Listed all your kids that are still under your custody/minor and your wife also your dependents. They will also ask who of your dependents that is traveling with you? Then you can mention those who are traveling with you including your wife.

Thank you for this .

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate. Please if I want to travel by march can I apply now and also this opening balance of a thing I don't understand as when I tried to download statement from my current account I saw opening balance in minus. Also I have current account which is my salary account and most times I always do own transfer to my savings account. Please should I transfer the amount I will spend for the trip to the savings account and print the two account statement for savings and current. The current shows the originality where the money come from and it will indicate ABC staff payment . Also have another payment advice that will say exactly what the money is for. But on the statement it will just say ABC staff payment . Please kindly reply me . Have applied for visa before and have been granted and even traveled to uk. Also after that time I got rejected because I didnt explain lump sum . Also within that time my job changed from my own personal self employed to government job. I also have landed property for rent as additional financial income which I have documents to back everything up. Thank you

Good morning. Mention the amount you are paid and when you are paid in the additional information section.

If you can, highlight the lump sum you are paid in your statement of account.

I hope this helps.

Maybe a check popped up an info inimical to the application speedily after the interview or even the handiwork of the VO's supervisors, pretty hope this was not correct though. As for the date thing, that's normal, "created and ready for interview" mostly happen within the last 48hrs to interview even if your DS160 form was submitted up to 6 months ago. And the "last updated" keeps to timing with subsequent happenings. No mix-up methinks.... Regards
what am even surprised was that no single document was asked and only passport was retain and its not even upto upto 20 mins before the stuffs changed. And please what's the meaning of dependent false on appointment confirmation. Thank you
Please omobendel and others. My wife applied for a birthing visa just now. The vo gave her white paper without collecting any document except passport and says it's on administrative processing. That if they need anything they will let her know. I tried to check the status of the visa at ceau. And saw it has been refused. What is now baffling me is that the date the case was created was 10th of January and when it was last updated was 11 th of January which is today. And my appointment is just today not quite long. Please is there any mixup or what??

I was at the embassy yesterday for my interview 2nd one, had one in December and was denied which I suspected was based on the cheap bills thing they claim though the bills I gave them for hospital I intended to use was about $10k. I went prepared this time with a bill of about $15k and just wen the VO asked my bill, I mentioned it's abt 15k dollars. He looked at me and asked if I had the quotes, I brought out the document . He went through it pointing the hospital bill is $9k and for complications, i told him we are preparing for tje worst scenario considering my past experience. Doctor's fee is 3k and quotes for paed , lab, neonatal was scattered here and there and if added up actually sums up to that. It was quite a long session. He asked for bank statement, I presented hubby statement (sponsor) a statement of 7mil there about. He typed on the system for sometime and then slipped the blue paper to me with inaudible words. I asked why I am being denied, he said he can't really say more. I requested to know if he needed to view more document as we have even made a part payment and I have been scheduled for appointment in February but he declined. I told him that i really don't want to take chances with this pregnancy hence my travel after trying for so long with several failures after my first child who is 6years now. He said he is sorry but i can try another country. Frankly, not a single soul was offered d white slip before I got interviewed ystday. It was like they planned it ahead, students were denied after talking and explaining heaven and Earth, even the elderly, I watched an old woman being denied who was to travel to help her daughter that had a baby and a whole lot of others. Was hopeful that mine will be different especially when I had positive n valid documents to support everything he asked for, even travel experience but At Las, I was still not granted d visa. It's now so late I don't know if I can still get d Canadian visa before I become unfit for travel as I was meant to travel latest 1st week of February as am due first wk of March. Those wit Canadian visa, would u encourage me to still try or just chill and have my baby here. Am so worked up...

Guess you have forgotten how the thing goes, the high risk pregnancy was the first childbirth. It was vacation we wanna go for that she was denied and that same day my own drop box was approved. The vo saw all previous receipts and was satisfied. She was just 2months pregnant and the vo asked if she is having more babies in the states in the future. Which she answered yes. I guessed because all of us going at the same time with the Americans. Seems she is talking about ties. Now she will be going for childbirth proper. Using the same hospital we used in the previous birth. The first visa she used was b1/b2. That time I was doing my masters and wanted to come for my convocation but had accident and she used it after one year 3 months for childbirth. Though the change of intent was there, and she didn't even do dropbox, she scheduled an interview directly.

It depends on the reason they gave for the denial. I remember she told the VO it's a high risk pregnancy. That's a red flag. With that you need to show that you have enough fund to foot bill of a high risk pregnancy especially if the cost skyrockets. You also need to get Dr's appointment/ correspondence before you go for the interview again. My personal opinion please. Good luck bro. See you in January if you are Texas-bound.

Hello my people,

LONG POST ALERT!!!

Weldone and thanks to everyone keeping this thread alive

I don dey read this thread for the past two weeks (from page 1 oh), in fact the page is permanently opened on my browser and i just keep reading in my spare time plus taking a lot of screenshots for future reference grin grin
Like someone said, this thread should be a taking and also giving back thread (Not only taking without sharing your experience), I will start sharing my experience as it goes and will keep on updating as I progress on this journey.

In 2015 I applied for US tourist visa and got a 2year entry. At POE in US told CBP i was also going to have my baby in the US along with the vacation. Baby came, all bills paid got zero balance from doctor and hospital. Fast forward to 2017, myself and hubby wanted to renew the visa, VO said why didnt we declare in the first interview that we wanted to have baby in the US. Told the VO that the initial VO who interviewed us did not ask any question on that and the plan was only to visit. He would have any of our story. Long story short, he denied us the visa.

Then I decided to try the Canada route. Read this forum like crazy to understand how to go about the application especially when you have been denied a US visa. After a lot of reading and digesting, myself and hubby summoned courage to apply for the TR visa. Plan was that we would travel for a visit in December as a tourist and then use that opportunity to see if we could scout for a doc/Gynae/settle accommodation plans etc and then next year when baby is due will travel for child birth. We submitted the application (via Paper route) went to VFS to submit all the requested supporting docs. This was on 22nd Oct. Exactly 10 calendar days after submitting the application, hubby got a call from the Canada embassy. Basically he was asked for the reason why we were refused a US visa. He then clearly explained to the Canadian VO that we were not no sufficient ties back home. He also mentioned that we had our baby there as well but all the bills were paid in full. Apparently the Canadian embassy had also called the US embassy people to find out why we were not given the visa but they did not give any convincing answer to the Canadian embassy hence the reason the Canadian embassy called us to find out further. Also during the convo, the Canadian VO then asked my husband if I was currently pregnant. My husband said yes and that we plan to also have the baby there next year but the reason for the initial visit was for tourism. The Canadian VO was like it is not illegal or a crime to go to Canada to give birth. If you have sufficient fund to cover it, you would most likely be given. They even called my husband’s company HR manager to confirm if salary certificate which we provided was correct (no be small thing).

Long story short, he told us to send receipts of our medical bills in the US as well as the refusal document which was received from US embassy. We sent all the details to him and even put the US hospital and doctor’s contact info to call them if they have any doubts. Exactly one week after sending all the details, we received a mail from the Canadian embassy to come and drop our passports. Got our passports back today. Mine stamped Multiple entry till 2021 hubby till 2019 as passport expires in 2019.

My peace of mind is that I have clearly declared to the VO that I would be giving birth so I no get fear for POE issues.
In my opinion, Canada Embassy processes your VISA in a fairer manner than US. They take time to review your documents properly and then make a decision based on that. But US ehn, its like before you even show up at the embassy, they have already made a decision without checking your docs..

Now unto the next stage of preparation, Accommodation /OB GYN/Hospital to use. As I no get family for Canada, Ontario will be my best bet as I can see from people’s review on this thread that it seems to be a relatively less expensive to birth there. I will start contacting the hospitals and docs now.

@Hotstepper, please help a sister out. How can you assist with accommodation options available and which city do you recommend I stay in (Brampton or Toronto)? Which is easier to move around in? Do you have anyone I can contact in arranging accommodation for a 2 month period. Also I have contacts of Dr Ayodele and Dr Abou of Brampton hospital and I have the Dr Grace contact of humber river. I just need to understand if I should call the doctor first or the hospital first or do I have to first get a Family Doctor who will then refer me to the hospital/Doctor. As I don’t have family doctor, please help if you can refer me to someone. Thanks a lot and look forward to your feedback.

Any other preggy mama bound for Ontario around April/May 2018 who doesn’t mind sharing accommodation? I need to plan this waka well in advance.

Thanks a lot to everyone and wishing every mama out there a safe one!!!
please when you were filling the form online . Please the place where you they wrote if you have been refused visa in Canada or any other country . Please did you indicate you have been refused in usa ??

Thank you boss. But I hope the next vo will be lenient. Then I want to ask another question. As her appointment is January 21 and he Edd is early march. Can she apply for expedited appointment against December with all doctors correspondence and bank statements. Or what do you think. And hope the vo wont raise eye on now applying for B2 because for my own view , she can't apply for B2 when she is just 2 to 3 months , and when we are using the visa for vacation . But the vo asked her if she wanna give birth to more babies in the us in the future which she answered yes to. Even the last trip she declared she wanna give birth at the poe. And when I was applying for b1b2 after my F1 expires. I told the vo that I want to help me wife that wanna give birth. What do you think or view. Thanks for your time

Good day bro. I will advise you have your old DS160 form with you when filling another form so that all info tallies. Since you mention your cousin in the first form ,you may still do same now and emphasize that she will stay with him till you join her for the delivery. Again you can add your BofA account balance with your Nigerian Bank(s) balance as part of your cash. Wherever it's coming from; yours or your wife's, add everything because you need to show this time that you are ready for any eventuality as per hospital bills since you had already mentioned that your wife's pregnancy is high risk. It means if all your proposed expenses is 18K in your budget sheet, ensure you have account balances of like 28K. I wish you all the very best in the next interview.

. Thank you so much I really appreciates. I want to ask if I can use my Bank of America statements with my nigeria own . As well with my wife own. Then she will be staying with my distance cousin till I come. That's how we did it last time. My mother Inlaw and her went. They stay one month at that my distance cousins place then when I come I rented 2bedroom for the remaining month. Which is just 5minutes drive to the hospital. In the filling of the DS160 should I put the name of my cousins as contact address or the hospital or the apartment we will be using . Note that the name of that my cousin was in the last ds160.

Sorry about your wife's visa refusal and congratulations on yours. Let me outline the probable points I see from all your writeup so far that perhaps led to the refusal:

1. Whenever you are interviewing and you mention high risk pregnancy or complicated pregnancy, the next thing VO will be looking at is your budget sheet. You need to have enough Miscellaneous(like having more than $10K extra) just in case of any unexpected medical bills which can skyrocket because of any small complications in the US.

2. I think they prefer the husband to travel with their pregnant wife especially if there is no relative in the US. So when the husband does not have US Visa covering the period of birthing or the husband just did drop box or about to do drop box, they either put your wife's application on administrative processing or some VO do outright refusal. So always ensure you have renewed your own US Visa through drop box or otherwise before going for your wife's interview (Talking from experience).

3. Maybe the VO didn't think it through to realize that your wife was not pregnant when the first visa was given. About ties leaving your son or taking him with you , I don't think changes the ties. Ties refers to either close relative at home and/or your high paying job. Being a CBN senior staff is enough tie to Nigeria (especially if the VO sees your total annual emoluments).

I wish you and your wife best of luck in the next interview. Please read the threads well and incorporate good advice from this thread into your next interview preparation.

Nah. I was speaking in your defence. Summary of what I've been saying is, I don't believe using the Visa for medical(Change of intent) was what resulted in the refusal.

You can reapply if you have spare cash and time to do so. You may find out more about why her application is being refused or you'll get it the second time around. Either way it will put your mind to rest that you tried your best.
Thank you so much, really appreciates your contribution , I have schedule another appointment for Lagos by january. I was fortunate to get the appointment date because what I was seeing in Lagos was march. And her EDD is in march. She will be using the same hospital she used during the first one. In which we paid all bills almost 16k in Baltimore Maryland. Then my son wont be following her. Then I will be with her during the delivery Gods grace. I just got my Dropbox renewal issued on that same day she was refused since September 3rd. She was refused on 25th. The vo asked her if we gotten visa and she told her that i did Dropbox. And his son is a citizen. I think she now checked my name and asked her that where I am and she said I am in Nigeria. Then vo now said I did my masters in the USA. My wife said yes that it was my graduation she wanted to go when she had an accident. The vo asked if our son is our first child and she answers yes but not first pregnancy as she has previously lost two due to High risk. she asked again if she plans to have more babies in the USA and my wife said yes if she is granted visa. The vo types for a very long time and said although she paid all her medical bills but am sorry you didn't meet the requirement for the visa you are applying for.

This is not the first time someone has used the change of intent letter. Some are successful when trying to renew their Visa while others were not. Concealing a pregnancy during the interview plays a huge role in the outcome of the Visa renewal.
Guess you are mixing something up. The time she applied for B1B2 she was not pregnant at all. She just want to come for my graduation in the United States which she couldn't make it because she had an accident which is true. It was like after 7 months she got pregnant. She used the visa 1yr3months after.

I vividly remember that I told the vo that I want to witness the birth of my wife. I finished masters in the United States in July and left in September 2015 and still have valid visa till July 2016. When the visa expired that was when I had to schedule another interview because of the F1. And I was granted when I said I want to help my wife in delivery. We paid all fees. Spent a month and my wife spent 2. Without any outstanding bills. The vo said to my wife that although she paid all medical bills. And she even asked if she would have more babies in the future which she said yes due to her medical history(high risk). So am thinking maybe by December /January she can apply for B2. Using that same hospital we used. And collect all correspondence from doctor there and here too about her medical history records. And this time our son wont be following and I will also go and meet her when it's time for delivery.

My opinion is that bank jobs are among the least stable in Nigeria. Inspite of this a lot of Bankers got US Visa's because it is a respectable profession. Only for them to bring disrespect to themselves by abusing their Visa's.
With 5 months to the major elections, this type of government job may not also be seen as stable. Even foreign stock investors have pulled out their monies ahead of the 2019 elections.
You could try again if you like.
. NothingDoMe. It's not a commercial bank but a central bank. Which me and you know it's stable. Or what do you think?

OmoBendel24:
. My Boss(omobendel24) we actually want to use the visa for vacation because even when she applied for the application she is just 4 weeks. And she will be due in march next year. It's not possible to apply for childbirth visa now and the go asked her if she want to have more babies in the US in the future. She didn't lie she said Yes. If actually been given the B1/B2. We wanna use it for vacation and even she will tell the vo she will take medicals but not on this trip. I told you my own Dropbox have been approved. That same day she was refused.

Your points are valid and quite understandable I must say. But I don't think ties was the real issue with her application, this is not somebody going to the US for the first time, this is someone that has gone there and came back, someone that got a US visa and didn't even rush to use it or so to say, that used their facility and services (note though, that if there was a deliberate shortchanging of the system that is not due her visa category, there will be consequences), paid for it and exited.

The issue here, I think, has more to do with the visa usage (gotten for a purpose different from the birthing purpose it was now finally FIRST USED for), previous interview notes taken and of course the VO in question too, that's if the transcript is correct. Even though the hubby informed them officially of the birthing plan (which should have helped and may/can still help her case) and obtained a visa on it, I doubt if these interview notes got a syncing, that's where the issue is most likely.

She's only getting punished for the way she used the visa and is likely planning to use this next visa again, other things seem to be checking right IMO sha....

CC: @Phakabir06

NB; I can even see that you guys plan more to use the visa applied for this time for birthing mostly, the VO too may have noticed this. That means you must first show a clear-cut and appealing remorse for the usage of the first visa, which in itself is difficult. Then you must come out plainly on your intentions to birth again in the US and go through the visa process (B2 proper) thereto, this too may be a hard nut to crack now depending on the disposition and discretion of the next VO because a noticeable "ojoro don dey dis una second waka process already so".

Her Medical history was high risk pregnancy even the one we gave birth to in the states last 2 years. But this time we wont be going with our son. So that it will be part of ties. Please what do you see to it. And we will be using the same hospital we used . All correspondence will be sent from doctor and hospital. Please advise

If you have been on AP since over a week now on a dropbox application, the likelihood of them calling you in for an interview is pretty high but not compulsory. Kindly put up a standard transcript of your wife's interview today, let different people with experience take a deep look.

I think too from your write-up that you also told them of your wife going to give birth during your last interview, which should have counted for something if you actually did. The only clear "offense" by your wife for now is that she didn't use the visa first for the purpose for which it was issued before going for the birthing. That of course is taking preeminence right now over all the ties one can ever see she has....

I'm also reading here on the thread where someone is asking for the address to send "change of intent letter" to, in this time and age with the US embassy in Nigeria (that acts like wounded lions oh! You may just be devoured sharply during renewal of visa ni oh)? Hopefully she has used her visa for what it was approved for sha.

I read the transcript and i couldn't point to anything except her occupation. First thing that came to my mind is banker. Then i read previous posts by you and saw that shes a supervisor at CBN.
. Yes a Senior Supervisor. It's a rank to Assistant Manager.
