COURT SACKS SYLVA, BAYELSA APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

The Federal High Court, Abuja, last night, disqualified the governorshipcandidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva, from contesting the November 11 election in Bayelsa State.

Justice Donatus Okorowo ruled that Sylva, having been sworn in twice and ruled for five years as governor of the state, would breach the 1999 constitution as amended if allowed to contest again.

The judge also declared that Sylva was not qualified to run in the November poll because if he wins and is sworn in, he would spend more than eight years in office as governor of the state.

Citing the case of Marwa vs Nyako at the Supreme Court, Okorowo noted that the drafters of the country’s constitution stated that nobody should be voted for as governor more than two times and that the parties to the suit agreed that Sylva was voted into office two times.

He further stated that the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Marwa vs Nyako that nobody can expand the constitution or its scope, stressing that, if Sylva was allowed to contest the next election, it meant a person could contest as many times as he wanted.

The Governor of Bayelsa State and PDP candidate for the 2023 governorship election, Senator Douye Diri today took his campaign to Okoroma and Ogbolomabiri in Nembe Constituency One.

Thousands of political stakeholders, elders, women and youths came out in their numbers to welcome the PDP campaign team.

The Governor restated his commitment to the completion of the Nembe-Brass road when re-elected for second term, stating that the road when completed will open up investments in the blue economy.

The governor also commended the King of Ogbolomabiri, His Eminence, Edmund Daukoru for ensuring peace reigns in the land.

"First of all, I want to appreciate His Eminence for keeping the peace in Ogbolomabiri. You know without peace there can be no development. We are here to bring development to Ogbolomabiri because there is peace in the land. And I assure you that in my second term, we will complete the Nembe-Brass road project.

I have also come to seek for your blessings and support for my re-election. You know we have done very well. You don't change a winning team. So, on behalf of my Deputy and campaign council, we seek for your blessings and support."

Among various political leaders from Nembe Constituency One who spoke at the rally are Former Deputy Governor, Gboribiogha John Jonah, Senator Nimi Barigha Amange, Hon. George Braah, Hon. INEC Opts For Manual Transmission Of Bayelsa Governorship Election Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it plans to transmit results of the November 11 Bayelsa governorship election manually.

The state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Mr Obo Effanga, stated this in Yenagoa on Wednesday, during an interactive section with religious leaders and faith based organisations.

Effanga said that INEC was ready to conduct free, fair and credible election and only voters accredited by BVAS would be allowed to vote.
“Immediately you are given the ballot paper you can start voting.

“We are in the fourth week of collection of PVCs and it will end on October 11. Those who have not collected their cards should go to INEC office in their local government areas,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Closer TV - a frontline online media platform with presence in Bayelsa State & Niger Delta, Mr. Ogbomade Johnson Itutumeni has rolled out a one day free medical outreach open to the public.

Ogbomade notes that the medical outreach would feature Sensitization on Hypertension, Free checkup on Blood Pressure and Hepatitis-B, Free distribution of drugs to known hypertensive patients, HIV counselling and testing among others.

He said the gesture was his own way of giving back to society in marking his 36th birthday, which comes up on May 1st.

Ogbomade informs that the medical outreach would take place on Monday, May 1st at the Closer TV Premises located inside Old Assemblies Quarters, Azikoro Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

According to the Closer TV CEO, the programme which is in its second edition would kick off at 12noon.

PAINFUL DEATH OF A YOUNGER SISTER .

Early yesterday, Tuesday 24th, I received a shocking phone call from my uncle Mr. Servegod Angolo about a domestic violence report against his daughter by her boyfriend.

Immediately I rushed down to see what's happening at the Federal Medical Centre FMC Yenagoa, but while on my way, she gave up the ghost .

Young Miss Toma Serve-god Angolo , aged 22years who hails from Agorogbene community in Sagbama LGA of Bayelsa State, was beaten to death by her cohabiting boyfriend by name Arepamowei Koru from Ogobiri Community in Sagbama LGA at about 11pm in his room at Ogobiri Community .

As painful and provocative as it is, with the help of the immediate elder sister of the deceased who was able to grab the culprit before alerting the police at Amassoma Division, he was apprehended and moved to State headquarters Bayelsa Command to face the full weight of the law .

My dear cousin sister, this is not how you should have ended your life but God knows why.....

Rest in peace for we will ensure your killer sees no peace until he faces the full weight of the law especially beckoning on the VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACTS/KIDNAPPING AND RAPE.

ENGR. UDENGS ERADIRI

Engineer Udengs was born on March 22nd, 1976 to the popular Eradiri family from Agudama-Ekpetiama community in Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa state.

He started his early education in Calabar, Cross Rivers state, then later went to Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, he finally completed his secondary education in his hometown. He got admitted into the University of Benin where he studied Production Engineering, thereafter, he did a course in Dredging Technology. 

The young Udengs ventured into politics early as an undergraduate at University of Benin, where he held several positions as Member of parliament, UNIBEN, Secretary of Bayelsa State Students Association, National Union of Bayelsa State Students, NUBSS, President of Engineering Students Association and Izon-ebe student politics.


With this political background and experience, he joined the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC where he became the Secretary-General and later became the President of IYC in 2016. He organized the youth body to serve as a voice and platform for the advancement of Ijaw youths.

Udengs Eradiri later became the Commissioner for Youth Development in 2018. As a man of action, he started a youth policy in the state to ensure that young people in Bayelsa state are given an opportunity to be part of governance. He created a database of young persons who are talented in various skills in the agricultural sector, fish farming entrepreneurship, arts and craftsmanship. Through his innovative ideas, many young talented persons were discovered, empowered and given opportunities to showcase their skills and abilities within and outside the state.

Engr. Udengs later moved to the Ministry of Environment as its Commissioner, a position he held for only a few months, he reorganized the Ministry and established a climate change unit and department of legal services.

Engr. Udengs was the Special Adviser on Youths and Sports to the immediate past Sole Administrator of NDDC, and was reappointed presently to Acting MD of the NDDC.

Currently, he runs his own business, Radnitz Integrated Services which specializes in dredging, oil and gas services. He is a dredging expert. 

Having exposed himself to other parts of the world and seen their growth and development, he is motivated to be a part of solving the problems of the Ijaw youths, the Niger Delta region and particularly, Bayelsa state.

Hon Champ. Baraladei Daniel Igali (born February 3, 1974 in Eniwari, Bayelsa State, Nigeria) he was Canadian freestyle Wrestler who is an Olympic Gold medalist.

On February 10, 2005, Igali announced that he would seek nomination as a candidate in Surrey-Newton for the British Columbia Liberal Party in the 2005 provincial election in British Columbia. He won the nomination, but was defeated by New Democrat opponent Harry Bains in the election.


He completed a Master of Arts degree in criminology at Simon Fraser University, having previously attended Douglas College. While working on his master's degree, he trained at SFU and liked to help coach. Igali is currently  the President of the Nigerian National Wrestling Federation and Bureau Member United World Wrestling Federation, the first black man to be a member.

In November 2006 Igali was injured during a violent robbery while in Nigeria. from 2020 till date he is the president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation.

Hon Daniel Igali is a two-term member of the Bayelsa State  House of assembly and Currently the Hon commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Bayelsa State.

In 2012, Igali was one of the recipients of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards presented by Canadian Immigrant Magazine.

Hon Champion Daniel Igali is an expert in identifying the potentials of young people and has overtime received numerous Awards for his contributions in Youth Development.

Bayelsa East Youths For Good Governance Endorses Hon. Inodunimi Isaiah Victor As It's Candidate For The House Of Representatives In Brass - Nembe Federal Constituency

Ahead of next year’s general elections, Youths in Bayelsa East Senatorial District earlier today adopted the Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Hon Victor Inodunimi Isiaha

Addressing Journalists after a closed door meeting the DG, said that their members have resolved to work for the SDP Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency SDP candidate from the units to the wards and the LG level.

Speaking under the umbrella body of Bayelsa East Youths for Good Governance, Peace Okrinya noted that the aim of the group is to ensure that they support credible candidates that will make a positive impact in the lives of the people in Bayelsa East Senatorial District, particularly for Nembe and Brass LGA's and the promotion of unity in diversity.

“They all unanimously resolved That the SDP and her House of Representatives candidate, the impeccable persona of Hon Victor Inodunimi Isiaha is our preferred candidate for the forthcoming 2023 elections.

Comr. Isaac N. Esule, who until his resignation from the Bayelsa State PDP was the Deputy State Coordinator of the Bayelsa State PDP Students Wing and also the DG of the PDP Pressure Group has officially defected to the APGA.

Why was Isaac N. Esule arrested and by who?

According to the SA on Student matters to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Isaac N. Esule used his media platform BAYELSA LIVE to interview several persons in the oxbow lake IDP camp , many commended the Government and the Management , while a particular person criticised the management which got them offended and this prompted him to delete the publication and also went to the IDP camp to apologise to the woman in charge and he was arrested last week Monday while apologising .

His whereabout was not known to friends and family till Wednesday when we found out that he was being taking to anti kidnapp of the Bayelsa State Police Command , His mother also came from the village to join others in apologising to the Woman in charge of the IDP for an offence he committed not , it was just a public opinion carried out by his media platform, there was no defamation of character or Cyber stalking.

Moving further he was granted bail on Friday after being asked to make a personal video again apologising to the woman and refuting the publication which he did and after doing the needful and going home in Jubilation with friends and family along road safety Junction we were intercepted by the OC Legal and the OC Kidnapping with a Private vehicle asking Isaac N. Esule alone to enter the vehicle and follow them to the IDP Camp to thank the Lady for granting him bail, his mother also attempted entering the car but she was denied, the rest of us alongside his mother went to oxbow lake to join him in thanking her only to find out that he was taking to court by the OC Legal , claiming that he was not properly informed of the bail and he has already registered the case in court.

The Prosecutor who Doubles as the OC Legal Pressed Charges that He should be remanded him okaka , to enable further investigation but the Magistrate gave her Judgement that Isaac Esule has no business in court now cause he was just granted bail , and his offence is not a murder , armed robbery or serious crime that should warrant him being taking to okaka to enable further investigation cuz the charges are Cyberstalking which bail has already been granted. He was Granted bail the second time with condition of a one million Naira bail bond and Surety under the Verification of the OC Legal , and in the cause of meeting up with the requirements he was being taking to okaka and thereafter to state CID, and after we were able to fulfil all requirements, the OC Legal raised another issue that the person we used as Surety has unsettled matters with him and that we should bring another suttee which we did but as we speak Isaac Esule is still in State CID.

Isaac was finally released on the 8th of November 2022.

Following his release, he has tendered a letter of resignation from the Party.

It is worthy of note that the woman in charge of the IDP is the Honourable Member representing Isaac N. Esule's constituency at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and Isaac worked for her with the help of the PDP Pressure Group in previous elections.
