Hello lovelies. I need your opinions here. As a student that entered into the UK and still has 8 months to the end of the program and has a tier 2 Sponsorship offer (at a cost though).
Is it advisable to convert now or convert towards the end of the program? If now, what is the best and safest way to go about it for smooth transitioning from student to sponsored worker. Thanks

Thanks for the information
RalphJean:

1. You are currently a dependant of a tier-4 visa holder, yes?

2. The main holder ( your spouse) is currently a student, who hopes to complete 1 year masters, followed by 2 year PSW visa yes?

If 1& 2 above holds true, it will make sense for you to move to Work visa (if & when you get a sponsor) ASAP. That way, your ILR years (5-year ‘short’ route begins to count.

The ‘3-year journey’ DOES count for ILR on the ‘LONG RESIDENCE’ aka 10-year route.
Hope this helps.

Hello great minds. I will like to know the possibility and ways to convert dependent visa to work visa before the expiration of the primary applicants first year. For ILR sake, it is better to move to work visa on time instead of waiting for 2 years post study visa (I read somewhere that the 3years journey doesn’t count for ILR) and later look for sponsorship which means another 5years journey. I need information on how best to make a smooth transition. @lagosismyhome @justwise and other great minds let me tap into your ocean of knowledge on this

This is not true. I know of someone with 3 US, 2 Canadian and 1 Norway refusals that did not declare any. He did not get a not straight forward mail and he got his visa already, he did standard application. It is best advised to make your denial declarations but it is not used to make decisions. Decisions are delayed as a result of barrage of applications as this is the peak period of all applications. CAS are also being delayed at some universities because of the above reason. All will end with testimonies.
Pascalsmith:

That’s why you got the non straightforward email….: please I hope you declared it on your application?

You really do not need to show a proof that you earned the money, it is better you have your aunt transfer the funds to you and can be used to make your applications(schl/embassy). Other gurus can elaborate

Congratulations brother. I love the way you ended your message. We should all learn to help people and be good ambassadors
Babababy:
Some update from my end .
Family of Five.

Application date : 22/07/21
Biometrics VI : 23/07/21

Main Applicant : Super Priority
Spouse Dependant : Priority
Children Dependants : Standard

Collection .

Main : 28/07/21(weekend between)- 2 workings days
Spouse(Me) : 30/07/21 -5 working days
Children Nigerian Passport : 09/08/21 -11 working days
US passport : 10/08/21 - 12 working days

Submitted all applications on the 22nd of July, we couldn’t get any date for biometrics close by, but the moment we picked Super Priority for Main and booked for following day, we were able to get close dates for the rest. We all did walk in with main applicants appointment date for biometrics on 23rd July.We didn’t have any stress because the main had an appointment and they allowed us in with her, got in 08:30 we all finished 09:45. 1hr 15mins.

Basically got all our info from the web and Nairaland, I joined Nairaland 2013 when I was looking for info to have our daughter in the US, and got all the info we needed back then too from Nairaland. The information here is priceless mainly because its first hand from people that have gone through or going through same process.

Key points for me, you really don’t need an agent for this process as long as you have internet connection. Whatever info you also get from here, you would do yourself some good if you also search online for better understanding, I am not the student but I literally know the A-Z of obtaining a student visa, because I wanted to know.

Alot of people are mentally lazy, if you use the basic google search and type “how much is Uk student visa in Nigeria” , you would get thousands of hits and if you go through, it would even direct you to Nairaland post about same topic. We have 800+ pages mainly because of repeated questions and lazy questions.

Wifey is the main applicant(Northumbria), she had study gap of 18 years, we didn’t get any not straight forward email and she wasn’t interviewed. She has loads of job experience to cover the gap though . We also have a healthy travel history, combined travel history was 38 US/UK/EU/Dubai, and valid Uk and US.

I am a Pilot, hence I have some basic travel knowledge and all, also why I gave some input in regards best generic days to find cheap tickets to travel. I would have to do some conversion exams if I want to fly in the UK, and that would take a while. So I am still pondering on my best options as per work for me.

We have some very intelligent people here and surely would keep the follow of the page alive on my part. The main beauty is how individuals are willing to help regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender and age, especially those who already got visa’s and are still here helping out,God bless all your hearts.Hopefully we can transcend this vibe into this entity called Nigeria.

Let me add, it’s ok not to know some basic issues because as individuals we learn and grow everyday. So when in doubt, please ask. Whats not ok is giving out advise you are not sure about. It’s better to remain quiet and observe than to mislead, there exist consequences on the part of the person you are giving that misinformation. No one human is an island of knowlegde, and as long as you are willing to learn you would keep adding to your life. Wish everyone the best in your quest to better yourself and your families.I am Open to any questions about our process.

And don’t forget to give a good representation of yourself when out there in the UK, we owe those coming behind a chance to also use the process. In lay man’s word, “DONT Bleep IT UP FOR THE NEXT SET OF APPLICANTS”

I just received a conditional offer for MSc program with my HND from University of South Wales. I want to proceed with this now, although I intended to apply to other schools as well before this offer. The tuition fee is £12000 and the required deposit is £6000. Thanks Hosey for the info. I'd like to know if there's anyone going to the school here as well this September.

It is better you travel a day before your test. You can get cheap hotels from 7k upwards around Ikeja

Please can I get to this address (Ground and First Floors, Etiebets Place, 21 Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos) if I'm coming from Warri before 11a.m in the morning? My appointment is at 12p.m.

I'm wondering if I should go a day before but I don't know where to stay, or if maybe there are cheap hotels around there I can lodge

The admin that moved this 2019 post to FP must be a HND holder looking for escape route or he is high on expired metacafe..

Pls try USA schools, evaluate your Credentials through world educational services to make you HND equivalent to BS degree (4yrs). Then apply to schools of your choice by sending your credentials directly to the schools from WES.

Cheers on you journey to Japa.
