I almost did. Best thing is to leave your accommodation earlier even if it means galavanting at the airport.
Use google map/uber to check ETA too. Lastly be prepared to walk instead of getting dropped at the entrance. In early January a few years ago, we spent about 30+ mins driving in the airport itself.

Me didn't miss my flight but something happened that makes me hate lagos traffic.

On 26th December 2019, I took my friend from Sango to board a plan going to Benin. Then dropped him like 30mims to take off time and drive back immediately cos I have somewhere I'm going.

You can't believe that when I tried to enquiry from friend after 1hr if their plane don't delay, dude tell me he's in benin already and is on his way home meanwhile I just got to Ijaye

Due to my laziness. Na so my 30k go.

In other news
I made this small tool that lets you start a chat with any WhatsApp user without saving their number to your address book.

How it works

Goto the link: https://buildbrothers.com/start-whatsapp/

Type in or paste the phone number of the person you wish to chat with.

Update 30/03/2021
I have added a little feature for group admins. You can now add members to your group without having to save their contact first.

This feature simply provides you with a User Interface to enter the group link and number of the new user you wish to add. Once you hit the start button, WhatsApp will be launched with an invite message pre-filled and the user's profile opened.

The tool still collects Zero private data and I am committed to keeping it that way. Want to buy me suya? we can arrange it. Cheers!!!!

Use case

Maybe you find the phone number of a vendor offering a service here on Nairaland, you can simply copy the number, go to the link and start a chat straight. This will help you go straight to business and you will only have to save the number when you feel it is necessary. Cheers!!!

Yeah, on several occasions en route Port Harcourt, the cost of rescheduling was in the moon, I just switch to Owerri at a moderate cost and finished it from there.

Wahala too much for Lagos. Missing a flight in Lagos is for the uninitiated. Leaving home several hours earlier is the safest bet. It's better to avoid stories that way.

I made the mistake of not coming down and taking a bike. I ended up arriving 5 minutes after the gate had closed and paid an extra 13k for a booking on the next flight which was just an hour away

That one no be wahala... You quickly mail them or call their customer care for a reschedule, and be ready to pay $150 to $300. For Etihad, Emirates or Qatar airways depending on the class

Almost.

Had a Lagos - Abuja flight on a Monday afternoon for a meeting at 4pm in Abuja same day. Left VI at 12pm to get to the airport before 2pm. Smooth sailing from VI to 3rd mainland to Maryland bridge. All of a sudden, mad traffic from Maryland all the way to the airport, we managed to move like a snail to 1/2 kilometres (to the Arik wing), 10 mins to departure, we got down and started running with our suits, on a hot afternoon. Even my Oyinbo boss became Usain Bolt. Baba breezed past me!

We were lucky. We already checked in online, we just rushed to the gate, and some of the guys there congratulated us. We did not miss the flight!

Why did we run, we could have booked another flight? We were going for a meeting to close a massive deal. 5 mins delay would have done a big damage.

Another one, my colleague missed his flight to Jo’burg from Lagos. Traffic wanted to kill us, but we arrived at the airport on time. Only for my colleague to find out that he forgot his passport at home. He raced back (using a bike from the airport to Lekki and back to the airport). Unfortunately, he missed the flight, we saw him running towards the gate, the pilots said ‘No, we move’. He joined us in Jo’burg the following day.
