If there was no endsar, banditry, bokoharam, ipob and all those inciting violence, there won't have been increase in the price of foodstuffs.

Inflation is around 16% thanks to those "gentle" problems above

Your mind is working Anti-Clockwise!
High cost of foodstuffs/food, Boko Haram, IPOB, EndSARs, Banditry, Kidnapping and the likes are on the increase because the government failed in their responsibilities.

My people, foodstuffs prices are becoming something else on a daily basis..the increment is mostly over 50 percent increase in some cases and I wonder how average Nigerians are managing. Something has to be done has this is getting out of hand.

Meanwhile some persons are already planning for 2023 when there's absolutely no positively in their current government. What is a way out of this or is just me feeling the heat?

Unfortunately, Nigerians love to suffer and smile! We encourage corruption.

The hike in food stuff should be blamed solely on the incompetence of this government .

It doesn't make any sense to me.

Sellers and dealers on foodstuffs are profiteering big time, and you want it blamed on government?

If you ask me, I'd say, if not for efforts by government, it would be worse than it currently is.

If there is any strategic, long term measure being put in place to address this, then it is the revitalization of rail infrastructures across the country.

State government and the private sector should get involved more. All we need is a glut of necessity food items to 'weaken' these cartels of sellers and dealers. We saw this play out in telecom when MTN almost finished us.

[/s] Oga you're just saying trash. The hike in fuel caused by government would naturally make the price of food stuff skyrocket. This is simple economics they teach in secondary school. Another thing, that has made food prices go up is the current insecurity plaguing the country. As we speak, farmers are afraid to go to their farms because of killer herdsmen hence there is a scarcity. So if government cannot provide security for farmers, how will they farm and produce food oga? Better wake up and stop being zoneb

You obviously are a fellow with little sense.

Who says that the hike in fuel price and insecurity aren't factors?

Which sensible person would dismiss transport / logistics and production proximity in analyzing costs of foodstuffs?

Are costs of foodstuffs the same across the country? The answer is no. Why aren't they the same, even when the hike in fuel was across the country?

One movement of a cargo train conveying foodstuffs, from end to end, equals 16, or even trucks (trailer) of the same foodstuffs.

Perhaps you aren't smart enough to know this. And also, to know that getting the states to invest more in agriculture put more lands in use, and greatly lessens the impact of insecurity, considering that more lands will have been deployed.

You sounded completely dumb when you talked about government being unable to provide security for farmers, as if we have always had some special form of security for farmers?

You talked as though you are entirely unaware of the strong connect between unemployment and insecurity. Getting the states to be more involved in agriculture translates to massive opportunities, in terms of enhanced food security and job creation, including significantly reduced foodstuffs costs.

The truth of the matter is that Nigeria is not a self sustainability country in food. We can lie all we want. We need to depend on imports to meet our local needs. But when government is sharing ban left and right what do you think happens?

Secondly, when useless fulani are not allowing farmers to farm why won't prices go up? Nigerian population is increasing massively and fewer people are venturing into farming.

It also doesn't help that the economic policies of the most useless government to have ever walked the face of the Earth contributes to the present food disaster. APC has failed!
Bros stop scaring us please you mean Nigeria can't farm the food we eat until we import food, I thought they say three states in Nigeria can feed this country?

What's this one saying?

Are costs of foodstuffs the same all over the country? The answer is NO.

So, why would any sensible person blame the hike in food prices on hike in fuel singly? That has been my point.

Would the food situation be a lot better had all the regions in the country being producing food optimally? The answer is YES.

The factors of transportation and logistics are significantly huge, in all of this as well.

With all of the hike in fuel costs, Nigeria still has the cheapest fuel in the world.

Have you ever complained about cost of beer, that is not even up to a liter?

Let's not talk about security 'cos you obviously know nothing about that.

Where is this mugu?

Oya, click on the link below and read about the 5-year Food Security Plan of Lagos state.

Only unsmart people hover around fuel hike excuses to not work on food sufficiency.

You'd leave your clueless governors to blame the president, who has done incredibly well, always. Under Buhari, we have seen a massive influx (or rather a complete takeover) of quality local rice products in markets across Nigeria. That one na lie too?

Why haven't Nigerians stopped drinking beer due to hike in fuel price? Nonsense!

[/s] Please do not bring your online stupidity to me. Kindly keep it with the 30k given to you by Buhari and his administration. Because it is obvious that you would rather see evil and call it good.

As we speak your country is set to borrow another $2.7 billion from Brazil to support the autistic agricultural sector you claimed has been producing rice.

The $2.1 billion to offset salaries that was borrowed in 2016 has not been paid but instead, your clueless leader decided to print money through his idiotic finance minister Zainab Adamu that would leave more room for inflation and price instability

Better countries are creating jobs to finance their economies and get out of debt, but your Islamo-marxist leader is busy increasing our debt profile with inconsistent policies that do not help any sector of the country.

So Kwantinue deceiving yourself. Las last, your 30k no go fit bury even your papa when things get harsh

Revamping the rails, mining, roads, agricultural sectors isn't improving the economy abi?

Which countries aren't borrowing? What is wrong with borrowing?

You kept yapping about Npower N30k, e dey pain you say dem nor select you? Sorry o.

For your information, saner countries borrow with the capacity to pay. But your country right now cannot pay; instead, its senseless leaders keep borrowing more and more, thereby putting you and your foolish household in a debt that is generational.

The revamping you made mention of is to Niger, which just goes to show how many misplaced priorities this government has in its stock.

Lastly, the 30k Buhari gives you to come online and air your foolishness is the reason you cannot see beyond the wickedness of his government. It is my earnest prayer that you become a victim of the current state of the nation's woes

Lol.

Your idiocy is certainly incurable.

Saner countries bla bla bla....

What countries do we borrow these monies from? Non-sane countries, I guess. And you think they do not run credit worthiness tests before lending out hundreds of millions of $? Fool!

What is to Niger? Lagos-Ibadan Railway? Warri-Itakpe Railway? You must be a he-goat!

Even if there is a railway project underway to Niger Republic, how can you shallow mind understand the strategic benefits of that?

Do you even know, one bit, the volume of trade that goes on on the Nigerian-Nigerien-Chad-Cameroun borders daily?

Aren't there railways crisscrossing the Europe? Do you even have any sense at all?

Spare me your 'earnest prayer' nonsense. The same earnest prayer you, Fayose and many dumb others, have been praying since 2015 for Buhari to die, that never gets anywhere.

I won't say any prayer for you 'cos I do not believe in such nonsensical prayers. Also, I do not practice 'dark religion' like you and millions of others. But what I'd say to you is, whatever you believe are Nigeria's current woes should remain in your mind and around you.

[/s] You talk like a fool. Why is Nigeria building a railway project to Maradi when there is not even a tangible railway project linking all states in Nigeria? Who in the world does that?

I just challenged you on the issue of borrowing without the capacity to pay, yet you have not been able to give a credible answer. Which just goes to show how cluelessly stupid your argument is on the subject.

And for your information, your country's dollar to Naira value at this moment is 480/$. This should tell you that your country produces nothing and that its monetary value on the international scale is almost becoming nonexistent. So where is Buhari's change agenda? Where is it because right now, we are in the midst of a dwindling economy under his hand

How would you know that I addressed your query about borrowing when you are plain dumb?

Between illiterate you and the countries giving out the loans to Nigeria, who should be talking about incapacity to pay back? Fool.

The decision to have a rail line to Maradi is hugely strategic, especially in the economic sense; and it is not an issue at all. Perhaps, it is only an issue for small minds like you.

Though I am Igbo, I was born and raised in the North, and have lived and studied practically everywhere around Nigeria, including overseas.

So, keep you mischief seeking petty opinions to yourself.

If you want to know more about the strategic benefits of the Nigeria-Maradi Railway Project, go to YouTube and watch Rt. (Hon) C.R. Ameachi addressing that.
