weighty one, in fact it's a future-threatening act and an act of economy sabotage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbht863TUPo?si=8IsQGFrr8lDsiq0F

Certainly, the fund has been squandered, leaving a trail of broken promises and shattered dreams as nothing can be pointed at as an achievement in this regard.

The situation of countless Nigerian youths, who remains unemployed and lacking technical skills in a rapidly advancing global economy like ours, is a harsh testament to the repercussions of such mismanagement and embezzlement. Another hidden factor responsible for the unprecedented hike in cement price in the country.

We are living in a country where our potential is suppressed and our future is uncertain courtesy of greed and selfishness of a microscopic few in position of authority, while leaders of our industries such as Aliko Dangote with such a special intervention fund failed to do the needful but rather enrich themselves by diverting such funds intended for our growth and development for only God and Dangote known purpose and use.

We demand answers, we demand accountability, we demand explanation and we demand justice.

1. In clear terms, We urge Mr President to issue a directive to Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to make public as a matter of urgency and national importance her role so far, the status, management, and usage of the over 20billion Naira (about $100 million as at then) contributed as levies on imported cement to CTIN for technical training purposes since over 10 years ago when Nigeria was still importing cement.

We know and we are fully aware nothing has been done with the fund in line with its purpose. This is money that should have gone to government coffers for investment in our vocational and technical education system.

Alh Aliko Dangote has been sole chairman since this institution was created by the Federal Ministry of Trade in conjunction with cement importers - hence why we are also demanding an explanation directly from Alh Aliko Dangote as to where is the said fund.

Your Excellency, to avert degeneration of this matter, where all Dangote industries will be occupied by Nigerian students nationwide, kindly advice Alh Aliko Dangote to immediately engage an external independent forensic auditor to audit the CTIN funds, and we also demand that anyone found guilty be held accountable for their actions.

We further demand swift action towards restructuring the leadership and governance of CTIN, nothing like life chairman, it should be democratic to prevent such overstay that is bringing severe mismanagement of what should be the People’s commonwealth from happening in the future.

We demand from Chairman CTIN Aliko Dangote , an explanation on his level of involvement as to what looks to the public as a mismanagement and misappropriation of the CTIN funds.

The Nigerian youth will no longer remain silent as our potential is suppressed and our futures are jeopardized by anyone.

This is not a plea for answers; this is a demand for accountability, transparency, justice and a rallying cry for all those who believe in Nigeria's potential and the rights of its youth to education, opportunity, and a fair shot at success.

We will not rest until every penny of the funds is accounted for, and until those responsible for this shameful betrayal of trust by hiding these funds and not using them for their right purpose, are held accountable publicly.

We will use every available platform and legal recourse to seek justice and ensure that such a breach of public trust never reocurs.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, CTIN members, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment, the Nigerian youth are waiting, and we demand your swift and thorough public response within seven days of publication of this letter.

Yours in solidarity,

President, National Association of Nigerian Students

Nigeria’s Quest for Glory: What the Super Eagles Need to Do to Lift the AFCON Trophy

A historic clash between two West African giants awaits in the final of the 2023 AFCON. Can Nigeria overcome Cote d'Ivoire and claim their fourth continental crown?

Introduction

Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire will face each other in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tonight, in what promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of the continent’s most successful teams. The Super Eagles are aiming to win their fourth AFCON title, while the Elephants are seeking their third. In this article, we will analyze how Nigeria can overcome the challenge of their West African rivals and bring the trophy home.

History and Rivalry

The history and rivalry between Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire in previous AFCON tournaments and other competitions is long and fierce. In fact, they have met seven times in the AFCON, with Nigeria winning four times, Cote d'Ivoire winning twice, and one draw. One of the most memorable matches between the two teams was the 1994 AFCON final, where Nigeria defeated Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 with goals from Emmanuel Amuneke and Rashidi Yekini. Another memorable match was the 2013 AFCON quarter-final, where Nigeria stunned Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 with goals from Emmanuel Emenike and Sunday Mba.

Form and Performance

The current form and performance of both teams in the 2023 AFCON has been impressive and consistent. According to the official AFCON website, Nigeria has scored 12 goals and conceded 4, while Cote d'Ivoire has scored 10 goals and conceded 3. The top scorer of the tournament is Nigeria's Victor Osimhen, who has netted 6 goals in 5 matches, followed by Cote d'Ivoire's Nicolas Pepe, who has scored 4 goals in 5 matches. Both players have expressed their confidence and determination ahead of the final. Osimhen said: "We are ready for the final. We have worked hard to get here and we want to make our country proud. We respect Cote d'Ivoire, they are a great team, but we are not afraid of them. We have the quality and the spirit to win the trophy." Pepe said: "We are motivated for the final. We have shown our strength and character in this tournament and we want to finish the job. We know Nigeria is a tough opponent, they have a lot of talent, but we have our own weapons and we will fight until the end. We have the experience and the ambition to win the trophy."

The current form and performance of both teams also reflect their strengths and weaknesses. Nigeria has a balanced and versatile squad, with players who can play in different positions and roles. They have a strong and solid defense, led by William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun, who have formed a reliable partnership at the back. They have a dynamic and creative midfield, with players like Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Joe Aribo, who can control the tempo and dictate the play. They have a fast and lethal attack, with players like Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Alex Iwobi, who can create and score goals from any situation.

Cote d'Ivoire, on the other hand, has a more experienced and star-studded squad, with players who have played in some of the top leagues and clubs in Europe. They have a physical and powerful defense, with players like Eric Bailly, Serge Aurier, and Wilfried Kanon, who can dominate the aerial duels and block the shots. They have a skillful and inventive midfield, with players like Franck Kessie, Jean-Michael Seri, and Max Gradel, who can dribble, pass, and shoot with flair. They have a potent and clinical attack, with players like Pepe, Wilfried Zaha, and Jonathan Kodjia, who can score goals from any angle and distance.

Strategies and Tactics

The possible strategies and tactics that Nigeria can employ to win the match are based on their strengths and the weaknesses of their opponents. Nigeria can use their speed and creativity to create chances and score goals against Cote d'Ivoire's defense, which has been prone to mistakes and lapses in concentration. A good example of this was Nigeria's 3-1 win over Cameroon in the quarter-finals, where Nigeria scored three goals in 15 minutes, thanks to the quick and clever movements of Osimhen, Chukwueze, and Iwobi. Another example was Nigeria's 2-0 win over Senegal in the semi-finals, where Nigeria scored two goals from counter-attacks, thanks to the pace and skill of Osimhen and Moses Simon.

Nigeria can also use their balance and versatility to adapt to different situations and scenarios in the match. Nigeria can switch between different formations and systems, depending on the scoreline, the momentum, and the opponent's tactics. For instance, Nigeria can start with a 4-3-3 formation, with Osimhen as the lone striker, Chukwueze and Iwobi as the wingers, Ndidi, Etebo, and Aribo.

Land Owners Cry Out To COAS As Soldiers Allegedly Take Over Epe Land

There is palpable fear, confusion, and tension in Lagos as some soldiers led by one Captain Sulaimon allegedly grabbed some acres of land forcefully from the rightful owners.

Family sources who squealed to us alleged that land grabbers connived with some soldiers from the engineering department of the Epe Command to harass, intimidate and oppress some land owners who acquired them from the Oyebola Royal Family along Epe Ketu Itokin road in Lagos.

According to our sources, they allegedly possessed about 1000 acres of land forcefully and claimed the land belonged to the Nigerian army dating years back. Sadly, aside name dropping the good name of General Lagbaja, they also brutalised passersby.

One of the family sources who spoke to us, Alhaja Atinuke appealed to the Nigerian Army and especially Lt. General Lagbaja to come to their rescue as his boys are perpetrating serious crimes in that axis using the Nigerian army as a cover up to work for land grabbers who has allegedly promised them over 100 acres of land at the end of the unholy acquisition.

“please help us. General Lagbaja should come to our aid. These soldiers are intimidating us. We have the documents of the land and didn't sell anything to any army. They are also name dropping with his name to harass and intimidate us. They have forcefully acquired our land from us. They came in last year saying the land belonged to them and they didn't buy any land from us at all. From our land they snatched over 600 acres. The soldiers are still there now,

When we contacted Captain Sulaimon, he denied it saying it's fallacy and that the army is an institution and he can't speak for the army as he is under authority.

We called the army spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu he neither picked call nor respond to our message for clarifications.

Politics / Why Ayedatiwa is the best man for the job, by Ajanaku by GlobalNews2020: 11:51am On Feb 10
Ondo Governorship Election: APC has not given Aiyedatiwa any special privilege

IDOWU AJANAKU, former Director of media and media for Akeredolu ,former Special Adviser to Governor Akinwumi Ambode , a close ally of President Bola Tinubu is from Idogun,Ose local government areas of Ondo State. In this interview, he speaks on the forthcoming governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Ondo State and why the issue of continuity should be taken into consideration.

The National Working Committee of APC had said there won't be any automatic ticket for all aspirants in the next gubernatorial primary schedule for April, including Governor Aiyedatiwa, does this not sound counterproductive?

There are 3 ways specified in the Constitution of the APC for choosing candidates for elective offices. The first is through Direct Primaries where every member of the party votes for the candidate of their choice; the second is through Delegates where elected delegates are the ones to vote in the primaries to choose the candidate for the office; and the third is through Consensus where there is only one candidate for the office or where all the candidates other candidates decide to step down for one of them.

The NWC of APC has not said anything to undermine anyone;they have only reiterated what is in the Constitution of the party that where there is more than one candidates there would be primaries election. This was done in Kogi recently, nothing they have said is new. You may also recollect that in 2020, the Late Arakunrin Akeredolu contested as a sitting Governor in the primaries to become the candidate of the party in that election. It cannot be counter-productive and cannot in anyway be to the disadvantage of any candidate.

Why should Aiyedatiwa be given special privilege over other contestants?

As far as I can see , no special privilege have been given to him by the National leadership but you can see that he is shoulder higher than all the other candidates in this contest.

The reasons are not farfetched. Ayedatiwa has been part and parcel of the vision of Akeredolu since 2012. He was involved in production and publicizing of the 5 point Agenda designated AKETI in the first attempt at the Governorship of Ondo State which did not succeed at that time. He never left the party. Even when he wanted to go the Senate in 2019 and the National leadership decided to return the sitting Federal Legislators he took it in good faith and did not follow the others who decided to run in the AA party against the APC. This is a testament to his consistency in the progressive fold.

In terms of experience he had served as Commissioner in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), a full-fledged Deputy Governor, an Acting Governor and now a sitting Governor. Who amongst the other contestant can parade such experience in governance, tell me?

It was reported that one of the aspirants said he wants to provide leadership for the party and the state. This is after becoming everything he wanted in the PDP! He had never been part of the progressive fold. Is it not the same person who in the full glare of the media in 2015 during the Presidential campaign for PDP,told the whole world that APC should be sweeping the country with their broom while PDP would remain in power? This is a fair weather politician who is neither here nor there but only constant in his thirst for power and cannot be trusted.

Another one who created a crisis in his party by holding parallel congresses and holding the candidate down in court until they lost the election and who has never been a part of the progressive fold is claiming to have the magic wand. The magic wand with which he had always ran anything he touches aground is not what Ondo state needs now.

This was the same man who went completely against the President and the party in the election for the Senate President. In fact he moved the motion for the nomination of the other candidate against the wish of the party leadership. How do you trust that kind of individual?

It is a fact that majority of the aspirants jostling for the APC ticket in Ondo State today are images of the PDP who used fake soldiers to drive out the progressive government under the leadership of Adefarati in 2003. They are the same people regrouping to steal the ticket of the APC to foster their conservative and reactionary ideals on the State reputed as the cradle of the progressive politics in Nigeria. APC cannot be deceived – the wind has blown and we have seen whatever they believed they were hiding!

Do you not foresee a scenario where other aspirants may work against the incumbent governor if he wins the primary?

At the end of the day when Ayedatiwa wins the ticket it will separate the wheat from the shaft. It is the shaft that would be blown away.

Do not forget that after the primaries, the candidate will become the candidate of the party and all the genuine members of the progressive stock in the State will work for his victory. Moreover, the man is already showing signs of good leadership and has demonstrated capacity for progressive ideas. He still has over seven months to further impress the people of Ondo State and deliver the dividend of democracy such that there would no reason why genuine members of the party and the people of Ondo State would not vote for him.

Here is a man who gave the members recognition for the first time since 2016 when he gathered them in a stakeholder forum recently. The members of the party were elated and joyous. It would be a pipe dream for anyone to think he would be able to rally such people against him after he has won the party’s ticket. They will only labour in vain. Mark my words when Ayedatiwawins the ticket of the party, he will win the governorship election by landslide God’s grace.

Aiyedatiwa runs a joint ticket with the late Governor RotimiAkeredolu, so the deceased governor was said to have governed Ondo State below the expectations. What then justified him to continue?

Everyone who wants to run for governorship in Ondo state hasbeen saying they are banking on what Akeredolu has done. One of the aspirants is even laying claim to be the anointed successor to Akeredolu even though he could not point to a single eye witness to corroborate his claim . He could not even remember the date he was told by the late Akeredolu according to him.Why are they trying to use his reputation of he has done nothing?

It is a notorious fact is that Akeredolu achievements in office cannot be wished away. You cannot wish away the formation of the Amotekun security force which he championed to stem the tide of the devilish move by killers herdsmen in Ondo State and the Southwest in general even at the risk of his second term ticket. He rose in defense of his people.

The Flyover at Ore is the first of its kind in the entire state. The dangerous Oke alabojuto at oka that has led to the death of many people was conquered by Akeredolu. The construction of many roads were started and completed across the state. It was rather unfortunate that the health challenge truncated his move for many more groundbreaking achievements that could have been recorded amongst which is the seaport for Ondo State and completion of many other road projects.

These achievements by the Akeredolu/Ayedatiwa government cannot be wished away. There is no way you can also write that history without recognising the supportive role that Ayedatiwaplayed as the Deputy Governor to Late Arakunrin Akeredolu. It cannot be an albatross but rather a blessing that Ayedatiwaserved meritoriously with Akeredolu to deliver the dividend of democracy to the Ondo State people within the resources available to them. He is justified to continue, to do better and also correct any perceived wrong that anyone may think of the past. He will be running the new regime with a huge benefit of hindsight that any other person cannot have.

One of the perceptions that may work against the incumbent is that of a traitor, won't this work against him?

The first question to ask those who are plying this narrative is whether they heard the Late Arakurin Akeredolu when he as Governor he made a public declaration and pronouncement the day they were sworn in? In the full glare of the public and the media he thanked him for his loyalty and declared him as his successor. How does this translate to betrayal?

There is no public evidence that Akeredolu ever changed his mind on his perception of the person of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa all through his lifetime. This brouhaha started the day he pronounced him his successor. The people who thought that they should have been the one to take Ayedatiwa’s place started working overtime from that moment trying to draw a wedge between them. They were the one who were peddling this false narrative to paint him in bad light.

Unfortunately the ill-health of Akeredolu provided the room for this cabal to hijack the system and even the man to the extent that they rendered him incommunicado in his last moment. They were the only ones that could see him and publish whatever they like. There was no time and evidence all through the time that Ayedatiwa ever came out to fight his boss.

When they met with the President, they could not provide any evidence to the claim that Ayedatiwa was working against the boss when they were asked for it. This was why they were unable to impeach him. The question of being a ‘traitor’ has no basis it only existed in the figment of the imagination of the cabals who thought Ondo State was in their pocket to plunder as they wish. They underestimated God.

Do you believe that zoning will work in favour of Aiyedatiwaboth in the primary and real polls?

The reality is that this was already an agreement by stakeholders that this should be zoned to the south. It was clear that after the 8 years of Mimiko from Ondo central, and Akeredolu from the North, it is only natural and just that the Governorship seat should go to Ondo South. This was the slogan during Akeredolu’s campaign for second term and that was why for the first time in the history of the state the progressive won in the enclave of the PDP in Ondo South overwhelmingly. It is also the reason why most of the aspirants are from Ondo South this time around.

Ayedatiwa is well-placed being from Ilaje in Ondo South, the area that lays the golden egg for the state. In terms of Zoning heis favoured and as the incumbent Governor, he has an edge over others.

The APC has a protocol and laid down procedure for choosing their candidates. They will not give their ticket to outsiders. I am talking as an insider with benefit of insight that there are certain prerequisite the APC has in choosing their candidates.

By April 17th, you will see the reality of all that I have said.

Again on loyalty, this Governor Ayedatiwa gave Akeredolu the first bullet proof vehicle when he was nominated as the Candidate of the Party in 2012.

Above all, I believe that there is a finger of God in Ayedatiwa’sascension to the office of Governor and this will also show in his subsequently getting the ticket of the party and winning the gubernatorial election in November this year.

Celebrities / Ogun Palliatives: Why I Lied Against Dapo Abiodun's Government (video) by GlobalNews2020: 6:52pm On Oct 08, 2023
Ogun palliatives: Why I Lied against Dapo Abiodun's Government (Video)

The man in the videos is Mr. Timothy Agboola, a Community Development Association (CDA) chairman in Mower area of Obafemi-Owode LGA, Ogun State.

The community leader has been trending on social media following an earlier online video he released where he picked holes in the palliatives being doled out by the state government through the LGA to the people of the council.

In the first video, Agboola claimed that a 10kg bag of rice was given to his CDA by the LGA to be shared among all the people in the community.

His complaint attracted widespread condemnations on social media with many wondering how such diminutive palliative will go round the multitude of community residents.

However, it turned out that Agboola had raised a false alarm. His claims in the first video weren't true at all. For a fact, he had wrongly portrayed the laudable palliative efforts of the state government.

According to Agboola himself in a second and third videos he released after the first one, he discovered he goofed in the first video as the 10kg bag of rice he displayed as announced was s meant for his entire community, was actually given to a widow as her own share of the palliatives.

As you can hear in the second and third videos, the CDA chairman, while pleading with all those who shared the first video to please help him to share the others, said he was misinformed, leading to the misleading video he rushed to release on social media.

"I regret making the video. I didn't mean to tarnish the image of the governments in Ogun state. The bag of rice I displayed on the bonnet of the car and said it was meant for the whole community was actually given to a member of the CDA as her own. It was not meant for the whole CDA as I claimed in the first video.

"Further investigation by me after the first video generated controversies revealed that many bags of rice have been shared in my community while I was away on a journey. The Muslim community already collected some. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) collected, artisan groups, women groups, youth groups, even the Baale and numerous other groups and persons were all given palliatives. It is part of these that the widow got her own bag.

"I sincerely regret making the first video. I was moved to do it by concern based on the misinformation I earlier got. I apologize seriously for this mistake and I warn those who are twisting the matter into something else to desist. The palliative arrangement in Ogun state is the best I have seen ever," he recanted.

Definitely, it is always better to look, before leaping. Mr. Agboola must have learnt a valuable lesson from his ordeal as a trending social media subject in the past week.

TB Joshua's Disciple, Evang. Joseph Officially Announces His Ministry In Mexico (Video)

Of a truth, the age of wonders is not over in our land as Jesus is still alive. One of the disciples of Jesus Christ carrying on his baton and mantle is Evangelist Joseph David.

Evangelist Joseph who is currently in Mexico has been manifesting the powerful unction of God upon his life and ministry to several believers over there with unusual signs, wonders, and miracles confirming his message.

His message is based on standing strong in faith amidst life's challenges. He said they are meant to shake us but not to destroy us.

He revealed that life is a journey and quoting TB Joshua, he said better is not good enough, the best is yet to come. He then declared that he found himself in Mexico, a country he never planned to be but God told him that was his place of assignment. Evang. Joseph was grateful to God for counting him worthy to be an Apostle of God to carry out his end-time agenda for the gospel starting from Mexico.

Continuing, he said before he left Nigeria, God spoke to him about revival in the Land of Mexico. Afterward, he officially announced the ministry God had given him, the ministry of evangelism. That's Bold Mission International Ministry.

Interestingly, Mexico became agog with shouts of revival as many deliverances, healings, and miraculous were witnessed during his ministrations.

Politics / KFP Frowns At Garus Gololo’s Outburst Against Buratai by GlobalNews2020: 11:59am On Jun 28, 2023
KFP frowns at Garus Gololo’s outburst against Buratai

Kalthum Foundation for Peace (KFP), a registered charity based in Nigeria that has collaborated with the military in the North-East in counterterrorism and Counter-insurgency operations through non kinetic approaches receives with great shock the unguarded outbursts of one Garus Gololo against Lt. General TY Buratai, the former Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian.

The Foundation in a statement issued to news men by its Chairperson and Founder, Amb. Ummu Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu stated that the foundation believes that there is no need to narrate what Mr. Gololo told the press he told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to tarnish the golden image of the former COAS because it is not certain if he was even granted the audience by the President.

“But be that as it may, KFP wants to set the record straight and make it abundantly clear that troops allowance and welfare under Buratai was at its peak and everything was done through the banks to block corruption. Similarly, former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR did his best to procure arms and all gears needed for the troops to checkmate the insurgents thus the victory Nigeria recorded under General Buratai as COAS”.

“This was acknowledged by the World Terrorism Index and other reputable international bodies.

General Buratai did not only ensure that troops’ allowance was paid as at and when due but also introduced cigarette allowance of N6000 monthly to them to boost their morale.

This is why the last time (early 2023)he was passing through Buniyadi, the troops forced him to stop to show their appreciation and solidarity to him. The video went viral wherein the troops referred to him “Baba oyo lyo.”

“We advised the public to disregard jobless and destructive minds like Gololo and their vindictive utterances because such people have no any moral compass. Certainly, Mr Gololo can not go to the North-East and say what he said here in Abuja to the press.

This is in no way an attempt to lobby for any appointment in the cabinet of President Tinubu for Buratai but to set the record straight and clear the name of a patriotic officer who gave in his best to stabilize the North-East.

It is up to the president to do whatever he thinks is best and right for the country. It is his prerogative to work with whom he wishes”.

Politics / Report On Ongoing Court-martial Trial Of Major General Um Mohammed By Sahara Rep by GlobalNews2020: 3:00pm On May 14, 2023
REPORT ON ONGOING COURT-MARTIAL TRIAL OF MAJOR GENERAL UM MOHAMMED BY SAHARA REPORTERS IS A CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY

The Army Headquarters has noted yet another ill-conceived report by Sahara Reporters on a sub-judice and ongoing Court Martial process of Major General UM Mohammed, the erstwhile Group Managing Director (GMD) Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL), who was indicted by a military police investigation and recommended for trial.

It is expedient to clear the air on the despicably false report and calculated attempt to cast aspersion on the ongoing Court Martial, which has already progressed to an advanced stage, as the prosecution has put forward the evidence against General Mohammed and closed its case. The accused senior officer has opened his defence and is testifying as Defence Witness One (DW1).

For the avoidance of doubts, without being sub-judicial, the former GMD NAPL is facing trial in relation to alleged offences of theft of various sums of money belonging to NAPL and forgery. These are all acts declared as offences punishable under the provisions of various extant penal Laws in Nigeria.

To set the records straight, upon investigation and indictment of the accused senior officer by military police investigations, the Army Headquarters convened a Special Court Martial to try the Senior Officer as a procedure to legally recover the sums of money he allegedly fraudulently acquired from the coffers of NAPL during his tenure as GMD. The details of the outcome of the Court Martial will be provided at the end of the Court Martial proceedings.

However, it is instructive to point out, that Court Martial trials are lawfully provided in the Armed Forces Act (AFA) as one of the disciplinary tools in the Armed Forces. The Court of Appeal and Supreme Court have in multiple instances validated the procedures, findings, and sentences of Court-martial. Court Martials like all other criminal trials are held in the open. The trial of Major General UM Mohammed is taking place at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess, Asokoro Abuja and not shrouded in secrecy as being wrongly insinuated. The trial has been open and the Defence has presented adequate representation in court. The accused senior officer’s family members, friends, and associates attend and observe the Court proceedings till date, without hindrance.

It is factual that Maj Gen UM Mohammed ought to have proceeded on retirement, however, provisions of the Armed Forces Act (specifically Section 169) permits the retention in service of such a personnel, who has pending disciplinary case(s) to allow extant legal processes.

Furthermore, it is also a fact that members of the Special Court Martial trying Maj Gen Mohammed are all junior to him. This is permissible in special circumstances, as the Armed Forces Act provides for this contingency in Section 133(7), where the Convening Officer is required to obtain the consent of an appropriate superior to appoint any such officers as members of the court. The requisite consent was obtained before convening the Special Court Martial trying the accused senior officer.

It is worthy of note that General Mohammed is being defended by a legal team comprising 2 Senior Advocates and 6 lawyers, including a retired military officer. He is currently being detained at a military location purpose-built for such detention, where the rights and well-being of such detainees are given prime consideration. Though at the onset of the trial, Maj Gen Mohammed requested to be granted bail inter-alia on health grounds, the Court in considering the bail application, took cognizance of the humongous amount of monies allegedly stolen in the indictment, which could encourage the accused senior officer to abscond. The Court therefore, declined the application for bail. The Court however, granted visitation rights to some family members, including his two wives, son, daughter, and brother as requested by the accused officer. These persons have been visiting him regularly at the detention facility.

On the issue of the accused senior officer's health; as with all other Court Martial trials, Maj Gen Mohammed’s state of health is examined daily to determine his fitness to stand trial before the commencement of proceedings for the day. The holding facility where he is detained is serviced by the Army Command and NAOWA Hospital and these medical facilities are open to him whenever required.

It is crucial to state clearly, that it is inappropriate and amounts to unlawful interference with the administration of justice to peddle inaccurate reports and comments on a matter currently under judicial adjudication (sub-judice). All the statements reported to have been made about certain persons and funds disbursement were made in the course of the trial by a witness in the defence of his case. We shall therefore not comment on those statements to maintain the sanctity of the trial and its outcome.

Sahara Reporters is enjoined to practice responsible journalism and refrain from subjective, inaccurate, and inappropriate reporting of matters currently sub-judice.

Ozekhome Confirms Prophet Kingsley’s Prophetic Warning On Kanu

Interestingly,Mike Ozekhome, SAN, the lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu has said there was a need for his clients to have access to quality medical attention, lamenting that his health has deteriorated badly.

Ozekhome who spoke at the Supreme Court yesterday told the court that though Kanu was earlier scheduled to undergo surgery, the DSS, on FG’s instruction, refused to release him to go for the medical operation.

His statement tallies with the prophet\ic declaration of Prophet Kingsley Aitafo during his yearly prophetic releases.Among his numerous predictions for the year of which many have come to pass, he said, ‘ the Igbo agitator should be prayed for, so that he will not die in detention”

As a fulfilment of his prophecy, Ozekhome spoke as the Supreme Court, yesterday, adjourned to September 14, the appeal seeking to compel the Federal Government to release the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention to avert his demise.

A five-member panel of the apex court headed by Justice Inyang Okoro adjourned the matter on a day that Kanu, through his team of lawyers led by Mike Ozekhome, SAN, drew attention to an application he filed to be transferred from custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, to Kuje prison.

The senior lawyer said he was afraid that his client may die in detention if urgent steps were not taken to grant him access to quality healthcare.

“My lords, it is only the living that can stand trial,” Ozekhome, SAN, pleaded as he urged the apex court to hear his client’s two pending applications.

Politics / NDDC Conundrum: More Questions Than Answers! By Ayo Oyoze Baje by GlobalNews2020: 5:28pm On May 12, 2023
NDDC Conundrum: More Questions than Answers!
By Ayo Oyoze Baje

Quote:
“It is shocking that after the FEC, the highest ruling body in the country, had awarded a contract for the same project in 2021 at the sum of $11.7 billion for the construction of same Mega railway spanning through the length and breadth of the Niger Delta, that anyone would be signing an MOU on behalf of the NDDC and the Federal Government of Nigeria for the same project in 2023 without due process”

- Ms Lauretta Onochie (Chairman of the NDDC governing board)

As with running the lives of individuals, there is always a difference between motive and method for that of conducting the affairs of public and private organizations. The facilitating factors that come into play; to oil the engine of growth and drive such dreams to the light of day are predicated on vision, character, commitment and of course, accountability.
Whenever one or more of such catalysts are lacking, the process is derailed, leading of course, to preventable pains of those who are supposed to benefit from it all. And that precisely is what has played out with the noble objectives of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

It would be recalled that the Niger-Delta Development Commission (Establishment etc) Act2000 Act No 6 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria came as an Act to provide for the repeal of the Oil, Mineral Producing Areas Commission Decree 1998. Among other things, it was meant to establish a new Commission with a re-organised management and administrative structure for more effectiveness.

Furthermore, it was meant for the use of the sums received from the allocation of the Federation Account for tackling ecological problems which arise from the exploration of oil minerals in the Niger-Delta area and for connected purposes. That came into effect on12th day of July 2000.

Unfortunately, the noble aims and objectives of its coming into effect under the then President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo had over the years got de-branded with the issues of corruption, incompetence and gross mismanagement of its resources. Terribly bad, you might say!

But it even got worse when it had no Board to effectively run its affairs for six odd years! By law it was supposed to be under the presidency. The change in the narrative however, came when former governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio became the Minister of the Niger-Delta. It was he who appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to place the NDDC under the Ministry of the Niger-Delta.

Ever since, it has been mired in one steamy scandal, controversy or the other. That was what necessitated the setting up of a forensic audit by the president to take a deeper look into the conduct of its financial transactions.

Interestingly, that opened up the can of worms with the alleged discovery of monumental corruption as 320 illegal accounts-both local and international- were traced to the Ministry by the forensic audit. That was in 2021 when the Report was submitted to Mister President.

Ordinarily, oil companies operating in Nigeria are supposed to pay 3% of their running costs to the NDDC but going by the allegations of corruption Buhari ordered that such sums should be collected by the EFCC. Other reports revealed that within that period it collected a whopping N710 billion on behalf of NDDC!

Buhari was compelled, in his characteristic manner of transparency and probity to come up with the appointment of someone of proven integrity; someone with a proud pedigree of discipline; who attaches little value to material things. There comes in Ms Lauretta Onochie on whose behalf the president wrote to the Senate for confirmation back in November 2022.

Having worked with Mister President for seven good years, which provided him with the opportunity to study her true persona he knew that she was going to toe the path of honour and honesty. And that she did when during the first meeting of the NDDC Board it was mutually agreed that financial transactions must be approved by her person, as the Chairman for accountability and transparency.

In addition, such financial transactions were to be communicated to the CBN, the Accountant General’s Office and of course, the Minister of Finance. But the MD of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku was vehemently against that significant decision.

Furthermore, he wrote a letter to counter the decision insisting that the status quo should remain. That audacious attempt to shake the NDDC table triggered some burning questions. Is it true, as alleged that the humongous sum of N50 million is always paid for trips made by the trio of the Managing Director of the NDDC, the Director of Finance as well as Projects for assignments carried out outside Port Harcourt? Is it also true that the monthly running cost has been increased from N6bn to N10bn? Yet, that was not all to it.

Why would contractors be paid huge sums from the public purse without the knowledge of the NDDC Board but with payments approved by the head of the former interim management? Why were the Board Members from Abia and Bayelsa states the ones to benefit from payments? And why are the NDDC Board members not given official vehicles? There was certainly more to it all than met the eye!
In fact, the last straw that broke the camel’s back in the cat-and-mouse game between the Minister of the Niger Delta and the Onochie-led Board of the NDDC came to the fore when the former went ahead to host the PPP Summit recently held at Eko Hotel in Lagos state without the approval of the latter!
Worse still, it went on to sign an MOU with an American company, Atlanta Global Resources Inc., which according to Onochie has no requisite experience in any form of construction, not to talk about railway construction! Onochie stated that the company in question is a management export consulting firm without known directors!
Describing the MOU as illegal she quoted that: “(a) By the act establishing the NDDC (Act No 6, of 2000), it is the Chairman of the board that is solely vested with the power to sign MOUs with any organisation. She added Part II of the NDDC Act, Section 8, sub sections (a) and (e), among other provisions,.

The Chairman of the PPP Board Gbenga Edema who hails from Ondo state is also a Commissioner with the board. Though he was supposed to report to the Board, he was allegedly ignored by the management.
Subsequently, all these shenanigans have dovetailed into the call by her traducers for Onochie’s removal from office. And that is all because she is firmly standing on her ground, insisting that she does not want the smelly Augean stable to remain in its mess!
Indeed, she reminds one of the late DG of NAFDAC, Prof. Dora Akunyili who epitomized diligence to duty, discipline and strict adherence to the dictates of the law. Characteristic of her resolute stand, she wants things done within the ambit of the law, no matter whose ox is gored!

Unfortunately, the face-off has led to a situation whereby not much has been achieved by the NDDC in the past six months. The NDDC Executive Director Finance and Administration, is Maj-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd), while the Executive Director, Projects is Mr. Charles Ogunmola. The Minister of the Niger Delta is Umanna Umanna.

So, while the elephants fight it is the hapless and long-suffering Niger-Deltans that continue to stew in the quagmire of preventable pains and poverty.
The clarion call has therefore, come up by concerned Niger Deltans for President Buhari to do the needful, even in his last days in office. They are urging him to amend the Act, If possible, issue out an executive order to correct the anomalies and check mate the financial reckless of the Ogbuku-led management. That is, by giving executive powers to the Chairman of the Commission, similar to what OMPADEC had in place before it was dissolved.

With that, the incoming government will have an enabling legal environment to facilitate a holistic development of the oil-rich Niger Delta, so that the goose that lays the golden egg is effectively taken good care of.

BURATAI: Sahara Reporters Stop this campaign of calumny, Defend Yourself in court

It is indeed saddening when the purveyor of truth has become a willing tool for falsehood and fabrication of lies to deceive the general public. This is not unconnected to the ugly trend that Sahara Reporters has become a vehicle for deception by faceless individuals whose aim is to tarnish the image of credible individuals and organisations.

Sadly, a report that has been in public domain since June/July 2022 about the failed attempt by Sahara Reporters to lie against the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (retd.) over the ICPC raid of a building in Abuja was repackaged by the medium today.

Interestingly, the report in July 2022 was punctured by even ICPC and the glaring truth exonerated Buratai that he was never a part of the whole saga.

Consequently, the former Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (Rtd) in July, 2022 gave Sahara Reporters a seven day ultimatum to retract and apologised publicly over the injurious, defamatory and fabricated lies against him.

Buratai gave the ultimatum in a letter to the newspaper and signed by his counsel led by Dr. Reuben Atabo, SAN.

In the letter, Buratai also demanded a public apology from the media outfit over the fabricated story.

He decried that very serious allegations that were levelled against him in the report, which he said was capable of brewing hatred and attack by the public against him, has caused him great embarrassment.

The notice, read: “We refer to your publication dated 23rd day of June 2022 with the caption: ‘EXCLUSIVE: Anti-graft Agency, ICPC Uncovers Billions In Cash Meant For Arms, Ammunition To Fight Boko Haram In Abuja Home Of Ex-Chief Of Army Staff, Buratal.’

“In the said publication, you alleged that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) had recovered N1.85 billion from a house and office said to belong to our client.

“It was further reported by you that ‘the huge cash was part of the billions of naira earmarked for the purchase of arms and ammunition by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.’

“This is a very serious allegation capable of brewing hatred and attack by the public against our client as a former Chief of Army Staff.

“There is no doubt that Nigerians are seriously concerned about the security situation of the country and the said publication has portrayed our client as a person responsible for diversion of funds meant for the fight against Boko Haram.

“Consequently, our client has been exposed to hate, ridicule and embarrassment from members of the public with his friends calling him from different parts of the world to ask for explanations.

“The publication is not only false but malicious and an attempt to malign the reputation of our client.

“Our client, who is the current Ambassador to Benin Republic, rose through the ranks and became a Lieutenant General in the Nigerian Army before his retirement in the year 2021.

“Our client, who was also a former Chief of Army Staff from July 2015 to 2021 has taken the battle against insurgency to the field with enormous energy and resources as well as loss of field officers.

“By your publication, our client has been ridiculed as a man without honour, dignity and incapable of representing Nigeria and portrayed as a fraudster/ dishonest person before Nigerians and the international community.

“We hereby demand that you retract your publication with a public apology to our client within seven days of receiving this letter and a public apology to be published in two national dailies in Nigeria.

“Take notice that if you fail, neglect and/ or refuse to publish the apology within seven from today, we shall not hesitate to commence legal action against your organisation for defamation.

“It is hoped that you would comply to avoid the unpleasantness of litigation and its attendant consequences.”

Therefore, it's funny that rather than answering the charges of 2022 against him in court, Sahara Reporters and his faceless sponsors made another failed attempt today to repackage an old lie and fabrication.

Seriously, if Sahara Reporters and his evil sponsors have nothing to hide they should clear their names in court and stop playing to the gallery. It's an old trick that is no longer working. Leave Buratai alone and defend yourself in court.

Binani’s Victory Assured With REC Ari’s Submission, Election Petition Tribunal Preparations – Political Pundit

By Adamu Muhammad Dodo

Countryside is cool… good, with or without electricity, life, like those inclined to romanticism in poetry, is rural, homely, simple and breathtakingly beautiful with natural endowment, providing genuine rather than artificial fresh-air, especially, as the rainy season sets in. Some farmers commended the Most Distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani’s free fertilizer intervention without executive-extortion in the name of subsidy, with other farming tools they have benefited, revealing how they fulfilled their part of the promise to vote for her as A Governor and The Governor and Tinubu as A President and The President overwhelmingly when she toured with her campaign train across the state, touching their ground; how they wished away any inducement to have dissuaded them from doing the futuristic needful; refused to be deceived by the ethno-religious and disgusting gender propaganda, arguing that the Binani instructional materials that the students and pupils in public schools are being denied the use thereof, lest the school administrators lose their jobs, were not distributed only to pastoralists and/or pupils in schools professing the same faith with Binani, the same way was the assessment of her skills acquisition schemes and social welfare packages that the state government has not considered it worthy for the citizenry, or so is the point they would put across of their believability.

Binani is a Muslim and some Muslim preachers were said to be commissioned to pass verdict forbidding A Woman and The Woman from being elected A Governor and The Governor. Why should the electorates of other faith not reflect on this? They would put in expostulation.

“We can’t betray by mortgaging our conscience, see the borehole over there, it is not meant for a people of particular tribe or religion, Binani built it not for her but for our use, same as the blocks of classrooms and the hospital she built and fully equipped. We’re sure that she’ll employ enough workers, provide enabling environment and necessary welfare for them to be of good service manning the hospital and running the school than running away from teaching when she’s made the Governor,” the confident, hopeful natives would say.

They would hope that Binani’s mandate would not be stolen as much as they would want to have explained the objective position of the incorruptible REC Hudu Yunusa Ari they joined in considering as the electioneering hero while condemning the conference of the corrupt and the convener of the conspiracy should it have held nowhere as much as violence instigated victory celebration, burning prayer rugs beads, khimar and kettles for ablution.

The mission to the countryside was to authenticate the list of the beneficiary families ahead of the Eid-El-Adha, to come few days after the swearing in, heralding new government.

I was being commissioned by the international body for which I form part of the membership, to identify, should I say the most economically or financially disadvantaged? to the point of being considered ignored families, whom smiles could be put on their faces by providing required animals for slaughter on Eid day or donating financial equivalent.

As one sympathetic to Ironism as a philosophy championed by Richard Rorty, I gradually develop a continuing doubts over my final vocabulary and convinced by other people’s final and deemed as superior vocabulary, what would be my considered contributions to the questions thrown?

On REC Hudu Yunusa Ari, I would explain from other person’s considered convincing superior vocabulary that rather than being arrested, Hudu honoured the Interpol’s invitation and must have made valuable contributions to the investigative conversation, with his consistent reasons for declaring Binani as the winner of the 2023 Governorship Election in Adamawa state and that since he was not arrested along with other INEC officials equally invited, Hudu must have been excused to go home and wait for the outcome of the invention, against the insinuation that he was stripped of his fundamental human rights, when he didn’t receive the libellous N2 billion bribe for declaration from either of the governorship candidates. He didn’t molest by dehumanizing INEC Commissioner as much as he didn’t humiliate to the point of death a security personnel to have been in detention till after investigation that some section of the media would rather kill the story.

On the issue of the legal status of the Governor-Elect in Adamawa state, I simply adopted one’s final vocabulary I consider superior that Fintiri is by the Officials of INEC, disqualifying REC Ari’s, declared GOVERNOR-ELECT. But he is not yet 2023 Governor

It isn’t automatic that he woul form the next government. He has a serious case in tribunal that could go either way.

The tribunal could stop the inauguration before May 29, 2023

The law that gives INEC power to make a declaration equally gives the judiciary the power to reverse it. There’s is no constitutional duty to inaugurate on May 29 if a declaration is legally challenged as it is.

There is no fait accompli about the situation. Some use of language can create a false narrative where some people could be thinking that a declaration by INEC no matter how wrong it is, constitutes a new government. No! It doesn’t, until the final court says so.

The point therefore, as another persons final vocabulary, considered by the Ironist inclined as fascinating as superior would express, “Binani’s victory is rest assured In God’s Name, with REC Ari’s submission and the Election Petition Tribunal Preparations…”

Politics / Hudu Saved Inec From National Embarrassment by GlobalNews2020: 2:45pm On Apr 23, 2023
HUDU SAVED INEC FROM NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT

For about one week now, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, attracted the news headlines for declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Dahiru Binani, the winner of the supplementary governorship election.

While Hudu's action under the circumtance is seen by many Nigerians, including lawyers, as legal and within his powers as the State's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), the PDP and INEC questioned his authority.

For those who are condemning Hudu's action, I dare say that the REC saved INEC from a repeat national embarrassment of the Commission in the 2019 governorship election of the same Adamawa state.

Just like in 2023, INEC declared the 2019 governorship election inconclusive. INEC embarrassed itself when the returning officer (Prof. Andrew Haruna) in the 2019 governorship declared the election inconclusive by relying on the provision of the number of registered voters (40,988) being higher than the margin of lead(32,476 votes) by one of the candidates not to declare a winner or make a return.

With the use of PVC as the only identity of a voter to be eligible to vote, INEC ought to have relied on the number of PVCs collected out of the registered voters of 40,988 in the polling units where the election did not hold or was canceled. The number of PVCs collected out of 40,988 registered voters, which INEC ought to have relied upon to arrive at the right decision in the 2019 governorship election, was 31,027.

What this means is that the 2019 governorship election should not have been declared inconclusive by INEC since the margin of lead was 32,476 while the PVCs collected for the rerun were 31,027. Yet INEC went ahead to conduct a rerun election when the number of eligible voters (with PVCs) for the election was less than the margin of lead in the election.

The Commission's flawed judgment cost the federal government human and material resources that were avoidable. A later amendment to the Electoral Act is the result of INEC's embarrassment in handling the 2019 Adamawa governorship election.

It is a repeat of this national embarrassment by INEC in the 2019 governorship in the Adamawa state that Hudu wanted to avoid in the 2023 election by being proactive and decisive. Like in 2019, there was no reason to have declared the 2023 election inconclusive if the issue of the multiple results from Fufore was courageously resolved.

Reports had it that the result that was used by the returning officer to declare the governorship election inconclusive was one of the multiple results from Fufore. It was the result that was allegedly declared under duress by the electoral officer. Agents of the state government along with security agents were said to have laid siege on the INEC office of the Fufore Local Government and forced the electoral officer to declare the result that was eventually used by the state returning officer.

A rerun election was ordered. Hudu knew very well that a particular authentic result from Fufore that would have brought the election to a conclusion was ignored. Hudu could not have stopped the rerun election after it was pronounced by the returning officer.

However, the REC, as a lawyer, located his powers under Section 149 of the Electoral Act and decided to act even before the end of the collation of the results of the rerun election. He used the correct result from Fufore, which showed that Sen. Binani won the election with 428, 173 votes against her opponent's 422,303 votes.

Like in 2019, if the correct thing was done, the 2023 governorship election wouldn't have been declared inconclusive. Hudu is the hero and not the villain in the 2023 Adamawa Governorship election. We expect INEC to take a look at the role of RECs as the State Chief Returning Officer in the governorship election.

Atiku, Boss Mustapha Worked Against Binani; They Want To Suspend Her From APC – Hon. Usman

The Director, Binani Campaign Council, Honourable Musdapha Usman, has revealed how the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha (CFR), worked against the emergence of Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru (Binani) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the April 15 supplementary election in Adamawa State.

Usman had said, "She contested election with former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; she contested election with Boss Mustapha SGF; because all of them have worked against Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani. Even right now, they are sponsoring to suspend her from the party so that she cannot have right to challenge the victory of Fintiri."

(Forward video to 10:08)

The former lawmaker, who appeared on Arise Television, said his principal did not contest against Governor Ahmadu Fintiri alone but also against Atiku Abubakar and Boss Mustapha. According to him, the Adamawa bigwigs have worked against the former lawmaker to ensure that she did not win the April 15 supplementary election.

Honourable Usman also hinted that the battle has not ended after he revealed a purported plot to suspend Binani from the APC. He said the move was to ensure that she did not challenge the victory of Governor Fintiri.

Business / The Ethnic Business Awards' Second Edition Holds On Independence Day by GlobalNews2020: 10:34am On Apr 12, 2023
The Ethnic Business Awards' Second Edition Holds On Independence Day

The organisers of the Ethnic Business Awards-TEBA has began preparations for the sophomore edition of the laudable event aimed at honoring foreigners and migrants community in Nigeria.

According to Tunde Moshood, Convener of the awards ceremony, this year's show holds at the prestigious Oriental hotel, Lekki Lagos on Nigeria's Independence Day, Sunday October 1st, 2023.

In a World Press Conference attended by major radio and broadcast stations, the organisers disclosed that the amazing figures of foreigners and their economic contributions to the nation informed the need for the award celebration.

Below is the full texts of the press briefing that held at Oriental hotel Lekki Lagos on Thursday April 6th, 2023, "Let us quickly tell you about the project and why each and everyone of us should not just embrace the idea, but to support it in our own little way. This is because we feel there's an urgent need for us Nigerians to recognize, honour, appreciate and reward migrants community in Nigeria. You'll all agree with us that, most of the awards projects are geared towards eulogising ourselves, we mean just Nigerians without recourse to considering the migrants community.

So it is in this regard that the Ethnic Business Awards debuted in 2020, it is designed as an annual event but the fears and jitters left behind by hurricane Coronavirus Desease a.k.a Covid19 hampered the project's immediate continuity. Just like the maiden event, the sophomore edition holds at same place, the prestigious Oriental hotel, Lekki Lagos on Sunday, October 1st, 2023.

For us, The Ethnic Business Awards is a Corporate Social Responsibilty, our own way of giving back to our guests, our idea of celebrating foreigners, those foreign businesses, diplomatic missions and migrants community for their unflinching support and contributions to the Nigerian economy.

In the year 2020, the official statistical figure of international migrants in Nigeria was given as 1.3m, though debatable, and that's just a rough estimate. With that figure, Nigeria has, the largest migrants' population in Africa and I think the seventh largest in the world.

This amazing population and their outstanding achievements therefore necessitate the need to appreciate and reward the heroic contributions of these foreigners in the Nigeria's business arena. It will interest you to know that, the loyalty of foreigners in the business circuit is so impressive that, we now have different communities springing up ethnic markets, restaurants and multinational companies. A typical example is the China Town and other ethnic markets/restaurants spanning across Nigeria and so on. By and large, in terms of economic contributions, foreigners share a chunk percentage of the labour market both in the auto world, and manufacturing, with imposing presence in oil, banking, communications and white collar jobs.

The Aims and Objectives

Some of the reasons this idea was convened are;

To bring together migrants community with a view to celebrating their sense of unity and economic contributions
To strengthen the mutual relationships between migrants community and host country
To recognise and reward entrepreneurial spirits amongst migrants and ethnic personalities in Nigeria
To appreciate the economic importance and contributions of foreigners in Nigeria
To highlight the benefits of diversity in ensuring sustainable economies, nurturing innovation and accelerating productivity growth to further secure the future of the Nigerian States.

The Project's Concept

We shall be researching and appreciating promising and established foreign companies, migrants community and ethnic individuals of sterling qualities, they will be identified and grouped into different categories via a public opinion poll, research and consultations for the purpose of the awards ceremony/presentation· The evening is designed to be a fusion of multi-ethnic fashion, dance, music and comedy.
The Ethnic Business Awards are a testament and celebration of Nigeria's multifarious business people. The project is basically targeted at ethnic personalities, groups, corporate firms, and loyal migrants who now see and call Nigeria homes, and who have evolved their lives to contribute to its business landscape.

The Awards Categories

We have created categories like The Ethnic Man Of The Year.
This award goes to an outstanding migrant/naturalized male who aside being an employer of labour or business leader has also built a rapport and contributed to other communities most especially the host society. There's also The Ethnic Woman of The Year who'll be considered worthy of the memento in the same vein.

Other categories are Auto Company of The Year, Ethnic Financial Institution of The Year, Household Appliances Company of The Year, Electronics Company of The Year, Ethnic Group of The Year among others. There are also categories like Special Recognitions in various fields and so on.

Business / Forbes Releases Comprehensive 2023 World Billionaire Rankings As Three Nigerians by GlobalNews2020: 7:12pm On Apr 05, 2023
FORBES RELEASES COMPREHENSIVE 2023 WORLD BILLIONAIRE RANKINGS AS THREE NIGERIANS - DANGOTE, RABIU, ADENUGA, MAKE THE LIST

Forbes has released its comprehensive list of world's billionaires for 2023. The list, which came out Tuesday, April 4th, with 2460 individual billionaires globally, has a couple of surprises. This is more so since the last year has been full of falling stocks, wounded unicorns and rising interest rates which translated into a down year for many of the world's richest people. The 25 richest people in the world are worth a collective $2.1 trillion, down a combined $200 billion from $2.3 trillion in 2022.

Luxury goods tycoon Bernard Arnault‘s net worth surged by $53 billion to $211billion dollars since last year, a bigger gain than anyone on the planet, to climb to the number one spot for the first time ever on the rise of share in his company, LVMH. Former world’s richest man, Elon Musk, slipped to second position after his worth reduced by $39billion due to his purchase of social messaging g app, Twitter.

One of the surprises however is the rise of BUA Group chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu. From 7.6Billion Dollars a few months ago, the Billionaire businessman and philanthropist's rating in Forbes billionaires list has again shot up towering many to become the 249th richest person in the world and closing in on overtaking the third richest man in Africa, Nicky Oppenheimer who stands at 8.4billion Dollars. Rabiu's latest worth is put at 8.2billion dollars. From 1.6billion Dollars in 2019, Forbes recorded that by 2022 his net worth was at 6.9billion dollars and from there has jumped to 8.2billion Dollars in April 2023.

62-year old Abdul Samad Rabiu is essentially into cement and sugar as well as real estate and is building sub-saharan Africa’s second largest refinery and petrochemicals plant in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.

Meanwhile Aliko Dangote has retained his position as the wealthiest person of African descent in th e world. After climbing to 14billion Dollars in 2022, his wealth is estimated to be around 14.2billion Dollars as at the reports released on Tuesday April 4, 2023.

He is presently the 125th richest man in the world and he is easily the largest cement producer in Africa. He also has his hands in other businesses including pastries, sugar and other areas of manufacturing.

For Mike Adenuga, the third Nigerian on the African billionaire's list, business has not been cosy. He dropped from 7.3billion Dollars in 2022 to 6.1billion dollars. The last couple of years have seen him move up and down the wealthiest' scale. He's now the 418th richest in the world at 58.

These are the only three Nigerians that made the list.
One other surprise name on the list however is 90-yr old Nathan Kirsh from tiny African Country of Swaziland. He is said to worth 6.5billion dollars, thus becoming the 6th ranked African billionaire, now above Mike Adenuga. He is believed to be into real estate retail and fashion.

It was the first time he would be featured as an African billionaire.

Methodology: According to Forbes, their 'World’s Billionaires list is a snapshot of wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 10, 2023. Some people become richer or poorer within days of publication. We list individuals rather than multigenerational families who share fortunes, though we include wealth belonging to a billionaire’s spouse and children if that person is the founder of the fortune'.

'For non-founders, we previously listed couples and family members together in certain cases; this year, we separated these shared fortunes into individual list members, marked “split family fortune.” For Russian billionaires, fortunes were calculated using ownership structures from February 2022, prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and before many made transfers of assets to managers, friends and others in an effort to protect their holdings from sanctions'.

'We value a variety of assets, including private companies, real estate, art and more. We don’t pretend to know each billionaire’s private balance sheet (though some provide it). When documentation isn’t supplied or available, we discount fortunes'.
