Yesterday, NASA’s Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) reported two asteroids flying by Earth in relatively close proximity, but thankfully, no disruption of life was really observed. Now, more observations made by NASA’s CNEOS states that over tomorrow, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, a total of four asteroids will approach Earth, and are projected to fly by at close proximity. While the farthest of the four will be 3.05 million kilometres away from Earth, the closest will approach Earth at a distance of 7,13,000 kilometres, which in space terms is not really too far away. The four asteroids in question have been named by CNEOS as 2020 FK, 2020 FS, 2020 DP4 and 2020 FF1. The 2020 FK asteroid is the smallest of the four, measuring just 43 feet in diameter. It is presently hurtling through space at a speed of over 37,000kmph, and will approach Earth from a distance of 1.36 million kilometres. The river shown in the photographs below is Caño Cristales, an amazingly colourful river in Colombia. With the photos here you will believe it’s the most beautiful river in the world. The river takes on many different colors, including yellow, green, blue, black, but especially red, caused by the weeds at the bottom of the river (Macarenia clavigera). The Nigerian Civil War started on the 6th of July 1967 and ended 15th January, 1970. During the war, the Nigerian army outnumbered their Biafran Counterparts 4 – 1. While Nigeria had the British government supplying them arms and ammunition and Egypt supplying them planes, Biafran had to produce their arms and ammunition and other necessary war machines locally because the federal government already closed the borders on Biafran and other neighboring countries were supporting Nigeria. Remember Operation Python dance 1 in the south-east, a lot happened and a lot were hidden. According to a twitter user who called out the International community to the atrocity of the Nigerian army on IPOB members agitating for self-determination. It was gathered that the Nigerian Army mobilised its soldiers on a program termed Operation Python Dance(Egwu-Eke). This feat remains one event that has left the south-east with an internal print in blood. Nigerian youths were paraded, tortured, killed. Armless citizens lost their lives during the avoidable programme. It was during this programme (Operation Python Dance 1) that the Nigerian army invaded Nnamdi Kanu’s parents’ home in Afara Ukwu, Umuahia Abia State. The annual literary event organized by the society 0f Young Nigeria Writers, (Anambra chapter) in honour of Nigeria’s Literary Legend and father of the African Literature will be held this Saturday, November 16th at the Prof. Kenneth Dike Central E-Library, Awka, the Capital City of Anambra State, The 2019 edition of the Chinua Achebe Literary Festival will attract Literary enthusiasts, writers of all class and intellectuals alike. The event is centered on the commemoration and celebration of his immense contributions and legacies in the literary field of life. The literary festival is an annual literary event organized by the Society of Young Nigerian Writers, (Anambra State Chapter) in honour The literary event which holds yearly on Achebe’s date of birth started in 2016, and has remained consistent for the past four years. It would be recalled that Late Achebe, until his death, was a die-hard chauvinistic countryman who, with his wealth of knowledge, contributed immensely in propelling the developmental wheel of his country Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. He was also an intellectual with integrity, as evidenced by his two-time rejection of the country’s second highest award for intellectual achievement and contribution to National Development — the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic — in 2004 and 2011 respectively because he perceived things were not going the way they should in the country, as under-development, corruption and impunity were the order of the day.
