However, despite its contributions, the region grapples with long-standing challenges, notably socio-economic disparity and infrastructural deficiencies. Addressing these issues demands urgent and strategic intervention, particularly through an increased budgetary allocation to the Niger Delta Ministry of Development. The recent suspension of the budget defense hearing for the Ministry of Niger Delta Development by the Joint Committee at the National Assembly has brought critical concerns regarding the region's underwhelming budgetary allocation to the forefront. This development underscores the pressing need to bolster financial support for an agency tasked with fostering holistic development within the Niger Delta. The proposed budget for the year 2024, totaling N21,276,015,678.00 billion, presents a breakdown showing allocations of N18,066,640,858.00 billion for capital, N1,167,783,281.00 billion for overhead costs, and N2,041,591,535.00 billion for personnel expenses. These figures highlight the stark disparity between the allocated funds and the magnitude of challenges prevalent in the region. Addressing Historical Neglect and Enabling Equitable Redress The Niger Delta has historically endured neglect despite its significant contributions to the nation's economic prosperity. The disparity in development, coupled with environmental degradation due to oil exploration, necessitates a corrective and equitable approach. Augmenting the budget allocation is crucial to rectifying historical imbalances and ensuring that the region benefits from its resources. Critical Infrastructure and Urgent Remediation Basic infrastructure such as roads, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and access to electricity remains a dire need in the Niger Delta. The current budget allocations fall short in addressing these deficiencies, underscoring the urgent need for increased funding to uplift communities and drive socio-economic growth. Environmental Restoration and Sustainable Management The environmental degradation resulting from oil exploration continues to plague the Niger Delta. The Listening Baba: Why Tinubu Stays Ahead Of Critics With Mischief On Their Minds Let's start with a classic fable, "The Man, The Boy, and The Donkey," as it lays the foundation for today's discussion. In this fable, a man and his son are on their way to the market with their donkey. As they walk, they encounter various people who criticize them for how they use the donkey. First, a passerby scolds them for not riding the donkey. So, they put the son on the donkey, but then they are criticized for making the father walk. Next, they try both riding the donkey, and others call the son lazy for not walking. Eventually, they carry the donkey on a pole, which leads to even more ridicule. As they cross a bridge, the donkey falls into the river and drowns. An old man observes the situation and offers the lesson: "Please all, and you will please none." The fable teaches that trying to please everyone can lead to unfavorable consequences. Now, let's turn our attention to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Baba Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has repeatedly demonstrated his capacity to listen and prioritize the pulse of the people however like the above fable some may not be pleased with his decisions because of mischief. Yes I say mischief because the sincerity of purpose is not there , for instance why would some people tell the man and the son to carry the donkey on their head if they are not wicked souls? So sometimes when you try to please everyone, you often end up pleasing no one. In an attempt to accommodate the varying opinions and criticisms of others, the man and his son make a series of ill-fated choices that ultimately lead to the loss of their donkey. This fable teaches the valuable lesson that it's impossible to avoid criticism from everyone, and it's better to make decisions based on what is right or necessary rather than trying to please everyone. A recent example of Tinubu's responsiveness is the appointment of Abubakar Momoh as the Minister of Youth. This decision sparked a public outcry, with concerns that Momoh did not represent the youth. In a swift response, Baba had a rethink and reassigned Momoh to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, demonstrating his ability to listen and adjust. It's possible that Tinubu's intention in appointing a 25-year-old as the Chairman of the FERMA Board was to cater to the younger generation. However, a significant number of individuals, myself included, raised objections. We believed that an agency as critical as FERMA required a leader with not only the necessary qualifications and experience but also the respect and acknowledgment of their peers and colleagues. In response to these concerns, the President took appropriate action and rescinded the appointment. Tinubu has once more demonstrated his attentive approach, and this very article highlights his ability to truly grasp the nation's sentiment. This marks a significant shift, with a president who is notably responsive to the people's needs and desires. However, it's essential to recognize that Tinubu's leadership will not mirror the missteps of the man, his son, and the donkey by attempting to appease even those who engage in mischief, potentially jeopardizing the nation's well-being. Tinubu consistently transcends the criticisms fueled by mischief and remains attuned to the authentic concerns of Nigerians. His track record, since taking office, is evident in his appointments. Today, the youth are presented with ample opportunities, and it's now their responsibility to meet the expectations of future generations. An open heart is not an empty head , Tinubu sure knows what to do and has long as he has the listening ears Nigeria would continue to forge on the part of prosperity let us as citizens in turn imbibe the spirit of creativity to adapt to the current challenges we face especially the ones associated with the removal of the fuel subsidy. It's a shining example of Nigerians' enduring wit and humour. The popular saying "no evidence, you go explain tire" finds its roots in a notable statement by Burna Boy. This expression essentially conveys that without substantial evidence to substantiate your claims, you'll find yourself in the position of continuously justifying your assertions to skeptics. Burna Boy's use of this statement appears to be in response to Davido's comments during an interview, in which Davido said that he and Wizkid paved the way for upcoming Afrobeats musicians such as Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, and Fireboy DML.They were dubbed the "New Cats" by him. Burna Boy's retort can be seen as a subtle jab at Davido's confidence, highlighting that despite Davido's success, Burna Boy's Grammy accolades set him apart as a true luminary. Netizens are vocally criticizing Atiku Abubakar for an alleged name change intended to secure employment in the Customs service, supposedly involving the identity of Siddiq Abubakar and his WAEC certificate. Some have begun advocating for #JusticeForSiddiqAbubakar, implying that Atiku may have unfairly benefited from this situation, akin to the calls for justice seen in the case of MOHBAD. Wow, Atiku's case is akin to a man who enjoys bending down to inspect the anus of others, unaware that his own is not only open but polluted with excreta.It appears that Atiku would continue to explain to Nigerians his anomalies in not only his certifications but also his questionable political past. Dr. Josef Onoh, for example, asserts that the real Siddiq Abubakar, whom Atiku claimed to change his name from, is a Cameroonian, not Nigerian. Atiku purportedly used this alleged forged certificate and an affidavit to secure admission into Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) under the pretense of being Nigerian. Onoh further alleges that Atiku utilized this to progress within the Nigerian civil service and eventually ascend to the position of Vice President. During the era in question, digital technology was not prevalent, allowing Atiku to benefit from this purported forgery. Furthermore, the affidavit Atiku claims to have deposed to regarding his name change in 1973 allegedly lacks an official stamp or seal, unlike most documents from the 1970s that typically bore a postal stamp. Thus, it remains for Siddiq, also known as Atiku, to elucidate the origins of the affidavit he is presenting. In essence, Siddiq Abubakar and Atiku Abubakar are distinct individuals, and Atiku should understand that Nigeria is not a computer game, allowing shape-shifting akin to the character 'Shang Tsung' from Mortal Kombat. Well, it seems like a colossal bombshell has been detonated in this debate, and it's leaving a significant impact. Among the voices expressing their concerns, Chinenye Udeh, a prominent social commentator, voiced his disapproval of Atiku's alleged actions. Kindly grant me the opportunity to commence this article with my cherished fairy tale, one that I often find myself revisiting—the enduring story of Tortoise and his Father-in-law, and the valuable lessons it imparts. In this tale, Tortoise's Father-in-law held the esteemed position of King, and within his kingdom, a decree was established. This decree stipulated that should anyone be apprehended for theft in the realm, they would be firmly bound to a tree in the bustling market square for a duration of 24 hours. The purpose of this punishment was to ensure that those passing through the market would witness this spectacle, thereby serving as a powerful and ignominious deterrent to potential wrongdoers. Thus, when Tortoise was discovered stealing a yam, the King, who also happened to be Tortoise's beloved father-in-law, found himself compelled to enforce the punishment. Consequently, Tortoise was escorted to the market square, where his actions were met with approval from the populace. They commended the King for administering the same strict treatment to his in-law, reaffirming the principle that no one was exempt from the rule of law. Following the completion of the initial 24-hour period, the palace guards arrived to free Tortoise. However, he expressed genuine remorse and requested to endure another 24 hours tied to the market square to demonstrate his sincere repentance. Upon hearing this, the King was delighted to see that his beloved son-in-law was truly contrite. While MOHBAD may not be a household name for many, Naira Marley, a widely recognized figure, faced accusations of playing a role in MOHBAD's tragic passing. Now, let's pose this question with an open mind, setting aside any sentiments. Even if one were to entertain sentiments, they couldn't surpass my commitment to speaking the truth. So, here's the question: If Lawrence Anini were accused of conspiring to eliminate Monday Osunbor, and let's imagine, for the sake of discussion, that he succeeded, would the nation come to an end just because one notorious criminal planned the downfall of another equally notorious criminal ? It has been affirmed by these very individuals who accuse Naira Marley of being linked to MOHBAD's demise that both of them were purportedly involved in a drug syndicate. They even provided evidence, such as photos of Naira Marley with firearms and narcotics, among other things. In fact, they assert that MOHBAD was involved in a multitude of activities similar to those attributed to Naira Marley. Given this shared involvement, why does such a strong sense of outrage persist? This is where the analogy of Tortoise and his in-law becomes relevant. Often, someone who shouldn't be a role model suddenly emerges as the hero. Obaseki should exercise caution to avoid a situation similar to that of MOHBAD and Philip Shaibu. It's important to clarify that I am not suggesting Obaseki or Philip Shaibu are involved in any illicit activities; this is purely an analogy. Consequently, the boy dropped the goat and fled, believing that his uncle was targeting his neck instead of the goat's. To summarize the tale, that's how the goat managed to escape that year, leaving the family without a Christmas goat to flex the season. So, when we mention "Goat Eye activated," we mean to say "ON GUARD." This is the current state of affairs between Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu. Yesterday during the thanksgiving service commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of Edo State, Obaseki directed his security personnel not to allow Philip to approach him. Recall that Obaseki had accused Philip of plotting a coup against him. In local terms, such individuals are labeled "saboteurs" or simply "SABO." It's noteworthy that even in a church setting, Obaseki didn't want to be near Philip. Look at the cover image and the arrow pointing to Obaseki's eyes: observe the eyes as Philip approached him. Try to discern the question racing through Obaseki's mind. In all likelihood, Obaseki's inner monologue would be, "Na me Philip dey waka come meet me so ?" ON GUARD. Despite the mounting tensions between Philip Shaibu and his superior, Obaseki, Philip maintains that his loyalty to Obaseki remains unwavering.
