Religion / Re: COVID-19: Yinka Akinbami Is Dead. House On The Rock Pastor Dies by LagosEconomist: 10:32am On Jan 10, 2021 |
ikorodureporta: First of all. Condolences to the departed Minister. I pray for strength and God's grace for His wife and family at this time. He, like all of mankind, will stand before the judgement seat of Christ. The Lord guaranteed, and His word shall not return void, that He gave up His life for those who accept God's gift of redemption, and while the new life leads us to strive to live righteously, it is Christ's ultimate sacrifice, indisputably prophesied severally centuries before the act, that will redeem mankind. You can choose to keep vomiting rubbish about illuminati, or even the lower level deception about God fraudulently switching bodies on the cross. Your words, thoughts and beliefs can only be true, if they align with the truth. The Church does not have a lot of traditions. You can listen to the entire new testament in a couple of hours https://www.biblegateway.com/. The communion is a tradition proclaiming the Lord's death. It certainly makes the enemies of God uncomfortable, but God created and loves every human being. Step away from ignorance and high sounding gibberish & embrace the simple truth of God's love. 1st Corinthians 11:23 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 1 Like |

Bloghomies: Calls to prayer happen and wake tens of millions up all over Nigeria from 4:30am or 5am every day, even though they are not ready to wake up. No one ever complains for the sake of tolerance. There should be freedom of religion and assembly, but it should be defined and structured. Anything over megaphones before 7am is just disturbing other people. |

spiralwedge: Read again, and slowly this time. Hopefully you have the capacity to to comprehend. The US authorities allege that Buruji was the drug kingpin. Buruji alleges that it was Adewale. He did not deny there was a Kasamu druglord. Your tantrums cannot mask the reality of your heart, for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (or fingers type, in this case). I suggest you look deeply inwards and make peace with your creator, & quickly too. 1 Like |

Greenvaiper: He was alleged to be a major drug kingpin, and his best defence was that it was a brother (that nobody seems to know) that looks just like him. He tried using the old Evan vs Evans Enwerem playbook. There is even a major US TV show inspired by the drug baron (I don't know if this was Buruji or Adewale Kashamu) Well, he has run his race & will give account, as will those who knowingly defend evil and corruption, and those who attack people speaking up against the evil and corruption, and all of us eventually. God is not mocked, you cannot willingly and continually sin & hope for grace to abound. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/apr/16/alleged-drug-kingpin-wanted-us-elected-senator-nigeria 2 Likes |

Kog45: The African teams to the 82 World Cup (Cameroon and Algeria) were both among the top 10 or 12 in the world at the time without a doubt. Not a big fan of Onigbinde, but it was a massive effort to build a new team that was good enough to win the AFCON against these 2 teams. We held Algeria at the group stage. Egypt actually beat Cameroon in the group stage, & we managed to knock them out on penalties. If Rufai did not get injured in the Semis, we would have probably won the AFCON. Patrick Okala was a huge step down. 2 Likes |

TheManhattan: Subtle threat. He is saying, 'If I go down, I'll spill mud on everyone' without saying it. Shameful, but not too much shocks one about Nigeria anymore. Dele Momodu should also be ashamed of himself for this silly attempt at image laundering. Was he trying to ask serious questions here? He should have just done a cover & centre-spread feature of Obasa in his soceity magazine instead. 1 Like |
Pets / Re: My Rott's Naughty Behavior: I Need Advice Please by LagosEconomist: 2:04pm On Apr 25, 2020 |
Rottis are dominant but loving and protective dogs. Trying to establish territory and dominance at that age is not unusual, but it must still have a master it respects. You're the one that feeds it everyday & that provision is a symbol of authority right there. I sense that it may be stressed and not getting enough exercise. Get a leash and take it on a walk at least 3 times a week. The 2nd link I posted suggested not competing for dominance. I disagree. Don't shout the dog down when it is agitated; calm it down instead (perfect time for a doggy treat), but the Rotti must understand who is boss, and that is you. Oblang: Remove the subsidy regime, Remove the dual exchange rate system and you plugs a hole that leaks at least $10 billion that disappears each year. A fair and incorrupt system will regulate itself and local prices will balance out & more importantly, there will be investment in the sector for local refining (beyond Dangote) This was mostly Sanusi basis for declaring $25 billion (or whatever) missing under Jonathan. Unremitted revenue to the Federation account due to sudsidy and other deductions by NNPC. It continues today, but no one says anything. Any government that has even the tiniest interest in reducing corruption will introduce these policies. Link access to forex to verifiable payment of taxes by Corporations and individuals in the previous year, & not allow connected people make billions of dollars a year from arbitrage from multiple exchange rates in the name of subsidizing religious pilgrimages & school fees for the children of millionaires. These things are not difficult but the leadership & Governance structure in Nigeria is showing an incurable addiction to corruption even as the ship is sinking. 2 Likes 1 Share |

It is not their business to set prices. These crooks are addicted to stealing, that is why the subsidy mechanism is in place. Petrol is a commodity. The market should determine the price. 4 Likes |

The thieves in Government are trying to make a comeback since all the money they are stealing from oil, forex & (police equipment) procurement is not enough. By their own shoddy numbers, most of the loss occurs in the transmission. Let the FG hand over the transmission to Siemens if they want. The focus should shift to localised generation and distribution. Stop this madness of dragging most of the country down to 'equalise' everything. 4 Likes |

Anyone can say anything to his or her followers or congregation, but if your question was genuine, then here is your answer. 1st Corinthians 5 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to [f]keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. |

Baztardmods: Depends on the cargo, shipping method, length/time of shipment etc. Rate on a car (very low to inconsequential) won't be the same as fragile or perishables for instance. Air freight insurance may also be lower than ocean shipping insurance due to the shorter time (note that the cost of Air Freight is a lot more). Insurance should be covered as part of shipping costs anyway. If additional insurance is needed/demanded by a counterparty, I suggest you contact an underwriter or someone in the insurance industry who will tell you what is normal for the class of goods. In general 1.5% to 5% of the value can be planned for. |

Onigbinde is only in the ministry for a few months to help the Minister set up standards and procedures. His appointment was more at the instance of governments donor partners & not the government itself. He should have insisted on the title of 'Consultant'. When his work is done in a few months, the BMO crew will be claiming a false victory that they forced him out. 6 Likes 1 Share |

darkelf: Not so fast with the downer prophecies. This team is a top 10 top 15 team as at today. The occasion got to some of the young guys (Ike Ireogbu & Jordan especially) against Russia & our tournament was over before it started. They played without fear vs Argentina & grew as the tournament progressed. They will be much better next year. What can however push this team to a medal is that 3-5 top range key additions are possible. Jahlil Okafor is one of the most skilled offensive players out there & is primed to have a good NBA season. If we can get him, he will solve all the paint scoring issues from set plays (not just fast breaks) & adds an extra 10 points per game to the team while averaging around 20 points. Udoka Azubuike can be the best big man in college if healthy. A legit 7 footer and a defensive force. With him, the likes of Scola will be silent against Nigeria. Charles Bassey is another upcoming big man. He & Udoka should be 1st round NBA picks next year. Ayo Dosunmu could also be a 1st round pick next year. He could have gone pro this year after 1 college season, but decided to stay in school. OG Anunoby will be huge if we can get him. Adds to the wing play, athleticism & the 3 ball defence. The team can get better & will be a lot more experienced. Depending on who commits, a run at a medal is possible. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

MACBAN cannot announce the closure of markets. They can ask their members not to come to the market for whatever reason they choose, but other cattle and animal sellers should go to the market. I believe markets are regulated by the local or state governments. |

truthsayer009: That's the right attitude to have. Don't devalue yourself. Everyone in life has options. I can also tell that you were a junior level staff, with no clue about the big picture. Jason himself was probably young and naive in the early days you were talking about. It is good to motivate staff, but it must be in the context of contributing to the sustenance & growth of the company. You must be fair, but you cannot be Father Christmas, who just wants to be cool & popular with staff, regardless of their productivity or the success of the business, especially with other people's money. When reality sets in, you might lose everything, including your health, & the staff will move on to the next thing, maybe even set up their own business. The early freebies & blackberry days was when Kinnevik money first came it, & it seemed like it was too much money & it would never finish. Iroko has done well, within the constraints of the environment. They are producing a lot of content, & getting the channels on Cable was a brilliant idea. Now is the time to become self sustaining or even profitable though. The investors will also start asking tough questions before agreeing to another round of funding. So, you can see how inconsequential some staff who feels entitled to get a big salary without contributing to revenue really is. The civil service is the place for people like that. For Iroko, they probably need to come to some kind of alliance with Netflix for the production of African content. It will give them a bigger platform, & it will be a cheap way for Netflix to quickly acquire a lot of African titles and further diversify its content. They can even work on joint productions together. This indirect competition they are in, will only hurt Iroko in the medium & long run. 5 Likes |

The Falcons have a pretty good chance of going through. The winner of the Scotland vs Argentina game has the next best chance. Then the winner of Cameroon vs New Zealand. A draw in either or both of the games should see the Falcons scale through https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2019-womens-world-cup-predictions/ |
