For those who failed in blogging, tell me your story. The first person to respond with a story and link to his blog gets 5k.

Blogging is something that I find very difficult. As a professional writer, I had the thought that blogging would be a piece of cake for me (lol).

I started my first blog newsflow.com now http://oreogist..com (because domain name got expired) on entertainment niche but after some time I became tired of everything because I wasn't having traffic. I even sold out the AdSense associated with the blog (I paid someone to help approve it).

My last post on the blog was updated Dec. 2019. I stopped blogging and continued freelance writing for clients. Then I later picked up interest again to start another blog https://www.opinions.com.ng/ . I settled down to craft out content I posted on the blog but still the same traffic issue.

I later discovered that I really need to understand what blogging is all about before I venture into it. The worse part is that I've paid two tutors to teach me how to blog but I guess I fell into wrong hands. This is why I'm skeptical to pay any online guru to teach me how to blog. They only tell you the normal things you see online.

What I really need now is someone that can teach me how to blog especially ranking my content (lemme gather money first lol)

I'm currently writing as a freelancer but still hoping to come back to blogging (once I have sufficient resources for it though).

I now use https://www.opinions.com.ng/ as my portfolio to direct clients to content I've written. This has a way of giving a freelance writer better credibility online.

So this is the long and short story of my blogging career grin grin

if oreogist dot com has expired, it's historical whois data should be found. But that's not the case. Is that link correct?

It iis http://oreogist..com/ not oreogist.com

The main domains I used are Godwingist.com and newsflow.com which were linked to that domain.

If I may ask, how long did you manage your site before concluding its not bringing traffic..

Then blogging needs quality good contents, back links to rank better in google. Good for you, you are a writer.. You can improve your writing with SEMrush, for keyword research, you can use MOZ pro and longtail keywords..

Your site needs a good seo guru to help index your site..

You are getting it already, I love your spirit.

Going through your blog I can see that you are still competing with some high ranking players in your industry for the below blog post I chose to talk about.

Like now there is a post on "How to file for a Divorce in Nigeria" there is no way you can rank on first page as at now but there is possibility of ranking first page as you GROW in trust and authority.

I quickly ran a check on the Google and saw this keyword
*Divorce settlement in Nigeria" you will noticed that only one blog post talks about this in details while the rest are talking about property settlement.

If you can caption your blog post, you will receive good traffic soon

Re: For Those Who Failed In Blogging by Pennyseo2: 12:04pm On May 15, 2021
Now ahrefs says this keyword is having 20 search volume monthly. They aren't actually right as this might give you 400 monthly searches or even more...

We could see others that rank in same term.

"property settlement in divorce cases in nigeria" 10 search volumes
"settlement of property after divorce in nigeria" 10 search volume
Plus others
You could add this below in the post to make the post longer and also give it a nice subheadings.

Making the whole post 800 to 1000 word length.

Bottom line is that you will easily rank for "divorce settlement in Nigeria" as against "How to file for a Divorce in Nigeria" but this ranking won't come today tomorrow it will come in 7 or 8 months time or even longer. Hence you keep putting in more low content that no one is taking about.

You need like 300 to 500 post to see sizeable traffic to guarantee you good earnings.

Remember that this your blog will only rank or feature very well for Nigerian search quarries.

So stop posting what Nigerians are not interested about and focus on Nigerian search term.
