Absolutely incisive.

You sure are persuasive with your argument, I have nothing else to say but wish you and your people the best of luck in your efforts to put an end to this seemingly intractable conundrum.

Thank you. We will prevail. I am happy that more people are speaking up on here and Twitter and in some instances we have taken the conversation out to the public.

On your part, do not be gaslighted from speaking against these ills. They will call you all sorts of names including bigot and others, but pay them no heed. Those ones are lost and no one is looking for them.

The South East must be salvaged.

You paint a very dark picture of hopelessness brother. I'd rather not believe we've come to this point. Nah, not possible.

Although some supporters of the "heroes" gone rogue around still pretend to have their backs, deep down, I believe they wish they could turn back the hands of time. No one affected by this carnage would genuinely still believe the oppressors are fighting a just cause.

It's not POSSIBLE.

You don't know the Igbos.

Look at it this way... Someone (like the moniker above) is afflicted but when conversations about his affliction is discussed, he agrees that he is afflicted and suffering but would only allow help if the authorities release a terrorist and instigator of mass murder, MNK. What does it say?

Don't it tell you that he hasn't suffered enough? If he truly is tired of the troubles these people (his creation) are wrecking, he would not give a caveat for anyone to help him. Now, this is why I have said that any attempt for Abuja to try to quell this without acceding to their demands will backfire and be used for negative propaganda.

Didn't you see them in Abuja, a few days back? They couldn't call a spade, a spade.

IMO, they haven't suffered enough. Yes, they lament, but they haven't gotten to the elastic limit of their suffering.

Let me give you a little insight

What is happening in the South East is an agitation modelled after the NigerDelta Militant agitation but with the 1966 propaganda playbook of Chief Chukwumerije and Chief Okokon Ndem.

The error of judgement however is that, unlike the ND agitations, the South East has no prized bargaining chip - oil. Not that there are no wells in the SE but there are not enough to hold the country to ransom.

So, it is on this realization that most diehard secessionists would always argue for the unholy marriage of the SE and SS in their agitation to take back their homeland Biafra. They do not mind that these "forced partners" want nothing to do with them, and that of all of the other parts of the country, that they were afflicted the most by these people after the war - but I digress.

Tell me, how does on base his ambitions on an uncorporating partner? How do a seemingly intelligent people not realize quite quickly how mundane the whole idea of chosing to be landlocked in a growing global world sounds. In a world where access to the Sea is a huge geopolitical plus and a strong power wield?

My people are smart but on this one, they have failed like bunch of dunces. They have allowed sentiments, anger and hate to override common sense.

That they do not know that if Nigeria chooses today to grant them statehood, it can choose not to deal with them The whole idea that you can go and Nigeria will be forced to deal with you is beyond absurd.

The soft power play in the last 3 election cycles have given a glimpse of how the Nigerian state will treat the SE in the event of a breakaway and my people seem more to be blinded...

What's wrong with having the quality we claim we can bring to Biafra in South East? What's wrong with accomplishing all of those niceties we believe we can in Biafra under these same political construct?

You see it's either we are driven by blind hate or we don't have it in us. The SE has all it needs to develop and it's not Nigeria that's holding us back.

What exactly can be done by the people of the East to nip this monster in the bud? I'm not seeing much traction from Abuja to stem the tide. I have no idea the reason behind this, but things surely can't continue this way. Ohanaeze and the various youth groups need to step up to the plate, make tangible effort to put an end to all this.

It is not in Abuja's place to stem any tide because any action from them will be used for negative propaganda.

If and when the people have suffered enough, by themselves, they will fight off their oppressors. When? I do not know.

See... I will let you know that this runs deep.

I have had conversations with people affected, that still think that the carnage is caused by state actors "Fulani supporter of APC". That IPOB and all its affiliates, the "Umuomas", "Umu Elohims", these gun totting miscreants are innocent.

Some others even believe, as absurdly as it sounds, that the killings is an act of "cleansing the land of saboteurs". That UGM kill only people who are "Sabo".

My people are gone, far lost. Only them can save themselves. When the politically greedy elders reconsider and come to their senses and the people are afflicted with more pain than they can bear from the UGM, ESN, IPOB or any other acronym they have ascribed to themselves, only then will all of these end.

Forget the trolling, deep down, we all are desirous of holistic peace in Nigeria. We wanna eat fish in Abuja, go party in Owerri, holiday in Akwa Ibom or Calabar, do business in Kano or Lagos, etc, without some gun-wielding nutjobs ruining every moment.

May the peace we all crave find us, amen.🙏

Amen.

The whole affair is distasteful and I hold my people responsible. No matter how they try to blame someone else or the government, the people are the primary creators of these monsters that have sought their lives.

More appalling is how some still justify the actions and killings by these cowards that feed on their kin, and others even in their pain that consider it, a good enough sacrifice... But for what?

A state run by anarchists?

The actualization of Biafra in this state or even the release of MNK will spell more doom for the Igbo people than the Holocaust did for the Jews.

I am hurt and angry. We have become a mockery, a slight for a people. Debased by our sentiments and wicked desires to see others hurt, we have become asinine puppets for masquerading puppeteers.

We have become a shame.

They should just liase among themselves and produce the killer abi na killers before the next market day, and maybe, just maybe, there won't be a massive butchering there in the coming months...

That being said, it's also not impossible that some state actors looking to set the Easterners up for a last-minute pre-handover bitter lesson, infiltrated the east and perpetrated this act, looking to provoke a superpower to bring hell there or even give the Army a good reason to unleash mayhem there .... It's moot and unproved at this point, but not an impossibility..

This is a serious matter. Mine is a current account but the same reference issues and I have funds in the account.

I have given them various references but none seem ok for them. I don tire like this.

But seeing how you outlined the process here, I am thinking that this was the likely problem. The people couldn't confirm because they weren't told how they could confirm. But seeing this now makes it even harder for a random person to help to reference someone because how I wan take dey follow up with the person now.

Nairaland / General / Re: Opinion: In Respect Of The Man Demanding The Refund Of His Tithe by iboboyswag(m): 12:32pm On Feb 10, 2023
PeterOnu:
The church of God is God's embassy representing the Kingdom of God on earth. The church exists to spread the good news of God's Kingdom, and demonstrate God's love and goodness to mankind. The church is therefore an agency for the administration of God's welfare package to humanity.
Every genuine church exists to give and not to take, to help and not to hinder, to enrich and not to impoverish, to feed and not to starve her members.

In the same manner, the instructions of God as contained in the Holy Scripture are for the profit of man. God instructs us to our profit (Isaiah 48:17). No teaching of God's Word by a genuine pastor is intended to extort money from people or cause losses to them.
Furthermore, the earth and the riches thereof belongs to God (Psalm 24:1). God is too rich to depend on man. Therefore, no genuine church or servant of God is after the resources of the people. The people come to church to be helped spiritually, physically, emotionally, materially, financially, maritally, etc.
As touching givings in church, they are done based on personal conviction and leading, no coercion or persuasion involved.

It is therefore preposterous, callous, and devilish for someone of Mazi Chukwudiaso Onyema to call out a church in a media for the refund of tithes allegedly paid willingly and not by coercion. This is an unwarranted assault on the church. It is the height of insanity and foolhardiness, and the consequences may be too grave for him to bear, except for the mercy of God.

Even if the man in question was not a Christian, and he is stranded, in dire need of assistance, he could be assisted by the church. And if he is a member, the church would not ask for his tithe records before assisting him.
The pastor who is now the target of this man's blackmail is known for his impeccable integrity. He had rounded off major services many times without remembering to take offerings, only to be reminded by worshippers; he had refunded offerings given to him by the sick and challenged in need of divine intervention; he does not take worship offering on crusade grounds with tens of thousands of people in attendance, even though it cost hundreds of millions of naira to conduct a single crusade.

Moreover, the man of God and the church are known for their philanthropic endeavours to individuals, communities and institutions. The church and the man of God give scholarship to innumerable indigent students, undertake community development endeavours like road construction, rural electrification, provision of classrooms to public schools, boreholes to communities, humanitarian responses to victims of emergency and crises situations, monthly welfare ministration to orphanages, economic empowerment to widows and the less privilege, etc.

The question is, how much is this man's total tithes compared to the amount of money used in the above projects?

Won't the church assist a man with this level of self-destructive frustration if he ever approached her for help? But unfortunately, he never did.

Why did he take to social media to vent his grievances without first approaching the church for assistance if money was what he truly needed?
It is either he is mentally deranged or perhaps, being sponsored to embark on public blackmail against the man of God and the church.

Therefore, think twice before you join him to blackmail the church. This is not the time to vilify the church and men of God. The church remains the greatest source of hope and inspiration in our nation today.

In conclusion, if the man genuinely needs help, let him retract his statement, seek forgiveness from God and approach the church for assistance. The church can assist him, not only financially, but in rescuing him from earthly and eternal damnation by restoring his sanity and spiritual health.

You started well but ended it in the same demonic antics purveyors of the modern gospel employ.

The church today, is a cancer. They take and only exist to take, never giving.

Places of worship littered with false prophets and purveyors of false doctrines. "If I be a servant of God..." Lori iro!

If not that the God they blaspheme is merciful and his wrath withheld, many who shout his name everyday, and twice on Sundays, on altars they have built in the name of other gods (money chief of them) but disguise and pretend they had built for him, and in his name, would have been struck by lightning from above.

Pastors today are the biggest impediment to the salvation of the people they claim to shepherd. They are not good examples. Their love of money have caused them to lead many astray than they have saved. They don't even preach the doctrine of salvation anymore, and many don't even bother to disguise.

If it's not a conspiracy theory for Sunday sermon, it is political views. And as always, the church is always in need. Offerings, tithes, special offerings, offerings for projects and let's not forget the church marketplace. There is always something on sale, even the sermon you must have just listened to.

The modern church is a cancer. Most have convoluted the doctrine of God, all in a bid to establish their own doctrine and precepts. No wonder Jesus said that judgement will start in the house of God...

Don't even know if the churches today are worthy to be called "Houses of God". But God help us.
Family / Re: My Ex Fiancee Is Pregnant For Me by iboboyswag(m): 5:51pm On Jan 13, 2023
Alesa3341:
Hello Guys, please I need a sincere and matured advise on what to do. This will be long, please bare with me.

I'm 27, am a businessman, I have this girl I really love so much and intend to marry her this year December, but one thing about her is her bad character. She challenge me, talk back at me, shout at me, get angry with me for days, refuse to cook when she is angry, disrespect my family, most especially my mum, always trying to paint herself good and paint me bad in presence of people, these are just little of the things she has done to me.

When she lost her job, and had nowhere to go, I had to bring her to my house, and provide everything for her, food, I change her hair twice a month, subscribe unlimited for her, I just provided everything a woman need to be happy for her. Last year November, she told me she haven't seen her mum for 5years and wanted to travel to see her, I spent close to 200k to take her to and fro, including other things she needed. She insisted on collecting the bride price list for me when coming back, I spoke to her mum and they gave her to give me. I was planning to finalize all on the weeding this year.

Last year DECEMBER, I took her to my family to introduce her, but this was the biggest mistake of my life. She was completely disrespectful to my mum, talks to me anyhow in presence of anyone, even to the extent of refusing to cook for me anytime she is angry, I go to kitchen and prepare food myself.

I love this girl so much but I still thought of continuing, with all this attitudes, I advise her everyday, I also took her to my pastor who advise her too most of the times, but she never changes.

Fast forward to 2days ago, we had issues because she told me to join her in washing and I refused because I was working on a client project, she got angry, washed the clothes and when it was evening she brought the clothes inside, folded her own in the wardrobe and just threw mine into the wardrobe without folding or arranging them. I was angry about this, but I kept mute. The next day, she sent me "sorry" on WhatsApp, I told her to come to me physically and apologize but she told me she can never do that, and why was she even apologizing, that she did nothing wrong, we exchanged words and she left my house.

Today, she called me and told me she is pregnant, and that I should send her money to remove it. I was like "just like that"? We didn't discuss about it, how will you just tell me you want to terminate my pregnancy, I told her to go to hospital and confirm it and also get the test report, she did this and sent to me, it was true she is pregnant, but she insisted on removing it, I persuaded her and she still refused, claiming she can't be a single mother. I told her I will take responsibility, but she insisted on removing it, I told her to go home and think about it, and she told me she can't leave there without removing it. After so much persuading I decided to give her the money, and told her if she removed it, that it's on her, that I didn't consent to this.

I asked her why we can't keep it, and she said because my family is bad, we support evil, if the sky is blue, we say it's red, that my mother is a bad woman, and she doesn't want to come there. She said so many bad things about my family, I was shocked! I asked her, how are they bad, she said "how can my mother be telling her to wash my clothes" I was just confused, After all I have done for you, is it bad if you wash your husband to be clothes, I left her!

Later she told me the doctor referred her to another hospital, I still tried to persuade her and she said her decision is final. She asked me to give her money to go to the hospital she was referred to, I refused! I insisted that we keep the baby, she told me "I'm a nobody, that she will call now and she will get money to go" I angrily blocked her. Later, she called my other line and told me, she went to the other hospital and the doctor told her, the cost to remove the pregnancy is 125k, she told me and I insisted on keeping the baby.

Please guys help.me, I don't want to terminate my first child, the girl is too disrespectful and rude, I don't want to continue with such woman, but she is carrying my baby, what do I do? And if she later agree to keep it, how do I go about it?

You all are just saying "don't marry her" what about the baby? Should I agree to abort it and give her the money?

MODIFIED

Take the advice of a man who have been on this path before. Remove the monkey's hand from the soup before it turns to human hand.

I will make two assumptions.
You are the first child or male and you are likely the most successful in your house. Also I can add that you hold your family in high regards and support them as much as you can.

With this out of the way, I will say to you;

That girl would frustrate you until she has her way. This is a fact.

Now, you may ask, what is her way?

She wants to be sure that you are going to put her first. She might have an attitude problem but all of it is coming from one thought... She fears that you do not put her first and won't when she becomes you wife. That's coupled with the pregnancy hormones.

Things will only get worse if she doesn't feel safe in the thought that is is first in your life and so, the decision is in your court.

1. Are you going to walk through it to make her feel safe?
2. Is she worth the effort?

When you can answer this, you have your answer of what decision to take.

If she wants to terminate the pregnancy, allow her. It's her body but wash your hands off it and don't take her back.

A quick question.

Please what does the law say on switching from an HCA role (Healthcare Assistant) to say a project manager or Data analyst role with a different employer.

Does the count for ILR reset or continues?

I reason they are both Tier2 so it continues but a lot of people seem to have a lot of different opinions.

What do you guys think?

Ok I said I wasn’t going to comment again but I think you have the wrong end of the stick here and are completely missing the message I was trying to convey.

When I posted my comment about the professional Accountancy bodies, I listed a few that I could remember off the top of my head. The fact that I didn’t mention CIPFA, CiMA etc is not a slight on those qualifications. You can check the timeline of my post to see that I already made the comment before you disclosed your CIMA qualification.

Secondly, most professional accountancy bodies require intending members to achieve a minimum of 3 years practical experience in UK Taxation (if following the tax advisor career route) before allowing them to complete complex tax returns hence my comment about needing more than 2 years UK tax experience to acquire the skill-set required for this line of work. Again this was not a dig at you or any new immigrants.

Thirdly, I’m not a Bros. I still stand by my original advice, people should do their DD before engaging the services of any accountant.

It was a dig and you know it.

Due diligence is alright but the tone of your writing, choice of words and sentence structure showed your hand. You implied he was unqualified to give tax advices.

Your exact words.

No offence intended but I do not think that someone who has spent less than two years in this country will have the requisite technical know how required for this line of work.

We learn everyday and people on here are reminded daily to do their DD. There was no need to act as judge and jury.

GhostOfNigeria:
IMMORTALISE FIRST FINANCE MINISTER--LATE CHIEF F.S OKOTIE- EBOH.

I wish to call upon the Federal government to immortalize the name of the first Minister of Finance in Nigeria, late Chief Festus Okotie- Eboh who was from a minority area, by putting his photograph in any denomination of the Nigerian Currency.

The reason for this is not far-fetched. It was he that changed the colonial currency, which was jointly operated, by the British colonies of West Africa in 1958. As the first finance minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he effected the new currency and coins bearing the title "Federation of Nigeria into circulation in 1959. Another area that he spearheaded during his tenure as Minister of Finance was the establishment of the Central bank of the country in 1958.

I believe that being the first indigenous Finance Minister of this country, he is the most qualified person to be engraved on the Nigerian currency for he created it. He initiated the Bill for the establishment of the Central Bank of Nigeria and announced the appointment of Mr. H.P Penton as the Governor of the apex bank. Except of course there is a grand conspiracy to deprive him of his due because he happens to have come from a minority ethnic group, there is no reason under the sun why he should not be immortalized like his contemporaries.

Suffice it to say that it was he who established Nigeria Stock Exchange and work for the admission of Nigeria as a full member of the International Financial institutions namely,
1. the International Monetary Fund ( IMF),
2. The International Finance Corporation and
3. International Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( IBRD).

It is therefore tragic that despite all these, not a single of these institutions buildings is named after him or his photograph in any of the denominations of Nigeria’s currency just because he is from a minority area of the country. Many of his contemporaries have been immortalized severally. Some of their portraits were engraved on the national currency; while others have an institution name after them.

For the singular reason you chose blackmail over reason, no one will heed to your request.

Young Nigerian mothers are dying recklessly anyhow from childbirth, young Nigerians are being left untreated and left to die because of lack of health care in Nigerian and you are proud...You say that with foolish pride. Foolish pride that allows you to compare the Nigerian healthcare to that of the UK's NHS service.

Yes the NHS needs reform because it vital system which should be always be in the transient state of progress and not static like the health system in Nigeria. No one is denying that. However for a newcomer like you to come into the UK to start criticising what you don't have in your homeland reeks nothing but the height of hypocrisy and obnoxiousness.

Look at this chart below and read with your foolish pride. Nigerian women are dying recklessly from preventable ailments during childbirth and you say you are proud. That is nothing but sheer evil on your part and you are part of the problem in Nigeria. Continue burying your head in the sand whilest criticising the NHS.

People like you deserve to stay in Nigeria because una na dey get mouth pass...That P must never reach your hand.

Yes hand me down properties that are generating nearly £20k a month...Jealousy no good o..lol

These are my last words to you on this matter.

I don't care wherever you go to pull your stats from, it is not entirely a representation of the facts on ground in Nigeria.

Nigeria is not an eldorado, we have some of the most fantastically corrupt persons in government and fantastically corrupt government institutions but I know for certain that access to basic healthcare is a service that is available to most, whether it is privately driven or government supported, and this service is better and cheaper in Nigeria than in the UK.

For migrant students. You can't stop the flood gates. Nigerians in droves will continue to come as it remains legally able to do so, and I reckon the UK government will continue to allow it for 2 reasons.

1. The money is sweet and hard to pass up.
2. They get access to cheap labour for rolling terms.

Try being Liz Truss for a day and you would see why stopping migrants (lots of £££ paying like the Nigerian Student) is such a hard call to make.

Finally. You may have to go pray really hard about a pending heartbreak. Because this black nyash boy from Nigeria will get surely get the P and there is nothing you can do about it.

I don't think anyone here will defend you on this point. The NHS might not be perfect but it is absolutely ridiculous to even suggest that the health system in Nig is better.

You may not have needed to use the NHS, but many have literally had their lives saved by the NHS and the bonus is they didn't have to bankrupt themselves in the process - unlike places like US and other 1st world countries you seem to think are better. So yes, while it's not perfect I'm very proud and grateful for the NHS and I hope it will get even better going forward.

Do I look like I need a defense or speak my thoughts for validation?

The operative word here is access... If people have to wait weeks unend for an appointment in the UK whereas, they can just walk into a hospital in Nigeria to receive attention and treatment, tell which one works then?

These things are just simple.

I have not compared quality... Let people have access in the first instance before we move on to discuss quality.
