The winner of BBNaija Season 4, Mercy Eke, is not happy with the claims in some quarters that a man is responsible for her success.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, the reality star said, “In this part of the world, people believe a man is behind the success of a woman, whether she is married or single. I work hard for everything I own today. When people say a man is behind these things, I find it appalling. However, it does not get to me anymore because what else would one say? It only shows that my success is visible.”

When a fan asked her about the state of her relationship with Ike Onyema, she said, “Break up happened. We are done. That ship sank a long time ago. I am in a happy place and he is good as well. Stop flooding my timeline with this silly question; we are over. So, let’s just keep it moving.”

Eke also stated that the fear of failure makes her stronger. She said, “My biggest fear in life is failure. I don’t want to fail and go back to the streets. I don’t want to roast corn anymore. I just want to keep doing what I know how to do best. God has blessed me. The fear of failure makes me stronger. I want to be a better person. I want today to be better than yesterday. That is why no matter what is thrown at me, I would never stop growing. I would never stop establishing myself and I would never stop dreaming,”

According to the former BBN contestant, she sometimes forgets that she is a celebrity. She added, “I worked hard for this fame and I won’t let the fame get to me. Sometimes, I even forget that I am a celebrity. I drive myself and do things a normal person does.”

She worked "harder harder" for everything she owned today

A man mustn't be behind every olosho's success.. he can be on top, spooning or she herself can be on top

Let it be known to whom it may concern that this statement is bore out of guilt on the path of mercy, that mercy eke's success is obviously connected with loads and loads of men courtesy of a certain hole in-between her legs, and this her post is just her way of struggling to prevent her jobless fans from tagging her with a certain farm tool...This I have seen.

... "don't want to roast corn anymore..." grin

But this statement is quite painful... when other countries' young women can look forward to rewarding careers, most Nigerian women are destined to roast corn or somesuch to make ends meet...
