I dont know if this would make FP..

Just this morning we read on "FP" Bawa, the EFCC Chairman announced that over 400 internet fraudsters were caught in just the month on March. If that does not ring a bell, it should.

Now we are not going to dwell on the Government or the problems of unemployment, or the politicians and corrupt officers etc, we are going to dwell on the individual as a person.

Most fraudsters, especially Nigerian fraudsters have given up all hope on paid employment or business setups, or even naturing ideas. For the graduates amongst them, their CVs have become redundant and outdated aswell, which might be the reason some have decided to go all out on it being a "do or die affair"dabbling into rituals, ritual soaps, tortoise, calabash etc..

Now I most times wonder, what ever happens to the majority that dont eventually make it big, or the "one hit wonders", are you going to keep living your life on hope on expectation someone falls for your scam?.. people are getting wiser each day and internet securities are getting extremely tougher.

A lot of companies have set up forced email change every 1 week or 2 weeks, some have authorized their banks to confirm every transaction whatsoever, some dating profiles have put up posters of "Never send money to anyone", some middlemen run away with funds that manage to escape the system, some funds are tracked down to Nigeria while "Benefits" issuance has tightened up. BTC investments ponzi schemes require so much capital to earn the system trust.

Now majority with their CVs being almost useless, while they have learnt no trade or business what next in the later years of life?

Most cannot grow or manage a business as small wins are too minute to the kind of lifestyle they have been exposed to or want to live.

For migration and relocation, most countries are going the way of "CRC scoring" thereby seiving out the right Individuals as even ordinary BSC holders find it really hard meeting up the "cut off" talk more one with no work history, experience etc.

I was with one the other day and I mentioned what I earn from my business, which is extremely comfortable and can only get better (IJN), he told me "won't you like to make like N100m at once and expand your business".. I smiled and told him, what if i dont after all the inputs?...

And then the question goes.. what next if the life of scam never pays?....

I forsee a future that the crime rate would be so terrible, with most going suicidal, becoming extremists etc...

Interesting.

But the problem with Nigeria is that we like majoring in minors... Prioritising nonsense while ignoring the elephant in the room.

Leave yahoo boys. They would evolve and adapt quickly. The unsuccessful ones would evolve and adapt, find a way to blend in.

Our major concern should be with the banditry/kidnapping epidemic originating from the North, currently ravaging the entire country.. a problem that will surely bring the country to its knees in the next few years (worse than Somalia).

At least yahoo boys are exposed, enlightened and cosmopolitan to a reasonable extent. There's a limit to the kinds of antisocial activities they can undertake on a grand scale. We're talking about totally uneducated, unexposed and primitive abokki almajiri semi-animals, in their millions upon millions, who now increasingly see that banditry and kidnapping is the avenue to riches and success.

What happens to "unsuccessful" bandits who don't make it? More appropriately, what happens to the unlucky victims of such unsuccessful Northern animals? That should be a more worrying question.

A potential yahoo boy victim who refuses to pay loses nothing. A banditry/kidnapping victim who refuses to pay loses his life. Both categories of criminals are unsuccessful. But at what price? At whose detriment?

Picture that.

Esseite let me tell you the truth, if the government does not support small and medium scale businesses well, encourage talents and skills then the problem may get worst. Mind you those arrested by Efcc may likely gain their freedom in no distant time. Efcc is a weak entity to start with

Another reason why “yahoo” is common in Nigeria is because the society celebrates the fraudsters. Musicians release songs hailing them. Mothers and pastors pray for them. Hotels and clubs accord them VIP treatment. Girls flock around them. In fact, it’s as if they are on top of the world. A woman who sells recharge cards once commented that she sees nothing wrong with what the boys are doing because they patronize her business very well. She is not the only one with such opinion. Many are OK with what the boys are doing because the boys are moving from armed robbery to internet fraud. As long as people in the society are not being harmed by the boys, everybody is fine with the situation on ground.

We write about it, because most tend to lure innocent young ones while making them feel less of themselves in their legit way of life, and ending up following a path that most times fail 90% despite the energy, time, resources invested.

Moreover the onus is on us to complain because the menace it would eventually cause would have us all suffering. Some of us are always secluded anytime we present our Nigerian passport.

Very thoughtful. It's getting outta hand already, they're turning to kidnappers, armed robbers.

In a decade to come it'll be WORSE than this if it should continue this way

Before now, bank robbery was becoming a thing of the past. Its gradually coming back again in full force. Efcc will arrest these boys ,seize everything and release them after six months in jail. And the stupid efcc expects them no to venture into worst crimes. This country no fit better jare. Look at the idiots that are already coming out as candidate for presidential election ahead. About improving security, till 100years to come. Yahoo boys/scammers will keep on finding new ways to dupe people.

Another bitter truth is that most legit hustlers who deal on exotic stuffs like cars, designer and expensive wears, interior decorations e.t.c have been making massive sells recently because scammers now patronize them.

These scammers are in some way bringing in what our politicians are stacking abroad.

But sha, say no to SCAM.

Nonsense!

You're just another yahoo sympathizer or probably a full fledged yahoo boy. There are 200 million people in Nigeria and enough of them are focusing on Boko Haram, banditry and kidnapping already. We have our peculiar issues and a southerner as you being bothered about banditry and Boko Haram over yahoo is surprising. There is absolutely nothing wrong is putting yahoo under the beamlight as well.

It would interest you to know there are a lot of uneducated folks in Nigeria and some educated ones as well fall prey to these yahoo boys day and night. They swindle people of their life savings and render many useless forever.

Every single day, enough news of banditry and insurgency graces the homepage. We cannot allow other vices dominate us because we are at war with others.

You catch someone for malpractice and a fool would remind you of politicians stealing monies. Does that exonorate malpractice?

I understand you're a beneficiary of the proceeds of yahoo but don't ever again downplay its effect on even your fellow countrymen, who may never recover from your nefarious activities, by comparing it to banditry.
