More influential Nigerians are on the radar of the EFCC and in the coming weeks they will have their day in court and Nigerians will be be kept fully abreast of the results of the commission’s investigations,” Mr. Magu stated during a meeting with online and broadcast media practitioners and managers.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday in Abuja, was intended to elicit support from the media for the fight against corruption, fraud, and economic crimes. Mr. Magu requested that those assembled provide the EFCC with suggestions and advice to aid the commission in its war on graft.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court Abuja has withdrawn from the trial of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) leader and Radio Biafra Director Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice Mohammed directed that the case file be returned to the court’s Chief Judge for reassignment to another judge.

Nigerian Banks have got a directive to restrict the accounts of some suspects in the alleged N31billion Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) sluch funds.

Affected are some House of Representatives members, some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chiefs and some companies.

Also, some accused persons on trial in connection with the ongoing probe of the ONSA cannot access their accounts.

Ex-National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki and others yesterday perfected their bail conditions. They were awaiting their release last night.

A judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Peter Affen, banned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from re-arresting Dasuki, ex-Minister Bashir Yuguda, ex- ONSA Director of Finance, Shuaibu Salisu, Sagir Attahiru and ex-Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa.

All the banks, where the accounts of those affected are domiciled, have been asked to Post No Bill (PNB).

Those on the restricted list cannot access their accounts and all funds being remitted into them must be reported.

The ban will remain until the trial of most of the accused persons has been concluded.

It was learnt that the anti-graft agency does not want most of the accused persons and beneficiaries from ONSA funds to tamper with what is left in their accounts.

A source in the EFCC said: “The PNB is limited to accounts where the slush funds were deposited and other traceable accounts . In some instances, we obtained court orders to freeze a few accounts.

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has given a nod to the proposed oil subsidy removal, stating that government would save N700 billion yearly from the intervention.

Acting Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, at a Roundtable on Subsidy Removal Debate Organised by Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja yesterday, stated that the proposal to remove fuel subsidy was consistent with the recommendations contained in NEITI’s independent audit reports conducted in the last six years.

Orji said: “Removal of subsidy will free over N700 billion annually which can be channeled to provision of infrastructure like roads, education, health service, power, security, creation of jobs and basic benefits for the poor in the society.

A former Leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo has vowed to return to the creeks with his men if President Muhammadu Buhari continues to interfere in the Bayelsa state governorship election.

The abductors of Nollywood actor, Prince Eke, have reportedly asked for a ransom of N15 million naira.

Reports had it that the actor who was returning from a movie location in Asaba on Saturday, was kidnapped on the Owerri-Port Harcourt road.

The kidnappers have, however, reportedly made contact with the wife of the actor, Muma Gee, demanding a ransom of N15m, latest today, Thursday or they will bury the actor alive.

She was said to have pleaded with the kidnappers to free her husband with no conditions attached. It was also reported that she told them that her husband is just a Nollywood actor, and they don’t have the means to raise that amount of money within a short time.

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemukpolo a.k.a Tompolo, has gone into hiding in the creeks of Bayelsa State for fear of arrest after being summoned by the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC), a report said.

“There, he is being attended to by his coterie of militant boys, shielding him away from any eventual attack, which may possibly lead to his arrest,” reports Nigeria Standard.

It would be recalled that the EFCC had earlier this week given Tompolo one week to report at its head office annex on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, or risk being declared wanted.

A letter from EFCC said the commission is investigating Tompolo for unclear dealings involving the sale of parcels of land worth about 13 billion naira to the Federal Government under the last administration.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will on Monday arraign a set of accused persons, including a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who were charged with misappropriation of about N32bn meant for purchase of arms under the previous administration.

The accused persons are to be arraigned before Justice H.Y Baba of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

he accused are Dasuki, a former Director of Finance and Administration in the Office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu and Aminu Baba-Kusa.

Also charged along with them are three firms said to belong to Baba-Kusa, which are Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.

Operatives of the Department of State Services on Tuesday morning effected the arrest of a former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

Dasuki had been placed under house arrest in his Abuja home since November 4, 2015 by the DSS.

This was a day after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja granted him leave to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The court gave him three weeks for the trip.

He was expected to return November 26, 2015.

However, the DSS said Dasuki had been indicted in another investigation involving the purchase of arms during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan when he served as NSA.

Already, a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, has been arrested in connection with the arms purchase investigation.

Twenty other persons were also said to have been arrested over the issue.

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) yesterday revealed that about 3,500 male sex workers have been identified in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

France’s Interior Ministry has banned away fans from football games in the country, until mid-December following the Paris attacks earlier this month.

The verdict will affect the country’s top two divisions, as well as Champions League and Europa League games.

“The Interior Ministry has issued an order banning away fans for the 15th round of Ligue 1 matches, and the 16th round of matches of Ligue 2, this weekend,” the French League (LFP) said.

“Another order, with the same provisions, will be issued very soon regarding the 16th, 17th, 18th rounds of Ligue 1, the 17th and 18th rounds of Ligue 2, the eighth round of the French Cup, and the Europa League.

The Police in Lagos on Wednesday killed five suspected armed robbers and arrested one with bullets wounds.

Police sources told newsmen in Ikeja that the suspects had engaged policemen from Elemoro Division, Ajah in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area in a shootout where they were killed.

He said that five of them were killed on the spot and one injured by bullets was arrested.

“The police in Elemoro got information that the suspects were operating at Abule Parapo, opposite Awoyaya in Elemoro area of Ajah around 2 a.m.

“The suspects engaged the police in a shootout as soon as they saw them. Two locally made double barrel shot guns, one cutlass and iron cutter was recovered from them.

Legendary Nigerian singer Tuface Idibia has been honoured with the “Tafidan Kudendan” of Kudendan by the His Royal Highness Galadima of Kudendan Chiefdom. The title translates to “Ambassador of Peace” and he is being rewarded with this for his role in the Vote Not Fight Campaign.

The five people believed to be Igbo traders were said to have been shot dead at Madala Market in Niger State last week Thursday.

Sources reliably gathered that the yet to be identified gunmen were said to have stormed the Madala market and made straight to a shop believed to be that of some Igbo traders and ordered them to recite the Holy Quran of which they could not.

The gunmen who were not satisfied with the development opened fire on the five people at close range leaving them dead immediately.

An alarm which was raised by other traders close to the shop where the five people were killed attracted passers by who sent a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer Suleja where a detachment of armed police were drafted to the scene.

Final prayers were done as Audu goes home, Suratul Fatiha, the first chapter of the Quoran has been rendered. Sympathisers dispersing. People are departing from grave site but a lot of sympathisers are still weeping profusely.
