It would be good if all these bandits go to jail....or get killed...but let's be honest, at some point, we would have to offer some form of amnesty to these bandits.

Now before you all abuse me, let me tell you about a guy from Liberia named General Butt N'KD. This guy was responsible for the deaths of 20000 people, and confessed to canibalisim, and actual human sacrifice. Where is he now? Free...and wandering around. A pastor even. He got rehab and got free.

At some point, we have to offer rehab for these bandits, Boko, IPOB, millitants, etc...whether Nigeria splits or remains united. We offered ammnesty for Niger Delta millitants, who I should remind you blew up pipelines, stole our oil money for themselves, and engaged in kidnapping, and even killing. Today, most of them are free and walking around. Personally, I think they should be in jail. But they aren't..and most, not all, are in 'honest professions'

Same for these bandits. Either we offer them some form of rehab and reintegration, or we jail them and harden them the more, or we kill them and raise the possibility of unending revenge cycle. For me, I would put these people in a jail in the Sahara, with limited water and food, and with roofless cells, so that they can spend the rest of their misreable lives rotting in the hot sun and dust. But this world is not perfect. The General Butt N'KDs of this world are many. Sadly we can't get rid of all of them...so rehab, and hope that at least for 60% of them it would change them, and we can worry about the remaining 40%. But kill them, or jail them...and we risk rasing a new generaltion of mad terrorists....(at least we can jail the unrepeantant ones...no one would complain.,...they offered you amnesty, you behaved like a stiff necked person)

Welcome to planet earth. I don't like living here sometimes.
I bet to disagree with you completely by comparing the current bandits, Fulani heldsmen and Boko Haram to the Niger Delta agitators. The latter clearly had an ideology and fought for their right.
The whole Niger Delta people wanted a fair share from revenue accruing from the sell of oil, and I think this was reasonable enough... Those boy just fronted the agitation of the Niger Delta people.
Come to think of, do you really consider what that region pass through because of the present of crude oil? do you realize how difficult it is to get portable water in the region courtesy of crude oil? Do you consider the challenges they face in agricultural cultivation of the land because of crude? Do you realize how much it cost to construct a kilometer of road in that region compare to the Northern region, all because of crude? Sure, they have the oil but the oil comes with it perculier challenges.
The challenges are quite many and they fought the government to look into those. The responsible government of former president Yar' Adua did responded good by given back a little of the proceeds from the sell of crude to the Niger Delta people and the rest is history.
Now you tell me what is the ideology of the bandits, Fulani heldsmen and Boko Haram? What are they fighting for? What is their grievance with the government? Where are they cheated. Which of their assets or resources is the Nigerian government taking from them or making money from that the government is not giving them a little back?

These 4 bastards have caused unceasing pains to families and friends of the people they killed during their time in the Northern lucrative business, (Banditry) and without any doubt, they've trained their replacement to continue the business while they go into retirement.

As usual, the Northern Governors will throw a big party at the banquet hall in their honor for a "Job well done" and the special guest of honor will be the notorious Sheikh Gummi who has been a very "diligent" middleman in all these rubbish.

Now take a look at those assorted guns on the floor and tell me if those poor bastards can afford it...

We never had it this bad under the peaceful administration of GEJ.

May God punish Fredrick "Lord" Luggard"

Rather, God should punish those who forced Buhari on us...

During a brief ceremony today April 8, the ex-bandit leaders surrendered 45 rustled cattle, two General Purpose machine guns, 24 AK 47 assault rifles, 109 GMPG ammunition, 95 7.62MM Live Ammunition, among others. It is however not clear if they were granted amnesty by the state government.

Do these people think all of us are stupid? How can those who are sponsoring the bandits tell us that they have surrendered and turned in their weapons? I bet you the same government that collected the weapons would turn around and give them back to a new group of bandits for their use for a year or two and then announce that they have turned a new leaf. It's nothing but a SCAM! If you know you know!

Nigerian Military Invade Benue Community, Kill Over 30 Villagers, Set Ablaze Monarch Palace, 200 Houses

At least 50 unarmed civilians have been allegedly killed by military men in Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State following reports that two soldiers were missing in the community, multiple sources told SaharaReporters on Thursday.

SaharaReporters gathered that the soldiers went missing during a routine patrol in the community days after a communal crisis between towns in Konshisha and Oju LGAs.

According to reports, three soldiers were initially missing but one of them was later found.

It was learnt that troops of the Operation Whirl-Stroke (OPWS) on Wednesday and Thursday morning invaded the community.

The operation, which involved deployment of military helicopters using missile launchers, left scores of unarmed civilians dead and property said to worth billions of naira destroyed.

About 200 houses including the palace of Tyoor Unaha Kôkô in Agidi and several cars in village, which is now deserted were set ablaze by the soldiers.

Narrating the dastard act to SaharaReporters, a youth leader said, “We have lost over 50 unarmed civilians, more than five of my family members have been killed by the Nigerian Army. There are no bandits in Shangev-Tiev, a military General in Makurdi is using the Army to support his tribe in an age-long war over boundary demarcation.

“For over 3 days now, unarmed civilians have come under Nigeria military attack non-stop. Fulanis controlling the Armed Forces of Nigeria are assisting their numerous footsoldiers mobilised by Miyetti Allah in terrorising the civilians.

“They keep killing and destroying properties. How can you use fighter jet on harmless and armless citizens while negotiating ransom with bandit and terrorists?

“As we talk now, most residents have deserted their homes and are taking refuge at Tse- Agbaragba.”

Another resident asked the government to redeploy the soldiers ravaging the community to the various highways where the Boko Haram and herdsmen are presently terrorising and killing Nigerians.

He said, “Its quite sad amidst insecurity in other parts of Benue, Konshisha will be targeted by security personnels. My village has been reduced to ashes for no reason. This is not a Boko Haram. There is massive destruction and killing spree going on. The aged, women and children are not left out, among those killed and displaced. What human sense would warrant such attack and destruction?

“For days now, our people have been under flames, displaced and are massacred.“

Another resident said, “My grandfather's house is in ruins, I hear. 2001, the Army burnt my fathers village and murdered my people. 20 years later, the Army is burning down my mothers home. 20 years after Zaki Biam, the Army has returned to Benue in the same fashion. This is not the way to go.”

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has pledged to return peace to Konshisha and Oju while briefing journalists after an expanded Security Council Meeting with stakeholders from the two local government areas.

Ortom, who reiterated the need for Benue people to support security agents deployed to end crisis in their areas, admonished the people against attacks on security agents, which would make the situation extremely difficult to contain.

He explained that as part of measures to nip the land dispute between Konshisha and Oju in the bud, it was agreed that the boundary be demarcated and a day was fixed for the exercise.

According to the governor, a few days to the agreed date, crisis erupted again and security agents were deployed to control its escalation when the troops sent to Konshisha came under attack with two military personnel still missing.

Ortom condemned the practice of some communities engaging militia to fight their neighbours. He, however, vowed that such merchants of violence would be made to face the consequences of their actions

Ok.

This is the simple logic;

✓Be a bandit for minimum of two years, with robust earnings from ransom on successful kidnapping.

✓Surrender your weapons and seek for amnesty.

✓prominent people take photoshoot with you and host parties for you.

✓You will be eligible for trips to Dubai and other Aran countries.

✓All sponsored from the tax payers' money.

The house should sponsor a bill; "Budget for renumeration of Banditory and kidnapping"... would probably have to be incorporated into the annual National Budget of the FRN.

The life of a bandit in Nigeria is a smooth ride, as long as Buhari is the president.

Who would not want to be a bandit in Nigeria?

I can bet with you they won't have their full benefit. They didn't pass through the right channel, they need to involve the minister for banditry and other kidnapping matters

It's apparent these 'bandits' have links with Boko Haram.

Otherwise, why would regular robbers and kidnappers carry guns like a GPMG that you can't hang on your shoulders.

At a time banditry and kidnapping have become so lucrative and easy to get away with, why would these guys surrender?

Why did they chose to surrender to the state government and how did they surrender?

Won't this move be buying their unrepentant colleagues / boys some time, since same seems to justify Gumi's case for dialogue?

Lastly, has this got anything to do with Buhari's instruction that he wants leaders of bandits identified within a 'few' weeks?

I'm just wondering but I might be wrong.

In other words, you think the Northerners should not get our oil money.

I have no issue with that...however, most ND millitants were in it for their pocket, not for the benefit of the wider region. And they also committed crimes like kidnapping and killing too.

The thing is, at some point, we are going to beat Boko Haram, banidits, etc. We cannot jail all the footsoldiers. So, we either find a way of rehabbing them, or we just kill them all, or jail them all...and create more injustice...and more anger.

One more thing....I am not exactly pro-North or pro-South. My problem with all of you Nigerians is that you think your economy is one big cake that needs to be shared. It isn't. And the sooner we all get productive, the less we would see of all this violence.
