Nigeria has overtaken the Democratic Republic of Congo with 25 percent of people without access to electricity, making it the country globally with the highest number of citizens that lack access to power.

This was revealed by the World Bank Group officials during a virtual engagement with power reporters in Abuja on the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PSRP).

"Nigeria now has the largest number of unelectrified people globally and the trend is worsening; of the electrified, the supply is very unreliable with widespread blackouts,” said a presentation from the group.

It stated that electrification, which was growing at 1.1% yearly since 2010, has not kept pace with the population growth of 3% yearly. This has increased the deficit by 3 million people to 85m which is 57% of the population.

“Nigeria now has 25% more unelectrified people than the 2nd most unelectrified country (DRC – in absolute terms).”

What a disgusting sh1thole. Always coming last in anything good but always comes first in anything bad!!

Breaking up this contraption is what every right thinking person should be aiming for now!

We definitely can't continue like this or else it will get to a point where we will kill each other to the last man standing.

If you still support one Nigeria then you're worse than the devil. Breaking up Nigeria will make life better for all, at least killings and destruction will certainly reduce to the barest minimum.

This kind of news is synonymous to this present government.

Always overtaking for all the wrong reasons....SMH
Very Clueless Present and Past Leadership we've been unfortunate to have had.
Yet some online urchins still have the nerves to support them in their incompetence!!!

We need a paradigm shift come 2023 we must vote in youths with visionary capabilities!
My attached pictures says it all to all those online Nitwits that still hail the past & present APC Clueless leadership.

We Mooove.

Buhari wouldn’t take the blame only. All past Presidents and Heads of State are fully responsible for this show of shame.

Nigeria is doomed!!

Any ranking position that involves corruption, disorganization, undemocratic, terrorism, unstable power supply, inhumane, suffering, poverty, segregation, genocide, religion intolerance, draconian law, infrastructure decay, nepotism and bad governance. Nigeria always manage to come top. What an achievement, Naija is doomed.

They had done 10x worst than what PDP couldn't do for good 16 years.

Remember when Fashola said a responsible government can fix electricity within 6 months when GEJ was still president.

Please someone close to him should advise him to bring back power generation to 2014 levels at least.

We're getting there gradually!
By the time the idiots who are power drunk ruin it all, the natural course will set it; the country will automatically break into small units; then the northern lords who keep stuffing everything in their own pockets will have nothing left to stuff in. Why?
Nigeria will be gone! There was a country.
