A bit of sad news here, The Tuition Fee has now been officially imposed on non-EU students willing to study in Finland starting from 2017, the Finnish parliament took the decision on Tuesday.

Update.

After sending God-knows-how-many emails to Migri and the employees wey I Sabi their emails then finally a call to them this morning... the lady who spoke to me said she would make enquiries and send me an email on Friday. make I no long this story, 15 minutes later, she sent me an email, make I summarize d mail:

"I have talked to my colleagues, a decision will be made on your case very soon, within one week. Have a nice day!"

Now I have to wait.

It's weird when u know u did everything right and wonder why things have be this complicated. I pray everything is resolved sha and I can get to Finland too.

SOA - was between 1.5M to 1.6M from when I uploaded my document till when I got the RP decision.... I earn about 170K after tax. Also know that I get other income from a property I inherited.

Longest time lady, nice too hear from you again. Sorry to hear about your application and sure next time with your Bsc certificate you will surely be accepted. I also had the sane issue, they gave me a deadline to supplement, so I had to quickly run to my school to collect my certificate ni o, they refused to approve all my applications because of it. I guess that must played a strong part in not getting the acceptance. It makes it more painful when i remember how narrowly you were able to get your English test result for the application.

Its much easier on android to do, just scan all your documents page by page to .jpg(much lighter) you only need two apps:

1. Docstopdf - converts .jpg to .pdf
2. Pdfmerge - it helps you to merge all your .pdf files anyhow you want, you even add and deleted whatever page you want from that single file .pdf and its very light

However, HOAS requires social security number to apply for an accommodation in Helsinki, but for naija here, me no sure say i don hear say naija dey get. Naija no be US. Abeg who understand this panya for this place cos son of man just confuse ni oo. I got Helsinki's admission. pks help oo!!!

Anywhere they are asking for social security number, just enter your date of birth, simple. Which of the campuses are u?

Hello my people! All bosses I hail O!

Please help me check my story to the embassy, I have N1.8m in my account now, 320k, 290k 220k and 130k are all in the deposited in the name of my siblings, like 600k in different fractions at different days came in from my sponsor's account. So the rest are transfers from my other account and cash deposits in my name.

My story behind it is: I won a scholarship of N600k ( N150k/session) during my undergrad. For real I did and event still have my award letter and acceptance notice.
The scholarship wasn't paid as at when due, so many time it was paid in Arrears, so I felt it was best that I invest it in my siblings businesses with the agreement between us just being verbal no paper work. I completed my youth service last year. So when pulled out my investment from their businesses those are the amount I got.


So what do you think people, is it believable, any red flag?

Especially for online application.

@Oga Sirkezman and Iceberg54 , Please I don't understand this University of Helsinki people O, they are saying I must pay for students' Union fee (€102) before I even secure my RP. They have made June 12th the deadline for me to accept my study place and July 31st deadline for enrollment. I can't complete my enrollment at faculty without paying the Student's Union fee. Though I can complete all these processes while still in Nigeria, is this the norm or there is another way around dis?

You have a very simple case nah, the biggest problem is now getting the money into your account shouldn't be problem. Look for sponsor to help you transfer from his own account into yours, since he's the sponsor, it's own account that should be under scrutiny. He can choose to transfer all N1.5M at once. He should just be ready to provide you all supporting documents.

You are considering not taking a student apartment? Pls apply for a student apartment asap. You can pay when you get there. Non-student apartments could be as high as 800euros per month. Some are more. Well..i dont know about cities outside helsinki though. Helsinki guys should apply to HOAS.

Please boss what's up with HOAS? They said on their website that we can apply for both furnished and unfurnished apartments, but after having a chat with them, they said Masters Students can only apply for unfurnished apartments that furnished apartments are only for Exchange students. We have to go and buy furnitures ourselves. I hope this won't be difficult to do, arriving in an empty room after a long trip no easy O?

Congrats to those offered admission and better luck next time to the rest. As you prepare your RP application, make sure all your documents are valid and if there is any problem with your waec result, recfity it before applying. a friend was denied last year because of age issues. Also if you are using a sponsor, make sure the sponsor has enough funds, and if he or she is not your parent, make sure there is a genuine believable reason for the sponsorship. Lastly, your RP comes with a starting and ending date, so when applying, put the earliest date you want to enter finland. In my own case, i put sept 1st, so even tho my RP came out in the third week of August, I couldnt leave till 2nd september. This is the lil i can remember for now. i'll add some others if/when i remember

I think am more concern about that WAEC certificate thing, I may have issues with that, I have changed the way my name was spelt drastically from what it's on my WAEC certificate and I have even added a middle name to my name after I have written my WAEC, also there is an error of day and month of birth on my WAEC certificate. Hahaha bro I no envy you O! I also got offers at Oulu, Turku, Tampere and Helsinki.

I guess choosing where to go for me was an easy one, definitely Helsinki plus I love all the programs i was offered in all universities equally, plus considering opportunities in Helsinki.

But I don't know how much u love the program u were offered at Turku, I think it's a nice City too, not far at all from Helsinki it's a busy students City, It has like 3 universities in it.

I would advice you to watch the video on their website it is titled " University of Turku -The campus that never sleeps" it's about 10min long, it's a nice video that would help to know more about the city.

AllI've been hearing about Oulu have not been pleasant sha best of luck as you decides
