Yes, and they are likely to ask for another bank statement before I go collect the physical RP card in Abuja.... I am also required to buy another insurance for aug 2019/2020.....it is another round of spending money and documentation. My school is talking about returning the student union fee, then I'll have to pay it again in Aug 2019.

Congrats bro... Please after the first supplementary documents were requested did Migri request for another one again?

After months-- since July 23rd 2018, I finally got a positive decision yesterday. School is already on second semester. I will have to resume in Autumn 2019.

What I have learned so far is:
1.Make sure you have 6720 euro that didn't just appear in your account, and if it did, make sure you can prove where it came from, and how the person who gave it to you got it.

2. They do not want Nigerians /Africans filling up their country; they will do anything and everything within their power to sabotage your residence permit application process/decision. Have that at the back of your mind, make sure you have the money or a genuine sponsor. And be ready to have that money untouched for more than 6 months.

3. Make sure that whatever you say or write down during the interview remains consistent during subsequent requests for supplementary documents.

4. If you want to go to Finland, have a plan B--Finland did lose its appeal to me-- shebi na book i dey go read? Abi no be manage-manage I go dey do for there? In my mind I already forgot about Suomi -- I already fantacized about the car I could use my school fees to buy. I could totally be balling in Naija.

5. What I am trying to say is: Make efforts to read about things, crawl this whole thread and the Internet about the best practices about RP application process.

6.Apply early, if possible, spend a whole year getting your money and your documents right.

To all who are still waiting to hear the goodnews, and like the enterfinland 3week email would say, "please wait patiently".

Don't give your school your Account number yet. Contact migri about your school wanting to return tuition. Your immigration officer should have something to say about that. My school has not talked about returning my tuition yet.... Las las I Go use all my money buy motor and probably go to Germany this September if migri no talk anything by February.

Pls friends advice me my school want to refund my paid tuition fee back because i have delayed so long to resume and I pleaded but they refused and ask for my account and bank details stating that that i can no longer resume this year but i can still reapply to resume with next August section.
Pls can this affect my still on going waiting RP?
And what can I do?

@Hafeez89
Thank u for your post. Firstly, God Almighty will grant us all study permit and renewal of study permit(we still dey hustle that one too) . Amen. If it comes out as though am bragging, please I don't mean it to be that at all (all my friends can attest to that). At the very end, God is the only one that grant favours it's not by our own making or perfection.
Why I may not sound too friendly to Kofoironic was because of 2 reasons.

Firstly, he was telling someone(tysamuel) off for asking question(u can check my comment where I quoted him). He tasted his own medicine and he doesn't like it.

Secondly, we all know it's not easy securing visa/RP but even in the midst of our perceived "propaganda", how do we do our own best(mentally and financially, its draining). My pointing about my case was not to brag(not one bit) but to let Kofoironic know that the issue might be with his application(kindly note that the outcome can and hopefully will still come out positive despite the delay. We all would love to get decision quick so that we can move on to other phase of our life). Another Nigerian came in here too and went he to interview the same period. But most of us (me included) like to blame negative outcome on propaganda/something/someone while taking the positive outcome as a result of our handiwork. Why not see if there is anything you can/should have done differently (that was just my suggestion in that post). I have failed in some of my endeavours but I was brought up in such a way not to look for excuses but solutions. And if I think I've done my absolute best and it's not working out, then I move on. I pointed out a few things I "think" (I don't know for certain) will help our future application but so many people choose to see another thing. When I was preparing my application, I disturbed two persons on this group (I have never claimed to know it all) and through their guidance God granted me RP).

I said what I said: "most people" -- I have done my research. Your sanctimoniousness no be here. You talk like anyone would waste the time, money, and efforts just so they'd get denied or get kept waiting for more than 6 months (whether positive decision or not, is 6 months the legal time to keep people waiting for a RP for studies decision?)...

Please go and sleep. Enjoy your 1 year RP, there is still another application you have to make to renew next year, and the probability that you may have to wait may be high.

It is ridiculous that you think we did not move mountains here to apply for the RP, and it is also pitiable that you think the Finnish people are very sincere-- until you don't get that Job you qualify for because you're not Finnish. Boy, BYE.

Yanganbiwa:

My brother you are entitled to your own opinion(U might be right and u might be wrong) but it's always good to investigate before making any rash conclusion.
Most time we are very quick to shift the blames on other people instead of accepting our mistake and looking for a way to better the situation. We all are not perfect even the white men (which even professors here will openly accept to not been sure in so many classes I've attended here).

You said most people(abi u?) applied since June and haven't gotten response up till now. Why not ask yourself, was there anything I did wrong? Is there a way I could make it right? Did anyone apply during this period and have gotten a positive response from migri? What has such person done differently from mine?

PS: B4 throwing punches at me, I applied in June and within 3 "working days" I got my decision.

Please, if you package your application well and nothing looks shady and you provided all u need to provide, Finnish are very sincere. They will response to you in record time.

Sorry for the long post. Just my candid opinion (which you are free not to agree to.

Copy and paste the decision on Google Translate. You should see know the reason why.
NeeYoh:
Hello everyone,

Hope we are all doing well. So I received a negative decision regarding my Residence Permit application for studies from Migri on Wednesday 28th, November 2018 (that's 2 months after submitting the requested supplementary documents). The reason given was that they feel I would evade their rules in the country while also stating that my financial documents weren't credible enough. Most of the text in the decision doc were in Finnish (especially the explanations) as only the decision and the reason for denial were in English. Also, there's a new rule/act that applies to applicants from Third World countries stated in the document.

Attached with the Residence Permit decision is an Appeal doc for instructions.

I've been in contact with my Finnish university the whole time of the delay in which they also moved my admission along with my scholarship offer to next year 2019.

I wish those of you still expecting a decision a positive outcome.

Were you self sponsored or you have a sponsor?
If you have a sponsor, did you submit clear documentation of where your sponsor's money came from?

It is always about the money. So Sorry NeeYoh

Hello everyone.

For those of us still waiting for a decision, have you all sent Migri emails lately/today?

If you look at your supplementary request letters, there is usually an immigration person who sends it on behalf of the team. You should also Cc the person in the email.

Ask them for how long you should wait. Don't forget to include your customer number too.

You dey hear word ni? If you like no help yourself by reading up... I am telling you that applications since June have not gotten decisions due to some propaganda going on in Migri. They make us from 3rd world countries wait for months (5 months or more, ask Phrantad, he waited for almost a year) while those from 'good' countries get a decision in 3 weeks.

You dey here dey ask people about schools like say Google no dey, like say the reason why this thread long reach 290 na because we dey talk about egusi soup. Abi na only you waka come ni? All the answers you Seek are on this thread. Read, Oga.

All of you asking for advice about schools in Finland here, don't you think Google is your best bet? Google your course and be country specific... It always pops up.... Read from page zero of this thread. Most of your questions have been answered. A lot of us here are awaiting decisions since July of this year. Read to know what's up.

Good day,
I salute your concern and patriotism after reading through your post here on this topic. Please, i will like to ask for your advice and opinion on this sir: I am a graduate of Linguistics (Major) in Nigeria; CGPA of 3.44. And presently, I am willing to process a Masters' Degree in Helsinki, Finland. Which Universities offer courses on Humanities or International Relations there? I am hoping to start my degree there next year 2019. ALSO, are there any scholarship programmes please? Thank you so much.

Migri is on twitter.

Travel / Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by kofoironic: 6:16pm On Nov 07, 2018
I second your idea. We can also tweet at their Ambassador to Nigeria on twitter, @migri and tweet at our foreign affairs. We could use anonymous accounts tho.
Hafeez89:

My good people in the house, please I want us to have a crictical look at the delay in issuing us the RP by migri this year. Even though it is beyond our jurisdiction as all the authority to grant/deny is vested in their authority. We have people that is now over 4months they did their interview and yet no decision. We the applicant is at the receiving end. I want to suggest we take proactive measure in making our voices heard,I'm thinking Nigerian ministry of foreign affairs can help us contact either migri/embassy on our behalf,or any other suggested agency that can contact them on our behalf.
Lastly,I discussed this delay with one Bangladesh applicant and he told me maybe Finland don't want to welcome 3rd world countries citizens in thier country anymore that is why they are complicating the decision process, cuz all other nationality have been attended to by the same migri and they have started thier studies in Finland. I am writing this piece to awaken us and have a roundtable discussion to reach a consensus on what we can do on our own path because we can't just keep folding our arms and watch as time fly away.
Even if they want to serve us a negative decision,it is better they do so on time so that we can start planning for a fresh application or apply to another country as some of us are having such thought.

I await your kind contribution. May God see us through.

I got a request for supplement from migri today. I was asked to show Origin of funds. Another thing that was attached was an MP_1 form. I don't know why I got an MP_1 form since I am not applying for my RP from/in Finland. I have attached a screenshot of the form. Anyone here who has ever gotten such a form?

Just did, thank you.

Write to them to request for the 'New estimate of the processing time' for your residence permit application.
According to their website, you have this right as quoted below.
Use the heading "New Estimate of The Processing Time"
Don't forget to add your application number and other details.
You may not be able to reach them on phone as I have tried severally.

"If you have applied for a residence permit, EU registration of Finnish citizenship, you may write to us at migri@migri.fi and ask for a new processing time estimate. Add your customer number to your e-mail. When you send a message to this address, you will receive a reply that states that the agency does not answer e-mail inquiries. Despite this, we will send you a new estimate of the remaining processing time. Unfortunately, you cannot get any other advice from the address migri@migri.fi."

I applied on 19th July, yet nothing. They requested for supplementary documents on the 22nd and I sent it the next day. I emailed them last week and the said my application has been transferred for finalisation only to ask when it was transferred for finalisation and they said 28th August. Since 28th August they are yet to finalise. I wonder what they are finalising.
