I have been following your work and others like you in the property section for a while and I must commend you for trying to carve a niche for yourself.

It's good to see that you are now thinking beyond just building singular houses for clients to real property development.

I wish you the best as you take huge leap forward.

Politics / Re: Photos From Ibrahim Babangida's 75th Birthday At His Mansion In Minna.... by jawjaw1: 7:17pm On Aug 17, 2016
My prayer for him as he celebrates his 75th birthday is that he has a deep reflection on his role in placing Nigeria in the mess we are in today.

He was the first and only military ruler to name himself a president when he wasn't democratically elected.

His regime was the first to encourage the 'chop make I chop' syndrome in Nigeria.

He shared brand new cars to every military officer (who wanted) from government coffers just to appease them.

His government was all about settling his military boys with positions and sharing the 'national cake' without any accountability.

He cancelled the democratic process at least 3 times (after billions had been spent) just because he wasn't comfortable with the outcome.

His late wife (Maryam) started 'Better Life For Rural Women' programme where billions were spent that ended up being a waste and has no legacy today.

His regime was the first time Nigeria experienced a letter bomb that killed a journalist who it was rumoured had discovered a link between him and a suspected female Nigerian drug pusher called Gloria Okon.

He finally left Aso Rock telling Nigerians that he was just 'stepping aside' and handed over to a transition government (that had no legal standing) and thereby creating the vacuum for the crazy Gen. Abacha to seize power.

The list of his regime's atrocities are too long to put on here. My prayer is that as he celebrates and reflects that he will find it within his heart the strength to apologize to Nigerians for all the wrong he did.

All the same, I wish him a happy birthday!

Foreign Affairs / Re: Difference Between Trump And Clinton Brilliantly Summed Up In One Cartoon by jawjaw1: 1:08am On Aug 05, 2016
Most of the comments I see here are obviously from people who don't have a first hand understanding of what the political difference is between Trump and Clinton.

Trump is offering nothing else but an exclusion of the rest of the world from America. He is simply feeding on the fears of America's who support him. He makes them feel they are not safe, rich or happy because of the rest of the world. He tells them that immigrants and the rest of the world are stealing their jobs, or are coming into the country to kill them, or that the govt. is spending too much protecting others (NATO) thats why American's are struggling etc. The truth is that most of Trump's supporters have never been outside America before. They do not realize how blessed and lucky they are to be Americans and living in America at this point in time. Almost every country at this moment is going through some sort of economic/political struggle except the US that is to a reasonable extent stable. America is a great country, believe it or not. Its greatness to a large extent comes from immigrants who have made a huge contribution to what it has become and what it will continue to be. For Trump to be attacking immigrants and other ethnicities simply means he doesn't recognize their contribution and that is a huge shame to what America represents.

Let's for an example consider his plan to build a wall on the US border with Mexico. If the wall is built, where will America get its cheap labour to work on its farms that produces cheap food to feed the America populace and even export to other countries? How is he going to even force the Mexicans to pay for the wall without causing trade war that will affect the world economy? Its just not possible. He is threatening to cancel NAFTA, a trade deal between the US, Mexico and Canada. This will cause huge instability within the region.

Those of us who live in Canada will gladly lynch Trump if we get a chance to be in a room alone with him. If you hear the names music radio station OAPs call him here, you will shudder in amazement. They call him those names on live radio without hesitation.

Clinton on the other hand, despite her faults, is an experienced diplomat who has been involved in community service for decades and represents the complete opposite of what Trump is offering.

The world is praying and hoping (Nigerians should too) that Trump losses. If you as a Nigerian isn't then you simply do not understand the danger that lies ahead if he wins.

It's like these workers haven't smelt the coffee. This is the regime of PMB and prudence is the key word. Unnecessary and frivolous allowances are now a thing of the past, if not for anything else for the current state of the economy.

The only grouse I see they have here is if the minister has collected her own allowances.

If you think that Ngozi can save Nigeria from the lack of forex issue at hand, then my dear friend, you need to go back to kindergarten. The long years of relying on oil and importing almost everything we need has finally come to hunt us. The chicken has finally come home to roast.

My humble advise is that Nigerians should brace up for further hard times. Tighten your belt everyone, its going to be a long difficult ride.

Based on the level of impunity and the uncountable number of accidental discharges that have killed so many innocent Nigerians, only Inspector Samuel Timothy and the Good Lord know how many more innocent people he could have killed in his 33 yrs career. He seems to have been unlucky to have been caught and charged this time around.

Dear Inspector, brace up to your death sentence and make peace with God. I wish you a safe journey to the land beyond.

May your sentence serve as a lesson to other trigger happy policemen and women.

Sports / Sunday Oliseh In Talks To Be New Nigeria Coach by jawjaw1: 6:23pm On Jul 07, 2015
Sunday Oliseh is in advanced talks with the Nigerian Football Federation over becoming the new Super Eagles coach, BBC Sport understands.
The 40-year-old former midfielder, who captained Nigeria and won 63 caps, is set to be appointed in the coming days.
The NFF have acted quickly to fill the vacancy following the sacking of Stephen Keshi on Saturday.
Oliseh was part of the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and Olympic gold two years later.
He also played at the World Cup in 1994 and 1998, helping the Super Eagles to the last-16 at both tournaments and in the latter he scored a memorable winner as Nigeria shocked Spain 3-2 in a group match.
A member of the "golden generation" of Nigerian football stars, alongside Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Finidi George, Oliseh has been working as a pundit, sport consultant and Fifa Technical committee member.
Oliseh has little management experience, having coached only Belgian lower league side Vervietois between 2008 and 2009, but he does hold the Uefa Pro Licence.
He would take over from NFF technical director Shaibu Amodu and assistant coach Salisu Yusuf, who are are currently in charge on an interim basis.

Oga IGP, please don't let me question your ability to guide the NPF in the direction of change we are currently driving towards.

Tell us the police is making every effort to improve and I will understand, but don't tell me it is the least corrupt institution in Nigeria.

Just a trip between Agabara and Seme Border in Lagos will make anyone ashamed of what policemen who should be protecting Nigerians are doing on the road.

Personally, I was a victim of extortion a few weeks ago by young police officers from Aguda police station in Surulere, Lagos.

My opinion is that the NPF is in a critical condition and only a timely serious surgery can save it.

Serious if APC wants to cripple FFK completely, they should secretly dangle the opportunity of joining the APC to him and record all the proceedings. Knowing the kind of person he is, he will jump at the opportunity.

Then all they need to do is release the recordings to the public and pretend they don't know who leaked it.

I tell you after this, FFK will be finished politically.

Let's even look at it from another angle. Even if GMB and GEJ are the same, voting out GEJ and PDP is a way to show any govt in power that if don't perform we, the people, will boot you out at the very first opportunity we get. We can then try the other party and if they fail us in the next 4 years, we boot them out too.

Car Talk / Re: A Ghastly Motor Accident Along Akure - Ilesha Expressway by jawjaw1: 9:18pm On Aug 10, 2014
VolvoS60:

Those of us on these boards who are within a certain age group will remember when the FRSC was first created.

The 100km/hr rule was strictly enforced. The FRSC actually had radar guns (believe it or not) and they used them. If you wanted to avoid trouble with FRSC officials for breaking the speed limit you simply left home on time and planned your trip properly.

FRSC officials actually carried out vehicle inspection at the motor parks/garages and they made sure they enforced the rules on vehicle roadworthiness. Their officials stood out in stark contrast to the police.

Fast forward three decades and the Corps is a shadow of what it once was. The price we are all paying for that is the never ending carnage on our roads.

There is no law on God's green earth that says all good things are unworkable in Nigeria. All it takes is a reasoned choice by Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable and to insist that these leaders get the system to work for the good of all. (Failing which, these leaders should prepare for the consequences).

Until we grasp this simple truth, the pain, tears and sorrow will continue.

You are absolutely spot on. The average driver is the same all over the world. We would be in a hurry to get anywhere at neck breaking speed or detest driving at 50km/h when the road is free. The huge difference between the safety on Nigerian roads and roads in developed countries is the control. The police making intercity and highway patrols and aided with speed scanners and road side cameras provides the absolute control that prevents drivers from speeding to their deaths and causing the death of others.

For drivers in these parts of the world, the fear of a speeding ticket or demerit points on your licence is the beginning of wisdom. A speeding ticket can wipe away your savings or hard earnings in a day. The demerit points show on your driving abstract (driving record) and can deny you job oppurtunities. If the demerit points accumulate, your licence can be suspended and if you are caught driving without licence you could go to jail.

Its that simple, CONTROL is the answer. If you have an agency that adequately exercises control of driving behaviour on the roads all these needless accidents and deaths will reduce to the bearest minimum. The blame finally falls on government to build, fund and train such an agency. FULLSTOP.

I miss road side mechanics and vulcanizers. It is not the ideal thing to have them at the side of the road. But, mehn, they give you quick service and you move on.
If your car stops you on the road abroad, you have to wait for a towing car to come and move it to an autoshop and the labour bill to fix it na die.

Politics / Re: Understanding The Oil Theft Business In Nigeria (All About Stolen Crude) by jawjaw1: 7:15pm On Dec 04, 2013
A lot of what the Op posted is actually true and makes sense. However, I am sorry to bust your bubble of trying to exonerate GEJ. Why? you might ask. And I will tell you without a doubt, GEJ is the problem.
And my reason is thus:
The writer is very correct in saying that a solution to the problem is an international collaboration especially from the super powers; US, Britain, France, Russia etc. This is because they can treat this sale of illegal crude as an international crime and immediately most of its dealers will immediately disappear. All the buyers will vanish out of fear of being hunted down and jailed because there is no where to hide. At the extreme they can use technology such as drones to patrol the whole Niger Delta rivers leading to the ocean and even the international waters just beyond Nigeria and if necessary sink any boat or barge suspected of conveying illegal crude (that is if it is extremely necessary).

But like I said before, the problem is GEJ. The super powers DO NOT TAKE GEJ SERIOUSLY. How can you take a man seriously when he grants pardon to a man (Alams) that is wanted for jumping bail in the country of a super power? How can? When people do not take you seriously, how can they then trust you? As far as they are concerned, GEJ is protecting a man that is wanted by them for stealing and laundering money generated from the same oil he is now asking them for help to protect. In a way it means GEJ himself is involved and so they dont trust him to even support him.

For goodness sake, it is common sense.

I know the recent push in this case is political but who cares. If you have done the crime by all means you should face the music.

A lot of Nigerians (especially NLders) don't understand that having a strong opposition party is a blessing to every democracy. This story serves as a typical example. because his father is now in a somewhat opposition camp to the govt. in power, the govt. anti corruption agency is after him and exposes all his shady deals. In the same way the opposition fights back by investigating and exposing the central govts own shady deals.

That my friends serves to the benefit of the Nigeria people.

For me I was amazed by the how organized things are.
Everything to the tiniest detail is planned and executed.
For example, if there is a scheduled maintenance for the train system, the public is informed weeks before it happens.
On the day the maintenance starts buses are stationed to move people around the point where the work is being done. And it is done seamlessly.
Not even the harsh weather during winter (can get to about -45C) can stop the organized movement of people by car, bus or train across the city.
It is just amazing when you consider that I moved from a chaotic city like lagos (love the place though).
