Tchai, I don miss this thread sha...

It was on here where it all started, where we slept dreaming about Deutschland, the onyibos, the infrastructure, the flight by air, everything...

Thankfully, a lot of us made it here, and are presently contemplating the next step, as life is a journey, the struggle and hope for a better future never ceases until one passes away.

To those still having hope of breathing the German air, never never give up! And I'd sound it loudly and clearly here: there are a lot of opportunities abound when you sabi the language. Germany has even more opportunities than Canada and other English speaking countries, and it's the perfect time to be here as the country has started getting more receptive towards black folks..

Don't forget. Learn oh Learn German. They told me, but I say no level we go learn when we reach there. I don reach here and I no fit still learn. Nobody placed a big emphasis on the importance of German whilst I was still in Nigeria reading this thread, and the few who did, their voices were drowned.. In the end, my first few months ended in frustration.. Heck I have lost some excellent opportunities due to my inability to comprehend fluent German.

Anyhow, if you want to get a job here after school, unless it's IT or some special engineering fields, then fluent German knowledge is almost non negotiable... Also whilst you apply for schools from Nigeria, apply for fields that you know you would not have to be in tough competition with Germans to secure job placements after studies.

This is my own small contribution. And I will end with my favourite phrase which I used alot when was still a visa hopeful: To those of you who still dream the German dream, do not fret, for

#WinterIsComing.

Hello @honourableseyi

Please I want to find out if the funding of DB is to be done once? Or can be funded in halves? May be drop 5k and 4k onwards.

Please how is the funding done, I don't want to use black market as the exchange rate is high... Advise.
Thank you

I think you can fund as you like. And you get confirmation when the funding is complete...

I'm not so sure though, other ogas can chime in.. But I'm certain you can fund at the rate you get the cash.

Romance / Re: 13 Very Important Things Every Guy Observes In A Girl!!! by Obiwannn: 6:16pm On Jun 12, 2017
importexpert:
I once created a thread on “13 very important things every girl observes in a guy.” You can read it here if you missed it using this link: https://www.nairaland.com/3826072/13-very-important-things-every

So, this thread is the other side of the coin. When a guy looks at a girl, he takes note of certain things about her. Of course, you don’t expect him to spill everything to her, do you? It is on the basis of these things that he makes his judgements about her.
Let’s take a look at the basic things a guy observes in a girl when he meets her. Are you ready? Good! Let the show begin! Ghen Ghen Ghen Ghen.

1. Whether she is pretty: All guys love beautiful women. They are a special treat to the eye. It is almost impossible for you to see a guy who does not want a pretty woman. This is the first check.

2. Whether she is hot: This is definitely the next on the list. While beauty has to do with the face, being hot as to do with her figure. This is where guys occupied with descriptions of a girl’s backside and fronts side and all the rest. You can’t blame us for this; guys will always be guys. We are creatures of sight.

3. Her dressing: Her sense of dressing is important too. A guy would make an assessment of her style of dressing. Most guys would love dressing styles that stun without exposing it all.

4. Her manner of expression: When she talks to people around her, is she polite or rude? There is something attractive about a woman who is courteous with her words.

5. Her frequency of smile and laughter: Maybe to stroke the male ego? Most guys observe these two things in a woman. Having a girl around who smiles frequently and can laugh easily can help a lot of guys to relax. A girl who frowns or hardly smiles is a “no” for most guys.

6. How quickly she gets angry: Guys often like to know how volatile a woman is. If she gets angry too easily, it means there is some fire on the mountain for the guy. Guys prefer women who are calm headed than them.

7. Her level of intelligence: Many guys are fond of this. During a conversation, they would stretch the discussion to the use of sarcasm and witty expressions just to see how well she can cope. Maybe that is understandable since science told us that a child gets his intelligence from his mother.

8. Her attitude to money: Men take notice of how a girl handles money. Is she the type that is always hasty to buy all manner of things as soon as money gets into her hand? They want to know if she can manage money wisely.

9. Personal Hygiene: Yes, girls ought to be a beacon of light as far as this issue is concerned but anymore. So, a lot of guys pay attention to the personal hygiene of girls starting from things such as her hair, mouth breath, nails etc.

10. Honesty: You won’t believe this but some guys create avenues for a girl to lie or tell the truth. This is what will make a guy act as though he knows nothing about an event just to see if she would be truthful. It is all part of trying to see if a girl is trustworthy.

11. Her level of maintenance: Guys are interested in knowing beforehand the level of maintenance of a girl. This is easy to gauge by her hair, shoes, bags etc. Guys just simply want to know which kind of load their head can carry.

12. Her attitude: It is easy for a girl to be nice to a guy she likes and those around him. But her real attitude is in how she treats strangers that comes her way. E.g. the waitress that attends to her in an eatery.

13. Her culinary skills: In as much as this is Africa, this will always be a source of interest to guys. Guys want to be sure that a girl can cook local dishes effortlessly. Generally, guys can joke with a lot of things but not with good foods.

And that’s it nairalanders! What’s your take on this?
I know for sure you cannot have it all.

Next please!

Travel / Re: Where Are Nigerians In Australia . by Obiwannn: 12:37am On May 07, 2017
WellEndowed:

You stand a better chance at making it in Australia than in Germany..YES I SAID IT. Take it from someone who has lived in both countries. The menial jobs in Germany pay nothing compared to Australia. Many agencies in Germany take more than half of your pay. I know of a student in Germany during my time who was being paid about a little over 6 euros working in a warehouse outside of Cologne. Her pay was supposed to be a little over 12 euros but 6 euros was going to the agency that employed her... leaving her with barely enough. When she found out she quit.

We all know agencies have their cut but when you take too much and give the person doing the work almost nothing, then you are a thief.
well MrsCB just complained about menial jobs being quite hard to come by in Australia... Anyways with regard to student jobs, I can speak specifically for my city (Hamburg). There are lots of jobs abound where you don't have to work for agencies, also there are lots of automobile companies (Daimler, Audi, etc) where you can do holiday jobs and earn up to 2,000 euros monthly after tax. Anyways, my motivation for considering Australia is not menial jobs per se, but professional jobs. I might need menial jobs to get by initially, but I don't think getting one should be a problem given that English is the language spoken there (or would it?). That said I'd love to get your contact details, there are a lot of questions I would like to ask you, as I want to really know if the grass is really greener on that side before making the switch.

Dankeschön.

Hi, getting a job in Adelaide is not easy. There are jobs but u have to really search hard and apply to alot cos the number of job seekers are more than the jobs. I was able to get one 2weeks after i arrived.

Are you talking about menial jobs or professional jobs? And what kind of jobs can one get there?

These things happen, it goes both ways, women and men cheat but there's something I don't understand, a guy has a gf he truly loves, calls her his number one and genuinely he loves her like no other but still sleeps with several ladies and yes they feel there's nothing wrong in that, as a matter of fact he and his friends sees it as absolutely nothing wrong, it's so normal but a Lady cheats and hell is let loose.

Don't get me wrong cos I am not justifying cheating, as long as there's no ring on the finger they owe each other nothing, she knew what she was doing all along, he was being played, the signs were there one way or the other but he must have been too blind to see it.

And I hate the part where an act of a person is used to judge a nation.

And I have to say this SEXXX is not LOVE.

Many partners have forgiven their cheating partners, it takes a strong man or woman to forgive cheating outside marriage, but when married its a no no, but I still remember my mom forgiving my cheating dad.

Please I'm looking for job in Adelaide, can anyone please assist me with any type of job.
going through this place, seeing how menial jobs are difficult to get is scaring the hell out of me oh. I would think that in an English speaking country, menial jobs and professional jobs should be readily available. Here in Germany for example, menial jobs are very very easy to come by, all you need is the language, still depending on your location there are some English jobs available. The reason I want to swap Germany for Australia is because of professional jobs; not that they aren't here in my field per se, but the major problem is language. I only hope that it is truly greener on the other side oh.
