Op, I wonder what you will say now that a dollar is around 1600/1700 and a carton of indomie is 20,000, many foreign countries are leaving the country. You saw the future in 2020 and the truth is that it is not getting better, so more suffer ahead, so we may come back here in 2026 and say 2024 was far better. But if I may ask, are you still in Nigeria?

I remember when I made a thread in 2020 that if people can't Japa they shouldn't have children and I was called all sorts of names. Nigeria of 2020 is even a paradise compared to Nigeria of 2023. As of that 2020, I will take 3000 naira to ShopRite and I will buy enough to make a big pot of stew. You can't even so that with 8k now in 2023. Honestly if I never left Nigeria I will live the rest of my life like a monk. I will never date or get married. I am not even in a very rich country and see how people live their lives devoid of worries.
you and Gerrard59 are such an inspiration for me, I hope you guys never quit using this website.

1. Biafra, Oduduwa, Arewa, and all ethnic minorities will still remain intact. There will be no division. We will only divide if external powers intervene.

2. Nigeria and Nigerians will be poorer than now. Praying, hoping, wishing, expecting, crying, etc doesn't change a country for the better, but only hard work with visionary leaders and brilliant citizens.

Nigeria lacks visionary leaders, and its most brilliant citizens are few in comparison to the dumbest and the smartest are all leaving the country. Where will redemption come from?

3. Our population will increase, especially from our northern kinsmen. So we shall have more mouths to feed, but little resources to match.

4. Leaving Nigeria will become extremely hard (except for Ecowas countries) since the buying power of Nigerians will be greatly reduced, the naira will depreciate, and countries will make it harder to leave.

5. The TikTok generation will be in their 20ś, and they would be wilder and feral than the older generations. So more single parents, more thugs, and less marriage.

This is a very sad prediction, I hope it doesn't happen. But to predict the future, you must take a look at the past. Nigeria as a country has had it best years in the past, and never in the founding of Nigeria has its best years be seen in the future.

For example, we thought GEJ time was worse until Buhari happened to us. Now Buhari time is actually better than Tinubu time. The problem with Nigeria is the constitution. It was imposed, and not designed by Nigerians, for Nigerians.

Nigeria will NEVER move forward with that constitution. Nigerians are just sheep in a huge prison, just like Gaza. The smart one knows this. Of course, few might have the ability to leave the prison, but the few are the necessary masks that cover the reality for the rest, that they are slaves.

Family / Re: Marriage Is Just all About Responsibility, Nothing Special. by Hilariousthiago(m): 2:34pm On Mar 30, 2023
Gerrard59:

Bros,

The situation dey everywhere. Two days ago, I was watching a CNN video on YouTube about the decline in marriage. The expert said it is because young men are not educated as before due to a focus on educating women, offshoring of manufacturing jobs which men usually hold, women squaring up with men economically but maintaining hypergamous standards for filtering them etc. The issue, he said is that there is a dearth of quality men for these women who are in great abundance. As a result, men are staying lonelier since this group of women don't want them. Here is the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vK4y6C1Uuhw If to say na black man, I for think say na our brother in Christ - Pansophi.st. grin

Modernisation has been very good in providing goods and services - affordably and seamlessly. Also, quality of life has improved tremendously, and poverty has declined drastically. But it has resulted in sheer competition for scarce resources, and with women in the workforce, the competition gets fiercer. So, an average man is not just competing with his fellow average dudes but women, some of them are treated preferentially. Na one of the reasons the new South Korean president won, the men got fed up with how women were treated preferentially, yet they (men) are mandated to enlist in national service and have to be the provider in the family. In return, South Korean women no dey gree born or marry since they want to be very good at whatever they do and don't want to continue in the patriarchial system as their mothers. The result? The birth rate in SK is the lowest globally at 0.8, way below the standard for developed countries at 2.1. The same competition is part of the causes of low birth rates in China, Singapore and Japan. Unlike other parts of the world, in East Asia, children born out of wedlock are frowned upon. Rightfully so, because children born in single-parent families tend to be poorer than their parents, and single-mother families tend to be the poorest. In Japan, families with single mothers constitute the highest number of poor people. So East Asians are wary of having children out of wedlock. The costs are just too high socially, economically etc. Government no dey care about them. They focus on married couples. You see why I laugh when our people promote baby-mamaism? grin

So, Nigeria's case is even worse than the US, especially in the south; the competition for scarce jobs is very high. In 2018 abi 2019, more than 76K applied for PwC's graduate trainee. That same year, Seplat's applications was over 40K (i wrote about the recruitment process then on NL). Since then, Seplat never recruit again. Meanwhile, she is supposed to recruit every four years. In North America, oil companies recruited as oil prices climbed up. In Nigeria, companies no even see the oil to pipe to the awaiting seaborne tankers.

If not for religion and maybe culture, marriage rates for don drop in Nigeria as people would see that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Religion offers hope. Africans' case is even worse than East Asians because they cannot move out easily to neighbouring countries to work and earn higher salaries. Japanese, South Koreans and Singaporeans can work in Australia, New Zealand, the US etc., earn higher salaries and later move back. The average Japanese who knows English has opportunities to work in Australia or apply for an L1 visa to work in the US for higher salaries. After all, more than 60% of the 24K+ Japanese researchers outside Japan are women. Where a typical Nigerian woman or man wan go? Na Niger Republic or Chad? Ghana? South Africa wey try dey OK, dem no like us. Even them sef get their wahala. Meanwhile, South Koreans are in the top 15 nationalities for Express Entry to Canada. Luckily for these Asians, the re-offshoring/friend-shoring of jobs away from China would benefit them in the long run.

I was thinking yesterday one of the reasons for the high rate of hookups na because things don hard for Nigeria. Just like the YT video, there are very few quality Nigerian men, unlike during Jonathan's administration. The few quality men are either married or have japa or want to japa. As jobs no too dey with low salaries, high cost of living and exposure to social media (these girls want to live like South Korean women, but where the work dey?), they resort to hookup. Luckily for them, the average Nigerian man likes to fvck. So when ₦2 enters his hand, he has budgeted ₦1 for toto services. I recall a tweet then by one chubby girl paraphrased - "why enter into a relationship when the same fvck the man go want yet he is doing his part financially. I prefer hookup straightaway after all, na the same fvck we go fvck" grin
I always look forward to seeing your posts anytime I think about coming on here. More wisdom bro.

What a good piece!.
My simple view to this is that opting to leave Nigeria for liberation and betterment of one's life in the UK or anywhere else in the western world at this critical time is the best option, unless you live in Nigeria where the security of your life, those of your family members and property could be certainly guaranteed.

So many Nigerians were living comfortably at home, believing in developing Nigeria with their skills and finances but ended up loosing their lives and loved ones to kidnappers, armed robbers, police brutality and so many other avoidable deaths. Sadly, these lost ones were bread winners of their families, leaving their dependents in eternal sadness. Do you think their family members wouldn't be in regrets presently for failing to have considered Japa in the past?

A professor of Medicine in OAU teaching hospital was killed by kidnappers 2years ago, the widow said she has been telling the deceased to consider their relocation abroad but the husband said he preferred to invest and develop Nigeria.
A 37 years old man left Abuja for his MSC exam in OAU, Ile Ife and was mysteriously killed in November last year in his hotel room at a popular hotel there in Ife, leaving behind a widow with 3 children. The widow recently granted an interview to BBC yoruba that the deceased planned to relocate the family after his MSC.

Just 2 months ago, a young professional was abducted with his mother and young daughter on their way to Abuja from Lokoja, the kidnappers collected millions as ransoms on the 3 of them and eventually killed the young man right before the mother and young daughter. The list is endless, abeg.

Do you think these families amongst so many afflicted ones like them are not currently regretting to have not considered japa than staying back to pursue their goals in Nigeria and eventually loosing their loved ones?

With the current happenings in Nigeria, no amount spent on relocating your whole family abroad to have a new start is wasted. As a matter of fact, there is every likelihood that any investment you put such money into if you choose to stay back in Nigeria would be wasted.

If you choose to japa, simply do so with plans. Expectedly, you can't expect everything to be rosy immediately you get to a foreign country. One must struggle to settle in (accommodation, work, children's schools and so on). A lot of people are comfortable back in Nigeria but the leaders are making home hostile for the commoners and homely for themselves and their families, so why stay back and risk your life.
they will do as if they can't see this post now. I remember one man that came back from USA to start farming in Oyo state that time. He was killed by Fulani herdsmen when he went to complain to them the way their cattle are spoiling his farm. They killed him and everyone moved on like it's a normal thing. Nobody was held accountable. Tomorrow when you want to migrate now, these hypocrites will tell you not to, you're better off using that money to start a business or a farm. Hypocrites lots.

Not in that article but by Nikkei Asian Review, PRs/citizenship applications are still around the usual figure, but Americans and Indians have displaced Koreans to be second and third behind the Chinese.
are there age requirements for undergraduate studies in Japan?

Total for a month will come at almost 250k. Millions of Nigerians don't know it is possible to make over 400k monthly here doing regular hustle. All they know is Nigeria is dead and I must japa. Im so sorry. I think I made video on that. The real truth is, age is not a barrier. For BSc in Portugal, it is divided into 2, we have below 23years and above 23 years. If you are above, then you select your option. I know a Nigeria who was born in 1984. He applied to Medeira, and he was given admission. When he came down to Portugal, he was not allowed to register for any course, he was asked to go to language school first and have B, until he would be allowed to attend classes. Most schools in Portugal, would teach in Portuguese in class for BSC (although you would be supported in English and you would write your exams in English too).
As for work, hmmm..... you wil not have time to work because you will have classes almost all the time. It is only Msc students that would have time to work. Please zero your mind that you cant work, except you want to forfeit your studies and work, then you later go back after you must have raised fund. For a student, the only thing that can permit you to stay back is to have a SUITABLE JOB. Infact, as a nigerian, when you arrive portugal, the first thing is to start looking for job wink wink wink wink,
is it advisable to abandon or forfeit school to go and work first, then come back to it later? Does it have any consequences that you know of?
