A report just came in, that the President of private ‘Hajj’ and ‘Umrah’ operators of Nigeria is dead.

According to some online reports, The President of Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria,Alhaji Salihu Abdullahi Butu passes away today, Friday morning.

He actually died at Garki Hospital on the 13th of Rabi’ul Awwal, 1442 which is equivalent to the 30th October, 2020.

The preparation for the burial of the man will reportedly be announced later.

We pray that may his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.

For those who doesn’t know what ‘Hajj’ actually means, the Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. Hajj is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.

It may interest you to know that Professor Wole Soyinka has been legally married three times. His first marriage was in the year 1958. He married a woman she met at the University of Leeds in the 1950s, Babara Dixon. This woman gave birth to his first child, Olaokun Soyinka. But, few years after their marriage Wole Soyinka divorced her.

Subsequently in 1963, he fell in love with another woman who is a Nigerian Librarian, Olaide Idowu. Their marriage lasted for years and it was graced with four children including Moremi, Iyetade (now late), Peyibomi and Ilemakin. For the first time, he had his marriage in Nigeria and it was graced by many dignitaries like Late Bola Ige and his wife, Mrs. Atinuke Ige. Unfortunately, the marriage was dissolved in 1985 again. This was when Prof. Wole Soyinka came to Osun-State, precisely Ile-Ife to work at then University of Ife.

As a lecturer at the University, he developed feelings for a student called Folake Doherty. Well, he had to wait for her to finish her studies before he could approach her. So, he nurtured his feelings for her and waited till she graduated from the University and even finished her NYSC Program. After she finished service, he proposed marriage to her and she accepted.
