Japanese multinational automaker, Toyota has announced Tuesday, 23rd April that it will be recalling about 43,000 units of the 2015-2017 Toyota Yaris from owners. This recalling will be for just the Toyota Yaris hatchback as the Toyota Yaris sedan won't be affected. The Toyota Yaris has become a very popular hatchback over the years,

This measure comes as a result of faulty wiring in the car’s airbag deployment system. The front door of each car carries a side airbag sensor and wiring harness that connects to the control unit. Toyota discovered that this wiring harness is prone to corrosion possibly leading to false triggering of the airbag warning light, or a possible failure of the airbag to deploy on impact.



A perfectly functioning car airbag system is one of the safety features that a good car should possess, and one customers routinely expect. When issues like these are not quickly fixed, they could lead to injuries or lawsuits, resulting in loss in sales for that car brand.

Toyota did not specify whether there have been recorded injuries as a result of accidents involving the 2015-2017 Toyota Yaris hatchback. The car maker also do not specify if the affected cars are part of a specific series of build dates or VINs for easy tracking or location.

According to Toyota, when the recalled vehicles are collected, Toyota technicians will swap out the old wiring harnesses which are potentially fault and replace them with functional harnesses, which should fix the problem immediately.



Toyota also disclosed that affected owners of the Toyota Yaris should be expecting to receive a recall notification in the mail by mid-June.

This is not the first time that vehicles have been recalled by automakers. Whatever the size or capacity of car, there are chances that it could develop some fault or that its automaker might have missed something during its production. Germany’s auto market is currently shifting towards electrification and Audi seems to be moving with the tide as it plans for an R8 successor to be an electric supercar.

Even though there is currently no official report to back this up but sources claim that this expected successor would be called the “E-Tron GTR” and it will be a completely electric car with no presence of an internal combustion engine whatsoever.



This E-Tron GTR car is expected to be based off the same platform developed for the Porsche Taycan supercar which is a sporty vehicle on its own already.

Even though this report does not necessarily signify the ultimate end of the Audi R8 model as far as we know but it sure shows the direction that Audi is heading to when it comes to the electrification of its future sport car models.

The Federal Government of Nigeria recently procured a total of 77 vehicles for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The vehicles meant for the operations of the corps were supplied by indigenous Nigerian automaker Innoson Motors. The supply consisted of three ambulances and seventy four Innoson IV4M 4X2 Double Cabin Pickups.

Representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the commissioning of the delivered vehicles in Abuja, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in his speech stated that the procurement of the vehicles was geared toward fostering safety on Nigerian roads and boosting economic growth in the nation. He further informed Nigerians of the federal government’s commitment to making provision of necessary logistics, financial and legal supports to the institution.

Founded in 1988, the FRSC is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safety on roads across the nation. The institution operates in all the thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Posting the video on their YouTube channel, the auto racing company shared the one-of-a-kind painting, stating that the reason the job took so long was to make it stand out. Looking at the final result you can't help but agree that the time was well invested! The paint job was done by McLaren Special Operations, one of the auto firm’s internal divisions good at making specialized and customized car models for their customers, literally making their dreams come true.


The 720S Spyder which took 260 hours to paint is coated in vibrant deep blue. To get this beautiful color, the paint was created by mixing three colors, which are Cerulean Blue, Burton Blue, and Abyss Black, finally forming this new hue which McLaren called ‘Coriolis’.

McLaren special operations teams who worked together to create this work of art includes expert painters and artists. They created a painting style, which is reminiscent of a "fade effect" that imitates the movement of the car. This McLaren 720S Spyder does not just have stunning paint, it also has a powerful engine. Just recently at the 2019 International Auto Show in New York, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its 2nd generation GLS SUV. This new 3-row GLS SUV is designed to seriously compete with the new BMW X7 and it is sure, not wider or longer than the car it actually replaces. This 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV comes in 2 versions. Recently, the National Credit Tribunal has given an order to Volkswagen Financial services SA to pay all affected customers illegal fee, which over the past 12 years have been levied against them. These mentioned OTR fees which is known as “on the road charges” as well as administrative levy and fee from the handling were all included to make up the financial cost of these cars. This according to the terms of the National Credit Act, were not allowed.



This new ruling in SA will cover all the credited agreements entered by the Financial Services since June 2007. According to a statement from Lebogang Selibi, who is the spokesperson for National Credit Regulator (NCR), he told Business Insider SA that Volkswagen car owners who purchased through banks and several other financial institutions would not be affected by this new development.

The estimates of these fees would reach up to four thousand rand per vehicle. This amount was part of the vehicle finance agreement and accumulated interest for the past years.

The NCR ordered the financial services from two German automakers, BMW and Volkswagen to repay these fees in 2007. Volkswagen however appealed by taking the case to the higher court, which was the National Credit Tribunal. This court subsequently Tuesday was found against it and ordered the financial services from Volkswagen to stop charging the fee. This occurred last Wednesday

The company was however ordered to repay all the levied fees and accrued interest on them to their customers. After which a report must be submitted by the independent auditors to the NCR.

1. Gear lever not in park position
In times of hurry, we forget to do certain things we ought to do. Car manufacturers have programmed cars in such a way that, unless your gear lever is in park position, you won’t be able to remove your car key. You can try to remove it all day, but nothing is going to change.

A sum of 100 billion naira has been approved by the Federal Government for the finalization of the East-West Road. The road which the amount of money was allocated for is the Sections 1 to 4 of the East-West Road project.

This information was disclosed by the Nigeria’s Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani at a meeting with the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), which was led by its National Chairman, Chief Style Benjamin Tamaraebi, on Tuesday 9th April, in Abuja.

The Minister said that the federal government is close to awarding the contract with a new design as the previous East-West Road was constructed without design. And that it also had no due process and financial plan then.



Pastor Usani added that China Export-Import Bank had also pledged their support for the road project. He said that China Export-Import Bank gave out the sum of $500 million for the construction of Section 5 of the road from Oron to Calabar. While the Federal government provided counterpart funding. The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs had also consented to the Presidency that the N100 billion should be paid directly to the contractors from the Federation account to enable efficiency. The East-West road is one of Nigeria's busiest roads like the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

According to him, the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) is expected to monitor the completion of Sections 1 to 4 of the East-West road.

In 2018, a Presidential Inter-Ministerial team was on assessment tour to the Sections 1 to 4 of the East-West road from Warri, Delta State to Oron, Akwa Ibom State. During that tour, they pointed out that contractors would need about N100 billion to complete the four sections of the flagship project in the Niger Delta region. Pastor Usani, during the meeting told HOSTCOM Representatives that this project submission from the Presidential Inter-Ministerial team committee that went on a tour of the road aided in approval of the N100 billion by the federal government.



The Minister also disclosed that the federal government had also directed that the Gas Flare Penalty Fine being requested by the host communities, will be released to them.

It was known that this Gas Flare Penalty Fine was the fine that has been constantly appealed for by the HOSTCOM, (which is the parent body of all oil and gas producing, impacted, and satellite communities in the Niger Delta region) to the federal government to be released since 2009 after its approval. The lingering gas flare penalty fund was approved by late President Musa Yar’Adua in 2009.
