Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will on Tuesday (today) represent the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence Day celebration in Freetown.

Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday titled ‘VP Osinbajo to represent Nigeria at Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence Day celebration.’

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari would be represented by his deputy, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, at Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence Day celebration taking place today in the country’s capital, Freetown.

Prof Osinbajo would be joining several other Heads of State and Governments from Africa and beyond who are expected at the event.

“Historically, both Nigeria and Sierra Leone have shared cherished and cordial relations at least right from colonial times. The relationship has continued and evidenced in the socio-economic, technical, and security cooperation over the years.

“The Vice President who leaves Abuja this morning would be accompanied by the Foreign Affairs Minister of State, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, among others and he is expected back in Abuja later today.”

Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence? when the country is boiling, yet the service chiefs need 6 months to understand what is happening. The only discussion that should be on the table now is referendum.

Happy 60th Independence Day celebration to Sierra Leone.

I know they are battling very bad leadership too, but the fact that they have experienced some level of political stability and peace in the last couple of years, they have every right to celebrate, considering what they have been through during their many years of civil war.
