Politics / Polls: PDP Campaign Expresses Concerns Over Imo, Ebonyi by InoutNaija(f): 10:32am On Feb 28, 2023
The Director, Strategic Communications for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Dele Momodu, has raised alarm over an alleged attempt by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to induce officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Lagos, Ebonyi and Imo to alter the results of Saturday’s Presidential elections.

The campaign said it has reliable

Information that the APC was prepared to deploy intimidation and blackmail should financial inducements fail.

Momodu said this at a media briefing in Abuja, on Monday.

He said, “As a matter of fact, we have it on credible grounds that our main opponent in this election, the APC party, is currently mounting pressure in attempts to bribe their way to secure 25 per cent performance in both Imo and Ebonyi states.

“It is on the merits of this intelligence that we are calling on the INEC to apply necessary precautions before announcing procured results in the presidential election from these two states.

“Our presidential candidate had yesterday urged the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu to instruct Collation Officers to upload results from the Polling Units to the INEC server to avert those results from being compromised by Governors of the ruling party who were shopping for numbers to make up for their shortfalls.

“As we speak, the APC has not been able to meet the 25 per cent threshold and demands that INEC should not cave in to the pressures and desperation of the APC to buy advantages for itself in this regard.

“Similarly, we have it on good grounds that the APC is currently making attempts to shore up votes from Lagos State to their advantage.

“From already collated results, the APC is not leading in Lagos and we have credible information that they are currently shopping for means of manufacturing humongous figures to their advantage in the state.“

He said further, “Similarly, we urge the Independent National Electoral Commission to resist the pressure being mounted on it by the APC to compromise the Lagos Central Senatorial District election where the Peoples Democratic Party is in a clear lead.

“We further urge the electoral commission to put substantial surveillance on Lagos State. The APC are doing ALL within their means to cheat in Lagos.“

Momodu expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their resilience and commitment to ensuring that their votes count by coming out in their numbers to vote for candidates of their choice.

He said, “On behalf of our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, we wish to thank all Nigerians irrespective of their political affiliations for turning up to vote for the candidates of their choice.

“We also want to commend the INEC, the security agencies and all other paramilitary forces for ensuring that the atmosphere of the election was peaceful.

“Having cast their votes, Nigerians are earnestly expecting the results to be announced.

“It is also their expectation that the announced results will be in alignment with the ballots they had cast. As a campaign, we expect nothing less.

“We have been following the trend of post-election activities and it is our desire to reset certain wrong impressions being created to confuse the public.

“From already collated results data we are proud to inform Nigerians that the Peoples Democratic Party remains in the lead in the election of last weekend.

“We remain the only political party which has secured the necessary 25 per cent spread across 24 states in the country. No other political party has been able to cross this essential constitutional requirement.

“Our demand for INEC’s precaution is not limited to Lagos. It extends to other states in the Southwest and selected states in the North including Katsina, Yobe, and Borno among others.

To the supporters of the PDP, we want to especially thank you for the terrific work that you have done to put our great party on the path towards victory in the election.

“Through your incredible efforts, we are happy to inform you, our members, that we are doing extremely well in the Northwest and the Northeast.

“We are competitive in the South-south and North-central. No other party has the kind of leading edge that we have in this election.

“We urge you all our esteemed members to disregard the mind games being played by the APC. From our standpoint, the APC has no justifiable path to winning this election.

“Unlike the PDP, the APC lacks the spread and unlike the PDP, the figures are not adding up.

“Therefore, we urge PDP members to be vigilant, remain steadfast and peaceful.“

Politics / Calm Down, Metuh Tells Anambra Bizman, Arthur Eze by InoutNaija(f): 10:52am On Dec 28, 2022
Popular Anambra businessman Arthur Eze has been told to calm down by former PDP national publicity secretary Olisa Metuh.

This was said by Metuh in a Facebook post on Tuesday, in response to Arthur's announcement that he will support Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, rather than Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that Eze had claimed he was not supporting Obi's bid for the presidency since the former governor of Anambra State was unable to secure support in the South-West and the North.

The businessman spoke while Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the state governor, traditional leaders, women's organizations, and notable state citizens were present.

Eze further stated that he had already warned Obi to withdraw from the presidential race, but he (Obi) refused to listen.

Reacting to the development, the former PDP chieftain, Metuh, advised Eze to not allow political punditry lead him to infamy, adding that the businessman had already amassed so much wealth.

Metuh further cautioned Eze from making certain categorical statements, adding that man is not God and should not play the role of the Almighty.

He stated that when he (Metuh) was contesting for his roles in the PDP, his kinsmen in Anambra State were against him and even threatened him in court, but he won on all three occasions despite their refusal to back him.

He also knocked all those against Obi’s ambition saying they should “leave the man alone.”

Metuh wrote:-

My dear Princh, God has blessed you for decades, you have acquired untold riches and unimaginable wealth. Calm down and do not allow political punditry to lead you to infamy and public opprobrium.

“Some of us are now non-partisan and will no longer make public comments on our political choices but then, we are not expected to make certain categorical statements. For indeed, no man is God and no man should attempt to play the Almighty role.

“In 2008, I was rejected by all the Anambra power brokers and yet won my election as National Vice-Chairman of Pdp. In 2012, every major political powerhouse in Anambra fought me and I still won and became the National Publicity Secretary. In the 2013 repeat convention, they ganged up and even attempted to use the court to stop me but God still gave me victory at the convention ground .

“This year, they said he has no structure, they said he has no money, they said he’s not known outside of Anambra State; now, they say he has no crowd in his rallies.

“I do not know who will win the 2023 elections but it will definitely not be determined by the usual political crowd who are paid to attend rallies. Check your family, check your domestic staff, check those gainfully employed and fully engaged in public and private employs; they do not attend rallies but they will surely vote. Let the candidates focus on voters not professional rally attendees.

“Finally, please let all the mini Amadioha’s in our land campaign for their candidates and leave that poor man alone.”

Career / Forbes: Getting In And Moving Up The List Of Billionaires By John Obi by InoutNaija(f): 3:46pm On Dec 22, 2022
As 2022 comes to an end and 2023 draws even closer, the time has once again arrived for most people to revive their dreams, with the most prevalent being unarguably to become so rich as to be ranked at the very top of the Forbes list of Billionaires. While for millions of people it remains just that, a nice but extremely difficult dream to realize, it would surprisingly seem that for some die–hard dreamers, it is a constant lifelong objective that must be obtained by all means and at any cost.

Although, several organisations periodically publish their list of billionaires, Forbes continues to hold pride of place as the most consulted on the matter. Forbes however has severally acknowledged the difficulty of determining the true value and ranking of some of the billionaires on its list. The reason for this is not farfetched. Simply put, Forbes uses shareholders to make valuations for owners of shares of publicly traded companies. The problematic bit, essentially, are the guesswork processes to estimate the wealth of owners of private unlisted companies whose wealth are, in many clearly obvious cases, way ahead of billionaires with wealth based on fluctuating public shareholding.

Much as Forbes tries to monitor the genuineness of stock exchanges around the world, it acknowledges that it cannot reasonably vouch for the acceptability of the processes through which shares are handled in some of them; particularly those of companies in Africa and Asia, that is, emerging economies. This is particularly so in cases where over 90 per cent of the shares are owned by one person alone or along with close family members; with the result that the owners can upwardly manipulate the share prices to any level that they wish. We have seen this happen too many times in these climes, no one would be shocked to know its more prevalent than rare.

The continual bloating of the number of such shares, and the manipulation of the stock exchange process explains how a person that has managed to wangle his way onto the Forbes billionaire list can fraudulently continue to remain there and even move up the ladder. All these while operating in a dire economic environment that clearly belies such development. For those of us who frequently turn to Forbes with the dream of getting into their famous billionaire list, the hope is that Forbes will continue to act assiduously to ensure that anyone on the list deserves to be there. Just as important, that they are placed in their rightful position on the list.

One way Forbes can achieve this is to engage well informed, credible and impartial local analysts who are very conversant with the local business environment and who are therefore better placed to determine the true worth as opposed to concocted net worth of concerned individuals. That way, they do not continue to fall into the danger that continues to bedevil development organisations for instance; prescribing solutions to economies they do not understand, based off their experience and solutions that once worked in the climes they know too well. It is a diverse world, we cannot expect that a model that ones in one clime can get copied and pasted in another, without any form of tweaking to accommodate the economic and even cultural contexts of such places.

And so, to get back to the initial question of how one can get to transform his or her dream to the reality of being a genuine billionaire, one that can be cited byForbes, year in and year out, as one of the richest individuals in Africa and indeed the world, the answer may disappointingly be nothing more commonplace than the need to tirelessly work hard and be blessed with extraordinary good luck.

Breaking: Presidential Candidate Accused of Owing Social media influencers

The Accord Party's presidential candidate, Chris Imumolen, has been accused of owing several social media influencers' money for services rendered during his campaign.

The influencers claim that they were hired by Imumolen to promote his campaign on social media and were promised payment upon completion of their work. However, they say that Imumolen has failed to fulfil his end of the deal and has not paid them the agreed-upon amount.

The influencers have come forward with their accusations, alleging that Imumolen has ignored their requests for payment and has even blocked them on social media in an attempt to avoid addressing the issue. Some have even claimed that Imumolen has threatened them with legal action if they continue to speak out about the unpaid debts.

The accusations have caused a stir among the public and have raised questions about Imumolen's credibility as a candidate. Many have called for Imumolen to address the accusations and to provide proof that he has made efforts to fulfil his obligations to the influencers.

Imumolen has yet to make a public statement regarding the accusations, and it remains to be seen how the issue will impact his campaign.

“Atiku has come to restructure Nigeria. Atiku has come to give our children good education. There will be no Boko Haram, there will be no kidnapping, there will be no abduction.

“All of these are going to stop but it has to start with you people. If you give Atiku your votes come February 25, that is when it will be possible for Atiku to make you great.

“I employ you, don’t sell your conscience. Don't sell your vote. I know there is hunger in the land and it is APC that brought all these predicaments to us but if Atiku is voted for, Atiku is going to change the state of this country not just Osun alone.

“The youths are the most unemployed in Nigeria and Atiku has promised women and youths 60 percent in his cabinet and he is going to fulfill it. Atiku is a man of his words, he matches his words with action.”

Also at the rally, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke noted, “If Atiku Abubakar becomes the President of Nigeria in 2023, Nigeria is sure to develop and prosper.

"Atiku will restore the economy, security, agriculture, education and health; he will ensure that the nation is united. Atiku is an experienced man and the only candidate that can rescue Nigeria from its various problems and challenges.”

He added:

“Under Atiku as Vice-President, Nigeria was the largest economy in Africa. Atiku will direct Nigeria to the path of development. He will restore the rule of law and due process. Atiku will secure the nation.”

Urging the people of Osun to vote enmasse for PDP in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election, PDP’s Vice-Presidential candidate said, “I urge the people to vote for Atiku Abubakar as he is the only person that can rescue Nigeria from its economic woes.”

On his part, the national chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu urged the Osun people to vote for all PDP candidates during the 2023 polls.

Also speaking, the chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, noted that Atiku is the best man for the job because of his knowledge and experience in governance.

Politics / Chatham House: APC ‘window-dressing’ Tinubu – Dele Momodu by InoutNaija(f): 5:48pm On Dec 06, 2022
Chatham House: APC ‘window-dressing’ Tinubu – Dele Momodu

The Director, Strategic Communications of the National Election Management Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Dele Momodu, Tuesday, chided the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, over what he called his less than impressive engagement with his audience at the Chatham House, United Kingdom, on Monday.

Momodu said chieftains of the APC were ‘window-dressing’ Tinubu on a global stage.

Tinubu’s performance has continued to draw mixed reactions, particularly from the opposition parties who were left unimpressed by the candidate’s decision to throw some of the questions he was asked to the APC chieftains including the Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi.

In a piece titled, “Weep not for Tinubu but Nigeria,’ Momodu slammed the handlers of the former Lagos state governor for causing the nation a huge embarrassment on a global stage.

“Call it what you will, what happened at Chatham House, London, yesterday (Monday), was a complete charade. The Tinubu handlers fumbled, and bungled it big time. They showcased him like a packaged invalid. It would have been better to present him as a brilliant politician and administrator, warts and all, who is capable of independent thoughts. No man is perfect. His gaffes would have been more pardonable and acceptable. He was expected to sell his own vision and mission.

“But what we saw yesterday was a theatre of the absurd. It brought back memories of our great former President Umaru Yar’ Adua and how he mysteriously disappeared from radar and some of his aides governed by proxy. I was one of those who led the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest against the Yar’ Adua cabal in Abuja in 2010. What was unacceptable then is even more unacceptable now with benefits of hindsight. Our country should be placed above friendship.

I was one of those who led the ‘Enough is Enough’ protest against the Yar’ Adua cabal in Abuja in 2010. What was unacceptable then is even more unacceptable now with benefits of hindsight. Our country should be placed above friendship.

Truth is, the problem of Nigeria is often aggravated by the voluptuous ambitions of some acolytes who wish to remain eternally relevant in the corridors of power at the expense of the long-suffering nation,” he said, adding that “all those around Tinubu yesterday (Monday) knew the bitter truth but chose to fool Nigerians.”

He continued, “One of them was heard in a viral video telling Tinubu to dance to the popular song ‘Buga’ by Kizz Daniel because “that’s what the youths want to see,” and lo and behold, Tinubu instantly transfigured into an accomplished choreographer.

“It is very sad, and unfortunate, that whenever we think Nigeria can never sink deeper into the abyss, something occurs that jolts us out of such assumptions and complacency.”

The PDP campaign spokesman recalled that seven years ago, incumbent Commander-in-Chief did a good job when he appeared at the same venue to engage with the global audience.

“I was with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the day he visited Chatham House seven years ago. He was solid and charismatic. He needed no one to prompt him. He answered questions eloquently and intelligently to the best of his abilities.

“That is what Tinubu was expected to accomplish yesterday (Monday). What he did instead was like inviting helpers to sit the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination. It is horrifying to watch some respected intellectuals like El-Rufai and Fayemi as they struggled to window dress Tinubu on a much hallowed global stage,” he lamented.

2023: You have no reason to Vote APC - Atiku Tells People With Disabilities

…..As PDP inaugurates PWD campaign council

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar (GCON) has told People With Disabilities, PWD, not to vote the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

The former vice president who stated this while speaking at the inauguration of PDP’s People With Disabilities National Campaign Council, said the APC has failed to implement the persons with disability’s law despite the passage of the bill by the National Assembly.

His words: “APC has refused to implement the PWD law and you have no reason to vote APC again. I really want you to identify your membership and tell them to vote for a party that has recognized you and has given them a special place which is PDP.

“Let me congratulate you on your inauguration into our presidential campaign council as well as the celebration of World Disability Day. You contribute your own quota to the economy and we in the PDP recognize you and that is why we have given you a special place in our party’s constitution and campaign council.

“Some persons have said the number of persons with disability in Nigeria is 19million, 20 million or 25 million, but let’s assume you are 20million. If we get all of you to vote for us, we don’t need others then. So really, you are important to us.”

Inaugurating the PLWD campaign council, the national chairman of the PDP, Iyiocha Ayu, said the party is inaugurating the council simply because the PDP understands the pain and value of PWDs.

He said: “I am happy that it is out party that is giving these special people this opportunity and if you look at our party, you will find persons with disability in top positions.

“We have a senator who is PWD, we have a NWC member who is a PWD, we have a state assembly member as well, and our governorship candidate in Niger, who by God’s grace will win the gubernatorial election. So I want you to take this opportunity seriously and ensure our victory.

On his part, Grand patron of the PLWD council, Hon Isa Liman Kantigi noted that Nigerians have no alternative than to go with PDP if they don’t want the country auctioned.

He said: “It is on record that PWD don’t leave polling unit until they vote, and their votes count, therefore, I want to urge you all to ensure you participate fully in all campaign and mobilization program to ensure our candidate wins the 2023 presidential election.”

Giving his remarks, the DG of the PDP PCC, Governor Aminu Tambuwal who was represented by the DDG of the council, Senator Liyel Imoke noted that the PDP recover agenda is an all inclusive agenda.

He also proposed that the D in PWD should be changed to Determination.

Ephraim Balarabe, a member of the PWD campaign council in his goodwill message said this is the first time persons with disability are being recognized in Nigeria, adding that it has shown that the unifier tag of Atiku Abubakar is not mere words.

Nigerians ‘ll never witness APC beyond 2023 — Atiku

…My husband will defeat Boko Haram, provide scholarships to students — Titi Atiku

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has promised to provide enough funds for education, praying that Nigerians will never witness a repeat of APC’s government beyond 2023, which he says brought untold hardship on Nigerians.

The PDP presidential candidate made this known at the party’s rally in Akure, Ondo state on Wednesday.

He bemoaned the state of education in the country which he specifically blamed the ruling APC over what he described as poor policy which he vowed Nigerians would never witnessed a repeat beyond 2023 if he is voted for.

She said, “ my people I, your daughter standing in your presence to tell that my husband has done it before. The last election was won by my husband but we were robbed. My husband indeed is a Fulani but he is not a killer and we have been together. I taught him our culture and tradition, and he is part of us.” During Obasanjo, it was Atiku that broght the likes of Elrufai, Ngozi Okonjo-iweala and others who did well for Nigeria”

On his agenda she said, “Atiku will defeat Boko Haram and provide you with scholarships”

On why they need to vote Atiku, she noted that “No Yoruba has ever been a First Lady and if we vote Atiku it a vote for Yoruba. There is hunger in the land, don’t let the opposition deceive you, vote all PDP candidates during election.” She pleaded.

Delta state governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa thanked the party leaders and the thousands of Ondo youths present at the rally.

He said, “ in the past 8 months the youths were at home and that shouldn’t be the case.

“Atiku has made provisions to ensure no University goes on strike as special attention would be placed on the youths of the country as well as set aside funds to support youths who would want to go into entrepreneurship.”

“As long as you vote Atiku, hunger and unemployment will be a thing of the past. Remain focus, go from

Ayu further noted that, “We must work together to ensure victory. Ondo should give the PDP the highest votes in southwest.”

“The country is in a bad shape, u need am experience leader to fix the country. Atiku and Obasanjo fixed the economy in 1999 and Atiku is coming back to fix the mess APC has created. He will unify the country, there will be jobs and security.”

Politics / Change Your Ways Or Prepare For Revolution In Two Years, Metuh Cautions Politica by InoutNaija(f): 11:48am On Nov 29, 2022
Change Your Ways Or Prepare For Revolution In Two Years, Metuh Cautions Political Class

Chief Olisa Metuh, a former spokesman of the PDP has urged the Nigeria’s political class to change their ways or prepare for revolution.

Mr Metuh in a statement said the revolution will happen in two years if the political class continues to showcase rascality and impunity; wanton abuse of influence, power and position “particularly in the midst of the near collapse of our economy and rising insecurity in our country.”

The statement reads in part; “The entire political class must stop this tomfoolery and listen to the drumbeat by the ordinary Nigerians. Nigerians are tired of the lack of empathy by the political class who continue to abuse their positions and exploit the national resources for their lavish merrymaking while the nation burns.

As a non-partisan statesman, it is imperative that I again caution our political class to, as a matter of urgent national importance, change their ways and cleanse their acts. This persistent assault on the sensibilities of Nigerians if not immediately halted may trigger a situation that may be worse than the October 2020 EndSARS protest with dire consequences in the polity.

Truth be told, Nigerians have suffered a lot; they are suffering with burning indignation against politicians and their families and, God forbid, such indignation has the propensity to trigger a revolution and complete anarchy within one year of the general elections, if our political class fail to cleanse its ways.

It is instructive that the Senators involved show remorse by apologizing to Nigerians while the Presidency takes strong steps to ensure that such abuse does not occur again.

For emphasis, Nigerians are not ready to condone any government, post May 29, 2023, that will continue to use or hire private jets, maintain guest houses, use long and exotic convoys or indeed use government resources to fund their excesses.

All those holding or aspiring for public offices must therefore brace up and be ready for transparency and integrity in office or steer clear of such public responsibilities.

I believe that Nigeria is destined to be great and I also believe that we have men of honour, integrity and passion for our nation who can fix our country and move it to greater heights.

Nigerians must therefore do their part to save our country by supporting only candidates that will work for the interest of the nation and not be driven by mundane desire for monetary gains, gratifications and lust for political appointments.”

Politics / Atiku Charges Women As PDP Inaugurates Women Campaign Council (read Details) by InoutNaija(f): 9:11pm On Nov 23, 2022
2023: Deliver votes, take leadership - Atiku charges Women as PDP inaugurates women campaign council

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON) has charged Nigerian women to take charge of the party’s presidential campaign by providing leadership, mobilizing and delivering votes at the 2023 presidential election.

The former VP made this known while speaking at the launch of the PDP Women Presidential Campaign Council held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Wednesday.

Atiku noted that nobody needs to tell him the importance of women in political process as women have largest voting bloc in Nigeria.

He said:-

“Women are less corrupt. So, I am challenging you to provide that leadership by giving your 100 percent at the general election next year. I charge you to display the unique attribute that God has endowed in you so we can succeed. If you want to be relevant, deliver your unit and i believe you can.

“I call on you Nigerian women to come out, campaign and vote and ensure those votes are counted and protected.

He added that women are the most loyal party members, “that is why we are supporting women to participate in our democratic process.”

“When i was VP, I visited a country called Sweden where i was to have a meeting with their government. It was headed by women. Their minister for finance was a woman, education minister was a woman, by the time i looked at my delegation and that of Sweden, i found out mine was full of men. I then committed myself that as long as i remain in politics, i will promote women.

“ And Between 1999 to 2007, we complied with the Beijing arrangement. Our main objective of setting up this campaign is to ensure your active participation and by that, we will identify those active talent and harness them to build this country.

On her part, the National woman leader of the party, Prof Stella Attoe noted that the PDP women will be the bedrock of mobilization and campaign for the party.

“Our strategy is top notch and we will gather all the votes from every home, unit, ward and local government to ensure victory of Atiku.

“We know where the votes are and we will mobilize dem to vote for our party. Nigerians cannot wait to have you restore their hopes and i believe this is the best time for Nigerianto have a leader like you.

“Women are ready to run this race for you as we hit the grassroots as we rigorously campaign for you,” she stressed.

Also speaking, the party’s national chairman, Senator Iyiocha Ayu said when the party’s presidential candidate was the VP, he head hunted most of the women in that government.

“When he was the VP, I know what he did to empower women. Some he head hunted have become Internationally known. He head hunted Ngozi Okonjo Iwela. When he becomes president next year, he will do more, pay special attention to women and this will help rebuild and recover the nation.”

Politics / Ortom’s Ceaseless Diatribes Against Atiku: A Call For Restraint by InoutNaija(f): 2:59pm On Nov 09, 2022
Ortom’s Ceaseless Diatribes Against Atiku: A Call for Restraint

By Terry T Waya

It has become necessary for me as a mutual friend of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, to intervene and correct some misleading insinuations peddled in recent media outbursts.

I wish to begin by stating that I have stood by Governor Samuel Ortom through all his political challenges beginning from his unfair treatment in the hands of the PDP landlords which forced his defection to the APC. I was one of the stakeholders who paved the path to his crossover to the APC where he was instantly rewarded with the gubernatorial ticket of the Party. In the course of his successful campaign to be Governor, I learnt my modest financial, moral and security support.

Sometime last year, my friend and associate of several years, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Wazirin Adamawa informed me that he needed to meet with my Governor, to sort out some issues that seemed to brew tensions between them as well as to seek his support in the PDP Presidential Primaries. I swung into action and got the Governor’s consent for us to proceed to Makurdi on a Sunday. I led a delegation of political leaders, who accompanied the Waziri to the People’s House in Makurdi where in spite of initial misgivings, the Governor hosted us very well.

Since then, Alhaji Atiku has always sought my counsel in every matter involving him and my Governor.

Shortly after the PDP primaries with Atiku emerging victorious, I was mandated to engage Governor Ortom for the purpose of peace, reconciliation and cooperation.

Several meetings were held in the pursuit of the above goals despite incessant attacks on the Former Vice president. I even engaged close members of his family, who advised that he should embrace peace to which he agreed.

To my greatest worry, the hostility became aggravated with the supporters of both parties and sometimes the principals themselves exchanging words.

I was once again brought in to help broker a meeting between the two leaders. When I approached Governor Ortom, he gave a condition which must be fulfilled before he could come to the roundtable. The condition was that Atiku must talk to him like he has been doing with the four other Governors. The Waziri agreed to the meeting after speaking with Governor Ortom, and they both agreed to meet upon the return of the Governor from one of his numerous trips abroad.

However, Governor Ortom backed out of the scheduled meeting because of comments by Atiku in Kaduna to the effect that Governor confided in him that Tiv people steal cows from his farm. I totally understand Governor Ortom’s anxiety given that this accusation is coming against the background that he had earlier called Tiv people drunkards.

Governor Ortom after yet another intervention from me demanded an apology from the former VP. Despite his age and status, Atiku bent over backwards and apologised.

I was still in the process of getting my two friends back together when matters took an ugly bend. Governor Ortom had gone to the residence of the PDP National Chairman Dr Iyorchia Ayu and rained expletives on him in the presence of Senator Gabriel Suswam. In that shocking encounter, Ortom called Ayu unprintable names like Fulani slave, corrupt politician, etc.

At this point, my appeal to Atiku to meet with Ortom led to Atiku seeking guarantees from me that such a meeting will not result in physical harm to himself, and neither should it become a platform to profile his race. Atiku also said the meeting must take place in my house.
My attention was later drawn to a video clip in which Governor Ortom openly disparaged the former VP and vowed “never to be a slave of the Fulani”.

This statement is to say the least reckless and does grievous harm to our behind the scene efforts to achieve reconciliation .

I can say with confidence that Atiku Abubakar in spite of the hostility still has a special fondness for Governor Ortom, and is still open for dialogue.

As the man caught up in the middle of this crossfire, I can say with confidence that there is nothing personal, neither are there any fundamental issues that cannot be amicably resolved. I know for a fact that both personalities are united in the common goal of winning the 2023 elections. There is therefore, no need to continue along the path of venomous attacks. As a senior stakeholder, who hails from Benue State, I shall continue to positively engage with my Governor and would not stop from telling him to refrain from being externally influenced to burn bridges he may need for himself and his people in the near future.

Presidential Debate: Okowa Outshines Others, Showed Class - Dele Momodu

The Director of Strategic Communications of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Dele Momodu, has described the performance of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa (CON), as top notch and very Presidential.

Dr Okowa who is the Governor of Delta state represented the PDP’s Presidential candidate, H.E Atiku Abubakar (GCON), at the Presidential Town-hall meeting organized by Arise TV media in Abuja last night.

Momodu noted that the VP candidate demonstrated excellent knowledge of the Akitu/Okowa programs and reeled them out while proffering strategic answers to questions thrown at him by the panelists.

“We are lucky to have Governor Okowa as our VP candidate and Nigerians can now see why H.E Atiku Abubakar picked him as his running mate. It was not a fluke.

“He not only sold our recovery plan, he gave practical solutions to issues. You can see how he comported himself to the admiration of Nigerians when some supporters of other parties became virulent . We also saw how he reminded the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, former Governor Peter Obi that up until May, he was a member and presidential aspirant of the PDP.

“Ours is a campaign to recover Nigeria and at every opportunity, we do not forget to sell this to Nigerians. This was what Dr Okowa did yesterday. We look forward to other engaging sessions like this and we at PDP are ready. We don’t shy away from debates unlike others,” Mr Momodu said.

Court Bars Edmark, Distributors From Importing Or Selling Products Except Through Receiver/Manager

The battle between shareholders of top multi-level marketing company, Edmark Direct Marketing Limited has hit a new twist as a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has issued a further interim order reaffirming the appointment of a Receiver/Manager and that the company, its distributors or any other person cannot import or sell Edmark-branded products except through the Receiver/Manager, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi.

In addition, the court ordered the Nigerian Customs Services and the Nigerian Police to assist the Receiver/Manager in prohibiting the directors of Edmark Direct Marketing Ltd (and their agents) from circumventing the Receiver/Manager in importing, marketing, selling and/or distributing the Edmark products.

In the Suit No: FHC/L/CP/890/2022 between Etim Maurice Anthony (Nigerian Shareholder) and Low Ban Chai (foreign shareholder), Edmark Direct Marketing, Edmark Direct Holding Limited, Wapiano Bienviendo and Jorolan Noel Noa before Justice  C.J. Aneke, the court's orders gives further effect and assistance to the earlier interim order and appointment of Receiver/Manager made on May 24, 2022.

According to the registrar’s notice of consequence of disobedience sighted by our correspondent, the court made a further interim order empowering the Receiver/Manager, Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi, a Legal and Insolvency Practitioner of Akinwunmi & Busari, to take into custody certain funds which Mr. Maurice Etim was entitled to in the hands of the third parties, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Furthermore, it directed all banks to attach the accounts of two Edmark officials/ employees:  Batusin Rey Cudeira (Head of Treasury)  and Abubakar Abass ( Branch in-Charge) for receiving  cash sales in circumvention of the court appointed Receiver/Manager.

The court also made an interim order directing all banks to attach the bank accounts of Edmark City Development Limited, ED2E Technology Nigeria Limited and Megawong Nigeria Limited and within seven days of being served the order, the banks should file an affidavit disclosing the statement of all accounts linked to the persons and entities earlier mentioned  from June 23, 2022 to date and serve same on the parties (through their counsel and to the receiver/manager.

That was not all, the court also mandated the persons and entities mentioned: Batusin Rey Cudeira , Abubakar Abass Edmark City Development Limited, ED2E Technology Nigeria Limited and Megawong Nigeria Limited within 7 days of service of the order to immediately give full account of Edmark's monies received from June 23, 2022 to date.

This latest order is good news for the Nigerian minority shareholder, Mr. Etim who had dragged the Foreign majority shareholder, Mr Low Ban Chai to court for arranging a forgery of his signature to appoint more directors in effort to edge the Nigerian out of the company, amongst other actions of oppressive, unfair and prejudicial breached against the Nigerian minority.

He also averred that his relevant rights such as right to attend meetings and vote, appointment and removal of company secretary, access to accounting records were breached.

In addition to prayers such as appointment of a Receiver/Manager, he wanted the court to appoint Deloitte Nigeria so it can conduct a forensic audit of Edmark and its affiliate company. The suit has been adjourned to November, 14, 2022 for further hearing.

Politics / 2023: Nigeria Can't Afford Hopelessness, We Will Recover - PDP by InoutNaija(f): 9:13am On Nov 02, 2022
2023: Nigeria Can't Afford Hopelessness, We Will Recover Our Falling Economy - PDP Campaign Organisation

The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation has stated that the PDP presidential flag bearer is worried about the state of Nigeria's economy noting that Nigerians cannot afford to reinforce the hopelessness as promised by APC's Bola Tinubu.

This was stated by the  Director, Strategic Communications of the campaign organization, Dele Momodu while  addressing a press conference in Abuja added that the party, as well as the candidate, is worried about the suffering caused by floods in the country.

Momodu said: “Our candidate is deeply concerned by the cost of living crisis which is daily worsened by the hyperinflation inflated on Nigerians by the ineptitude of the APC administration. We are assuring Nigerians that help is on the way as the policies enunciated with the policy document ‘Our Covenant with Nigerians’ will not only bring Nigeria out of poverty but also herald an era prosperity and sustainable development in a PDP government, come 2023.

“The Economy and the ‘Kitchen Table Issues,’ as the Americans will say, remain a focal point of the PDP Recovery Agenda.

“The PDP and our presidential flagbearers are worried by the unabating insecurity in the country. The recent security alert by some foreign Embassies and Missions in Nigeria, though dismissed as unwarranted by the government, are just a reminder of the perilous time we are in at the moment.

“We call on security agencies to be at the top of their game to ensure that none of the scary scenarios painted by the security alert come to past, while we also caution Nigerians to remain vigilant.

“The declaration by the Central Bank of Nigeria last week that it was going to redesign some denominations in the naira as expectedly generated varied reactions from Nigerians. Already, the value on the naira has plummeted since the announcement and efforts must be intensified to address the decline in the value of the naira.

Also speaking, the spokesperson of the campaign organization, Charles Aniagwu, said the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, provides a better alternative to revive what he observed as a falling Nigeria.

He said the former Vice President was engaging in multilateral and bilateral initiatives as exemplified in his recent trip to the United States to meet people and organizations who know how to solve problems.

According to him, Atiku did not go to the United States to prove that he can enter the country but in line with his mission to recover Nigeria.
