The top European clubs want to break out of the UEFA Champions League and create their own new competition called the European super League. The excuse is that UEFA pays only a fraction of money earned from the UCL to these top clubs, so the club owners and chairmen are looking for every way possible to maximize profits and the biggest way through this is the broadcasting rights. If the top teams leave, the smaller ones will suffer.

And of course where they'll make a lot more money than they normally do in the Champions League.

I don't see this breakaway super league working, it will generate controversies, journalist will write, media will publish, sport analyst will debate, meetings will be held across Europe and even in Africa (even though it's none of our business) but it won't work out. This I have seen.

Ticket sales is nowhere near as significant as Merchandise sales or TV rights deal when it comes to revenue for football clubs.

The Super League is clearly bully tactics and an obvious attempt at shutting out small clubs who continue to give the so called big boys a run for their money.
