In The Early Days Of The Administration, Achuba Wielded Significant Influence, Owing To His Age And Political Experience As A Former Principal Officer In The State Legislature. The Governor Relied Heavily On His Counsel On Major Policies And Programs Of Government.

Prior To The Defection Of Alh. Atiku Abubakar To The People’s Democratic Party, Sources Said Achuba Was “In Close Contact” With The Former Vice President.
That Didn’t Go Well With Governor Yahaya Bello, A Major Backer Of President Muhammadu Buhari. Keen Watchers Of The Nigerian Politics Knew The President And Governor Bello Enjoys A Father-Son Relationship.

An ICT Guru Based In Lokoja Who Craved Anonymity Said The Deputy Governor Might Have Been Cut Off By The New Payment System In The State That Involves Biometric Data Capturing.
“I Don’t Know Why He Has Not Been Paid. But The Reality Is That We Don’t Even Know Whether We Have A Deputy Governor In Kogi State Because He Has Abandoned His Duties For Over A Year Now. He Doesn’t Come To The Office And He Doesn’t Attend Any Public Function. The Only Time We Hear About Him Was Whenever He Wanted To Attack Government.
“This May Be An Unhealthy Situation And His Letter Coming A Day After The Release Of The Bailout Meant For Workers’ Salaries Has Not Projected Him Well.
“Even The Governor Did Biometric Data Capturing To Qualify Him For Payment. I Am Not Sure The Deputy Governor Was Around To Do Same. I Will Advise Achuba To Thread Softly On This Issue. How Can He Be Asking For Salaries When He Didn’t Work?”
An Aide To The Deputy Governor Told Newsbar247 That He Was Not Permitted To Speak On The Issue. When Prompted Further, He Said The Deputy Governor Has Done What Is Lawful By Demanding For His Wages.
“He Remains The Deputy Governor Of The State And Should Be Paid His Wages. As Long As He Is Still The Deputy Governor, He Deserves His Pay.
“I Will Urge The Relevant Authorities To Resolve The Issues Amicably”, He Said.

Political Implications
While Some Pundits Are Of The View That The Governor Should Avoid All Crisis And Harvest All Supports Ahead Of The Governorship Poll In The State, Others Are Of The View That The Deputy Governor Had No Impact In The Last Election. It Was Alleged That Despite The Deputy Governor’s Open Support For The People’s Democratic Party In The 2019 General Elections, The All Progressives Congress Won His LGA.
A Source Told Our Reporters That The Achuba Factor Doesn’t Determine The Ibaji Politics Anymore As The Governor Is Said To Have Altered The Political Architecture Of The Area.
When Contacted, The Director General Of Media And Publicity To The Governor, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo Refused To Comment On The Issue.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello Receives the President of the Christian Association of Nigerian, CAN, Dr Samson Ayokunle. The CAN President is in the state to lay the foundation of the Government House Chapel, a place of worship for the Christian within the Government House. This is happening for the first time in the history of the state since it's creation about 27 years ago.

The CAN president presented the book of T.D Jakes with the Title "Soar" to Governor Yahaya Bello stating that reading the book will enrich the governor with more wisdom in his duty as leader/Governor of the state. The CAN president prayed fervently for the Governor and the state before proceeding to the venue of the programme.

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH DELIVERED BY RT. HON. PRINCE M. O. KOLAWOLE, MEMBER REPRESENTING KABBA/BUNU CONSTITUENCY AT THE KOGI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS ELECTION AS THE 13TH HON. SPEAKER OF THE 7TH ASSEMBLY. THIS DAY 6TH JUNE 2019.

It is with heart full of joy and appreciation that I humbly accept my election as the 13th Hon. Speaker of the 7th Legislative Assembly. I give glory to the Almighty God that made it possible for this noble House to elect me to lead them as Speaker of the 7th Assembly. I will ever remain grateful to you all.

On behalf of myself, members of my family and the good people of Kabba/Bunu Constituency, I sincerely express my deep-rooted gratitude to the Distinguished Honourable Members of this 7th Legislative Assembly for finding me worthy to be elected as the Speaker of this noble House.

I pray that God will guide and protect us and He will give me the needed wisdom and knowledge to pilot the affairs of this noble House to an enviable height.

I want to sincerely thank His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State for his love, concern, commitments and unalloyed supports and cooperation to this noble House.

Also on behalf of the immediate past members of the 6th assembly, and the incoming Members of the 7th Assembly, I sincerely appreciate His Excellency for finding out time out of his tight schedules to attend this inauguration session.

My special thanks to members of the Kogi State Executive Council (Exco), my very good brother and friend Hon. Chief Edward David Onoja, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kogi State, Chairman and other executive members of our great party, All Progressive Congress (APC) for their supports and contributions to my being elected as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly. May God grant you all good understanding to join His Excellency in piloting the affairs of our party and the state to a greater height.
