Happy Sunday guys,

When coming to Germany, aside the excitement of running away from Nigeria, please prepare yourself mentally for the months to come, you will not only be faced with loneliness and dark grey weather, you may also experience SAD (seasonal affective disorder) please try to connect to others who are on here.

Update: I recently moved to Berlin from a smaller town hoping that capital city might make a difference. OYO for me.

Please move to cities where you have friends. People here are very uptight and individualist. Don't end up like me. Corona doesn't even help either

Thank You

Moving to Berlin in January, if you dont mind we could connect

Thanks, but i meant that i'm a bachelor going for masters degree in Germany. Your answer was still ok.

Oh, as long as you can justify the gaps... should be ok but might be hard. If you secure Interview first then you half way through

please, what's the possibility that a 38 years old bachelor would get a German student visa? between a program in urban studies and another in data science, which have better employment prospects in Germany?

Wow, tough tbh. You need to prove to the VO why you want to do a bachelor at 38. Your chances are very very slim tbh.. even for a Msc

Data science all the way

Nice to have you back. Whats the market base for embedded software engineers right there. I have sights at RWTH Aachen and TUM and hoping to get to B1 German...options spread smiley

Anything IT related sells like crazy as is in any part of the world. You don't even need that much German. Just be good at what you do. Again the school doesn't matter, all na bants

Ok. I dunno. Jobs are generally hard to find here in the east. I studied in Hamburg so did all my student hustle there.

Read up both places online.. although I think both are same in terms if hustle

Good morning all,
I have bn following dis trend now for like 4years,Germany has bn my dream land..I am a pharmacist by profession. Graduated with a cgpa of 4.43. Hoping to move to Germany next year for my msc n likely remain dier after all.
Presently I work n a multinational company in Nigeria. With a take home pay of over 200k. Please I want to be sure of my decision..pls does it worth it ? Without any knowledge of German language can one get a job to keep him going in germany. Also what are the prospects of foreign pharmacist in Germany?
Anticipating ur responses..Thanks
Lol over 200k? How much is that in euros?
Lol. Small change.
My advice? Dont come to Germany. Apply to Canada instead. Use their PR route. You will need to speak at least B2 German to practice here after school... and trust me, it's not easy.

Modified: I wasn't in any way playing down your current earnings. Considering the Buhari climate, its infact quite tangible.. but please leave that country. That 200k is nothing compared to your potential future earnings

I did forget this thread when I had valuable info... damn

Anyways, any BSc student reading this and wants to do a summer internship in Canada should Google Mitacs undergraduate research internship.

The next round of applications unfortunately starts from May/June of this year for 2020 summer interns.

I was in Canada last summer, and I am a Mitacs ambassador.. phew. Best time of my life ever. The experience was amazing!!! We dey suffer for this Germany walai. Try to make use of the opportunity and once you live there, you would truly know what it means to live abroad.

Ps: No one should pm me regarding details of this topic. I won't respond. Ask your questions here, and when I have time or happen to visit Nairaland again, I will respond to them. But research about the internship first and dont ask me baby questions and expect me to spoon feed you. I don't have the time for that.

It's a fully funded 6500 CAD 3 month internship, plus flight and all, and the good thing is you can return to Canada after graduation for graduate studies via a 15000CAD grant.

Hahahah... just remembered my signing out signature when I was active on here... as a Visa hopeful!

Winter is coming! grin

Well the OP could just say German. No need to distinguish em. Anyways everyone knows Eastern Germany to be racist. Again depends on where you are as some places are more racist than others.

Racism is everywhere but is how you deal with it and most times, you just get does weird stare and sometimes, might not want to seat near you int the train or remove their bags for you to seat. It does not worry me as i love Saxony. For jobs, some students are getting them but they really like you to communicate even with Basic German.

The towns and accommodation are cheap but for me,i am going to see if i can remain in Saxony and especially with the 2years permit they give. If renewing, you do not have to block money again. Since we are under Frieberg.....

I have met some Nigerians that relocated from the big cities to come to the East of Germany to settle and have jobs. But it depends on what an individual wants to achieve here in Germany.

My 50euro contribution.
What city are you in?
I'm currently in Dresden

My white German friend told me that most Germans don't like going to eastern part of Germany...lack of job opportunities and so on, apart from berlin... and also it has high racism...the towns are cheap, with cheap accommodation, and feeding though. that's what he told me, but hr might be wrong

Lol 'white' German friend
