If you will be using only one battery, make it 500w-600w for faster charging. 300w will do but it may not charge the battery fully before sundown.
Thank you very much.

Using a 12v system and assuming a 200w load, you will need
1. At least 2 units of 200ah batteries (roughly 200k).
2. A 1kva inverter (price varies, contact the sellers on this thread for a quote.)
All things being equal and excluding solar, 250k should get you the setup you need. That is, assuming that all the appliances are turned on for 12hrs non-stop. But if they will not all be turned on at the same time and money is a constraint, you can manage with one 200ah battery further reducing the cost to say 150k or thereabout.
Thanks you very much, how many solar panels will i need, should i go for 300 watt solar panels for instance.

Hmm... your load is going to be over 200w going by the things you listed.
But the information is not yet complete. How many hours do want to run these appliances? This will help calculate the number of batteries you will need.
Thanks for the response, the appliance will run for 12 hours maximum

I can across this thread on the front page that says Buhari inherented $10 billion debt and borrowed $70 billion, this obviously false.
I wonder why people take it upon themselves to misinform others. Please see below a screenshots from DMO

The false thread https://www.nairaland.com/5565572/falalu-bello-10bn-nigeria-debt

 Read more here

According to the DMO, as at June 2015, the external debt of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) and the 36 states was $10.316 billion; domestic debt (FGN only) was $42.633 billion while domestic debt of states was $10.856 billion. These give a total public debt of $63.806 billion as at June 2015.

Time to try to charge it parallel with a working system. Find a friend with a working system. Turn off the friend's inverter and connect your battery in parallel with theirs. You may require the services of a sort of expert to pull this off. After some minutes, say 30 minutes of charging. Disconnect your battery and measure it. If the voltage rises to about 8v or so and stays there, you may just have a working system. But if it didn't, you may just have to get a new battery. I have once used this system to revive a battery reading 0.5v and 1v etc. But sometimes the batteries will refuse to retain any voltage in them after this stunt. By then, you just don't have any choice but to sell it as scrap and get a new one. It's a tough pill to swallow, but then there is some lesson to be taken off that experience.

Check the diagram attached; a very rough hastily sketched diagram grin but at least it may give you an idea of the connection in parallel. Please mind the polarity of the batteries while doing this, hence the need of an expert or someone who knows about battery connection. This is just to give you an idea. Cheers.
Thanks i really appreciate this.

First, I think it is better you find out the voltage of the battery. There are very cheap meters out there that can do that. To answer your question, the UPS can not function as the dumb charger. When you find out the voltage, the best option is to try to charge the battery in parallel with another healthy battery. This is just a 50-50 affair as your batteries may be irredeemable at this stage. But you can't be sure unless you've tried all the options available.

Both batteries are reading 2.12v on voltmeter i got

by now, you should have used a voltmeter to check the batt voltage, and inform us.
dumb charger is available on jumia /konga.....
if you are savvy, there is a way you could adjust your cc settings, and try to use it as a dumb charger, but from your questions, i highly doubt, you have the skills to try the above suggestions.

if the battery is so dead, that it has short circuited, so trying to force charge it will damage whatever equipment you are trying to use to charge it....this goes for ur ups question
Thanks again, i will get a voltmeter on monday

Most smart inverter chargers will not charge batteries that are below 10v. You can only charge the battery via a not-so-smart charger a.k.a dumb charger or by connecting it in parallel with another battery charging via an inverter.
But first you'll require to find out the true state of things via measuring the voltage of the said battery. You may need to disconnect the battery from the inverter to prevent further drain of the little juice remainder in it.
can i use a UPS as dumb charger? if not where can i get a dumb charger please

ok, its a 12v 200ah smf vrla battery, my earlier advice stands, find a standalone 12v battery charger 2amps to 8amps capacity, and leave it connected to the battery for 12hours, and observe for any signs of life.

but first all, i suggest you get a multimeter, or a portable dc voltage display unit, and measure the voltage of the battery, before starting to charge it.

its even best you leave the voltage display permanently on the battery as you charge, that way...you can observe if the charging is working, by a gradual rise in voltage.
i wish you the best, batteries shud never be kept in an uncharged state for an extended period of time, sulphation of the plates will occur, and if you eventually recover the battery, it may have lost over 70% of its capacity...hence a 200ah battery may start behaving like a 60ah batt or so

WHAT TYPE OF batteries?....12v, 6v..2v...flooded, vrla, gel ? etc
check the voltages with a multimeter.
disconnect all the batteries, and trying charging them singly with a stand alone battery charger, a trickle charger may be better for such, start with very low currents 1/50 to 1/20 of the battery capacity
no display on charge controller, implies that your charge controller may be bad too.
Thanks, pics below

Hello guys, i have been away from my solar inverter system for a while, i got back and i was told the system stopped working about 6 months ago, the sad part is that they ran the battery flat too. I found out the problem is from the panel wire.
The problem now is i have been charging the battery with Nepa via the inverter for 5 days now but its not coming up. I fixed the panel connections too and still battery is not charging, there is no display on the charger controller too.

Please guys are the batteries gone?
