Politics / West Ham Or Aston Villa? David Cameron Forgets Who He Supports by nairabetguru(m): 9:38am On Apr 26, 2015
David Cameron has suffered an embarassing
mix-up during his election campaigning after
forgetting which football team he supports.
Prime Minister Cameron has long maintained he
is an Aston Villa supporter, even tweeting his
support of the Premier League outfit on
occasion.
But during a speech as part of his bid to
secure another term at the helm of British
politics, the Conservative leader claimed he
wished everyone would be a West Ham
supporter before insisting he had suffered a
"brain fade".
In arguing that people in England could
support a number of teams or countries, he
said: "Of course I'd rather you supported
West Ham."
He then tried to cover his tracks, saying: "I
had what [Green leader] Natalie Bennett
described as a brain fade.
“I’m a Villa fan ... I must have been overcome
by something ... this morning.
“But there we are, these things sometimes
happen when you are on the stump."
With just two weeks until polling day, it
remains to be seen if Cameron will throw his
support behind Burnley or Scunthorpe United
before May 7.

Romance / Stop Your Man From Withdrawing by nairabetguru(m): 10:25am On Apr 23, 2015
IT is very easy for a guy to start getting distant somewhere along the line in your relationship. If you are suffering in your relationship because your man is pulling away and becoming distant, I know how painful it feels because I have actually been there myself! It could be that he has stopped making plans in advance, or he is telling you he is confused, or he has stopped initiating affection and now he is telling you how busy and stressed out he is with work.

It is very easy for us women to feel a shift in his energy and it instinctively makes us feel worried, anxious and insecure, no matter how much we want to appear cool and confident. It feels so frustrating and devastating when the love we once felt from him feels like it is just drifting away and then we start asking ourselves, “How could this be happening?” How can you get things back to the way they felt in the beginning, when you knew he was so into you? He was doing and saying all the right things, everything to make you feel so happy. We believe if we can just talk to him and let him know how we feel and specifically how we feel about him, he would instinctively want to “fix” things to make us feel better and be compelled to come closer. Wrong. I have learnt that this is exactly what does not work to inspire a man to want to get close again.

In fact, it has the opposite effect on him! It makes him feel pressure and the ONLY thing he wants to do is run as far away as possible – as fast as possible! What we instinctively want to do actually pushes our man further away. When you learn how men and relationships really work you will get all the time, love, attention, affection, fun, passion and romance you have been longing for. You will get amazing results with your man.

If you do not learn how men and relationships really work and you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep finding yourself in the same painful situations over and over again, wondering what went wrong, analyzing everything your man does and spending your precious time trying to figure out what he is thinking and how to bring him back. If you want to get everything you want from your relationship, Imagine Your Man is Right In Front Of You.

What do you want to do? If you are anything like me, you want to reach out and touch him and talk to him – move closer. Stop Yourself From Moving Towards Him In Any Way. Imagine making eye contact and smiling softly at him. Let him move towards you first and close the “gap”. This looks like him physically moving towards you, calling you, texting you, making plans, and initiating affection. When we allow there to be space between us, if he is the man for you, he will instinctively and automatically come close. He will sense you are a woman who values herself enough to not chase any man and simply requires a man to pursue her (without saying a word) – it creates a magnetic pull on him he cannot resist!

Use Specific Words And Phrases To Compel Him To Come Even Closer. When he starts coming close again, you can “give back” by letting him know it feels good to hear from him, or you feel happy to see him, or his soft kisses make you feel soft and warm and he will feel a connection he has never felt with another woman.

All it takes is practice talking in this new love language. (When we stop moving towards our man, we begin to worry he will think we are not interested, we do not care or we do not love him – we can eliminate these fears by being soft, warm and inviting when he comes close.)

To bring him closer today, just try and relax. Relaxing gets you into the present moment where your man can connect with you. (A man cannot connect with us when we are up in our heads, worrying, analyzing and trying to figure him out.) By doing this, you begin to lighten up. For me, I began feeling better immediately. I felt the tension leaving my body. By just relaxing and acting like everything is okay and you are in control, your vibes will instantly shift, making you more magnetic to your man.

Commit to seeing yourself as a woman who easily inspires her man to want to get as close as he possibly can by not doing anything or working hard to make it happen. Simply being a woman is magnetic to a masculine man. Your only job is to receive the love he has to give. Let’s Recap: Anything we do or say that looks like moving towards our man – calling, texting, initiating, advising, asking him how he feels, being super sweet and understanding, or making things easy for him in any way, actually kills his attraction for us. What draws him towards us is allowing there to be space between us.

Allowing, trusting, receiving and responding to your man is what creates and builds attraction for a man. Try this, it could really work for you, I promise and i would love to hear how this goes for you. To the loving, happy relationship we all deserve. Good luck in love and life. Cheers.
Politics / FG Summons S’africa’s High Commissioner Over Attacks by nairabetguru(m): 10:05am On Apr 23, 2015
• Lagos Consulate office shut
• Senate wants Zulu king dragged to ICC
• Reps demand compensation for victims

THE Federal Government has called on South African authorities to punish the culprits and perpetrators of the xenophobic attacks in their country. They also called for compensation.

Also, the Senate on Wednesday, called on the Federal Government to drag Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini to International Criminal Court of Justice (ICC) over the deadly attacks and to immediately recall the Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador S.S. Yusuf for consultation.

However, following ongoing protests in Nigeria over the attacks, South Africa has closed its consulate office in Lagos.

On its part, the House of Representatives has called on the South African government to facilitate immediate compensation of Nigerians who are victims of the attacks on blacks in some parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Pan-Yoruba group, O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC) has given a 24-hour ultimatum to South Africa to arrest and prosecute the country’s high ranking Zulu monarch Godwill Zwelithi whose alleged hate speech sparked off the attacks.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Min stry, Minister of State II , Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro summoned the High Commissioner, Lulu Mnguni “to register Nigeria’s protest over the attacks against fellow Africans in South Africa.

“In the meeting, Ambassador Obanikoro condemned the attacks, expressing concern on the fate of Nigerians and indeed of other nationals who are migrants in the country,” the statement said.

South Africa, Obanikoro said, needed to take “concrete steps to quell the unrest and bring the culprits involved to book to act as a deterrent and prevent further violence,” the statement added.

He also called on the South African authorities to compensate the victims of these attacks.

In his response, Ambassador Mguni expressed appreciation to the Government of Nigeria on the mature manner the crisis has been handled.

He also expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner in Pretoria and the Consul General of Nigeria in Johannesburg, for their active engagement with the South African authorities on the matter.

In a motion of urgent national interest sponsored by the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba and the remaining 108 Senators, the lawmakers resolved to summon the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, to explain measures taken so far to safeguard lives and properties of Nigerians in South Africa.

The Senate also resolved to urge federal government to pressurize South African government to bring perpetrators of attack, which has left several black Africans residing in South Africa dead, thousands displaced and millions of naira worth of property destroyed since the attack began, to book.

While condemning the barbaric act, the Senate expressed disappointment that South Africans should continue to maltreat and humiliate Nigerians in spite of the crucial role the country played towards ending apartheid.

Senators, who reacted to the motion described the action as condemnable and unacceptable.

President of the Senate, David Mark, in his remark, warned the government and people of South Africa not to push Nigerians to the wall.

“What is happening in South Africa is totally unacceptable, it is unexpected and my humble suggestion will be that South Africa should not stretch us beyond our elastic limit on this matter.

“There is a limit beyond which the nation will not accept what is happening in South Africa and if we go beyond that limit, then,
Nigeria will be forced to act “, Mark stated.

Chairman, House committee on Diaspora Affairs, Abike Dabiri Erewa while presenting the resolution of the House to the South African Ambassador to Nigeria,.

Lulu Louis Mnguni in his office in Abuja, said, apart from putting an end to the provocative and barbaric attacks on immigrants, the South African government should compensate survivors of the xenophobic attacks so that they can restart life.
Politics / The Change Nigeria Needs by nairabetguru(m): 9:46am On Apr 23, 2015
IT is quite re-assuring that President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken at different fora since being declared winner of the poll on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially on the desire of the incoming administration to enthrone financial accountability and defeat corruption, unemployment, as well as indiscipline in all areas of national life, a phenomenon, which in his analysis, three decades ago ‘is the main problem of Nigeria’.

Nigerians are brimming with expectations and would hold him to his words.

Certainly, a lack of discipline is directly responsible for the unhappy state of the country. The failure or, indeed, refusal to be subjected to control, orderliness and greater good, is at the root of the political, economic, and social ills afflicting the society.

This is not a simplistic definition of the Nigerian problem: It is, in its broadest context, to say that self-control and sacrifice for the common good are aspects of integrity which is central to good leadership and governance, and, which, fortuitously, was the unique selling point of the Buhari presidential campaign.

Politics and government during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) years have been characterised largely by a lack of personal discipline on the part of leaders and the deliberate failure to separate personal interest from national interest with the consequence that the common wealth has been brazenly appropriated into private coffers.

The evidence of this is glaring in the reported mismanagement of the treasury and stupendous display of wealth by government officials and their cohorts in the business sector.

The evidence is also in the outrageous end-of-tenure benefits that state governors and other elected officers grant themselves.

A disgusted, disenchanted citizenry yearned for a change, the APC offered it, and both parties have reached an agreement on the civilised platform of free elections.

To use the words of the President –elect, ‘our long night has passed and the daylight of new democratic governance has broken across the land’.

In truth, the presidential election was a victory of one man, as well as of one people. But in order to consolidate this victory, there is much work to do.

The point must be strongly made that Nigerians voted for change, not merely as an end itself, but as a means to achieve a comprehensive improvement in governance and the quality of life.

To this end, therefore, let it be said directly: Nigeria needs now a change in orientation.

Nigerians cannot change where they are coming from, but they can or must change the collective goal, the why and how of it.

This is the clear and urgent task of the incoming APC government led by Buhari.

The party must do things quite differently, must live and govern in accordance with the letters and spirit of progressive politics which, in the ordinary meaning of the term, stands for and promotes political, economic and social reforms in favour of an open government and an increasingly equitable society.

In contrast to conservatives who seek to preserve the status quo and concentrate political and economic powers in the hands of a few, progressives tend to empower the people by spreading resources – voting power, education, health care, employment and more.

The electorate, but even especially the Press by virtue of Section 22 of the extant constitution (as amended), must consistently assess the APC party and government by this yardstick.

The constitution states that ‘the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government’. The welfare of the people is assured when they are empowered to live a productive and decent life.

There is no better means to achieve this than to provide a steady supply of electricity. Buhari’s government must do this quickly and decisively, because with regular and fairly priced power supply, many of Nigeria’s economic and social problems will be substantially solved.

In respect of security, it is clear that the national apparatus, as currently constituted, is incapable of meeting its constitutional obligation. Buhari should commission a thorough assessment of the present state of the security system, its expected role, now and in the future, and the requirements to fulfil these roles efficiently and effectively.

Riding on the crest of popular acknowledgement of his integrity, Buhari must provide moral leadership to this nation. The presidency has been described as not merely an administrative office, but pre-eminently the place of moral leadership. The sine qua non requirement of this is that the General, as leader, must know the way, show the way and go the way.

‘The way’ meaning what is right and best not for his tribe, party or religion, but for this plural nation that has entrusted him with power.

Having run the affairs of this country once, the President-elect understands its complexities as well as the basic needs to get the nation back on track.

In his acceptance speech and in a recent interview granted to the press in his hometown of Daura, Buhari made many of the politically correct statements that politicians utter to win the hearts of the populace. He said: “There shall no longer be a ruling party again; APC will be a governing party… that faithfully serves you”.

He hinted on his belief in the supremacy of the party, on the need for party unity and the leadership of a political party to work in concert, for politicians to derive their relevance from their community; he pledged ‘myself and my government to the rule of law, in which none shall be above the law, that they are subject to its dictates and none shall be so below it that they are not availed of its protection’. Nigerians cannot wait to see their leader walk his talk.
Politics / Patience Jonathan To Quit As African First Ladies President by nairabetguru(m): 9:09am On Apr 23, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan’s loss in the March 28 presidential election has started taking its toll on his wife, Patience.

Arrangements had been concluded for her to quit her position as the President of the African Ladies Peace Mission, two months before the expiration of her tenure.

The mission comprises of wives of Presidents of all African countries.

Mrs. Jonathan was elected the mission’s President at its seventh summit held in Abuja in July 2012 and her tenure would have expired in July 2015 when a new president would have been elected.

But because she will cease to be Nigeria’s President’s wife from May 29 when her husband will hand over power to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari , Mrs. Jonathan had summoned an emergency summit of the mission for May 15 for the purpose of electing her successor.

According to a copy of the invitation to members dated April 6 and personally signed by the President’s wife, she explained that she summoned the emergency summit to ensure that there would not be leadership vacuum in the organisation as it happened in 2010 when her predecessor left office without handing over.

She said her desire was to put in place a standard that would strengthen the organisation and ensure effective mechanism to guarantee seamless takeoff for the incoming leadership.

The invitation partly read, “…Your Excellency may recall that Nigeria was re-elected President of the AFLPM at the 7th Summit in Abuja in July 2012. With the recent election in my country and a new government coming on board from May 29, 2015, it has become necessary to convene an emergency summit of the AFLPM to facilitate a smooth and formal hand over to the new Executive Committee that will pilot the affairs of the Peace Mission for the next two years.

“The Emergency Summit is proposed for Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Interim Secretariat of the African First Ladies Peace Mission, Abuja by 2pm. The Summit will, however, be preceded by the 4th meeting of the Executive Bureau by 9am, on May 15 at the same venue. The Bureau Meeting is for members of the Executive Bureau, comprising South Africa, Sudan, Cameroon, Libya and Congo Brazzaville.

“…In the light of the above, may I appeal to Your Excellency to give utmost consideration to attending the Emergency Summit in order to ensure that our organisation maintains its current momentum.

“We will deeply appreciate your kind early response to help us in planning the Summit, in view of limited time available to us.”

When contacted on the telephone, the Special Assistant to the President on Peace Mission, Mrs. Martha Onwuzurumba, was hesitant.

She demanded to know the source of the information from our correspondent.

Mrs. Onwuzurumba who is the wife of the President’s Chaplain, Ven. Obioma Onwuzurumba, is said to be in charge of the Mission’s secretariat.

She said she would not speak on the matter.

“The African First Ladies Peace Mission is not a Non-Governmental Organisation for Nigeria, so I won’t be able to answer your question,” she said.

The AFLPM, which aims at promoting peace and harmony in Africa, was established in 1995 after the United Nations’ Conference on Women in Beijing, China.

Sports / NFF To Keshi: Make Eagles’ Playing Style Acceptable To All Nigerians by nairabetguru(m): 9:03am On Apr 23, 2015
One of the conditions Coach Stephen Keshi must fulfill in his return to the Super Eagles is to build a team all football loving Nigerians must be proud of its playing style.

Keshi was unveiled as Eagles’ coach in Abuja on Tuesday, where he was handed another two-year contract. Before failing to qualify for the last AFCON in Equatorial Guinea, many Nigerians had fallen out of love with the Super Eagles following its colourless and poor pattern of play.

But NFF’s first Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi, has declared that Keshi must lead the redevelopment of a Nigerian Football culture through the discovery of new talented and exceptional players from the local leagues.

Akinwunmi said that despite the pressure created by a lot of ‘untruths and rumours’ peddled by sections of the public, the board remained resolute in its desire to think long term and to ensure that as administrators, the appointment of the Coach of the Super Eagles was part of a holistic strategy and not a knee jerk reaction to yearnings of the public.

“One of the biggest challenges we are giving him is to build upon the progress we are making with the U-20s and to ensure a seamless transition into the senior national team, the Super Eagles,” Akinwunmi said.

Meanwhile, the proprietor of Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun FC, a division One nationwide club based in Ikorodu, Lagos, Engineer Olamide Rasheed Balogun, has hailed NFF’s decision to re-engage Keshi as Super Eagles’ handler.

Balogun, who is also a stakeholder in the Akanni Teslim (Thunder) Balogun Foundation, told The Guardian yesterday that the NFF leadership under Amaju Pinnick has shown that they listen to the voice of Nigerians, who want the best for the senior national team.

However, Balogun, a supporter of grassroots football development in Lagos State, has called on Keshi to stand up to the challenges ahead of him.
