51 Million Nigerians Enroll For NIN - Pantami

More than 51million Nigerians have now been enrolled for the National Identity Number (NIN).

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, during the weekly ministerial briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team, at the presidential villa, Abuja.

He said registration for NIN is not optional, but a mandate by law, warning that failure to enroll precludes defaulting citizens and residents from operating certain functions like using banks and communication services.

He also warned that failure to obtain the NIN could lead to between seven or 14 years imprisonment as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution, no one should enjoy government services without the number.

He said rather than population census that can be manipulated, NIN will determine the accurate number of Nigerians because of its uniqueness and tamper-proof.

He also disclosed that about 189 million Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) have been registered in the country, explaining that 150 million, out of this number, are completed registration while the remainder have problems of improper registration.

He said the improper registration has posed a challenge that government is currently dealing with.

I know there are many Nigerians below the age 18 and those in remote areas who have not registered. Having said that, if we double the number of people that have been registered, 102m, it gives us a fair estimate of the population of Nigeria.

Remember, our voters register has 82m. Voter turnout last time was less than 30m.

That 200m estimated population of Nigeria is grossly far from the actual

wow!!!

So only 51million people out of 189 million sim users has registered.
That means we plenty wey never register.

So failure to register for NIN will lead to 14yrs imprisonment but Boko Haram terrorist group are being granted amnesty and being sent on scholarship abroad, may anything like Buhari never rise again to rule this country.

Make I go prepare for my Kuje prison 14yrs tenure since I never register

Attach punishment to the right people and things that matter, like a life sentence or outright killing of corrupt politicians, you're here saying nonsense.

Most phones have good fingerprint technology, why not leverage that to make the capture process easy? People are going through hell to make ends meet, and when you make out time from your extremely busy schedule to register for this thing, you get frustrated in the process.

Nonsense and Buhari

Useless country.
I remembered when I went to a local council office to register, I was told to come back July, this happened on February.
And the deadline was supposed to be April 6.
The iranu worker told me to bring 6k for them to run it immediately....
