2023 Is fast approaching, many politicians who think they are relevant now will end up becoming political prostitutes, jumping from one party to another, they will be reduced to nothing, but the commissioner didn't do well.

See....ehn, the only people been reduced to nothing is us the masses. These politicians will forever regroup and when they are not there, their cronies will do their biddings. The political space has been rigged against the common man so much that they will continue to recycle themselves in power.

Even with stark poverty, high unemployment, insecurity issues and all....the common man will still vote for these set of people again and again esp. when they've dangle N5000 in his face. Our problems are deep and it is of great advantage to the current political order that the larger society remain shackled.

The only solution to our problems is to make politics less lucrative. Once our politics is not lucrative, we will gradually start getting people with genuine interest to serve into governance. For now, 99% of people in politics are there for the money. It is the No.1 paying job in the country.

There is no doubt that some local contractors use substandard material, that doesn't mean that all indigenous contractors are the same, if he the governor avoids awarding contracts to political cronies then your unwise umbrella statement will baseless.

Perhaps he wanted to intimidate Juluis Berger to Roger him and the tactics failed. Anyway don't really know what actually happened but Gov Wike has a good track record for projects

Bye bye Mr commissioner .

A very big lie coming from Gov wike, the true story is that Gov wike wasn't comfortable with the commissioner talking about the soot in Rivers State and had to call the commissioner mid way into the press conference talking about the soot in the state.bbc, the guardian, punch and many other news media we're there on Tuesday at the state judiciary complex

Wike should thread with ease... Rivers people are not lazy, we know why he uses Julius berger. We have local contractors who are worthy of doing projects and are hard working and sincere instead his avaricious intent with Berger to swindle hardworking Rivers youths have led him to forget standard. Very greedy man
In as much as I dislike wike, does this thing you typed make sense? Does it? Wike is getting work done with Julius Berger. What you just want is an avenue to swindle the government and leave work undone under the pretext of "awa money", "awa oyel".

my brother I did not actually dispute the capacity of Julius Berger, but at least those smaller road should be given to the indigenous contractors who have capacity. As for the blue collar job he has conclusively worked with the aforementioned company to slash their pay, that's one of the reason for agitation by both he's just sacked commissioner igbiks tamuno

What you said is not in all cases!
Immediately you have job description, you don't need approval to perform your job except where is either expressly or emphatically stated approval needs to be sort and granted!

It's like State internal revenue chairman or FIRS issuing a tax query to a company and the C-in-C now sack the chairman for doing is job! Imagine issuing NNPC a tax query and PMB saying 'do you want NNPC to increase fuel price or stop selling our crude! Oponu 'Govs' plenty for this country!

In fact, the Governor supposed to be proud of the commissioner for the action taken but the 'emperorism' in him saw it as belittling him!

ecomalchemist:
So many of us are inexperienced and may not have even worked before. Whether you agree or not he deserved to be sacked. I know ordinarily, when you get two queries, it leads to warning and subsequently suspension before a sack but this case is quite different because he acted as the Chief Executive of the state. You must get the approval of your boss and let him buy into the reason why you want them to stop work. In an organisation, a manager doesn't have the same power and authority like an Executive Director let alone the Managing Director. If the commissioner had worked in a very organised setting in the past, he would have known how things are done. You must get your boss's approval in writing or let him minute on your memo before taking action, and that approval memo must be kept for future reference.

He would have circulated a photocopy of the said letter. It sounds rather crazy that a commissioner will wake up and write such a letter.

my bro, no be like that... we both want good quality work done and secondly, I'm not a friend to swindle.
Do you think Julius Berger is a saint, let government create an agency that will strictly look out for standard materials to be used for construction of road by the local contractors... I tell you, there are organizations who have clear intent in working. I know we have had bad experience but how do we promote our own, I tell not all aba product are bad in fact a lot are good.

What's the essence of oversight, to inspect and know if quality standard is not followed.
