Thank you dear STENON.

I will take your suggestion. But I fear the market will be oversaturated with English teachers. What do you think? And what are the chances of gaining a job (leading to Tier 2 visa and ultimately ILR) with the QTS award?

My initial plan was to come study MSc Social Research and then go on to conduct academic research at the PhD level. I already got admission for that. But I also love teaching, especially in the classroom. And someone mooted the idea of the QTS to me. I'm about to start applying for that. Can you point me towards some universities that offer PGCE with QTS? I've seen a couple, like Reading, Coventry, and Kingston. I'd like to see if there are others as well.

Thank you again

Hello, I stumbled on your post and thought to give a sincere advice as a current PGCE student in UK. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO STUDY PGCE SECONDARY ENGLISH, IT IS HARD TO GET A JOB.
I have colleagues in Secondary English really scouting for jobs. Like you said that department is saturated. You may look at PGCE primary instead, if you want settlement.
PS. I study secondary mathematics and already got a job for September.

1.What PGDE subject are you applying for? Is it Primary or secondary Teaching? It is a postgraduate course not an undergraduate course so your dependant should be able to come with you.

2. Yes and No. E.g Mathematics has higher job prospects than Enonomics undecided
Hello STENON, about 1 year ago you gave me an advice concerning my sister, you adviced she runs a pgd in education and get registered with TRCN.. she is rounding up her PgD and registration with TRCN in 2 months, she has about 10 years experience in Education and studied Computer science/Maths in her Bachelor’s but just been promoted to the role of Head Teacher for a very good school. please what do you advise as the next step towards actualizing her dream to move to the Uk, Thanks and hope to read your response

It depends on how long she has worked in the UK. Below would be the requirement for SMP

you work for your employer in the 15th week before your baby is due and have worked for them for at least 26 weeks before that (you can find your dates by entering your due date below)
your average pay, before tax, is at least £120 a week

You miss in action ó...... Nah brexit or covid21 hibernate you........ grin

Hello Guys, please can someone confirm if a postgraduate student can work full time during this easter break? I have also asked the int. office at my school, no answer yet. I have perused the T4 Visa rules and regulations and I think one can do so outside the term time which is from 29th March to 16th April 2021.

I would still like to get your input to put all doubts to rest. Thank you.

hi @here
I have an interesting problem and I need some help in figuring out the best thing to do.

I am a Nigerian with a Nigerian passport that expires on 14th of April
I have a return flight back to the UK on the 13th of April
I have a BRP that doesn't expire for another 3 years.

I have already applied for a new passport at the Ikoyi office about 3 weeks ago and they are saying the issue is with printing the passport.
I have called my airline and they said that they will allow me to board since my passport is still active.

Do you think it is safe for me to try to get on that flight?

1. Go to your school website ( probably on your student portal)

2. Check the ‘term dates’ as per your school calendar.

3. If the dates you want to work > 20 h/week are outside of your official school term dates, then you are good to go.

I hope this helps. Any more questions? Ask.

Its more expensive than passport and it one time use instead of passport that can be used multiple times and 5 years...
