yeah, yeah so, if you're au natural, join this thread! by au natural i mean, you eat organic foods, your hair is natural, you limit the use of synthetic chemicals in your daily life, etc. you use natural products as much as possible like shea butter, coco butter oil, whatever.

why did you go 'au natural'? how do you try to live au natural? what products do you use?
 guys and ladies welcome!!!!!

i guess i'll start.

my hair has been natural for 15 years. it's pretty long. i got sisterlocks last year. if you don't know what sisterlocks are, go to www.sisterlocks.com  or
http://sisterlocks.com/Photo_Gallery/Photo_Gallery_new.html

on my skin i use: african black soap, tea tree oil, and shea butter.
fragrances: lemon oil, lavendar oil. i do buy perfumes from estee lauder. i LOVEEEEEEE to smell good
i eat organic food as much as possible. mostly fruits and veggies and whole grains. lots of water. no soda or fast food. why i do this? i'm sick of living with toxins and pollution. so, since i can't control all the external influences, i try to do my part to help my body.

cool cheesy wink

Re: All About The Au Natural! by iice(f): 4:31pm On Sep 09, 2009
Used to be au natural with my hair. Just didn't like the way permed hair looked back then (my brothers called it the coconut husk hair grin). Not that i have my hair permed now though.

Skin? Pomade grin I'm still razz like that cool Ok when it's hot, i opt for baby oil.

Food? No way. When my mother is around, yes i have to eat healthy (she's a health nut) but when she leaves. . cheesy I do limit my intake of soda though. Lots of water yea.

Re: All About The Au Natural! by Nobody: 9:52pm On Sep 09, 2009
The only natural thing about me is my hair.
I can count endless times I had tried doing the whole fruit thingy, trying to eat right and all that, it just didn't work out.

@africhika

Do u take natural foods, maca root and the like?
Re: All About The Au Natural! by africhika(f): 10:15pm On Sep 10, 2009
^^ yeah, i eat a lot of nuts (unsalted) for the protein since i don't eat a lot of meat. salmon salmon, oh and salmon. ground flax seeds.

a typical day of food for me.
breakfast: yogurt and i'll throw in ground flax seeds, pecans, and blueberries. carrot/apple juice.
lunch: home-made salad, no dressing- just olive oil and lemon juice, salmon, maybe a slice of wheat bread.
dinner: fruit cocktail. water.
i only eat one cooked meal a day, usu. lunch. i'm mostly into raw foods: fruits, salads, nuts, yogurt. i make my own juice too. what's maca root?

mohawkchic, no worries, u can still get there  cool

Checking in!

Organic food? too expensive, lol. I do try to eat fresh and healthy.
I love my natural hair although it can be pain at times. I mainly use organix coconut shampoo and conditioner, shea butter and coconut oil for moisturizing
For my skin, I use coconut oil  mix with shea butter and I love it!! I wish I can use it on my face but it makes me break out sad My dark skin is smoother, softer and flawless.

Does anyone know any natural product I can use for my oily face to even it out?
Re: All About The Au Natural! by Gamine(f): 4:13am On Sep 12, 2009
@omonija1

You should try tea tree oil or

Look for The Body Shop's Tea Tree Toner or any tea tree oil cream

You can also try using Olive oil, steam your face for a few minutes then rinse off.

Lemon juice, very good. You can slice a lemon and apply directly to your skin.

Thank you. I'll def. try the tee tree oil. Hope it works
I also heard about Vitamin E oil for even skin. I'm scared to try that because it might be too oily for me but I donno, Do you recommend that?
Re: All About The Au Natural! by platinumnk(f): 6:00am On Sep 12, 2009

Re: All About The Au Natural! by Gamine(f): 6:07am On Sep 12, 2009
@omonija1

i wont really recommend Vit E oil, except you're going to mix it in
with some other "dry" cream, cos this oil is tres oily.lol

infact its the least recommended for oily skin

Re: All About The Au Natural! by mamagee6(f): 7:34pm On Sep 12, 2009
She needs her hair back.
Re: All About The Au Natural! by Nobody: 8:02pm On Sep 12, 2009
how old is she? 23

she looks older, boyish and her ears stick out a bit.

I'd stay with longer hair if I were her.

She can at least do a short bob like halle Berry.
Re: All About The Au Natural! by Gamine(f): 8:03pm On Sep 12, 2009
She looks so "gamine'  grin so pretty aww.
she doesnt need any more hair jo.lol

Im about to do a Plaintain and Honey treatment on my hair n skin
Helps moisturize and makes the skin glow.

I noticed the effect when a friend was like "han han, i have more flesh than you, why is your skin shinier"

hehe, its so nice being able to do stuff without going to any Salon (hate those places)

Hey all. I've been transitioning from a relaxer to natural for 10 months now. I'm cutting the last relaxed ends off next Saturday! I use Shea Butter on my skin and Coconut Oil for my hair. I also try and avoid shampoo and co-wash instead.
