Business / Re: CBN Raises Interest Rate To 15.5% To Curb Rising Inflation by olaztek(m): 9:44pm On Sep 27, 2022
To combat inflation and unemployment, we need to make more dollars as our economy is literally import-dependent.
When there's dollar scarcity, naira will lose more value as much of it will be needed to buy the available dollar (needed to import things we consume) thereby leading to higher inflation.
To solve our economic problems, we need to create more avenue to make more dollars. Shikena

Chairman, I strongly disagree on that your no 3.
U dare not try it if u are using a prepaid meter, only those on estimated billing can do that.
You're right. Those electrical devices consume lots of energy and would be too expensive for prepaid meter users.
Houses on estimated billiing are able to save a lot of money using those devices.

So what are you saying, that steady power supply should not achieved?
I'm only stating businesses that will likely go down if power become stable.
Steady power supply will surely open up new opportunities and the businesses affected by the stable supply will divest and take up this new opportunities.

List of Businesses that will perish when power become stable in Nigeria

If Nigeria is able to achieve steady power supply, a lot of manufacturing companies and SMEs will achieve tremendous growth in productivity and profitability. The improvement in productivity will lead to more employment opportunities and overall economic growth.

However, some businesses will be badly affected as they are only able to flourish due to the poor state of power in the country.
Some of these businesses are

1. Phone charging business :
This business will go into extinction in the presence of stable grid supply. The idea of phone charging business came into existence at the time when power was very inconsistent and demand for mobile phones had skyrocketed.

2. Diesel Suppliers :
Manufacturing firms and some service companies like banks purchase large quantities of diesel to power their generating set in order to carry out their daily operations.
Diesel is a huge cost producers are battling with as it add to their overall cost of production and eat deep into their profit. A steady grid supply will put many diesel suppliers out of business.

3. Cooking gas business :
This business faces decline in sales anytime the power supply is improved. Most houses will take advantage of their electric cooker/hot plate, electric kettle, boiling ring etc to take care of their cooking needs in the event of steady supply.

4. Rechargeable Lamp business :
Who need a Torchlight or a Rechargeable lamp when there's steady grid power?
In developed countries, the lamps are popularly called emergency lamps which serve as backup to provide some minutes of lighting before power is restored (when there's power outage) , unlike Africa, that they are used for everyday lighting.

5. Power generator/Plant/Solar Inverter business:
Almost every business in Nigeria has one or two power generators. The demand for these power generators is clearly due to poor grid supply in the country.
You can imagine what will happen to these businesses if Nigeria is able to achieve 24hrs power supply.

The Yorubas are Ibos largest customers, and we all know that a business without customers cannot thrive.

Phones / Re: Does The Length Of Charging Cable Affect Charging Speed by olaztek(m): 6:48pm On Sep 06, 2022
The voltage coming out of your mobile charger is usually 5v (5 voltage). The longer the charging wire, the more the milli-volt that will drop at the end of the wire due to resistance.

Cognitivereason:
inflation simply means too much money is flowing in an economy...

too much money flowing in an economy where there are less things to buy means that money losses value and the things to be bought increase in price
in order to cushion this central banks all over the world raise interest rate in order to discourage People from borrowing money to be circulated into an economy that already has an excess of it..

but Trust Nairalanders..they have no single clue of how economies works hence they are wailing even in things that glaring to understand
This your textbook economics no dey work for naija. The cbn has been manipulating the monetary policy and still, the economy is not improving.
There should be a special study into naija economics because the generally acceptable law of economics is useless in this country
