Religion / 'exodus: Gods And Kings' Brings In $1.2 Million On First Day At The Box Office by GospelHotspot(f): 5:05am On Dec 14, 2014
Although receiving a lot of heat from critics 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' had a decent first night earning at the box office. The controversial Bible epic earned $1.2 million in its late night showings in the U.S.

'Exodus: Gods and Kings' is set to retell the biblical account, found in Exodus, of Moses- a prophet who stood up to Pharaoh Ramses and helped free more than 600,000 slaves. Moses will then lead those people through the desert away from Egypt. According to HollywoodReporter the film is opening in 3,503 theaters this weekend, and is likely to debut in the $25 million to $30 million range.

'Exodus: Gods and Kings' has caused a stir in the media because its star actors, Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley. The problem is they are all white actors. Despite the threat of people boycotting the film, Thursday night's numbers showed that many are still showing support for the film

A fellow Bible flick that received a backlash from critics, 'Noah' earned $43.7 million in its debut earlier this year and took in $1.6 million in its Thursday night opening weekend showings. Many other Biblical or faith based films have done exceptionally well in the box office.

Religion / Good Neighbourliness ~ Pastor E. A. Adeboye | Open Heavens 7/12/2014 by GospelHotspot(f): 5:26am On Dec 07, 2014
Topic: Good Neighbourliness [Sunday December 7, 2014]

Memorise: A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. - Proverbs 18:24

Read: 2 Kings 4:1-8

4:1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

4:2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

4:3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4:4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

4:5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

4:6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

4:7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

4:8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.

MESSAGE:

The widow of the dead indebted son of the prophets lived in a predominantly poor but friendly neighbourhood. This can be deduced from the response of her neighbours to her request for empty vessels. There are lessons to learn from this interesting story, one of such is that: you are living in the midst of opportunities. Where you live right now is where your miracles are. God will inspire you and like that widow, you will discover that your miracles are in your neighbourhood in Jesus’ Name.

The point to note here is that, you must be friendly with the people living around you. Can you imagine what would have happened after Elisha told the widow to go to her neighbours for the vessels with which she must collect the object of her miracles and she couldn’t because she was not friendly with them? Can you imagine what their response will be if she had fought all the people in her neighbourhood? The Bible in Proverbs 18:24 says,

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

In so many instances, you do not need to relocate from where you are to get your breakthrough. In Genesis 26:1-3, we come across another interesting story in which God commanded Isaac not to go down to Egypt. God commanded him to stay in Gerar despite the famine in that land. He stayed and God blessed him mightily. In like manner, God is going to prosper you no matter the economic recession in your neighbourhood or in your country. There is a river in your neighbourhood that harbours a particular fish with a gold coin in its belly. All you need to do is to catch the fish, open its mouth and claim the coin that will enrich you for life (Matthew 17:27). There are some people in your neighbourhood, who have more money than they can ever spend in a lifetime. You only need to reach out to them with the message of salvation. Do you know that those that are extremely rich are hungry for the message of salvation? There was a young lady that preached to a rich man and he gave his life to Christ.

This man became so filled with the joy of salvation that he decided to give something to this sister.

He purchased a brand new car as a gift for this sister in appreciation for the salvation of his soul.

What God did for that sister, He can do for you. Go out and be a good neighbour to those around you by offering them the message of hope and salvation. You will be surprised at how God can reward your labour of love. Be a good neighbour today by evangelising to the lost souls in your neighbourhood.

Action Point: Go out and preach the gospel to your neighbours today.

Religion / Music: Be My Man ~ Funmi Praise Ft. Kentoxygen by GospelHotspot(f): 2:57pm On Nov 28, 2014
The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost which is why Funmi Praise is dropping this huge tune titled “Be My Man” on the eve of her wedding anniversary to her heartthrob; Robinson Isichei. Not only so, as the world enters into the festive season to mark the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Funmi leads the choral with this Afrosoul mid-tempo tune!

A little diversion from what we have always known the sonorous songstress for; both in genre and content. She hopes broken relationships and marriages can be mended through this contribution to the Gospel.

She brought along the expertise of “Oga Kpaito” crooner Kentoxygen on the vocal and dexterity of prolific producer Ultra Sound for this one. Don’t get overtly “religious” or too “churchy” for this one!

Funmi is currently a music minister/Praise and worship leader at the Love Assembly International Church, Lekki, Lagos. She released the video for her smash hit single “Melo” featuring Eben on her birthday April 16th 2014. She has ministered over the years in different churches and platforms and has worked with renowned artistes such as Segun Obe, Mike Abdul, amongst others. Her other works include “Make We Praise Am,” “Heal our Land” with Robinson Isichei, to name a few.

Religion / Music: The Hybrid Worship Song ~ Wale Adenuga by GospelHotspot(f): 2:06pm On Nov 28, 2014
How does anyone title a song THE HYBRID WORSHIP SONG? For all its worth, you would want to find out exactly what this is about; most especially when it’s a song by Wale Adenuga.

“I was at a loss at what to title this song which is actually a medley of two previously released songs. Then I remembered the hybrid automobiles – same car with alternative energy supply. Makes driving a different experience from anything you’ve ever known,” says Wale who has written some of Nigeria’s best loved worship songs in addition to recording live worship albums with renowned worship leaders like Lenny Leblanc and Bob Fitts.

This song recorded live during the last “Worship For Change” concert at The MUSON Centre, Lagos in October 2014 would most likely cause you to stop, introspect and set your mind on your Maker.

The Hybrid worship song is part of a series of songs off a soon to be released worship project.

Religion / House On The Rock To Host 9th Edition Of The Experience Lagos by GospelHotspot(f): 1:45pm On Nov 28, 2014
The Experience Lagos is an annual praise-night being organized by House On The Rock Church (HOTR). This Year's Edition is tagged ‘’ONE GOD ONE VOICE’’. According to organizers, the theme is due to the fact that the Church as an extension of God's kingdom here on earth should be an agent of unity and peace. With the recent chaos, instability, health-challenges and news of war across the world at the moment, this program will broker unity and promote oneness through the power of music and worship!

Last year, gospel artistes from all over the globe which included Don Moen, Frank Edwards, Cece Winans, Tyre Tribbet, Donnie McClurkin, Midnight Crew, Glowreeyah Braimah, Yolanda Adams to mention a few converged with over 700,000 worshippers at the Tafawa Balewa Sqaure to have a great night of singing, dancing and worship. Highlights of the event were the electrifying moments when the huge crowd gathered sang along with several artistes ministering without any instruments. The different ethnic groups and diverse vocal dexterities ranging from thin to deep, harmonious as well as those who sang off-key (without the faintest idea)could all be heard at the same time. The memorable moment paints a perfect picture for the vision of The Experience Lagos organizers: Unity through music and worship!

This Year's Edition boasts of a rich lineup of artistes with renowned names such as Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin, Micah Stampley, Chevelle Franklyn, Midnight Crew, Sinach, Israel Houghton, Frank Edwards, Chioma Jesus, Nathaniel Bassey, Angella Christie, Onos, Freke Umoh amongst others. Ministering alongside other preachers from various denominations is the convener and Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin.

The Experience Lagos is an interdenominational gospel concert that runs from 7:00pm till 6am, 11hours of uninterrupted live music and prayers. The venue, Tafawa Balewa Square is a huge space with security at the maximum. To avoid stampede and rowdiness, a standard sitting arrangement has been put in place to accommodate the massive crowd conveniently.

In the course of worship, the blind have regained their sight, the lame have walked with lots of other deliverance and breakthrough stories shared by concert attendants.

Further information about The Experience Lagos can be found on the official website: www.theexperiencelagos.com which has been updated to a more interactive, inspiring, informative and fun hub, accessible to registered users from all parts of the world.

Morire by Mike Abdul and MoniQue became my Thanksgiving song as soon as it dropped. It wasn't just me but a lot of other Christians......not just Christians, a lot of non-Christians too.

Then something happened.........I met this producer called Okey Sokay who decided to do a switch, a HipHop-meets-White-Garment kind of switch and my Thanksgiving song changed to MORIRE REMIX. Nolly, Protek and Lc-Beatz blessed the MIC and all i see is a great future for gospel music and lovers of it.

Religion / Afro Fusion Artiste 'gaise Baba' Marries His Sweetheart 'funto Oni' Today by GospelHotspot(f): 10:48am On Nov 21, 2014
Awa O Behind crooner, Gaise Baba known for his inspirational lyrics in his songs, is now a married man. He said 'I Do' a few hours ago to his sweetheart of many years, Funto Oni.

Gaise is a fast rising artiste who broke unto the scene in 2010, he likes to call himself a christian artiste and says the purpose of his music is to create a positive impact and make listeners adjust positively where needed.

He passes across this message in his songs through his christian faith, personality, heritage and his roots which is evident in the strong use of the native language in most of his songs like Awa O Behind O, Dobale, Little Drops and The Movie Song and calls his style Afro-fusion.

Earlier this year, on Valentine's day precisely, he proposed to Funto Oni at her office in a publicly romantic way and in July they had their introduction before finally going all the way today with their traditional and white wedding

Religion / Agnes Bunmi Dada: Carving A Niche Against All Odds by GospelHotspot(f): 10:41am On Nov 21, 2014
She is visually-impaired but she is not deterred. She has travelled around the world, achieving feats, which some able-bodied counterparts have not. She is a talented singer, a flair she has harnessed to her own benefit.

With a voice better heard than described, Agnes Olubunmi Dada with her band, ‘The Anointed Praise’, has established herself as an individual while also using the avenue to worship God and become a source of inspiration to fellow physically-challenged persons in the society.

Last year, Bunmi initiated a musical concert tagged: ‘Come Worship the King’, an event, which has become a yearly programme to worship God through songs and also extend hand of love to fellowship to other physically-challenged persons in the society who partake in the concert. The concert featured different gospel artistes who came together with one purpose: to worship God.

At this year’s concert held at Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Winners Chapel, Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos State, Bunmi with her band wowed the audience with her angelic voice in praises to God.

Also performed at the concert were Benita Okojie, Kema Inno, RCCG Winners Chapel choir, Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children and a physically challenged lady artiste on a wheel chair, Constance.

Speaking to The Guardian after the event, Bunmi said that the concert was held yearly to worship God and extend hands of love to other physically-challenged persons and the les- privileged in the society.

She disclosed that it was a vision that God committed into her hands as a physically challenged person: to promote the cause of her colleagues and also bring people into His kingdom.

He said: “This concert is organised to worship our Maker and our King and to extend a hand of love to physically-challenged persons. In the first edition of the concert, which was held at Latter Rain Chapel, Ota, Ogun State, we brought in children from Ijanido Motherless Babies Home and it recorded a huge success.

“This is not a money-making concert. It is just a vision that God committed into my hands as a physically-challenged person. There are so many us that are outside there and are really suffering. The society does not show them enough love. I am a music minister and God has given me this vision to touch the lives of these people the way God did to them in a banquet recorded in the Bible.

“Jesus Christ has not called us to turn anybody down or that anybody should go back empty but to give the little we have and extend a hand of love and bring people to His kingdom.”

She finally called on parents of physically-challenged children to train them.

“ Send them to school and make them learn handwork. They can also contribute to the development of the society,” she advised.

He further called on the government and the public not to pity people with physical challenges but assist them, revealing that in her time in the United Kingdom, she realized that assistance for the physically-challenged people was entrenched in their system.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Pastor, RCCG Winners’ Chapel, Pastor Moses Anjorin described Bunmi as a wonderful person who carries the glory of God.

Disclosing that he knew her through his brother who is a pastor, he said that his contact with her proved her that “she loves God and as such, the church’s decision to support her in her endeavour.”

She finally called on physically-challenged persons to worship God, no matter the situation that they found themselves, stating that “no condition in life should be an impediment to worshiping God as shown by Bunmi Dada. ”

Religion / Music: My Load ~ Fabian Ft. Henrisoul by GospelHotspot(f): 8:29am On Nov 19, 2014
Friiflow Records' artiste, Fabian teams up with HHQ's prodigy, Henrisoul in this heavily infectious, sweet-sounding, highlife-tinged tune titled "My Load."

"This, among other songs yet to be recorded came during one of my quiet time meditation on the book of Mathew 11:28-30 Its says "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light".

Jesus is our burden bearer, and our help in times of need, He is interested in our case no matter how big or small. Today if you will bring your burden to Him in faith, then He, Jesus will take it off your back in exchange for His yoke which is easy and His burden which is light." ~ Fabian.
