Politics / Re: Oil Price Fall Below $30 Per Barrel Nigeria Summons Emergency OPEC Meeting by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 10:09am On Jan 19, 2016
A good step in the right direction. This is the only move so far by Buhari to fulfil his campaign promise of stabilizing the price of oil.

If Buhari had achieved stabilizing the price of oil in June, 2015 then we would've been singing his praises all along but he forgot to do the needful but thank goodness better late than never.

Sai Buhari.

The next is to work on strenghtening the value of Naira against foreign currencies.

Guy read the article slowly again. It's only Oil and non Oil revenues not Oil and Gas per se.

Anytime CBN makes presentation about revenue from Oil and Gas sector, if NLNG revenue is included, they will make a separate page or pages dealing with NLNG alone.

In Nigeria, NLNG remittances doesn't come with Oil although some outsiders mistakingly or ignorantly used to lump them together with Oil revenue

What I read is:

The CBN, in its Economic Report for October 2015, disclosed that oil and gas revenue in the 10-month period accounted for 55.93 per cent of the N5.847 trillion total federally collected revenue in the period under review.

NLNG money can't be captured because it's money from Gas not Oil. That one may be presented in a future date.

That's why when they tell you Oil accounts for less than 1trillion in the current budget. They lied, because they excluded huge monies from royalties and NLNG.

Even though Oil prices has gone down, Oil sales including royalties from IOCs and NLNG funds still accounts for over 60% of the current budget.

I like my country and Government and I want things to go well. But this government lies a lot, never seen before.

The record included Gas revenue as listed in the second paragraph.

Why was the $5 billion (one trillion naira) paid to FG in June by NLNG not captured?

This is like belching hot air. If you have any meaningful contribution to the subject then table it.

What is the difference between these two presentation.

1. A man sees you on the street and looks at you and reads from his bible thus "woe unto you hypocrite" and continue his preaching

And

2. A man approaches you walking on the street a calls you a hypocrite.

Every submission on this thread so far has no answer or the hidden truth on this subject.

This thread is above Nairaland discussions because of recent invasion of the forum by idle and non-scholarly minded people.

There are scholarly and intensive research works already concluded that can give you insight on this subject.

Search for them, there are many uncovered facts you will learn and some, you can't bear depending on your orientation.

I am really interested in how this plays out. Tompolo cannot be bigger than the government else it would be sending a wrong signal

If I was to advise the policy makers, I will suggest early amnesty for Tompolo by citing and enforcing the concept of “nolle prosequi” as inserted into the Nigerian Constitution.

“By this concept, the government has the power ‘to be unwilling to pursue’ and to stop any prosecution if it feels it may jeopardize national interest and stability,”

Does Dee mean Okenye or Onye toro mmadu?

Anyway, a 3 years old girl or boy calls a 5 years old boy "Dee".

Dee means someone older than you by a day and above and not necessarily an aged person.

Go back and read again may be now with your glasses.

Please don't reduce me to your level I beg you.

For clarity sake, see what I read below.

Mr. Metuh tore the statement after it was presented to him by the investigating officer for endorsement, as part of preparations for his prosecution.

“Rather than sign the document, Metuh on realising the weight of his confession, seized the documents and proceeded to tear them,” one of our sources said.

Now tell me how a voluntary statement wasn't signed immediately but was returned for endorsement after some days or even a week as a form of plea bargain?

This report said a written statement was presented to him for endorsement.

How can unsigned statement be attributed to Olisah Metu without his signature?

Does EFCC arrest people before evidence or the opposite?

This article is not only a fabricated lie but also a publicity stunt

The people that wants Otti are the same people that gave Abia State the two Orjis.

Ukwa Ngwa has always presented alternatives that were either rejected or rigged out by the support of the same people you cheer.

Go to my hometown and hear them vehemently tell you that no Ngwa man will govern Abia State.

The above is our predicament and not what you were anticipating.

Politics / Re: Why Are Most Igbos Towns Made Up Of 90-98% Igbos Or Native? by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 3:13pm On Jan 10, 2016
Eziachi:
@op I will ignore whatever you intent could be but I will answer you question honestly. First it is a myth and stereotype to assert that non Igbos do not reside in huge numbers across Igbo towns and cities.
There are a huge non Igbo population in cities like Enugu, Umuahia, port Harcourt, Aba, Owerri, Orlu, Onitsha and Nnewi to mention a few. They are mainly artisans and the rest are civil servants in places like Enugu and Port Harcourt were they work for the small federal establishments like the prison, police, customs and universities.
Trying to measure others with the Igbos in terms of traveling would amount to exercise in futility because it's natural for an Igbo to travel because he loved it, not because where he is heading is heaven.
It's like asking why non Nigerian Africans do not live in Nigeria, when it's obvious that they do but lived very low profile life and Nigerians on the other hand are very comfortable announcing their presence wherever they are across Africa.
When you go deeper outside artisans and civil servants as to why non Igbos do not settle in Igboland? The answer has to do with lack of incentive to do so in terms infractratures necessary for conducting business and investment like sea or dry ports, international airports, lack foreign missions and consulates. No federal establishment had its main or head office in Igboland. Just to name a few: Federal ministries, customs, Power stations, Dams, police, army, navy, air force, road safety, postal services, immigration, telecom, refinery, petrol chemicals. I can go on till tomorrow and non of these agencies has strong root worth mentioning across Igboland and these are things that attracts people or investors and may I add no train lines or railway services since 1940s in Enugu, Okigwe and Umuahia that transport live animals from the north. Terrible federal roads or lack of it, a dead trap Niger bridge.
So with all these absentees, who in their right mind would like to come and live if not only resilient and dogged Igbo people who are use to coping under conditions others cannot bear for a week in Nigeria?

Anything meaningful in Igboland is down to community efforts, generosity of wealthy individuals and lately the state governments since 1999.
The second reason is the cost of living in igboland is very high. For instance, a piece of land in Onitsha can get you an equivalent of three in other parts of Nigeria because traditionally no Igbo man ever sales his land easily even if he is poverty ridden because he believed that one day he will be rich enough to need it and if not his children will one day need it. Lol
It's a very competitive society that non Igbos find it impossible to exist. That caused many Igbo themselves to relocate not mainly to other parts of Nigeria but across the continent and made it uneasy for many non indigenous people to settle because how on earth will a civil servant be able to afford even a flat to live in a typical Igbo town when relying solely on his salary?

Every Igbo civil servant that I know, who is a civil servants treats their salariy as an extra earnings or pocket money and had never rely on it as their main source of income as they had other businesses. Many non Igbo do not do the same.
Finally, language in Igboland it's either Engli-Igbo or English. Most non Igbos has no interest in learning the local language. I know a Yoruba man from a local mosque in Orlu, who had lived there for more than 50 years but do not speak Igbo. The first thing an Igbo man will do is to learn your language, eat your food, wear your clothes, take your name for his kids. How many Yoruba or northerners has their child an Igbo first or middle name?
I always say that vast majority of Nigerian do know nothing about Nigeria especially Igbo man or Igboland because they are blinded by inherent stereotypes of what they heard or were taught, rather than reality.

Nothing to add.

You said it all

If your name is mentioned, and you know you received something (anything) be ready to face the wrath of the law which stipulates that receiving stolen goods or money directly or indirectly is a crime punishable by law.

We don't need any sycophant defending anybody for whatever reason. Let them face the court to prove their innocence.

What kind of opposition is the tribalistic op talking about when Obasanjo was defended by the AD while physically assulting the members of NASS that were about to impeach Obasanjo in the 4th republic?.

Was AD an opposition party when they deliberated adopting OBJ as their Presidential flag bearer in 2007?

It is only ANPP that has been in opposition in Nigeria because they have always nominated a presidential candidate while the same cannot be said of sectional party AD since 1999 (17 years).

For records, Hon. Nnanna Kalu (Orji Kalu brother) served all his terms in the NASS as opposition lawmaker.

Show me which section of the amended electoral act that am quoting wrongly

Read the clause two of what you posted very well which is applicable in this situation. Clause three does not arise because it doesn't satisfies the constitution and the electoral law as amended based on the portion of the laws in the bold below.

Mind you, no where in the Act does it say that a constituency or an LGA should be exonerated and invalidated as a matter of arriving at a winner rather it is a matter of calculation and tabulation to arrive at the number of valid vote scored according to collated results.

The Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) stipulates that where the number cancelled votes exceeds the difference between the number of votes polled by the candidate who comes first and the person in second place, a winner cannot be declared until the conclusion of a supplementary election in the areas affected by the cancellations.

108.Q. What is an inconclusive
election?

Ans. It is an election where the total number of registered voters in units where the results are cancelled or where the elections are postponed, are sufficient to cause a change in the outcome of the election in the affected constituency.

Politics / Re: Why Hasn't EFCC Arrested Tompolo...? by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 3:19pm On Jan 08, 2016
Once upon a time in 2007, EFCC came to Nweke street, Aba, the resident of Orji Kalu's mother with 50 operatives by 1 am in the night but couldn't arrest her because her Bakassi Boys engaged them throughout the night.

The following morning, Kalu accused Obasanjo and EFCC of attempted abduction and till this day, the EFCC is yet to effect the arrest for national peace.

May be the EFCC wants to apply the doctrine and concept of “nolle prosequi” as inserted into the Nigerian Constitution.
