I comment my reserve except this:

1. I will tell the daddy to the gullible that if he wants to lead a revolution against book haram, he shld start with the overall president of CAN in Nigeria as well as the president of CAN in Osun State.

2. These two pastors have connections with book haram.

3. I won't be surprised if he is named as one of the sponsors of book haram itself.

Hi Aunty Yawatide,

Thank you for the review.

I agree with your suggestion. The light Blue colour makes the site dull and unappealling.

I will look for a better color or deepen the blue color.

Thank you sister. I will make the corrections.

yawa-ti-de:
Since most of what I will assume is your target audience browse the web on mobile devices and as such, have to pay for the air time, I guess it makes sense that your site is mostly text-based. Having said that, I don't think a few images here and there would hurt your site. It would make it more inviting and pleasant to the eye. I also think the light blue doesn't make the site appealing. Maybe something deeper.
Good luck!

Dr. Dre:
This is for everyone living in Qatar or planning to come over. This message has been going round

"IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THE NIGERIAN COMMUNITY IN  QATAR

The Embassy of Nigeria in the State of Qatar has been very concerned about the high rate of joblessness within the Nigerian community. The lack of employment is directly due to the work visa racket, which has resulted in an increase in crime rate being perpetuated by Nigerians here in Qatar.

In order to resolve these issues, the Embassy met with relevant Qatari Authorities at the highest level to discuss these challenges

At the meeting, the Qatari Authorities equally expressed serious concern about the aforementioned issues and are considering to assist in Job Placements (where available); help in Sponsorship Transfers; and support in Repatriation back to Nigeria for those that don’t have the required skills to work here. It is important to emphasize that this assistance (arrangement) is only available for those Nigerians currently unemployed.

Based on the outcome of the meeting, NIDO, Qatar wish to inform the concerned people of the under listed:

• That unemployed Nigerians in Qatar should visit the Embassy during the official working hours (from 9am-12noon) to register and submit copies of biodata page of their Passports, Resident Permits and other relevant documents.

• That people that have issues regarding sponsorship transfer should equally register.

• That people that are unemployed and are willing to go back to Nigeria should register to receive repatriation support (if possible) from the Qatari government.

• That the above is only applicable to Nigerians in Qatar as of December 31, 2013.

• That the compiled list will be forwarded to the relevant Qatari authorities for consideration.

• That the Qatari government has resolved to be very tough on crime.

Meanwhile, the NIDO-Qatar Executives wish to appeal to the affected people to avail themselves of this opportunity.  The Nigerian community here in Qatar has been highly regarded and respected until recently and the organisation is always ready to help within its capability.

Godfrey Awinoron

Gen. Sec.

NIDO-Qatar"

But from what I've heard, those that went there were arrested. I don't know how true it is but from what has been happening some days back, it's possible. Learnt some Nigerians had a brawl with some police officers, beating him (or them) up. Since then, they've been looking out for blacks especially Nigerians. The code now is any Nigerian found anytime beyond 10p.m gets arrested immediately and whisked to the deportation camp. Extra caution is needed now. A word as they say is enough for the wise.

Welcome to the thread, good to hear that you have read the thread, the age issue is very much on ground especially with Etihad airlines, but, you can approach Emirates airlines for sponsorship, although, you may have to go with all their conditions which includes making/booking hotel accommodation through them.

Moreover, there are several other tour agencies across the 7emirates in the UAE that can sponsor your visa applications, but, you might pay more, Emirates & Etihad airlines seems to be the cheapest as regard visa sponsorship, continue to be a student of this thread before your arrival, l am certain, if you diligently read and take notes of all the happenings on this thread, when you arrive in 3months time, you will experience a walk over in the UAE, thanks for your goodwill. Enjoy your day.

Thank you brother.

Education / ASUU Strike Latest: Fg Insincere; Strike Continues – ASUU President by oloyedejamiu: 7:51am On Dec 09, 2013
Public university lecturers on Sunday insisted that they would not return to the classrooms on Monday (today).

They also accused the Federal Government of insincerity in its bid to resolve its dispute with the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The President of ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge, confirmed this on Sunday via a Short Message Service to an enquiry by The PUNCH.

The Federal Government had through the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, deferred its earlier ultimatum to the lecturers to resume work on Monday (today) or risk being sacked. The shift was to enable them to participate in the burial of Prof. Festus Iyayi, a former president of ASUU on Saturday.

Before this , the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, had advised the striking lecturers to return to work on or before December 4 or face dismissal.

But ASUU had in a news bulletin to its chapters after its meeting in Ekpoma, Edo State on Sunday, said the Federal Government had not met its conditions for suspending the over five months’ strike.

When asked by one of our correspondents if the members of the union would go back to work today and if they had confirmed the N200bn the Federal Government claimed to have deposited in a special account at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Fagge simply replied, “No to both questions.”

ASUU had in the bulletin insisted that the government threat to sack its members would not break the union’s resolve to pursue its action to a logical conclusion.

A source privy to the meeting, said, “No Jupiter will force us to go and teach until all the agreements are documented. The Federal Government is not sincere. If indeed the authorities have agreed, why will they be afraid to document what has been agreed upon?

“Let the vice-chancellors, who can teach, go and do so. But our members are determined not to sign any attendance register tomorrow (today). The threat does not bother us, as truth will always supercede deception, lies and any form of intimidation.”

The ASUU National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, who also spoke with one of our correspondents, confirmed that the lecturers would not return to work until the government met their demands.

He said, “Our position has not changed because we are still on strike. When we met President Goodluck Jonathan, we had a number of agreements but when the Presidency communicated to us, we noticed some gaps. We have written to the government on our observations but up till now, it has not responded.

“The only response from government representatives was the accusation against us that we are making new demands. This was after the letter we wrote to the government was exposed to the whole world.

“ASUU is not asking for anything new; what we are saying is that government should perfect the documentation binding the agreement we had with it. We know the agreement we had with the government and we will stand by it.”

Aremu also accused the government of inconsistency with the shift in ultimatum, noting that it was playing politics with the death of Iyayi.

He added, “The government did not play any role in the burial of Iyayi, who died in the struggle. The Federal Government would have been more responsive instead of threatening our members with sacking. The military used this system and it did not work. Why will it work in a democratic environment? I don’t think any right thinking government will use threat to achieve peace.”

On government’s claim that it was ready to pay salaries owed the striking teachers who returned to work, Aremu said the decision was a part of the ploy not to make things work in the education sector.

He added, “This government does not want things to work at all. We wrote to the government that we noticed some gaps but instead of writing us back to clear issues, it began to use threat as a weapon. I don’t think anyone who is worth the certificate he is using as a lecturer will panic because of four months’ salaries. You only treat casual workers in such way and not people with intellectual endowment. ASUU members are not casual workers so the position of Okojie will not shake us.”

The Chairman of the University of Abuja chapter, Dr. Clement Chup, also described the threat as “an empty one.”

He said, “We are still waiting for the government to respond to our letter; until that is done, the strike continues.

“When the December 4 deadline was given, I said ‘I dey laugh because I knew it would not work.’ Now that they have extended it, ‘I still dey laugh’ because it will still not work. Because you (Federal Government) are not ready to honour an agreement and you will begin to threaten people with sacking; it doesn’t work that way.”

His Nasarawa State University, Keffi, counterpart, Dr. Theophilus Lagi, said, “It is only the National Executive Council of the ASUU that could take the decision to suspend the strike.”

He said lecturers in the school would stay away from the classrooms since the NEC of ASUU had yet to suspend the strike.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe and Okojie , had last Tuesday, claimed that the Federal Government had deposited the N200bn promised as funding to universities in an account with the CBN.

The amount is for renewal of infrastructure in the nation’s public universities.

But the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Education, Simeon Nwakaudu, expressed optimism that many lecturers would resume work today.

He said, “By tomorrow (today), we will know where we go from there. Let us wait and see what happens. Many ASUU members have contacted their respective vice-chancellors and indicated their readiness to work.”

Meanwhile, the Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Chris Uyot, on Sunday, said the leadership of the NLC would hold a crucial meeting with the leaders of ASUU on Monday (today).

Education / ASUU Strike: FG Under Pressure To Rescind Sack Threat by oloyedejamiu: 5:40pm On Dec 07, 2013
The federal government is currently under intense pressure to rescind its threat to sack university teachers who may refuse to resume work across the nation, next Monday, as it has directed. Saturday Mirror reliably gathered from a top official within the Federal Ministry of Education, yesterday, that some prominent Nigerians have been speaking with the Presidency not to carry out the threat.

The source who pleaded anonymity said that one of those talking to the Presidency over the threat is an opinion leader from the Niger Delta area of the country. The opinion leader, the source said, warned that any attempt to carry out the threat would only escalate the tension that had continued to build over the demand of the lecturers.

He said a similar opinion was held by some lecturers who had spoken with the ministry over the issue. He said the example of University of Ilorin where 49 lecturers were sacked during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2001, was cited, arguing that “the action may result in litigation, which the court may validate or not.”

He added that the lecturers further argued that their colleagues who are bent on continuing the strike would have no choice but to also resume when they see others beginning work.

Said the source: “Prominent Nigerians have been appealing to us to rescind the decision in the interest of peace in the sector. If you conduct public opinion poll in the country, you will see that more people support the sack threat because Nigerians are tired of the strike.

I am telling you that some of the university teachers have been saying we should not effect the sack since some of the universities are already resuming, believing their colleagues would be forced to go back into classrooms.”

The official however kept mum over the applicability of International Labour Act and Convention which protects labour during industrial actions. Supervising Minister of Education, Barr. Nyeson Wike, had, a forthnight ago ordered the lecturers back to class, failure of which, he said, they would be sacked on December 4.

He also directed management of respective institutions to, among others, announce vacancies of whoever flouted the directive.

Perhaps a deliberate attempt to allow ASUU more time to meet its members and also bury their former president, Festus Iyayi, who died in a road accident when the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, rammed into his Sports Utility Vehicle about a month ago, or a guise to veil the ineffectuality of its threat, the federal government extended the take-off date for its threat to Monday, December 9.

The media have been awash with calls on both ASUU and the federal government to sheath their swords in the interest of the students of various universities affected by the strike.
