Health / Is Africa Ready For Covid-19? Ways Nigerians Can Remain Safe From Contracting Th by jobberland: 10:28pm On Apr 10, 2020
With a non-existent healthcare system, it's blindingly obvious that Africa cannot cope with any viral infectious disease outbreak, and this includes the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Does this mean Africans in general or Nigerians in particular are just sitting down waiting to be wiped out by the COVID-19 or the next pandemic? No! African nations including Nigeria is part of global health organizations that sponsor and conduct researches into different ways of stopping the spread of viral infections.

Their findings are published on publication sites like Researchgate or  their websites, and are accessed to all member nations of the world, whether the nation belongs to the league of those with a working health care system or they are in the league of most African nations whose health care systems are nothing to write home about. The most prominent of these global health organizations is the World Health Organizations, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The World Health Organization, since its founding, has been fighting to control the spread of infections across the world, and currently is at the forefront of the fight to put under control the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease.

So, how can Nigeria as a member nation of WHO utilize its finding towards controlling the spread of COVID-19 at home? And how can Nigerians remain safe from contracting the new coronavirus infection? The answer is simply following WHO's guidelines on preventing the spread of the viral disease.

Below we take a look at the tips for the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus disease as published by the World Health Organization.

1. Maintain Social Distancing

The World Health Organization advocate that people should maintain social distancing at this period of rapid spread of the new coronavirus disease. Maintaining social distancing basically means keeping a distance of at least 1 metre between yourself and the next nearest person who is sneezing or coughing. This is to prevent the liquid respiratory droplets that drops from their mouth as they sneeze or cough and which may contain the  coronavirus from getting into your own system.

When you are too close to someone who has the coronavirus disease, you can breathe in the infected droplets they spray when they cough or sneeze, thereby getting yourself infected and spreading further the disease.

2. Wash Your Hands Frequently

Regular washing of hands is a basic hygiene that is old as mankind, but it has never been as necessary and has never been this highly emphasized as it is now, a situation caused by the spread of COVID-19.

The World Health Organization advises that regular and thorough washing of hands using soap and water is very necessary to stop the spread of the new coronavirus disease. The organization also advocates rubbing of alcohol-based hand rub or hand sanitizer.

Thorough washing of hands with soap and running water or rubbing of hand sanitizers kills the virus that may be present on your hands before you transfer it to your body system by touching your nose, mouth, eyes or other openings in your body.

3. Avoid Touching Your Eyes, Nose, and Mouth

Nigerians should avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth to keep themselves safe from contracting the new coronavirus infection.

We use our hands to touch many different surfaces everyday, from currency notes, to taxi door, to the shiny steel railing on the local mall' staircase. These surfaces may be contaminated with virus like the new coronavirus, and when we touch them, our hands also get contaminated.

Our contaminated hands, if not washed thoroughly, can transfer the virus to our eyes, nose, or mouth. And from there, the virus can easily be breathed into our system and we thus get infected. The World Health Organization strongly advise we desist from touching our nose, eyes, or mouth to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus through this means.

4. Practice Respiratory Hygiene

Another way Nigerians can keep themselves safe from contracting the new coronavirus disease is by practicing good respiratory hygiene. This is also as recommended by the World Health Organization.

How can Nigerians practice this good respiratory hygiene? You should cover your mouth or nose with your elbow bend or tissue paper when you sneeze or cough, and then properly dispose off the used tissue paper as soon as you are done. We've already learnt that respiratory droplets spread the new coronavirus. So when you practice good respiratory hygiene as explained above, you protect the people around viral diseases like the COVID-19, in case you are already infected.

5. Seek Medical Care Early If You Show Symptoms

If you start showing symptoms of the new coronavirus disease like fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention or alert the local health authority which in the case of COVID-19 in Nigeria is the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The NCDC are best placed to advise you on what next to do to protect people around you and prevent the further spread of the disease.

Education / Preparation For Jamb And Aptitude Test: Ten Simple Study Tips by jobberland: 2:57pm On Sep 03, 2019
This type of exams always opens a long term and advanced study time before its actual date. Give yourself the best chance with these top ten study tips. Every examination or test needs acute preparation. Making haste whilst the sun rises, is always the best strategy. Before taking such examination:
1. Give yourself enough time to study: Don't leave it until the last minute. Despite what people say, cramming all the information into your brain the night before isn't the best way to approach an exam. Set out a timetable for your study. Write down how many exams you have and the days on which you have to sit them. Then organize your study accordingly. You may want to give some exams more study time than others, so find a balance that you feel comfortable with.
2. Organize your study space: Make sure you have enough space to spread your textbooks and notes out. Have you got enough light? Lighted room plays a vital role in encouraging your brain to learning. Is your table and chair comfortable? Are your computer games out of sight and any other thing that may catch your interest? Try and get rid of all distractions and then arrange your books into piles. Put your English books and every other books in another pile, so when it’s time to study for that exam, you've got everything you need in front of you.
3. Make a flow chart: This is a bit like brainstorming, but instead of coming up with new ideas, you're writing down everything you already know about a topic. Put it in an easy to follow diagram with key points that you can easily replicate in an exam. That way, when the exam commences, you can spend five minutes preparing for your answer and then expand on your ideas.
4. Practice on previous year’s exam questions: It's always good to find out what kind of questions are going to be in the exam and the best way is too look through previous year’s exam questions. That will give you an idea of the layout of an exam, the number of short answers and long answers there will be and the amount of time you should be giving each section.
5. Explain your answers to others: Parents, little brothers and sisters don't have to be annoying around exam time. Use them to your advantage. Explain an answer to a question to them. That will help you to get it clear in your head. If you find it difficult to explain, perhaps you need to do a bit more study. But at least you won't turn up to the exam and realize you don't know the answer to a question!
6. Organize or join study group with friends who had earlier taken similar exam: You may have questions that they have the answers to and vice versa. Your social life doesn't have to be non-existent during study times. Some people find it difficult to read in group. Others prefer studying alone. My advice here is, pursue whichever method that works well for you.
7. Take a break: Don't force yourself to sit studying for 24 hours. If you were training for a marathon, you wouldn't try and run 24 hours to be perfect. Develop a study routine that works for you. If you study better in the morning, then start early before taking a break at lunchtime. Do something mindless in the afternoon and then start studying again in the evening if you know you're more productive at night. Don't feel guilty that you're out enjoying the sunshine instead of hunched over your textbooks. Vitamin D is important for the brain!
8. Snacks on 'brain food': Keep away from junk food and opt for a bowl of nuts instead. They're much better for the waistline and for the brain. You need to fuel your body while you study so make sure you eat nutritious food that has been proven to help your brain focus such as fish, nuts, yogurt and blueberries/strawberries.
9. Pack your writing materials: Make sure your pens work well and your pencils are sharpened. Nothing is worse for your nerves than having your pen run out of ink at the start of an exam. If you're sitting a mathematics or science exam, make sure you have all the necessary writing materials you'll need as well as rulers, compasses and calculators.
10. Stock up with water: Being well hydrated is essential for your brain to work at its best, so remember to keep drinking water regularly. There comes a time in every student's life when those things that you dread begin to loom on the horizon. Depending upon how confident you are about them, your horizon will either be measured in months, or maybe days. What am I talking about? Of course I mean examinations.

Education / What To Do A Week Before Your Exam… by jobberland: 9:43pm On Sep 02, 2019
This may seem a long time preparation, but note that when circumstance meet preparation, success is sure! A period of one week may sound long but believe me, once a day is spent out of it, what remains are hours. So use this time to:

1. Compile all your study materials: Grab your syllabus and run through your notes with it quickly to make sure you have all of the topics covered. If you’re missing something, find out what and why. Did you miss a class? Was something else in your schedule? Figure out what you’re missing and then try to justify it.
2. Double check your notes with another student: Ask your classmates if you can borrow their notes from the class you missed. And be willing to offer up yours to them. Other students are one of your best study materials. After all, they’re in the same boat with you. Chances are they remember something you don’t, and vice versa. But remember, borrowing notes from your classmate is not a substitute for attending classes. Your hand writing adds much to your information memorization.
3. Make yourself a practical test: Now that you have all of your notes, begin to test your knowledge of them… Before you study. Not only will it give you an idea of how much you’ll need to study, but it will also point out your strengths and weaknesses; thereby spelling out areas you need to lay much emphasis…
4. Ask the teacher/lecturer about any point(s) that you’re still unclear on: Once you know your weaknesses in the class, determine how you can fix them. Do you just need extra study time or are the concepts unclear? If you’re unclear on any concepts, visit him or her during his/her office hours and ask him/her for some help. He/she will appreciate that you care enough to clear it up. He will also be impressed to add more to you.

The Night Before Your Examination

Get rid of all of your distractions: Log out of Facebook, WhatsApp, Wechat, LinkedIn, etc, turn off your cell phone. Let your friends know that you won’t be available for chit chats or dorm room chats. Install no-Disturbed or a distraction-blocking program on your cell phone. It’s time for serious revision, and that is best achieved without interruptions – digital or otherwise.
• Briefly review all of your study materials: There are some materials that you just don’t know: For whatever reason, it just stuck in your mind the first time. So don’t waste valuable study time reviewing that same material over and over again. Give all of the material a once over and then move on.
• Spend your time focusing on the areas in which you have difficulties: Don’t worry about how much time you spend on a particular area. Just worry about making it click in your mind. It will all be worth it when you see that question on the test and don’t have a panic attack.
• Get some sleep: All that studying will be completely useless if you fall asleep during the test. So don’t try to pull an all nighter. Start early and then head to bed at a decent time.

The Morning of Your Exam

• Don’t study new topic the morning of the examination: If you know it, you know it. If you don’t, you don’t. There’s no use trying to fill your brain with last-minute facts that just won’t stick. Instead, take the morning off. Have some breakfast and head to the examination hall.
• Get to the examination venue early: Don’t be the person who shows up after the examination papers have been circulated. Not only will you disturb or distract everyone else but you’ll also lose valuable time.
• Dress comfortably: The way you dress determines the way you’ll be addressed, is our popular maxim. Don’t dress to be the cynosure of all eyes. Let your dressing be moderate, and not to be suspicious of carrying microchip.
• Take a deep breath: Relax, be calm, let it go, you’ll be fine, it’s only a final. So don’t let the stress get to you. Do your best and then let it be. Just think: By this point, it’s almost over.

Nairaland / General / Help Needed: I Had Sex With My Girl And She Was Wider by jobberland: 6:26am On Aug 04, 2017
Good morning nairalanders, this seems to be a pressing issue and can decide the status/continuity of a my relationship with my gf as we speak. Its almost a year relationship, approximately 10months now.

What happened: My girl had her monthly flow (menstruation) from 26th of last month and ended 31st of July, that is last month. she visited and we had a little fun, but during the process, i noticed she was a little bit opened as opposed to our previous encounter. so i stopped and attributed it her menstrual flow, insisting her flow caused the little expansion and that it will get back to normal after some hours or days.

Now, she visited yesterday been 3rd of August and when we were about having sex she showed kind of a little bit resistance/reluctance but due to the temperature of the mood she concurred and when i entered it was so roomy and quite wider than usual that i didn't felt anything but she made a screamy noise ( i supposed she was forming it). Immediately i removed my gun and asked her what happened and she said nothing.

I asked her what happened that her V...was more opened that before and insisted if she met someone else or ......she said no and that she had done nothing, and probably her V...opened by itself and maybe it will go back to normal..........

So i need an experienced and well taught advice on this issue because .......breaking up is the next action on my mind......because i care for my life, career and future a lot........

Health / Ways To Take Care Of Your Man-hood Which Will Make You Last Longer In Bed by jobberland: 2:39pm On Jul 30, 2017
Your daily behaviours play a big role in whether your erection can rise to the occasion every time. Of course, sometimes, problems with your erection aren’t exactly your fault, as experts agree that genetics and certain health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease can make it hard to get erection.

However, a urologist, Dr. Ryan Berglund, says in order to get uncompromising blood flow to your man-hood to enable you get a healthy erection, do the following:

1. Wake up with coffee: Your beverage of choice in the morning can play a role in how well you perform in the bedroom later that night. Research from the University of Texas Health Science Centre at Houston found that men who consumed the caffeine equivalent of two to three cups of coffee a day were less likely to report erectile dysfunction issues than guys who don’t drink coffee. The study authors say that caffeine has properties similar to Viagra, and the stimulant helps the arteries in your man-hood to relax and your blood flow to increase — both factors necessary for a strong erection.

2. Sweat it out. Yes, exercise is not only good for your heart — your man-hood benefits, too. Berglund says men who do regular aerobic exercise tend to have healthier blood vessels — which are crucial for erections — than overweight, sedentary men. And the more intensely you exercise, the better your man-hood health seems to be, as noted in The Journal of s*xual Medicine. Exercise may help your body create a compound called nitric oxide, which helps you get and maintain an erection, the study authors told us.

3. Eat plenty berries, oranges, apples, pears and drink red wine. According to a study from the UK of over 25,000 men, those who ate more than three servings a week of berries, oranges, red wine and apples, were 19 percent less likely to develop erectile dysfunction over the 10-year follow up than men who didn’t eat them. This is because compounds called flavonoids — which are abundant in these foods — can improve blood flow by making your arteries more flexible, in turn, helping your man-hood, the study authors say.

4. Stop smoking. Whatever’s bad for your heart is bad for your man-hood. So, quitting smoking is the way to go. In a study of over 2,800 smokers, researchers from Iran discovered that 25 percent of men who quit smoking reported an improvement in their erections within one year. In comparison, none of the guys who continued smoking experienced erection improvement — and seven percent of current smokers said their erections actually got worse during that year. Cigarettes’ main ingredient, nicotine, is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it impairs the ability of the arteries in the man-hood to dilate, explains Dr. Berglund. And when blood flow to your man-hood is compromised, so is your erection.

5. Relax. Stress is a serious s*x-killer. Not only do stress hormones like cortisol inhibit your body’s ability to get an erection, but stress has a way of squashing intimacy, a huge part of a successful s*xual intercourse, says Dr. Berglund. The higher levels of cortisol men had, the lower their scores were on tests of s*xual functioning, which includes things like how confident they were they could get an erection, how often their erections were hard enough for penetration, and how often was it difficult to maintain an erection during s*x, a study from Japan found.

6. Stop alcohol. Booze might make you feel like you’re a s*x machine; but your man-hood will tell you differently. That’s because alcohol messes with the nerve function that creates an erection, explains Dr. Berglund. It’s also a depressant, which means by the time you think you’ll be roaring and ready, you’ll likely simply be exhausted.

7. Take care of your teeth. What’s going on in your mouth can affect your erection: Men with periodontal disease — or gum disease caused by a build-up of plaque — are about twice as likely to have erectile dysfunction than men with healthier gums, a review from Nature concluded. “Poor dental hygiene has been linked to increased inflammation in the body and with cardiovascular disease risk,” says Dr. Michos. That’s because chronic inflammation can damage the delicate cells in the inside of your blood vessels, which are critical for proper erectile function.

Health / How To Accurately Measure Your Penis Size by jobberland: 11:28am On Nov 10, 2016
Penis size is mostly the cause for concern for almost all men. It is simultaneously the main subject of dubious research into male Instruments. inaccurate measurements that usually come from self-report studies, are often picked up by bloggers and media, who misrepresent the findings as having empirical value.
In order to accurately measure your penis size, you must have an erect penis.
A limp penis will not give you the full penis size. How you choose to accomplish this task is up to you.

Even when being truthful, many men mistake how penis size should be measured and measure it incorrectly. By doing this men distort their perception of their own and the average penis size. We will attempt to challenge these errors and provide a guide to measuring penile dimensions correctly.

Be that as it may, you can't move any further in measuring your penis estimate until your penis has accepted the correct position.
Measure Penis Length

Begin off by measuring the length of your penis. Utilize a ruler or measuring tape and position it at the base of your penis, where it appends to your body. Try to press into the pubic bone similarly as you can on the grounds that fat can really shroud the length of your penis. Measure your penis length by stamping to what extent it is from the base, the distance to the end of the tip.

Next, you'll measure your penis' bigness, that is, the outline or thickness. For this progression, utilize a bit of string (or something comparable) or a delicate measuring tape. Tenderly wrap the string one time around the thickest part of the pole/body of your erect penis. Check where the string meets, then measure the string separation with a ruler.

You could likewise do a similar thing with the delicate measuring tape, and simply stamp the estimation once you stretch around the penis.

You may likewise need to know the width or distance across of your penis since a few condoms give this estimation. You can decide your penis width or breadth by taking the size estimation you got and separating it by 3.14. The number you get subsequent to doing this is the width of your penis.

So I Measured My Penis - What's the Average Penis Size?
Presently you have a smart thought of your penis estimate, you can contrast it and the normal penis measure.

Regularly, the normal erection has a penis length of around 5.5 to 6.3 inches (139.7 to 160.02 mm). The normal penis bigness goes between 4.5 to 5.1 inches (114.3 to 129.54 mm), and the normal width is around 1.4 to 1.6 inches (35.56 to 40.64 mm).
