Your cgpa is attractive. It will definitely fetch you admission offers.

Apply for a course you did as an undergrad.

God help us!
thanks very much bro!

A friend also had 3.48cgpa/5.0 with a 3 years professional certificate related to his first degree and the intending master degree

Please does he have any chance?

Thanks!

There's hope. Professional certs are not really asked. It depends on what the said school requested.

As you said, the proposed MSC programme is akin to what he did as an undergrad. He should scale through. Someone that had a 2.95 cgpa got accepted last month. Baba dey JP now lol

Tell him to apply to numerous schools.

Skól!

Good day all. I just got admission into UiS for masters in City and regional planning. I actually wanted to study construction management but that was the only course available that is related to my first degree (Architecture). Pls gurus in d house, what's the job prospect for international students after this degree
congratulations bro!

Please i and my friend plan to apply to same school and course, we both studied Geography and planning as degree

My CGPA is 4. 20/5
His own is 3.48

Please what's our chances to be considered for admission?

Does our course related or match with city and Regional Planning?

Thanks in anticipation!

No to the PGD result, as it's the bachelor's degree that matters when applying for masters.
As for his 2.7 CGPA, this translates to a 3rd class, and most Norwegian universities ask for a Grade "C" at least, so it will be difficult to gain admission with it. He may try some schools, especially with non- competitive courses, but I personally wouldn't bank on it. Just being realistic.

Let others weigh in.
please what's the chances of someone with 3.48 cgpa?

Oslo demands for ielts; if you've it, then no problem.

Most schools in Norway require standardized English tests. He can't run away from it.

thanks for your input

But is there a reason why we should opted for human Geography instead of the initial course we intend to put in for

Do you also consider the course prospects in relation to job opportunities?

Thanks!

When it comes to Geography brother.. the most reliable and dependent job prospects lies on GIS.(I know you already have an idea what that means).
Another path is to find your way through academia.. (lecturing and all).

Oga start preparing for an English test... Most applications are rejected based on inability to provide English test score ..

Even if they don't reject it, your admission might be conditional pending when you make your test score available.. that's for Norway.

Write Toefle or IELTS.. even if u get 6.5 it's better.

Sorry about my typos earlier, I prefer TOEFL cos it is cheaper and most universities worldwide accept it.

I'm confused where are you getting your information from? Most universities in Norway exempt Nigerian students(except one isn't here) from writing the standardized tests... I do know that University of Oslo requires it of us, but a majority don't...
Please let's be careful about the information spread here. I'll also advice everyone perform due diligence by doing further research.

I only know of two schools that painstakingly exempt Nigerians from taking English test

University of Stavanger and university of Toronso

You can share any other schools you know doesn't required English test

No oo! You need to check each school's requirements before drawing such conclusion. There are far more schools that exempt Nigeria from English test aside UIT and UIS you mentioned. NTNU and UIB are also in the list and I'm sure there are more.

Yes. In my experience, University of Agder, Kristiansand and Nord University, Bodo don't need Nigerians to determine their English proficiency. They have a list of their requirements that can be downloaded from their website showing all the countries and what is required of them...

Got an email from university of Bergen today as well but it’s stated as an offer on a waiting list. I don’t really understand this and I’m asked to accept the waiting list offer before May 7th

Hi guys.

Please when do these universities in Norway start their admission process?

I checked UiB, and it seems admission is not on currently.

I just joined this thread.

from my own understanding, it means that should anyone offered admission on a priority list decline, you might be considered next

The application usually starts around Nov. It is best you get the necessary documents ready before then. Goodluck
