This is the all-new Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The eagerly anticipated SUV marks a number of firsts for the luxury British brand; not only is it its first SUV, it’s the first Rolls-Royce with a tailgate and the first model that the company is happy to say is family orientated – at least in some versions.

JBCMotive was privileged to have a video of the SUV after its launch in Qatar. I was utterly dazed while the brand manager Tarek Moataz schooled me through the car's personality.

Whatever configuration you choose, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan claims to set new standards at the top of the burgeoning luxury SUV market. It's a proper go-anywhere 4x4, too, but with the mantra that it has to be ‘effortless, everywhere’ – it is a Rolls-Royce after all.

When you see the Cullinan in the metal, it appears surprisingly shapely and larger than you’d expect – at 5,341mm it’s only 2mm longer than a Ghost, although it’s 216mm wider at 2164mm. It also sits 80mm lower than a Range Rover long wheelbase. That striking bodywork is the result of five years of design work and the instruction to “go big” according to design boss Giles Taylor. “We didn’t want to be shy, we wanted a functional aesthetic look with no apology,”

“Yes, they are strong lines, but we wanted to magnify the sense of ultimate presence and capability.” The grille appears bigger than ever, sitting further forward than on Phantom, while the front lights are inset slightly with what Taylor describes as “tough brows”. The rear lights are inset, too, but without a chrome surround so they appear totally integrated with the bodywork.

The three-box shape with its two-stage tailgate and collection of horizontal and vertical lines is a development of one that, at one stage in the design process, was actually a booted SUV. The now shrunken bustle at the back still hints at a separate luggage compartment and that is partitioned off by a glass panel in some models.

“This is the supremely capable bodyguard to the Phantom, but it will never overshadow Phantom,” Taylor said. But it shares much with Rolls-Royce’s flagship, including its 6.75-litre twin turbo V12 engine and all-aluminium chassis that’s referred to as the Architect of Luxury.

The V12 has been specially tuned to deliver 850Nm of torque from 1,600rpm, while peak power is rated at 563bhp. Rolls-Royce doesn’t quote a 0-60mph time, but the top speed is 155mph. To ensure the Cullinan has appropriate road manners, there’s four-wheel steering as well as the four-wheel drive.

Not many Cullinan buyers will be too worried about the 18.8mpg average or CO2 emissions of 341g/km, but we’re told that the Architecture of Luxury platform has been built with electrification in mind and that it will underpin every one of Rolls-Royce’s future models.
That chassis features a double-wishbone front axle and five-link rear axle with air suspension that gets larger air struts than on Phantom with more air volume to provide Rolls-Royce’s magic carpet ride over the very worst terrain. Of course, the car will also drop down 40mm for what Taylor told us provides “easy access for all.”

This art should have been used to ferry Meghan Merkel at the Royal wedding in 2018 where Prince Harry looked dashing.

Engaging the Everywhere button between the front seats will change the car’s settings ready for what is claimed to be the most serene ride over the most challenging surfaces anywhere in the world.

This is a new name, and an additional model in the BMW range, without a direct predecessor. Even so, it’s hard to imagine a new arrival that needs less explaining than the BMW X2.

So it’s a crossover for people who are willing to compromise on back-seat and boot space (though not that much). In return they get sleeker looks and a slightly sportier drive.

Rivals? Well since the X1 faces up to all those Audi Q3s, Mercedes GLAs and indeed the new Jagaur E-Pace, then BMW’s official hype talks of this being the vanguard in some sort of new category. But ask the man who led the project and he’s candid: it’s the Ranger Rover Evoque. A vehicle that the Germans were surprisingly slow in challenging.

Since the Evoque’s sales have put a vast amount of butter on Land Rover’s bread, you can assume the X2 will do the same for BMW. Talking of sales, in 2017 the X-prefixed models accounted for one in three of all the BMWs flogged around the world. That’s only going to grow, as in 2018 the X7 launches, as well as this X2.

It’ll be bought on style, so let’s talk about that. It doesn’t look like a shrunken X4 or X6, which to most eyes is a mercy. The tail is shorter and more vertical than theirs, to make it more parkable because it’s aimed at urban people. BMW has simplified the surfaces along the sides. If you like designer-speak, the BMW pencil-operatives call it ‘precision with poetry’. Whereas the more frantic creases of the X4 were ‘romantic’. Ah, remember ‘flame surfacing’?

It’s not just surfacing that’s new. The wheel arches have gone a little Countach on us. The absence of a window behind the rear door leaves space for a wide pillar punctuated by a BMW badge. They say this alludes to classic BMW coupes including the 3.0CSL Batmobile. Could it also be because otherwise you might not, from the side, immediately recognise it as a BMW at all?

At the back, an outer plastic skin on the tailgate allows its surface to be flush with the bumper. The tail-lamps have a new-to-BMW bordering crease – see the Ford Ecosport for details.

Up front, the kidney grilles have been effectively inverted, wider at the base than the top to make the thing apparently sniff the road. The version in these shots, with M Sport X trim, is rocking a load of grey plastic around the lower grille as well as down the sides.

Kidneys, a gaping mouth below, triangle recesses to the sides, angular lights, round fogs? It’s bedlam. The base version has a simpler lower nose without all those clashing shapes.

Inside, you can have plain cloth or leather, or go all rucksack with mesh fabrics, suede inserts and contrast stitching.

As it’s based on the X1, this means BMW’s transverse-engined platform. All very familiar stuff. Mostly four-cylinder engines (one petrol three-cyl later, no sixes ever), some AWD but front-wheel drive for the base cars.

The same platform also resides under the Mini Countryman, but the engineer who led both the Countryman and X2 projects says they feel very different, thanks to different springs, dampers, roll-bars, bushes, steering racks, etc. He also points out that every visible interior part is different between BMW and Mini – except the boot-opening switch in the driver’s door.

From the start the X2 selection box has 20i petrol and make about 190bhp.

Earlier this year, Facebook confirmed it was trialling Reddit-style upvote and downvote buttons on public posts, with the aim of improving the quality of discourse on the platform. Now, it appears the feature is rolling out to a greater number of users.

With its downvote button, Facebook is putting a lot of faith into its users. It wants people to use it to flag what Facebook calls “bad comments,” which it defines as having “bad intentions or is disrespectful.” It’s making great pains to emphasize that this isn’t a dislike button. That said, it’ll almost certainly be used that way.

You really can’t fault Facebook’s optimism though. It’s launching this feature when most people are intimately familiar with Reddit, where a downvote is frequently used as a signifier for disagreement and dislike.

Facebook will struggle to change that mindset, especially when the upvote button works identically to Reddit, and is used to highlight comments that are “helpful or insightful.”

This feature isn’t rolling out to every user. From what I can tell from Twitter, the majority of people who’ve gained access to the new upvote and downvote system are based in Australia and New Zealand.

We’ve reached out to Facebook to ask about their plans for its new Reddit-style comment feedback system, particularly as they relate to its roll-out. We will update this post if we hear back.

Lamborghini’s first SUV, the unmistakably ’80s LM002, was a military-grade brute powered by a screaming V-12 engine. While it seemed completely offbeat at the time, it turned out to be prescient given today’s ever-expanding array of ultra-luxury, high-performance SUVs from the likes of Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Maserati, and, soon, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

So there’s no time like the present for Lamborghini to jump back into the fray with the 2019 Urus. The company’s second ever SUV is over the top, too, but for completely different reasons than the LM002. The Urus, which derives its name from an ancient species of cattle, stuns with its 641 horsepower, its dramatic wedge-shaped silhouette, and its ambition to be as capable around a racetrack as it is on the sand dunes.

Under the hood is the first turbocharged engine ever to be installed in a production Lamborghini—and the first V-8 in many decades. It shares its 4.0-liter displacement and twin turbochargers with the V-8 installed in many other Volkswagen Group products, but Lamborghini insists that the design is its own—a claim augmented by the V-8’s distinctive sound. Output sits at 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, each number second among sport-utes only to the decidedly lower-rent, 707-hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Urus also will eventually debut Lamborghini’s first hybrid drivetrain, although we don’t yet know any details about the gas-electric model.

The underpinnings of the Urus aren’t as distinctly Italian as its V-8, as it shares the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform used in the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne, and the Bentley Bentayga. At 201.3 inches long (and riding on a 118.2-inch wheelbase), the Urus is 1.7 inches longer than the Q7 and 7.4 inches longer than the Cayenne Turbo. And at 64.5 inches high and 79.4 inches wide, the Urus is quite a bit lower and wider than the Q7 and the Cayenne. Lamborghini assures us that the Urus will outperform each of those corporate cousins, with a claimed top speed of 190 mph (3 mph higher than the Bentayga) and a reported zero-to-62-mph time of 3.6 seconds.

Of course, the Lamborghini will feature its own chassis tuning, too, and rear-wheel steering and an air suspension that offers up to 9.8 inches of ground clearance are part of the package. The all-wheel-drive system uses a locking center differential with a default 40/60 front/rear power split that can send up to 70 percent of the torque to the front or up to 87 percent to the rear. A rear differential allows for torque-vectoring capability. The carbon-ceramic brakes are absolutely enormous, with rotors measuring 17.3 inches in front and 14.6 inches in the rear, the better to decelerate the roughly 4850-pound Urus.

A lineup of driving modes including Corsa (race), Sabbia (sand), and Neve (snow) will diversify the Lambo’s skill set. In Corsa, for instance, the all-wheel-drive system routes more power to the rear, and the torque-vectoring and stability-control thresholds allow for a bit more slip. In Sabbia, the stability control is similarly recalibrated to accommodate the low-grip surface. Good luck off-roading, though, with the Urus’s available 23-inch wheels mounted on unique Pirelli summer tires, size 285/35R-23 in the front and 325/30R-23 in back; 21- and 22-inchers will be available, too, as will all-season rubber.

Predictably, the interior takes a form-above-function approach, with numerous exotic leather, wood, carbon-fiber, and metal trim options available. Screens are everywhere, including a large digital gauge cluster, a fairly conventional-looking central infotainment display, and a lower control touchscreen that is reminiscent of the unit in Range Rover’s new Velar. Sitting inside the Urus, we found rear-seat room to be adequate, although headroom is a bit pinched by the sloped roofline. Both four- and five-seat configurations are available, while the roofline and the sharply raked liftgate mean that the cargo area is deep but not tall.

Its exterior design is mostly cribbed from the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, which was also gorgeous inside and out. The overall look is far sleeker and more dynamic than the current model. The new Continental GT has sharp body lines, sculpted rear haunches, and taillights in the shape of ellipses that mimic the exhaust outlets. Ouch again.

The overall profile is lower and longer than the current Continental GT and the front wheels sit more than five inches farther forward, which allows for a longer, lower hood.

LED matrix lighting—which is not currently legal in the United States thanks to regulations—is incorporated into the headlights and the entire units are art, according to our eyes. The lenses feature a design that Bentley says was inspired by the "finest cut-crystal glasses."

Inside the cabin you'll find a space filled with leather, wood, chrome, and LCD screens. The dashboard wraps into the door panels with a wood veneer, while the 20-way adjustable seats and door panels feature quilted leather.

Bentley claims over 107 square feet of wood will be used in each of the new Continental GTs, and that it takes nine hours to create and fit all the inlays, which is a process done almost entirely by hand.

The new Continental GT's infotainment system is straight out of a Bond movie, we say. The 12.3-inch infotainment screen is part of a rotating three-sided display unit that rotates between the touchscreen, three analog gauges, and a book-matched piece of wood veneer. The touchscreen is complemented by a digital gauge cluster in front of the driver that looks like Audi's Virtual Cockpit, albeit with very Bentley-esque touches.

The standard sound system has 10 speakers and 650 watts of power, but a Bang & Olufsen system featuring 16 speakers, four DSP sound modes, and a 14-channel 1,500-watt amplifier along with Beo Sonic control interface is available. For true audiophiles, Bentley will offer a Naim 18-speaker system with two Active Bass Transducers, a 21-channel 2,200-watt amplifier, and eight DSP sound modes.

While the new Bentley Continental GT can't drive itself, its navigation system is integrated into the adaptive cruise control system that reads the road ahead to help slow for an upcoming corner or change speed for an upcoming grade. A forward-facing camera can change the car's cruise control speed in conjunction with speed limit signs, if that's what you're into.

Power is provided by an upgraded 6.0-liter W-12 borrowed from the Bentayga that now makes 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. In the name of efficiency, the W-12 can shut down half its cylinders under certain conditions, and start-stop is on-board as well. The start-stop system can also help the Continental GT coast to further reduce fuel, though Bentley hasn't given details as to how this works, yet.

The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and drive is sent to all four wheels via a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system.

Performance is impressive, with Bentley quoting a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds and top speed of 207 mph.

Underneath its metal skin, the new Continental GT features a 48-volt anti-roll control system that's integrated into the car's suspension. It controls electronic actuators on the anti-roll bars to improve ride and handling by counteracting lateral rolling forces when cornering, i.e. physics. The air suspension system uses three-chamber air springs allowing for a softer ride than the current model.

Like most cars in this price range, the ability to customize is nearly endless. A total of 17 exterior paint colors are available, with 70 more in the extended range. Inside there are 15 carpet options, eight different veneer choices, and 15 trim choices.

The new X3 is slightly larger and roomier than its predecessor, as you’d perhaps expect, but more importantly, it feels a more mature vehicle to drive, quieter and more composed on the road, and laden with BMW’s latest technology. You can tell this is a product that’s now core to the BMW brand.

This model comes with a 355-hp/369-lb-ft version of the 3.0-liter turbocharged I-6 under the hood and a bunch of sport-oriented mechanical components and appearance items.

The new BMW X3 2018 rolls on BMW’s new and highly flexible KLAR architecture, which also underpins the new 5 and 7 Series models. Compared with the previous X3, it’s about 2 inches longer overall and about a half-inch wider. More importantly, the wheelbase has been increased by 2.2 inches, which means a welcome increase in rear-seat legroom. The exterior design is an evolution of the previous X3’s, though it articulated the current BMW house style, with fuller surfaces and softer lines. It not only looks more sophisticated than the old X3, especially riding on 19- or 20-inch wheels, but also boasts an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.29.

It is a pity that we do not have a binding labour law in Nigeria. All that Nigeria Labour Congress knows is to propose strike actions. The govt. should enforce as a law, a comprehensive labour law that should be endorsed by both employees and employers and be approved by the labour department at the local government level.

I just want to thank God for saving my family last night from the clutches of the enemies, most especially my dad and mum, cos I don't know the kind of story I would have been telling this morning.

As about 12am my mum woke up to do her daily midnight prayers which she ends by 1am, and as of then there was no nepa power, and daddy was sleeping inside their own room,immediately after my mum finished her prayers, and went in, they brought the light, the next thing she saw was this Bird fly inside their room, to attack, fortunately for us my mum who doesn't see well without her glasses saw it and started shouting, then my dad woke up and started to battle it until he brought it down.

Now the question is, what would have happened if they hadn't brought the light?? Who knows what I will be saying by now.

I just want to glorify my God, because their plans has failed may him alone that has done this be glorified forever and ever. Amen! Please my bretherens let's us always pray, because prayers maketh the enemies plan to fail.

Thank you Lord Jesus."

As it is usually done, Mawater Qatar organised a parade of the Ford Mustangs last weekend. The event which is often held was open to all resident to participate although you are encouraged to register to get some benefit as a member.

Owners of the Ford Mustang flocked the street of Al Rufaa with their cars for the parade to the Mall of Qatar.

The event featured some of the early models of the Mustang; from the 1967 to 2017, these cars were immaculate from the paint job through the interiors to the engines, they sounded perfect.

You might be tempted to think for a second that they were all stock Mustangs as usual but their owners had in most of them done one or total modifications to their pleasing; from having a modified exhaust to fully redesigned body kit and interior modifications.

Of a truth, everyone loves cars no matter the shade of skin, class or gender. For a few, they want to carry-on the family's heritage, exploring new brands being cautious while for most, it is about style, design, functionality, passion for a brand or to satisfy their adrenaline thirst.

Which ever you may be, we hope you drive responsibly always.
