If Nigeria had gained independence this way, things would not be bad like this. By 'this way' I mean by a feeling of nationalism across every prospective citizen of the new nation to be called Nigeria. A strong desire among everyone to gain independence from British rule and have their own national identity.

Instead, Nigeria was formed by the elite and that is why the elite are the ones still holding it together. Ask your grandparents how involved the average Nigerian was in the struggle fir independence. In the United States, even people who could not fight were sewing uniforms and cooking food for the soldiers. How many of us have learned to 'love' our country? The problem isn't homogenity- the United States was made up of migrants from all over Europe and yet they lived in peace. Their civil war was caused by a disagreement over slavery, which was eventually resolved.

I am not, have never been, and will never be a fan of Nnamdi Kanu and his approach. He seems like an opportunist to me and isn't worthy to lead Biafra in my opinion. But he has succeeded in one area- planting a feeling of love and nationalism for the future nation to be called 'Biafra', if it is actualised. If the person at the helm of the Biafra agitation had been someone cultured, who achieved his aim without throwing insults left and right and propagating lies and hate speech, I wouldn't have any problem with them.

The only concern I have is the almost 'god like' following that Kanu has. George Washington who led the United States to freedom wasn't even the first 'President'. (Go look it up, he refused to be the president even though he was popular, he saw himself as much a citizen as everyone. There were actually 8 president before him during the era of the 'articles of confederation' before their constitution was drawn up). If the Igbo's refuse to be led by a dictator, with this kind of spirit (AND IF THEY HAVE A PLAN) Biafra will do well.

I used to be strongly 'anti seccession' but the country isn't working in its current structure, and though I am advocate for restructuring, if the majority votes for secession then so be it. I feel that each tribe currently in Nigeria has its individual strengths and weaknesses and together we would do a lot (as self sustaining regions) but that's just my opinion.

Concerning the hotel accommodation.
My reason for involving myself is borne out of sheer compassion, I know how it is to go to a city you know nobody and feel helpless that's why I am going to help. So pls if you need the hotel it is 6000 naira a night, I have gone there this morning because some people reached out to me to ask for a discount. The manager said that's the best he can offer for now but ge would be willing to do 5,500 if the individuals are serious. Edakun Pls call my number in time, I would be willing to offer any assistance to help you get to the hotel and help you get to the university's ICT dept on your test date. Just be serious. Be aware that you would have to pay a deposit of 1k to be able to keep the room because it sells out fast and avoid getting stranded.
For those that are scared, like I said dnt worry about anything God has brought you guys my way and I dnt want anybody getting stranded in a city I stay in.
On how to get to the exam hall, from the hotel it is 50 naira by shared bus or taxi. A private cab would cost 350 naira.

I want to believe so much has been said on this platform as regards the format of the test. For the engineering guys, practice with indianbix. Geoscience - physcical geology by plummer will come handy. Environmnetal science - from chemistry to biology to physics to geography. Just read up.

Regardless of the failings of NDDC in paying scholars promptly, the scholarship is still a golden opportunity to be educated outside the shores of Nigeria. Give it your very best. It will bring life changing opportunity to some people.

Note that this aptitude test is only one part of the assessment that make up the entire scholarship process. The higher you score, the brighter your chance of getting it. Another important factor is the correlation between your first degree and your proposed degree. This is one factor applicants over look and have paid darely for. I have seen people score so high in the test but end up not getting it because of lack of correlation in their courses.


Regardless of how people will want to paint this scheme as lacking in merit and credibility, I must say that such can't be totally written off, but there is to a large extent regard for merit. Ensure you give it your best, and let whatever faith you believe in work out the rest for you.

On a final note - ensure you don't delete the text message (invite) you were sent, as the codes and numbers stated in it will come handy during the interview process. You will need to fill them on a form you will be given during the oral interview.
