Meanwhile to change the subject from exchange rates and FPIs, the coupon payments for FGN bond 2026 & 2034 were paid/received on time wink Happy Days wink

Please are you comfortable with SCB 2% commission (secondary market). I think it is high. Please does anyone know of a bank with commission lower than that for bond purchase. Thank you

Exactly, apart from better rate a no WHT on dividend is one of the advantages of mmf over fixed deposit and some other investment windows.

Please is WHT deducted on FI mutual funds because FBN FI is above 11%.

There is nothing to worry about it's a system configuration of must trading platform.

This is how it works: Anytime shares enter your account on the trading platform apart from any purchase made by you, it goes in at the current market price so what you see is like you bought MTN at say 194 or there about even though the offer was 169 which is not on the trading machine presently. The real value of your MTN is what you see on your cscs statement. Same thing happens if you move your stocks from one house to the other, If you want those stocks to appear on your trading platform instead of just on your cscs, the stock prices will be calculated with the price at the date of the movement even though you didn't fund your account you will see a .

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Offcourse yes, the ave cost does not determine the mkt value of the shares. I just like seeing the actual %gain/loss at a glance in the portfolio summary report of MC. Thanks once again.

Hello my people,

I just noticed that my MTN public offer has been updated in my MC trading account. The total number of shares is correct, but the Ave cost is wrong. Should I need to escalate. I was expecting an average cost of 168.5, as my previous Ave cost was 168 before the PO units, but to my surprise the current Ave cost is now 180.1.

Please advise. Thank you

You can do Technical analysis, Fundamental analysis, you can seek Alpha and find Beta. You can calculate the Sharpe ratio, apply the Black-Scholes model, and read Bloomberg and some lad will buy and HODL Shiba Inu coins and tweet “WAGMI” with those rocket emojis and outperform your portfolio by a country mile

This got me cracking grin

Yes, fixed income fund managers know the trick by converting part of the bonds to cash at the right time.

Some investors sold at 70% and more profit last year and packed the funds into equities during the lockdown of 2020, they are now on decent profits

Thank you Oga Emma. So it is possible for fixed income fund to outperform Sukuk and FGN bonds?

The SCB secondary market yields are too low relatively.

I got to know about it very late, about 4 years ago.

Just monitor inflation, interest rate and stock market perform

Thanks for the information. I guess the capital appreciation also applies to fixed income funds.

Please note when shares are bought through public offer, allotment is not done immediately. There is always a schedule of activities from the period of the offer till allotment.

Allotment of shares is done by the registrars in collaboration with the issuing house and cscs.
Whether you bought through a broker or the bank it's the same procedure.

The information on allotment will be published on the NGX when it's done.
Just be patient.

Thank you

Please for those who bought the recent MTN public offer, when are they receiving their shares.

A friend of mine bought through a stockbroker using his trading account, but he's yet to get the shares. His stockbroker said MTN is yet to release those shares.

Your explanation will be much appreciated.

Thank you

I opened with Morgan Capital and the minimum to start trading was N5,050.00

After that, you can even test the waters by buying shares worth 50 Naira or even less, like 2 units of zenith bank and 2 units of First bank shares

Your account will actually be funded with N5k and can be completely used for trading. The N50 is for stamp duty.

The interest is earned daily by simply interest and it's compounded when u decide to reinvest your interest at d end of every six month.
So if you picked reinvest option, the accrued interest from the day you join till June 30th would have be reinvested July 1st so the capital plus that interest becomes the new principal and it goes on and on (compounding)

You can see daily accrued interest when you check the fund statement after you login. The principal is clearly separated from the interest and the interest changes daily while the principal only changes when you top up or your interest is reinvested.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Whenever I log in, I only see the total accrued interest as at today. I don’t get to see the previous accrued daily interest like a schedule. I hope you get my question.
Investment / Re: Mutual Funds by joboy834: 5:43am On Jul 03, 2020
Oga Emma, please is the VGIF fund daily return calculated using simple or compound interest?

Secondly, how can someone check the daily accrued interest of previous days. It seems the online platform only shows the total sum of the accrued interest.

Thank you

Congrats to you guys. I would rather advise you guys to chill with respect to house hunting because after being allocated to different units, it is a different distance entirely.

Peeps in cips are advised to rent apartment on the mainland most especially close to ikeja and its envrions

Peeps in fsip shld be on the island or closer to it because most of their clients have HO on the Island.

RAS guys can be anywhere because their cclients are virtually everywhere. Lol

Tax n advisory office is at oniru. I will strongly advised you should be at the island or closer to it. Mainland places closer to the island are iponri, alaka, closer areas along the ikorodu road e.t.c

Anyway this is not a hard and fast rule, but strongky advise you to wait after posting before renting an apartment.

See you all soon!

I get you phonon but it is just an innocent question and you knw from the previous thread i created i got an offer from both KPMG and PWC but it seems the opinions i m getting are mostly from pple who work there or prefer PWC. It would be nice to get an opinion from someone who has actually worked in KPMG. I hope u understand now.

Lol. Well I applied for the graduate internship role at that time thinking after some months I will be converted to permanent staff, but to my surprise the otherwise happened.

Anyway,I think both firms are great. KPMG is great I must tell you. But the stress there na die, and I believe that applies to PwC also but not to full length(as explained by pple).

In terms of pay, PwC surely pays higher than KPMG at entry level ,but I think the pay for seniors in KPMG is higher o ,because when u become a senior in KPMG your pay jumps sporadically. Anyway both firms are good. Lastly, I think life-work balance is prevalent in PwC, even my KPMG folks can testify to that.

Phonon: I actually don't care;just wondering. What we do is more important than the title.#whistling and frying his chicken# Hee!

@phonon and all, congrats. In kpmg, u will start as an SA(staff assistant). After a year you get promoted to ESA(experienced staff assistant), then another year or 2 u get promoted to an Associate, then a semi-snr(SS) then to a snr associate which has 3 levels(S1,S2,S3). At S3, u are an asst mgr. After S3 is Manager.

Mind you, it is almost the same with PwC. It is just the title that is different.

Years. KPMG. PwC
entry. SA. A3
level

One. ESA. A1

Two. Associate. Snr Associate 1

Three. S1. S2/S3(depending)

The firm will only reimburse you for exams taken while you were in their employment and not before then. If you happen to be in Assurance then CFA is not part of your development needs and as such will not be paid for by the firm. You can only take CFA at your own time and expense.

Pls kindly explain how the Out-of-station allowances work in PwC

I hope it is not treated as advances(short-term loan) for staff expenses which needs to be knocked off ur receipt for expenses and a remainder is returned to PwC. I hope it doesn't work like that

Please I need explicit explanation on how this out-of-station works in PwC and if it is given irrespective of the state and client u re working on, because I know KPMG doesn't pay such. I worked in KPMG and they never pay such. So saddening!
