Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 8:29am On May 04, 2009
Good morning folks.

How was the long weekend. Hope y'all enjoyed it. We pray and hope this week brings with it loads of blessing.

Godeagle:

@ opensesame, did u mean they can reject one even after inviting one for medicals?
No, what I meant was that they could still send regret mails to A & B, while sending meds to C & D. As in, it doesn't necessarily follow that once meds start, there are no more regret mails. Anyways, we pray that we will be C & D o!
And on the side, yes, there have been rare cases where XYZ gets a regret mail after meds; obviously cos he has health issues that Shell thinks will not allow him perform optimally. very rare cases, though. Usually, you are as good as in after meds.

daveinyang:

guys and ladies pls can anyone enlighten me on how to apply for a job in shell.am presently working with a telecoms company and i wish to make a change.tanx wink
Hey Dave. Sorry about the delay. You can't blame us. Right now we are so caught up in the 'medicals fever' (no pun intended)
Okay, to ur question. Usually, Shell publishes its Technical graduate vacancies in most national dailies. Last year, it was around this time. This year, em, I can't say, because even we are not in yet, u kno what i'm sayin?
But, keep ur ears and eyes open, network, and when it's time, you will definitely know of it. Did I forget to mention NAIRALAND? You can never miss it if you pop in here often. All the best.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 6:39pm On May 01, 2009
hmmm. nice. We've got more folks in the house. Welcome aboard guys. The more the merrier. Yeah, I used to see you guys in naijahotjobs. It's all good. Meds next week, right? That's kool, except I've learnt not to keep my expectations too high. I would hate to be disappointed by friday next week, if there's nothin (hopefully there will be though).

And nkenke is right! The regret mails cud still fly after meds (we pray say dem go fly pass us o), but wotever happens, we should take it as God's will. I always emphasise this because I really think it's important that we Realise that God disposes.
Cheers guys.

EasyT:

Let me help opensesame to welcome jibzgal to d thread.
grin grin grin
EasyT, You are so funny. Yeah jibzgal, welcome to the fold.
To your question;
last set, they started getting letter for meds around Jan 17 (lasted for a few weeks), Offer letters around Feb 4 and SITP started on April 1st.
That's almost 3 months from meds to Edjeba!!
Well, I have a gut feelin this time it won't take that much time. I hope it doesn't, but if it does, no sweat sha!!
Hope that answered your question, jibzgal. Where and when did u do your SRD?
Cheers

@douecho.
Wot's up now? That's true o! Where is Ranbaxy and co. At this time, it would be really nice to have them bigger boys around, you know? While we are waiting, they could give us SITP gist. Wait, otr you get connection for that side now, abi. Oya, sharp sharp fish them out jare. . . lol!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 10:01am On Apr 30, 2009
Hey guys! How's the morning going?

Me I'm looking forward to another long weekend.

EasyT:

As regards the number of persons that wrote the test,I thing it was a lot more than 4500.Somebody told me that 16,000+ wrote the last one in 2007.I guess 2008 would have been in the same range.

hmm. I was thinkin the same too. Whao! That's quite a number.

Godeagle:

It is possible they got the medical invite out of error on Shell's part, initially, which was later recalled.
They may have been too embarassed to tell us what happened. (Just thinking aloud)

Hmm. That's true. Coulda been the case. You know, I was (& still am)just so disappointed that they could do that, esp girlrachy. But, with this point of view, I'm sure I can say, on behalf of the house, we will completely 4give them if they just come back and explain things.

Osina wata:

@Opensesame, u know say i like u shey? welcome back,
@All lets keep the spirit up, Me i know say i don enter already, if u wan know who i be wen u enter lets block at SITP Felowship

Osina wata puru oganranya of the whoooooole nairaland grin grin . Thanks man. That's the spirit I'm talkin about. SITP Fellowship abi? Lets gooooo there!!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 5:21pm On Apr 29, 2009
my brova. e no easy, but wetin we go do now? We've waited for more than 6 months now, a few more weeks won't kill now, abi?

wumwum wots up? How is it at your end now?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 4:19pm On Apr 29, 2009
Hey Babake,

em. . . 4500? I dunno, I think they were a lot more sha.

And according to Ranbaxy (a guy from the last set), they were 95, (12 Geologists, 81 Engineers, 1 Maths grad and 1 Physics grad.)
I'm usually not bothered about the number of people they want to take because I believe that even if they want to take only 20, our names go join!!!
So, dude, claim it o!!!!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 3:40pm On Apr 29, 2009
Speaking of which, sorry for taking us back, but does anyone know how many people did the test!
I have always wondered, partly due to plain curiosity and partly to REALLY APPRECIATE God's blessing in my life (not that I don't over-appreciate him of course).
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 3:33pm On Apr 29, 2009
otr:

@all, dis last saturday was a great day as I attended the wedding of two of the just outgone SITPs dat got wedded to each other.
awww. That's so sweet! otr, it seems you know quite a lot of the last batch folks. By the grace of God, we will soon be one of them. Mos def!!

Godeagle:

When I went for the SRD, I didn't pray to get into Shell; I prayed for God's will to be done.

Word!!!!

EasyT:

Welcome back, opensesame.U seem to always take the weekends off the page.Abi as u no dey office for weekend,no access to free browsing(just joking!)
grin grin grin
Actually, you are partially right. I no get internet 4 house o. Another reason is that I'm usually too tired to go to a cybercafe after the week's stress (traffic and all) so I just use that chance to take a break from the internet and computers as a whole.

EasyT:

Ofcourse I know you didn't/cannot/must not get the regret mail.
Thanks a lot man. Same to everyone on this thread. We'll definitely meet there.

douecho:

The house is quiet because everybody don talk the one wey de their mind finish.na only to wait now.and nothing to say while waitng.abi we wan use this time discuss Niger delta issues?
Anythin wey we wan talk to keep this thread alive, we go talk, abi?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 11:10am On Apr 27, 2009
Hey guys.

Sorry, I’ve been missing in action. It’s good to be back!! Thanks a lot, you guys, for your concern. No, I did not get the regret mail . . . lol!.Even if I did (olorun maje ooo  smiley), I’ll still hang with y’all.
That said, I honestly don’t have any inside info (sorry), but, I still insist that the solution to our concerns is PATIENCE!!
From past experience (not mine) I have discovered that the status on shell’s site is not necessarily updated. For instance, after the test, if you went there, you’ll probably still see shortlisted. This may make you believe you’ve been shortlisted for the interview, not knowing, it’s the test you were shortlisted for. Basically, it could confuse you.So, I have made up my mind not to check  it. Besides, whatever it says, I’ll still get a mail from them. So, why not wait!!
As for the alleged medical letters, (sigh), like EasyT said, I don’t want to believe that girlrachy and pradok would deceive us! I can’t think of any good reason (any one at all) why they would do that. But their continued silence is obviously what’s making us doubt the credibility of their mails.
Anyways, after all said, the main INFO I have today is still what I have always been preaching. . . . PATIENCE!!!

Cheers y’all.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 9:28am On Apr 24, 2009
Hey People

Yesterday was a fantastic day, wasn't it? Our first medicals letter.

Girlrachy, congrats once again!! I'm so happy for you. But you still haven't given us the full gist! angry angry smiley smiley

Okay, now this is the period where most of us get extra anxious. Cos, one person has got, we get worried if we havent got yet! Let's relax and act like girlrachy didnt say anything, aight? No need to get too anxious.
I declare that we will all get our medicals!!
But it could be a question of time. Like it has been mentioned severally, shell sends out mails in batches!
Take care guys.
Music/Radio / Re: Contradiction By Modenine by opensesame: 9:04am On Apr 24, 2009
Why are we talking about 'contradiction' like it just came out. That track is so old!!

It's kool sha. If you haven't listened to it, it's kinda silly sayin it's wack!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 4:22pm On Apr 23, 2009
Girlrachy. . . . CONGRATULATIONS!!!! cheesy cheesy

I think from your silence, this is real. I bet you are somewhere celebrating now. I am so happy for you. cheesy cheesy
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, when you're through with the jollification, come and give us the full gist, aight?

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Shell Nigeria - The Next Generation by opensesame: 7:39pm On Apr 22, 2009
Hey guys

Been a while. I've been watchin' silently. Didn't want to comment on recent happenings, but I was tempted.

@all
Okay, so we thought we would start receiving mails by tuesday, right? Well, I know that we are anxious, but it is not likely that we will start gettin' the good news until, possibly, weeks after they are through with SRD entirely. So, for the umpeenth time, I'll say, let's just relax.

@osina wata angry angry angry angry cool cool

@otr
Okay, it's only natural to be curious as to how much you'll be earning. Yes, we will see it in our offer letter, but it's only human to want to know. EVERYBODY wants to know. I do!! That doesnt mean we are not placing our priorities right.
But, I understand you didn't mean any harm. You just think we shouldn't dwell on it. That's kool! wink wink

@douecho
So, otr didn't mean to come out as harsh, aight? We're kool right? wink wink

Peace y'all

Opensesame, if yahoo is actually blocked till 6, you better stay off nairaland so you dont keep getting updates without being able to check you e-mail.i think the tension will distract you and make your day at work one-kind.

well, now that he missed the chance, we're still flatmates. wink wink

EasyT:

I'm sure a lot of people would be so anxious & apprehensive today, checking their e-mails every minute.I confess I'll be one of them.
Where I work, yahoomail is blocked from 8 to 6, so, thankfully, I wont be one of them. smiley smiley
Truth is, I dont even expect any mail soon. Shell sends out mails in batches. So just chill.

Godeagle:

Oh my, now I am more concerned than ever before. I also did mine in Warri. I Never knew that they had not sent any
