• Currently businesses across the globe spend close to $200 billion yearly on content marketing and this figure is expected to increase to $313 billion in 2019.
• This shows that there are huge job opportunities for both undergraduate and unemployed youths who are interested in building careers in the content writing or content marketing.
• If you are an undergraduate interested in building a career in Content writing please note that the job is more that uploading a few or random post on twitter, facebook or instagram. In today’s competitive social space where content engagement is synonymous with sales, organizations are constantly searching for individuals that can generate compelling content that will get people excited about their brands.

Content writing is an online creative writing designed to sell or promote a specific product or service.
A content writer must have good writing skills to write in a number of style while sustaining target market’s attention. Must have great research skills to discover and understand what motivates the consumers online, must be able to build contents around these topics know a bit about search engine optimization to make content appear on search engines and ultimately know how to create engaging CTAs which prompt users to buy willingly.
As an undergraduate interested in building a career in Content Writing
• Develop your skills by joining a writing club or association
• Become an admin of an online community research and upload engaging topics to grow the membership of the group
• Research how to write engaging articles to sell a product, leverage different social platforms and popular site to market examples of your work.
• Develop a portfolio of your articles this portfolio should include the numbers of articles written, links to the articles, the level of engagement viewers had with your articles
• Take an online course on content writing -You can find some free courses on Udemy & Coursera. If you do all of these religiously, you would have succeeded in building a foundation for your career and if you're looking to get a few projects try searching for freelancing content creation jobs on goggle. While these jobs don't pay very well, they can be your future references for the higher-paying jobs.

Do you know that a Language Speech Therapist earns good income and we have shortage of them in Africa? But what exactly do they do you might ask? It is estimated that between 10-15% of children, are born with disabilities yearly. Part of these are developmental disabilities. This statistics shows that - there is huge opportunity for unemployed youths to build careers to address the manpower gap in the care industry. Developmental disabilities describe a variety of physical and intellectual disorders and the common ones are: Autism and Down Syndrome. Many of these developmental disabilities actually do not have a cure but symptoms can be greatly improved with therapy sessions from highly trained therapist. In my own opinion if you have genuine passion to care for people and you want a rewarding career you should consider developing a profession as
• Behavioral therapist,
• Occupational therapist ,
• Physical therapist, or
• Speech-language therapist

Do you know that there is shortage of speech-language therapist in most African countries to help special need children master the act of communication. A speech therapist works with children who have delay in their language and speech skills, or adults who have difficulty communicating after a major sickness to learn and improve their speech. And because they are in short supply in Africa and even in advance countries a speech-Language therapist earns attractive salary. If you are interested in building a career in this field you might want to start by
• Doing an extensive research in developmental disabilities
• Identify the area you want to specialize in
• Volunteer in a special-need children school
• Take courses in Speech language therapy or in your area of interest.

Goggle the average salary of a speech therapist to have an idea of the salary range, but above all let the passion of caring for people be your motivation because currently many of special need children are out of school due to inadequate manpower to nurture them.

Most people wait until after graduation before searching or preparing for the job market but in my own opinion as an HR Professional this time is rather too late. I know that the challenges of your studies might put so much burden on you and all you want to do while in school is to focus on your studies alone but there’s no harm in learning some things that will help you increase your chances of getting a good job after graduation.
I therefore want us to embark on a journey together, in this journey I’m going to be sharing with you …
• A list of Emerging Jobs - Believe me the traditional types of jobs like administrative and clerical that most graduates search for are fast disappearing
• How to develop competencies needed for the Emerging jobs even while still in school
• How to develop an impressive portfolio and increase your chance of getting better jobs
• How to make an income before graduation -
By the way my name is IBIRONKE OGUNMADE I have over a decade experience in Human Resources, over these years I have interviewed and placed thousands of graduates on jobs. I am passionate about helping the African youth identify emerging jobs and get legitimate stream of income.

20 Tips on Answering the Difficult HRCI Exam Questions
TIP TWO: Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally!

I hope that by now you have been able to digest and apply the first tip I gave on preparing for and answering difficult HRCI exam questions. This week I will focus on yet another tip.
Some of the options contain practices similar to ones we adopt locally in our different countries whether you live in Egypt, India, Cairo etc. These practices that we adopt locally are not necessarily standard but we are easily drawn to theses options because we use these practices on a daily basis, but I'm here to disabuse your mind. “Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally”. Gbenjo Olufisayo Assistant Human Resource and Admin Manager Vicmart( Procter and Gamble RD).

*In choosing your answers, you need to think of and select answers that meet global HR best practice and not what you do in your organization or country - Adetoun Adefala-ACIPM,PHRi™

I will further elucidate this tip with the following example:
1. Which of the following guideline relating to documenting employees’ performance is not correct?
A. Keep performance note on all employees
B. Document as situations occur
C. Focus on perceived underlying cause of deficiencies
D. Document only job related observation

Depending on how structured the organization you work- one of these options will readily jump at you;
Option A: when supervisors document employee’s performance, it is in line with standard best practice to keep notes on the employees they supervise to avoid forgetting their performance. Option “A” is acceptable on how to document employee’s performance so that’s not the answer
Option B: it is also in line with standard practice to document the employee’s critical event as they happen. (Please note that documentation is not the real appraisal it’s just to help supervisors keep track of various performance also to guide against different appraisal errors e.g – “Recency” or “Primacy effect”). If in your organization supervisors do not document as critical issues occur you might be tempted to select option B
Option D: it is in line with best practice to document only job related observation in a performance appraisal - nothing more nothing less (but if in your organization performance appraisal is use to document personal issues you might be tempted to choose option D)
Option C: Performance appraisal is used to document only job related observation and focus on subordinate’s deficiencies not the perceived underlying cause of the deficiencies, (e.g. you shouldn’t write in an appraisal “Employee’s performance did not meet standard because I think she had marital problem”. Option C is therefore the correct answer.

CIPM Exams (Chattered Institute of Personnel Management) - Last minute preparation for your CIPM Examination
Becoming CIPM certified involves rigorous preparation; whether you are preparing at the foundation, Intermediate or Professional levels your ultimate aim is to become certified. One thing is sure the CIPM certification is well recognized in Nigeria so you have taken the first step in showing that you take your HR career seriously. If you are preparing for this exam I wouldn’t bore you with the details that you can find on the certification website. I would rather concentrate on details that you can’t find anywhere else. My focus is on helping you pass the CIPM exam. Please take note of the following details as you prepare.
• About 70% of the CIPM professional exam is made up of written/essay format
• Fill-in the gap and multiple choice questions make up the remaining 30% of the exam.
• There is no doubt about the fact that the certification is standard and structured to ensure that HR professionals are well grounded in HR knowledge area and so a study pack might contain 100 or more different concepts which students are expected to master in preparation for the exam.
Tips for your last minute preparation
• The best way to prepare for an exam that covers a lot of topics, concepts, knowledge areas and ensure mastery of all is through the use of TEST BANK. A Test Bank is used to help student gain mastery of a broad range of knowledge over a short period
• Test Bank is designed in multiple choice questions format with detailed explanation as answer and help users focus on retaining details needed to answer essay questions
• One of the strength of a TEST BANK is that it contains multiple choice practice question that covers all the topic in a certification and this forces students to be familiar with a much broader range of material than essay practice question.
• Using a well structured multiple choice practice questions in preparing for an exam helps students have a greater familiarity with details such as specific dates, names needed to answer essay questions
Compare the following questions; one that is from CIPM exam with one of the questions from our Test bank
 Example of CIPM examination question: List and define the three types of control based on timing?
 Example of question from our Test Bank: Management can implement controls before an activity commences, while the activity is going on, or after the activity has been completed. The three respective types of control based on timing are:
A. Feeder, collective and backward
B. Feed forward, concurrent, and feedback
C. Forward, immediate and afterward
D. Foreword, collection and backward
Answer B- Feed forward, concurrent, and feedback
Detailed explanation from our Test Bank- The three respective types of control based on timing are: Feed forward, concurrent, and feedback. feedforward control are proactive in nature it addresses what can we do ahead of time to help our plan. Concurrent control is real-time control because it deals with the present. Feedback controls involve gathering information about a completed activity, evaluating and taking steps to improve on similar activities in the future
It is guaranteed that a student who practiced with the above Test Bank will be able to answer the essay question because both questions are asking the same thing.
Compare another set of questions from CIPM exam with one of the questions from our Test bank:

Example of CIPM examination question: Discuss the role of “foot commission of inquiry 1948” in the Nigerianization of the public policy
Example of question from our Test Bank: What was the role of “foot commission of inquiry 1948” in the Nigerianization of the public policy?
A. It was set up to look at the role Nigerians in public offices were occupying and how it could affect public policy
B. It was set up to ascertain the impact of the second world war on Nigeria public policy
C. It was set up to confirm the possibility of giving access to more Nigerian in the civil service
D. It was set up to specifically give access to more northerners in civil service
Answer C- It was set up to confirm the possibility of giving access to more Nigerian in the civil service.
Test Bank detailed explanation: Before the second world war the civil service in Nigeria was strictly a colonial affair. The colonial administrative machinery was narrowly focused to handle the state function which was basically the maintenance of law and order. But Nigerians agitated for the inclusion of more Nigerians in the running of the civil service Thus the foot commission of inquiry 1948 was set up to confirm the possibility of giving access to more Nigerian in the civil service

Study Guide for PHRi-HRBP, SPHRi-HRMP exam-Decoding Difficult PHRi-HRBP, SPHRi-HRMP Exam Questions

The aim of this guide is to equip students with some practical strategies for answering and handling tricky HRCi exam questions. The language of the PHRi or SPHRi exam can sometimes lead to confusion about what the question is really asking. Try these techniques when you encounter a question with difficult or confusing wording:

Translate the question into your own words. Example;

1. Which of the following is not considered an advantage of the market-based job evaluation?

A. It is externally competitive

B. Insufficient data and possibility of poor job match

C. More legally defensible than the job-content evaluation because it relies on survey data

D. Is not an objective basis for negotiating salary with employees

1. The correct answer is option B- Insufficient data and possibility of poor job match

Please rephrase the question for better understanding; Which of the following is a disadvantage of the market-based job evaluation method? It is externally competitive – this is an advantage, so option A is not correct. The market based job evaluation method is less legally defensible unlike the job-content- option C is not correct. The market-based job evaluation method is an objective basis for negotiating salary with employees, so option D is not correct. Option B- obtaining salary information could be very difficult especially in growing economy and there is also the possibility of job mismatch- Option B is a disadvantage of the market-based job evaluation and the correct answer

If you have difficulty selecting an answer try checking the options to see if you can detect the knowledge area the question is testing this will also help to choose the right answer

2. As an HR personnel , you have been given the assignment to organize a company’s event. Which of the following would you consider first?

A. Company policy on events

B. Safety of staff

C. Cost

D. Timing

2. The correct answer is option B- Safety of staff

All the option in this question looks correct but by understanding the knowledge area the question is testing it would be easier to select the right question. In this case the question is on health, safety and security and as far as that knowledge area is considered when organizing a company event the first thing to consider is safety- safety first!

Watch out for distractors — bits of information that might distract you from the real purpose of the question. As you read the stem, cross out the distractors and underline the key points to help you maintain focus

3.Which of the following is an advantage of work/like balance to the employer?

A. Improved self esteem

B. Reduced absenteeism

C. Increased job satisfaction

D. More involved in family bounding

3.The correct answer is option B Please note that the question did not state – Which of the following is an advantage of work/life balance to the employee, any of options A, C or D would have been the answer in that case rather the question states- Which of the following is an advantage of work/life balance to the employer. The correct answer is Option B. Improved self esteem, Increased job satisfaction, More involved in family bounding are all advantage of work/like balance to the employee but reduced absenteeism is an advantage to the employer as this would help the company save money

The language of the PHRi or SPHRi exam can sometimes lead to confusion about what the question is really asking. Try these techniques when you encounter a question with difficult or confusing wording:

• Pay attention to small but important words, such as “Not” or “Always”
• If you have difficulty selecting an answer try checking the options to see if you can detect the knowledge area the question is testing this will also help to choose the right answer
• Pay attention to absolute terms, such as never, always or none. They often (but not always) indicate that the statement is false
• Watch out for double negatives, such as not, unless or none. You might find it helpful to rephrase stems with two negatives to positive terms
• Watch out for distractors — bits of information that might distract you from the real purpose of the question. As you read the stem, cross out the distractors and underline the key points in your mind ( because you can't write on the question paper) to help you maintain focus.

Sample HRBP Exam Questions, Free HRBP Exam Question, Sample HRMP Exam question, Free HRMP Exam questions, Sample PHRi Exam Questions, Free PHRi Exam Questions, Sample SPHRi Exam Questions, Free SPHRi Exam Questions

A junior colleague wrote the PHRi exam and failed after saving and spending some months salary she was devastated. What she said after the exam was that the questions were easy but “somehow”. I have however decided to compile a list of tips that will guide and help anyone pass these certifications ( PHRi- HRBP, SPHRi-HRMP, GPHR). Please find below a list of tips as highlighted by HR gurus mostly those who have taken and passed one of these certifications.

* Tip 1- Sometimes all the options in these exams may appear correct but remember that you are looking for the best answer, not only a correct one. – Ibironke Ogunmade PHRi, SPHRi

*Tip 2- Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally – Gbenjo Olufisayo Assistant Human Resource and Admin Manager Vicmart( Procter and Gamble RD)

*Tip 3- In choosing your answers, you need to think of and select answers that meet global HR best practice and not what you do in your organization or country- Adetoun Adefala-ACIPM,PHRi™

* Tip 4- Early preparation is key. Another tip I would like to give is that you have to constantly remember it's an international certification and not base your answers on Nigeria hr practice. I made that mistake while answering some past questions. Thank God I got back on track before the exams in March. You have to open your mind and learn HR best practice beyond our shores. Olaseji Abudu ACIPM, PHRi

* Tip 5- You need to be disciplined when it comes to studying. If you don't schedule time to go through the exam content outline, there is no magic that will happen. - Mike Ogu ACIPM,HRPL, AITD,SPHRi

* Tip 6- More often than not, folks around here fail international exams not because they are dull, but because they, most of the time, use their experience, as against best practice, to answer the questions. Given that we have little adoption and compliance towards best practice, it is very easy even for the most experienced to fail those international certification exams - John Michaels
TIPS FROM www.hrcertificationng.com
 If two or more alternatives say the same thing, each is probably wrong (you can have two options that are wrong, but not two that are right).
 If you cannot answer a question within a minute or less, skip it and plan to come back later. The answer to one question is sometimes given away in another question (tests contain a lot of information - when you come back to the question you might have better understanding of it.
 Your knowledge and experience of the HR structure is very useful so do not limit yourself to the PHRi study material. Answer the questions based on your HR work experience provided you work in a structured HR environment where standard practice is embraced.
 It's true that some PHRIi – HRBP questions may be worded awkwardly, this will therefore require additional effort to decode the questions. However, very few of the questions are deliberately "tricky." The questions are designed to challenge you and encourage you to think, but not lead you to the wrong answer.
 If you can afford it attend PHRi – HRBP study centre. There are a lot of PHRi study centers in Nigeria but a few reputable ones
 Practice, practice, practice and more practice you need to practice answering "real" multiple choice questions. You will find practice questions on www.hrcertificationng.com
 Use practice exams that has explanation to ensure mastery of the important details, also www.hrcertificationng.com provides explanation at the end of each questions except for questions that are straight forward
 Leave time at the end of the exam to check your answers
 Keep in mind that these techniques will not work for all questions, and that they can be time-consuming. If some of these techniques seem helpful, make sure you familiarize yourself with them in a practice exam well before the PHRi exam.

Sometimes all the options in a PHRi –HRBP exam question may appear correct. This is one of the features that make the PHRi – HRBP questions difficult to answer.

HRBP Study Materials Nigeria- PHRi Study Materials Nigeria

The other day on LinkedIn I shared a posted about how a junior colleague who had saved some months salary to write the PHRi exam failed and was devastated, and how I was compiling tips to help upcoming HR professionals prepare for and pass the certification. Some HR gurus who have written and passed these certifications were kind enough to drop some tips and below is the compilation of tips to help HR professionals preparing for the following certifications (PHRi- HRBP, SPHRi-HRMP, GPHR).

*Sometimes all the options in these exams may appear correct but remember that you are looking for the best answer, not only a correct one. – Ibironke Ogunmade PHRi, SPHRi www.hrcertificationng.com

*Forget about what is obtainable locally, think globally – Gbenjo Olufisayo Assistant Human Resource and Admin Manager Vicmart( Procter and Gamble RD)

*In choosing your answers, you need to think of and select answers that meet global HR best practice and not what you do in your organization or country- Adetoun Adefala-ACIPM,PHRi™

*Early preparation is key. Another tip I would like to give is that you have to constantly remember it's an international certification and not base your answers on Nigeria hr practice. I made that mistake while answering some past questions. Thank God I got back on track before the exams in March. Then remember to take the test sent by HRCI to all candidates. Olaseji Abudu ACIPM, PHRi

*You need to be disciplined when it comes to studying. If you don't schedule time to go through the exam content outline, there is no magic that will happen. - Mike Ogu ACIPM,HRPL, AITD,SPHRi

*More often than not, folks around here fail international exams not because they are dull, but because they, most of the time, use their experience, as against best practice, to answer the questions. Given that we have little adoption and compliance towards best practice, it is very easy even for the most experienced to fail those international certification exams - John Michaels

*www.hrcertificationng.com If two or more alternatives say the same thing, each is probably wrong (you can have two options that are wrong, but not two that are right).

Most Nigerians do not go on holiday and they don't know that they are tempting the stress gods.

You need not travel out of the country. We have lovely places that you can visit within the country.

The advantages of taking a holiday outnumber they disadvantages, part of which is:
it helps you recharge your batteries and [makes you] more effective at work.
