The Role

The Mine Geology Superintendent is responsible for all Open pit and Underground Mine Geology activities and whole site reconciliation reporting.

Optimise and manage in-mine resource definition and grade control activities to ensure growth of site resources and reserves are, at a minimum, replaced each year.
Manage the quality and suitability of interpreted geological and mineralogical wireframes for resource estimation purposes.
Prepare and maintain grade control and geological models in conjunction with the Senior Resource Geologist.
Assist in the generation of exploration conceptual geological models.
Responsible for the accurate and timely reconciliation of all mining production and stockpiles on a monthly basis or as directed.
Supervise the use of and seek to continually improve geological processes to achieve and/or exceed specified goals, cost and safety targets.
Supervise the collection, storage and validation of geological data such as drilling data, geophysical data and surface and underground mapping.
Support the Long-Term Planning Superintendent and Discovery & Resource Definition Superintendent by providing data and input into resource and project evaluations.
Prepare and present regular reports and updates on mine geology activities for both internal and external purposes.
Contractor supervision and management
Mentoring and supervision of, Mine Geologists and Geology Technicians.
Generate or provide input into budgets, forecasts and schedules.

Technically you will have;

Tertiary qualification in Geology
10+ years industry experience
An understanding of geological interpretation and current 3D modelling techniques, block modelling, QAQC protocols, grade control systems and production stockpile modelling.
Previous production exposure in Open Pit and Underground environments is essential.
Near mine exploration experience around orogenic gold deposits will be highly regarded
Strong computer literacy in specialised 3D Geology software, Micromine and Volcan

The Company
A thriving, Australian owned base metals miner operating a large underground mine in Central Africa. Due to ongoing expansion and continued development across the mine property, there is a requirement for an experienced geologist to come on board and join the technical services team in the role of Chief Mine Geologist.

The Role
Lead, coach and mentor a large geology team;
Develop, implement & drive systems to support underground development and production activities;
Implement and drive grade control systems to support effective operations;
Support geology activities to increase reserve inventory across the mine property;
Establish and maintain daily, weekly and monthly reporting systems;
Support validation of survey, geological, geotechnical and resource estimate work;
Short to long term geological planning to identify production profile risks;
Encourage & drive a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.
The Requirement
Tertiary qualification/s in geosciences discipline;
10+ years mining related experience;
High calibre working ability in underground production geology activities;
Strong technical understanding of the underground metalliferous mining environment;
Leadership ability and interpersonal awareness to lead a large technical team;
Willing to work on a 6/3 FIFO roster or residential arrangement in Central Africa.

The Probe Operator supports the drilling and injection crew in the drilling/injection operation. This is an entry level position designed to train the individual in the various aspects of becoming a Driller or Technician. You will act as an assistant to help the Field Manager more easily perform the field tasks. The Probe Operator will move, set up and operate drilling rigs and related injection equipment to conduct the assigned field work. Work is outdoors in all weather conditions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Drives medium duty trucks to various job sites as directed by supervisor.

Performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors and prepares documentation.
Performs miscellaneous maintenance duties in field or shop as directed by supervisors.
Mechanical ability to do minor repairs
Conduct pre-trip inspection
Set up control zone
Perform physical labor, shoveling, drilling debris, lifting hoses and transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques
Ability to fill in for driller when qualified

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED
One year of steady working experience in either farming, environmental services, construction or drilling
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
Have a valid driver's license- willing to obtain a CDL class A.
Must be willing to travel
