Music/Radio / The Truth: Pia Mia's "I'm A Fan" Was Not Stolen. by nkemma54(m): 10:08am On May 29, 2017
http://pulse.ng/buzz/phyno-pia-mia-the-true-story-about-the-controversial-i-m-a-fan-song-id6750672.html

The true story about the controversial ‘I’m a fan’ song

Did an American singer steal Phyno’s song which has been released in Nigeria? Here’s the full story about the record.

The entire Nigeria is up in arms about a perceived theft of Phyno’s song by an American singer named Pia Mia.

The record in quote is a song named ‘I’m a fan’ which was released by Phyno in 2016 as part of his “The Playmaker” album. Phyno’s version featured Mr Eazi, and another relative newcomer, Decarlo. The song which is an urban Carrribean fusion, has not been made a single by the Nigerian rapper, but it is one of the critically loved records on the project.

The song was produced by Benjamz.

On May 26, 2017, American singer and songwriter, Pia Mia, released a version of the song which featured singer Jeremih. The similarities between hers and Phyno were present from the start. Pia Mia employs the same song title (I’m a fan’), extremely similar production, chorus, and verse.

On basic inspection, they are the same song, but Pia Mia’s version was produced by Remo the Hitmaker.

The basic crowd mentality with singles in Nigeria is that whoever releases it first owns the song, and very other version is a copy. And that’s what’s been happening. Pia Mia has been dragged across Nigerian social media as a thief, with fans and music enthusiasts accusing her of blatant theft.

But here’s the story. Pia Mia did not steal any song. She didn’t take Phyno’s record, neither did she appropriate the music. The true story is way beyond her.

The story of ‘I’m a fan’ single began from Phyno, Jeremih and producer Remo. According to verified sources close to Phyno’s camp, the rapper was working on incorporating Island-ready production on his sophomore album to tap into the international market. He was in talks with Remo, who sent him the song to work with.

“The guy sent the song to us, and we wanted to work together, but something happened and we couldn’t use it,” our source tells Pulse.

Due to issues regarding remuneration, clearances and demands, Phyno and Remo did not work together. But Phyno liked the idea of the sound, so he sought the help of producer Benjamz, who reconstructed the single, and brought on Mr Eazi and Decarlo to collaborate and release the record.

Remo, who had totally abandoned the Phyno project, still has his music, and so when Pia Mia tapped him and Jeremih for a new record, they had this one ready-made for her to record and release.

These things are not uncommon. In 2014, Phyno’s ‘Authe’ record featuring Flavour, and DJ Spinall’s ‘Gba gbe’ featuring Burna Boy possessed similar melody and lyrics in the choruses. But it was also a recording misunderstanding which was never taken to court. Both Burna Boy and Flavour had worked on a song, which was never finished. So they supplied it to other people.

So Pia Mia, did not steal a Nigerian song. Phyno and Remo had a misunderstanding, and the music has been duplicated [by its real owner Remo]

Would any action be taken?

According to our source, no official communication has been passed between Phyno and his team, hence at the moment, there is no official response. Pia Mia has not responded too. The singer has chosen to focus on promoting her new single, which is receiving initial positive reviews.

Well permit me to point that in terms of performances, the latest MTK isn't on par with the latest Snapdragon chips, MTK only began catching up with competitive processors in 2015.
In terms of battery, MTK is more power conserving than Snapdragon chips, it's a known and experimented fact.
And yeah Qualcomm owns adreno, the GPU they use so it's all integrated unlike MTK chips with mali GPUs

I won't even follow you and start talking

gadgetsngs:

Please i wish to know @ the highlighted

1.) Mediatek:

It is a Taiwanese company. It uses more cores in it's processors(like octa core, hexa core, deca core).

Battery Life:

The mediatek chipsets are known to be more power draining and results in less battery life. Now they are optimizing their processors to be more power efficient but still lags behind their competetion in terms of battery life.

Performance:

Performance wise their processors are very good.Due the availability of extra cores, mediatek processors can handle intensive and heavy tasks and they are very good at multi-tasking.But we can see all this practically if we have sufficient Ram.Yes more cores demand more Ram to give best performance.

Heating Problem

Now coming to the heating problem. All the processors deliver heat while performing tasks. Mediatek processors deliver more heat(more cores=more heat) than the others.

Graphics:

Coming to graphics,Mediatek employs Mali graphics which is a third party graphics vendor(So graphics architectue is different from cpu and its performance may not match with cpu). It is really important to match the performances of cpu and gpu(graphics) so that the whole chipset performs efficiently and effectively.

Simply put. Everything bout MTK phones are 3rd party. 3rd party gpu, 3rd party gps. The only thing they got built in is...well...the processor.

2.)Snapdragon:

Snapdragon chipsets are manufactured by Qualcomm (American) company.

Snapdragon chipsets are not only just CPU's they incorporate other many processors in their chipsets. This is the main difference between Snapdragon and other chipsets.

Snapdragon chipsets are named as SoC's(System on chip) which means their chipsets(SoC's) have a CPU,GPU(Adreno Graphics),Image processor,Media processor,DSP(Digital Signal Processor),Cellular Modem unit,Wifi Modue,Radio Module,GPS Module,...etc. All these modules and Processors are inside of a snapdragon chip.Yes they incorporated all these things inside their chips.Hence their chips are costly.

But don't fear, they are learning well.

Which one be modified local government unified marriage certificate abeg. I never marry yet. Curious 1st before I talk on this matter.

Small edit.
Nice crack down on corruption “Most of the marriages conducted by local government registries are sham and were merely used to obtain visas by desperate Nigerians. We have written to the embassies not to give out visas based on such marriage certificates,” he said.

This is a nice move by the judicial system. I wish they were more active on more pressing matters.
So this doesn't annul marriages, but it
renders whatever money spent in getting those certificates a waste
will facilitate spending by those affected and some form of corruption by greedy officials looking for gain
and those local government houses will be filled with more people like the sham called 'national ID card registration' wasn't problem enough.

They should simple reduce the value of our Notes by 1digit. Basically removing any note higher than 100 -N- from circulation, than introduce new 100 notes. So all those millions in circulation and burial ground would be useless.
This method would revert back to using 100naira notes and curb excessive plundering and Tiefing, because in practice the politicians only introduced higher note to aid stealing, can you imagine stealing 10Milla all in hunids... grin grin

I totally with the Senator. In other African countries you can buy something of 3 kwacha, meticals, etc but in Nigeria we can't add a Naira to our prices because we can't get 1, 2, 3 or 4 Naira to give as change. Because we do not use coins that is why "pure water" jumped from 5 to 10 Naira. If they sale 7 Naira, where will they get 3 Naira change to give?

Guy it seems your head is not processing what the senators said properly undecided

My comment will help you understand better.

These fools are failing to realize that the USA also controlled devaluation by recalling their higher currency denominations ($500 note, $1000 note, $10000 note, and $100000 note; yes the USA has a $100000 note, Google is your friend), and then controlled the availability of the $200 note.
Take a cue and get rid of this damn N500 and N1000 notes, our nairas devaluation started there.
Yes, bring back the forgotten coins, great idea (but converting current lower denominations to coins is even more foolish) and see if our currency won't appreciate against the dollar.

If they should convert our N5 to N50 into coins, they are breeding grounds for another hyped inflation namely creating the N5000 note, and that will end the lives of the poor in this country.

Who be them foolish "experts" sef

londonrivals:
The Central Bank of Nigeria should convert the country’s lower currency notes into coins to facilitate “highly repetitive” retail transactions, the Senate said Tuesday.

The advice came after a Senator spoke on the implications of rejection of the existing coin denominations for the economy.

“The local retailers keep rejecting the coins because commercial banks won’t accept them as deposit, even when they are reflected on paper, and the CBN still recognizes them as legal tender,” said Mustapha Bukar, the APC Senator representing Katsina South.

Given the rejection, plus the loss of value of the coins due to inflation, Mr. Bukar, therefore, suggested conversion of the the lower notes into coins to “cater for highly repetitive transactions” which “overwhelming majority” of Nigerians are engaged in due to “location and income”.

“Since the three coin denominations of 50 kobo, one kobo and 10 kobo have lost their values due to inflation, the conversion of lower currency notes to coins will facilitate retail transactions in the economy, like we have in developed countries,” the senator said.

“Despite the huge budget by the CBN on sensitising Nigerians on the need to accept coins, the transaction chains were broken and banks and customers reject the currency, thus, promoting corruption and escalating inflation to the extent of diminishing the value of the coins.”

Quoting unnamed “experts”, he said coin denominations were important in helping control devaluation of country’s currency. Taking an instance from the U.S.A, he said a reason why one cent had not phased out “is due to inflationary ramifications of such a move”.

He observed that coins were still being used in advanced countries, including the United Kingdom, Japan, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates, but lamented Nigeria has now become the only country in West Africa “where there is a total absence of the coins in the economy.”

“In Nigeria, there are two types of retail payments; the highly repetitive small value transactions, such as urban transportation, sweets, cigarettes, kola nuts, sachet water, vegetable etc., as well as, less frequent but high value transactions like clothing, footwear, raw foodstuff, electronics etc.

“Coin currencies are designed globally to cater for highly repetitive transactions because of the nature and conditions under which they happen, such as crowded markets, bus stations, congested traffic, and varying weather conditions, including rainy, sunny and humid conditions in which notes are ill-suited for them.

“Countries regularly upgrade their coinage to keep pace with the prices of this category of retail items,” Mr. Bukar explained.

Following the motion, the Senate, led by Ike Ekweremadu, resolved to urge the CBN to intensify efforts to bring coins back to the economy; and convert lower currency notes into coins to be used “side-by-side with the notes” to facilitate highly repetitive retail transactions in the country.

The Senate also urged the CBN to impose sanction on any commercial bank that rejects coins as deposit.

Nigeria’s current currency notes are: N5, N10, N20, N50, N100, N200, N500 and N1000.

Mr. Bukar did not mention exactly which ones he defined as “lower notes”.
