Politics / Re: Gas Explosion At Iyana Isashi, Lagos - Residents Burnt Alive (Video) by Originalsly: 2:04pm On Feb 07
It's sad that our leaders travel abroad .... see so much ... but never try to implement anything that will help in our development or make improvements in various areas. When there is an accident or mishap ... there is always an investigation to get to the cause and measures taken to prevent a repeat. They have learned to zone areas .... residential .... nothing like a gas plant can be in such a community. From a comment earlier ... this is a new gas plant .... in a residential area ... who authorized it ? ... who certified it safe? We don't investigate ... we just commiserate with the victims and their families ... and pray it never happens again.... then keep it moving. How can we ever move forward?

Fashola... VP of the Marketers Association.... said he was aware of the queues .... did not find out why .... because he is not in Lagos ... but jumped to the conclusion that it was caused by panic buying. I still insist a military coup is needed .... such leaders rounded up and .........the needful done.

Why is this always the only option? Roadside sellers removed ... they become bandits. Trained and experienced soldier fired. he can't be a body guard. can't enter security.... can't get a job .... can't start a business.... he must be a robber or kidnapper. Why are we do narrow minded ?

@topic . He needed to be locked up. Military personnel do not have freedom of speech rights like civilians. The extra is what got him where he is ... posting photo in uniform.

It was still in this very Lagos that Sanwolu went to Oshodi to warn them him self, they tried to barricade the area, still did not work.
What else do you want the govt to do. Mr know it all.

The footages are here on NL

This is what happens when there is a weak government.... one that can't enforce the law. It always result in lawlessness. If they are collecting fees for selling there then it is hypocritical to ask them to move.If not ... the warning to move is just a courtesy. He just needed to give a deadline and confiscate all goods after . Nothing special about Lagosians.... same will happen in other major cities .... the reason it doesn't is excuse of enforcement.
Politics / Re: Sanwo-olu Wants Construction Of 4th Mainland Bridge To Commence March by Originalsly: 12:18pm On Feb 06
Hmmm .... you don't have the money ... you don't know who to get it from ... but what you know is the bridge must be built before you leave office ... your legacy above everything else. What happens when someone is desperate? ... guys desperate for money go to loan sharks ... who make it available but under verrrry tough conditions and highhh interests.... but they a certain because they are desperate .... then be crying and complaining later. No difference here ..... except Lagosians will be left to feel the pain.

Lagos being prostituted for the sake of one man's legacy.

Is this how they will put an end to this? ... 7 months or N65 000 fine? ... a fine they can extort in one day? ... why not 7 months? How can they have respect for the law when the law is weak and law enforcers are weaker?

After all these findings .... how many prosecutions? ... how many convictions? .... how many imprisonment? And we wonder why there is no end in sight to looting by a few and sufferings by many.

Why this can't be true? Why wouldn't foreign companies not want to come and cart out our minerals? ... the more they invest the better for them especially with the corrupt governments we keep electing. Foreign Invstments can be good ..... but before we can shout good development and raising hope that things will be better we need to know the terms of the contract ... what do we as a country have to gain... is it fair. and does that trekkle down to us the masses..... will it be used for the development of the country.... to improve our lives. Doesn't the Congo have minerals as well? ... didn't they have and continue to have FDI (Foreign Direct Investment)? ... and don't they have a government with similar mentality like ours? ... how strong is their currency?.... how much has the standard of living improved? We need to chew before swallowing.

Romance / Re: Who Will Marry The Beautiful Nigerian Women In The UK? by Originalsly: 4:05am On Feb 05
Hmmm ... who will not? Is the writer suggesting they don't get married? ... if they want to? From my perspective ... it would be more difficult for her to get married to a Nigerian man who has problems shaking loose some cultural shackles. Such a man will not opt to marry because she is older than him .... never mind by three months ... the fact remains that she is older ; ... will not marry a haunty .... she's over 31 years old ; .... will not marry because she is earning more than he ; ... will not marry because he can't dominate her like he can if in Nigeria or he can speedily end up behind bars. The Nigerian men who have long freed themselves from these shackles are the ones who would marry and have married most of these beautiful Nigerian women. Then some of the remaining are scooped up by non Nigerians. The few ones remaining on the shelf with no one in sight to dust them off and take them down permanently are the ones overloaded with ego .... the ones that think the man worth being their husband was either not born yet or is yet to cross their path ... the ones that were abused and downtrodden in previous relationships by beasts parading as men ... and are still very fearful of men ... all men are dogs ..... the ones that have plunged into and fully immersed themselves into the Miss Independent cultures of the land..... and last but not at all the least ..... the ones with attitudes... beautiful ... great job .. money in the bank ... but absolutely no home training.

In these times .... foreign exchange scarcity.... loans to begin repaying.... $1 B to for attack helicopters. Weren't helicopters bought before for the same purpose? Foreign Affairs / Re: Houthis Threaten To Cut Intercontinental Internet Cables Running Along Red Sea. by Originalsly: 1:47pm On Feb 04
All of this is because of the genocide in Gaza. Israel is in violation of soo many UN mandates .... but yet champion of human rights is supporting them. Over a hundred days in Gaza .... with the latest and best in military technology and weapons ... and yet can't defeat the "terrorists" that they had all fenced in and control of. US spent 20 years in open Afghanistan before quitting. Why would one think they can do same in Yemen? Now the US is rushing to form a task force to protect the cables ... can they? Why not rush to reign in Israel and bring peace? Sooo many of us are so brainwashed that we cannot think for ourselves .... we act as if we don't have a brain to process information ... we simply loudly repeat what we are told.... cannot defend what we say.

Religion / Re: Is It Bad To Locate A Church In A Prostitution Hotspot? by Originalsly: 1:07pm On Feb 04
So hypocritical ..... some complained of having to cope with the scantily dressed women..... and photos to illustrate how these women dress. What's the difference with how these women dress ... and some that attend church on a regular .... same short dresses ... sitting in front pew ... legs crossed?

On the point of location .... who was at the location first? ... can't locate a church in a Red Light area then complain about the prostitutes roaming the streets. Did Jesus complain when he found out prostitute was around?
Religion / Re: Is It Acceptable To Withhold Tithes If I Disagree With The Pastor? by Originalsly: 12:52pm On Feb 04
Do you even read your Bible? ... if not how will you know what you should do or not do? ... what the pastor should do or not do? ... and regarding tithes.... what was the purpose of tithes? ... how can you be giving tithes and not know its purpose? If I ask you to give me N1000 every month .... would you just give? ... or would you find out what it will be used for?

To give or not to give .... ask yourself ......does your church be helping the poor and destitute?... or the pastor and family to live better life? If it is to upgrade the pastor and family then it is better to give the "tithe" to anyone in need.

The man is shot in the leg .... all that is said about saving his life is rushing him to hospital. Is it that no one tried to do anything to stop the bleeding? ... even if they didn't want to use their fine clothing to make bandage.... couldn't the host provide cloth to strap the wound?

I really believe this was a set up and the man allowed to bleed to death. Why would the host order shots to be fired into the air? ... after a meeting? ... why was the hunter there at a private meeting?.... and prepared to fire shots when given the command "release"? ... and this specially selected hunter on this special occasion fired down instead of up? The host needed to be arrested and so should the hunter .... both grilled separately and then the truth will come out.

Replace Nysc with a one-year paid skill building program so that if graduates can't get a job, they at least have a skill to start a business.

Skills like sewing, plumbing, welding, Agricultural farming, auto mechanic, video editing, graphic design

NYSC shouldn't be scrapped ... it needs to serve its purpose. Absolutely... the FG needs to invest in making skill building institutions such as the ones you mentioned... but after graduation... they need to serve time in NYSC exercising their skills .... not graduating as a plumber and serving time as a kindergarten school teacher.

@ topic ... blowing smoke in our eyes while this is all about creating another avenue to loot. He is saying to empower the youths ... what about the youths of today who already have the skills? Business / Re: Nigeria Devalues Naira In Bid To Attract Foreign Investors - Financial Times by Originalsly: 5:19am On Feb 02

This is what Reno posted.

The Naira is a reflection of the Nigerian. Look, the Central Bank of Nigeria just paid a billion dollars to foreign airlines. Those are airlines flying the same route as Air Peace. Do you know that if you and I, as Nigerians, had flown Air Peace instead of foreign airlines, that $1 billion would have stayed and circulated in Nigeria? And when dollars and pounds stay in Nigeria, the Naira rises in power. If they leave Nigeria, our Naira goes lower and lower.

The Central Bank had to cough up $200 million to pay for human hair, as if God did not give our women hair. This is hair that Indian, Bangladeshi, and Southeast Asian women cut and dedicate to their temples. They then barely process the hair and label them Brazilian, European and Peruvian hair, and our women rush to buy them, wear them, and shake the hair angrily to accuse Tinubu of ruining the economy. If I were Tinubu, I would ban the importation of human hair. Fact-check this, as a nation, Nigeria spends more on human hair than on books.

The Naira is now our collective responsibility. When you go to Quilox to spend ₦5 million on Moët, Louis XIII Cognac, and Glenfiddich, then post your receipt on social media, you are putting downward pressure on the Naira.

Containers on the high seas coming to Nigeria with things we can produce in Nigeria are killing the Naira. There is no magic wand. If we don't band together to stand together and buy made in Nigeria, the Naira will continue to go asunder!

#TableShaker

100% on point. Anything else is putting plaster on the sore. People need to face reality... the Naira will continue to depreciate and the cost of living will continue to rise ... salaries will have less and less buying power... price of imports will go through the roof ... we will be forced to embrace local production and consumption. I was expecting the FG to ban like fish and tomato paste and rice and hair .... or place like a 100% duty on such items.
